After not using this business for so long, things weren't the same. Liked what I said at the beginning, they had a large section and selection of cakes. I unfortunately saw only a few of them. None of them truly appealed to me so I was forced to opt for some gelato. Young people in their late teens were mostly in charge the front. They were all polite and respectful to me. A few of them assisted me to give me samples of a few different types. I didn't need a huge cup of ice cream (I mean gelato) so I kindly and politely asked them if they could mostly give me the cake batter kind with a hint of coffee one on top. They usually don't do this as the smallest cups can only fit one scoop of one flavor. They made an exception for me. Hopefully I wasn't too difficult. My tiny and modest gelato was creamy and well made. As a matter of fact it was quite amazing. And the size small was indeed just the right amount (I am older now; gotta watch how I eat!!) The shop is impeccably almost always clean. The decors match the shop's theme. I am glad that I made a quick stop this afternoon.

I am addicted to the chocolate caramel brownies. It is the best dessert item I believe I've ever eaten. It's gotten to the point where I ask family to hide them from me because they're so good I can barely stop myself from gobbling them down. Every cupcake I've tried has been very good or excellent, with just a couple exceptions. I think now I've tried 16 different flavors. I love that they have so many varieties. Butterscotch Grove is very generous with the frosting, which is the best part of any cupcake in my opinion. I really enjoy this store. All of the offerings are displayed well, and the employees have been fantastic. The ambience of butterscotch Grove reminds me of when I was a kid and I went to the bakery with my mom. It smells fantastic!

The cake itself was a little dense. It did have a surprise filling and the frosting was good but a little to sweet. I probably would not visit again as I can get a cupcake from Kroeger that is about 4 times the size for the same price.

In shocking news, it looks and feels like every other Starbucks ever assembled by corporate America. Your expectations will be met. The talls that are actually shorts, the ventis that are vaguely Italian-ish, the seasonal drinks, the espresso-adjacent beverages, and all the pumps of artificially flavored sugar your pre-diabetic body desires are here and accounted for. Service was perfectly fine on a Saturday at 7:30 a.m., which is about all one can reasonably ask from a national coffee machine with humans attached to it. The more interesting part is the setting. This being Highlands Ranch, the entire experience is built around the automobile. The Starbucks sits on a corner in a very chain-heavy plaza with the usual suspects nearby. Shake Shack, Torchy's, and the broader parade of suburban convenience masquerading as choice. The drive-thru wraps around the building in a way that makes it very clear who this location is for. Cars glide through with purpose. Pedestrians, meanwhile, are treated like an unwelcome software bug. To get inside, you have to cross the drive-thru lane and stay alert as vehicles enter, loop around, and exit on the other side. It is not impossible. Just weirdly hostile. So yes, the coffee was fine. The staff was fine. The experience was Starbucks. But the design is terrible. Car-first, pedestrian-last, suburbia doing exactly what suburbia does. And yes, the irony is not lost on me that I was only there because I was getting my SUV serviced. Suburban hell comes for us all, apparently with mobile ordering.
