Joey's approach to training his clients is comprehensive. Unlike other trainers, Joey ensures he is proving the necessary support for your ultimate goal (losing weight, toning, bulking up, etc) This support comes in the form of customized work outs and nutrition guidance, all catered to you. As a person, Joey is extremely friendly and easy to talk to. As you train with him, you will shortly realize that he genuinely cares about you as a client and as a person. Even after working out with him for three months I've seen a complete body transformation. When I used to go to the gym by myself I would often times be discouraged because of the lack of results. With Joey it was just after two sessions when started to feel the changes. Joey requires you to train with him at least once per week with the option to train at a greater frequency if you desire. In the event that Joey can't make it, he has other trainers that work for him that will cover the session. You would think that they would be not as good as Joey but they are incredible as well! I've worked out with Antonio and Dennis and they both were amazing. Lastly, one of the best parts about working out with Joey is his flexibility. There's nothing worse than being charged for moving your scheduled session or having to postpone. Joey is extremely helpful in those situations. Sometimes I've had to work late or have been out of town and as soon as I told him, he was able to find an alternative time for us to workout. Overall a 5 star treatment for a 5 star trainer. If you're looking to meet that fitness goal you have always had, do not hesitate anymore. Working out with Joey can certainly make that a reality!

Joey goes over your personal goals with you, so that he knows what you're trying to achieve. He is very supportive and very easy to communicate with. His different approaches are catered specifically for each client. Unlike other trainers who put you on a treadmill and then start training with you, Joey is no bs and does more of an intensive core workout. You will get pushed to limits you thought you might not be able make it to, but in the end it is worth every penny. He is a great trainer with a vast amount of qualifications. I tried dozens (if not hundreds..) of classes, gyms and trainers during this time - so believe me when I say Variant Fit is one of the best. My favorite things about it are: 1. Small classes - it's like you're getting a personal training session, every time. 2. Variety - every class is slightly different so it never gets boring. 3. Supportive - Mike is great at pushing you to perform at your best, but also offers modifications for injuries, or if you need to go slower/lighter for any reason. 4. Form - Mike is big on proper form, which a lot of other trainers (especially in classes) tend to ignore. I really appreciate that and always feel like I'm learning something new! What makes Variant Fitness so special is that as soon as you begin the workout, it's on. For those…read more30-60 minutes, you will be moving, sweating, moving some more, sweating some more, you get the picture. Mike is one of the most strategic technical trainers that I have ever met! In high school psychology, I learned about gestalt or something that is more than the sum of its parts. Gestalt totally describes Mike's workout strategy. Depending on the workout that you are doing i.e. 4x4 beginning, 4x4 intermediate, the gauntlet, you will do 4-5 rounds. In each round, you will do 2 sets of each exercise and within each set, you will do anywhere from 5 to 30+ reps. In the beginning of each round when Mike first explains each exercise, nothing looks or sounds too crazy, but put together, oh baby, you feel the burn and that round somehow becomes more challenging than you thought it would be. Despite that challenge and the fatigue that you will definitely encounter, Mike makes the whole experience positive and always is watching your form. The most challenging part of the workout is remembering the exercises and number of reps for each exercise for each round and then keeping track of how many reps you have done. Only recommendation I would add is perhaps getting dry erase markers and writing out the exercises on the mirror and the number of reps for that round. Major bonus points to Mike for always remembering clients' names!

You will not only gain a coach or a trainer, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience, but you'll also gain a friend with whom you can talk about your troubles, concerns, someone who will become your support system whether you are trying to lose weight; which was the situation that I was in, or whether you are trying to improve your physique and gain muscle. When we first started, I was at the heaviest weight in my life. I was at 275lbs, could barely perform the basics that he asked of me during our initial session. Here we are, almost 3 years later, 105 lbs. lighter. My life has changed tremendously. I am in the best shape of my life, I am also a lot more happier and content with my own life and my happiness than I have ever been before. The difference is amazing. I am jogging again (slowly yes, but doing it!). I can do stairs without pain. I had a weak right ankle and came close to developing tendonitis in my left patella before I worked out with Malcolm. He prescribed a set of stretches that really helped me loosen up my calf muscles and my IT bands. Those stretches helped me get back to playing volleyball, and served as a tool to keep the tendonitis at bay. In addition to the workout, Malcolm takes time to stretch you out at the end of your workout. This really helps with recovery, and I think Malcolm is the only trainer I've heard of who's consistently done this for his trainees. Working out with Malcolm is tough, and great. I had just been getting back into the routine of going to the gym when I found MH Fitness. I can say confidently that it was a great decision on my part to get professional training advice. If you're on the edge, I would definitely give Malcolm a go.

They have upper body, lower body, full body and beginner classes. I ended up taking 10 classes total within my 2-week trial and loved every class I took. All the trainers are very positive, high energy and knowledgeable about different techniques. I felt and saw my body get stronger and leaner in such a short amount of time.
