We came to Richmond Public Market for some bubble waffle but my husband bought a drink and a Taiwanese wheel cake from Peanuts too while we were there. He got a Blueberry Slushy drink and the wheel cake had red bean inside. Drinks are always solid at Peanuts and on the more affordable side too given what many other places will charge for bubble tea drinks these days. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of his wheel cake but that's no fault of the shop. Red bean is something I'm generally not crazy about to begin with. I have learned over the years that I can appreciate red bean as a bubble tea drink if it's all blended up. However, it's the chunks of bean that I don't like, and this wheel cake had chunks of bean in it. Might have gone over better with me if it had been filled with a smooth, red bean paste...no chunks of bean in it. That's just personal preference though. If you're someone who enjoys red bean paste and don't mind chunks, then you might enjoy this Taiwanese wheel cake. read more

Tried mango drink , she said it was mango + yogurt. Also asked for as little sweetness as possible. When we got it I asked if it was the right drink bc it did not look like any yogurt at all and she said yes it was made correctly. The drink was also very very sweet. read more

Bubble tea was deliciously old school and not too sweet. Pearls were smaller sized than average and so perfectly fresh, soft and chewy. Prices are so reasonable with many drinks under 5$??? This is one of my must visit places every time I visit Richmond. Their bing wheels are excellent, but expect a wait, sometimes 20+ mins if you want to pick your fillings. The winter melon drink is my go-to drink here. Refreshing and really good. Make sure you ask for an extra straw because they are paper and get soggy before you can finish it. Peanuts: "since 1994" For a bubble tea shop to be open for nearly 3 decades, they must be doing something right! Their drinks are very affordable at roughly CA$5 or less. But they're more well known for their CA$1.25 wheel cakes: a rice flour based dough with savory or sweet filling. I ordered two wheel cakes (one red bean, one matcha white chocolate). Both were soft and chewy with a lightly crispy exterior. The red bean one had whole red beans inside instead of paste. I also ordered the original milk tea with pearls, which was good but not spectacular. First time visiting Vancouver, seen alot of google reviews and on youtube, solid powdered boba shop. A reminiscence of a good early 2000's boba stores. I got myself a taro with pearl, a taste I can remember... very similar taste of the famous Quickly boba store back then. Wanted a drink when I was at the Richmond Public Market and this was the highest rated place on Google and I understand why! We got the lychee ginger tea with 50% of sugar and lemon slice tea. Both were really yummy, a bit sweet for my taste but the flavors made up for it! I loved how gingery the lychee ginger was. Tasty and cheap (inexpensive) bubble tea place in Richmond Public Market. Fun fact - this place is the oldest surviving bubble tea shop in Richmond (started in 1994). The true OG. Parking is available in the RPM parkade attached to the main building. The prices are very reasonable compared to most other places in town. Guessing their rent is lower than many adjacent stalls. Most importantly, they still use real fruit for many (possibly all?) of their drinks. The strawberry slush I had hit the spot. It was beautiful. Nice and refreshing on a hot day. read more

I've been going to Peanuts for over 20 years and I LOVE their wheel cakes. I had order the grapefruit tea half sweet but it was still really sweet so I think I would get 25% sugar next time. Amazing that this food court bubble tea shop has been open for 30 years! Their prices are also like a step back in time - maybe not 30 years back, but before food prices skyrocketed in the past few years. You can get a drink with toppings for $5-7 and the wheel cakes are a little over $1. Some of the toppings are a little expensive, but with the base price of the drink as affordable as it is, you can still get a premium topping and have a drink at a reasonable price. My drink, a green bean slush with taro paste, plus two wheel cakes was $9.75. Cash only. Despite the low prices, I was impressed by the quality of my drink. The earthy and natural flavour of the green bean paired with nutty taro was really nice. The taro paste was thick but smooth, and they were generous with it. Didn't taste like "cheap" bubble tea even if the price is not too high. The wheel cakes were also so good! They have 10 flavours that they make, but only 4 were ready when I ordered. Luckily they had two that I wanted to try: radish and taro. They're constantly cooking the wheel cakes so mine were still nice and warm when I got them. The cakes were super soft inside and generously filled. The warm taro paste was almost custardy and the savoury radish filling was also tasty. The woman who took my order was super nice! Very good and inexpensive. I love the different flavors of wheel cakes-- I especially love the peanut flavor and a close second with red bean and custard! The boba here is pretty good and refreshing. We happen to find this place when we were searching for a post garlic, crab bubble tea! What a great find! They've apparently been in business for a long time, and you can see why. Tons of different flavor options, the prices are very reasonable, and the small pinwheel cakes were a marvelous accompanying treat! We grabbed a mix of milk teas and blended drinks. A decent boba shop thats not bad choice if you're already in the plaza. Easy to drink though not too much dept of flavor. Boba had okay chew. They also have wheel cakes though! Be careful of crazy/fast drivers that turn the corner too quickly... witnessed at least 3 cars speeding through unsafely. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - It seems like they don't have a set menu on which flavors of Pinwheels they'll have available - they continuously make fresh ones and put different fillings as the day goes on, so you'll never know for sure what you can choose from! We had a first stop and they had Black Sesame, Matcha, and Taro. An hour later, they had Red Bean, Coconut, and Chocolate. So it's really a toss up! - FOOD - Black Sesame (~$1): Theres an option to buy 4 instead of 1 and it is a deal! Black Sesame was nicely flavored and there was a good amount of filling to breading ratio. The outside layer is a nice Mochi texture and the crust was nice and crisp! Red Bean (~$1): Again, a nice ratio of filling to breading! I personally liked Red Bean more as it was more sweet and had a nice change in texture. What an adorable spot in Richmond Public Market! We wanted something refreshing on the hot weekend day and found what we were looking for. We managed to beat the line twice and order when there was no wait, but the popularity of this spot suggests that it's really good to locals as well. I got the Grenadine Fruit Tea and asked for 50% sugar / 50% ice, which was refreshing but I think I could've gone up to 75%. In Seattle they make their drinks way sweeter and I'm always a 30-50% girl, but it seems like flavor palates are more mild here which is great. I've never had a grenadine flavor before -- it was yummy but I've got no idea what fruit it was supposed to be. It didn't really taste like pomegranate, which was my closest guess at the Chinese translation. The Coffee Milk Tea was also really rich -- way more authentic of a taste than I'm used to. There is always a line, and have to wait for the "pucks", as I like to call them, but soo worth the wait. I WHEELY wanted to try these for so long! Finally lined up to grab some wheel cakes from Peanuts Bubble Tea at the Richmond Public market after lining up to order rice rolls from Hei Hei. The order taker told me there was a 15 minute wait. I picked it up in 20 minutes and was ready in the warming display case. The timing was perfect because we were able to finish eating the rice rolls first and then enjoy the wheel cakes. My thoughts: Black sesame mochi was my favourite. My another visit was yesterday just to see if they had wheelcakes. I luckily made onto the time to get wheelcakes around 2. Redbean and sesame wheelcakes were tasty. Black sesame one had a sticky texture and the filling tasted pretty good. I liked both redbean and the sesame one. Service was efficient. I was first told to wait 15 minutes for the wheelcakes, but it took less than 15. I was so glad to get fresh ones as the owner was super busy on working on orders for wheelcakes. read more

Dropped in to Richmond Public Market to look for a snack and saw Peanuts has the longest line (3-4 persons). Waiting a around until it got quiet a bit to ponder my drink. The quiet didn't last long as another queue start up shortly after. Decided to get Peach Calpis with coconut jelly and 3 wheel cakes (cream, taro and peanut). Not sure if they changed their price recently, but didn't see an price for 4 wheel cakes, $0.85 each which is quite reasonable. The peanut has pieces of crushed peanuts and maybe thought it was peanut butter. Enjoyed the cream and taro more. read more

With the cost of a drink ranging from $3 to $5 (aka prices from maybe 10 years ago) this is always a must visit when in the Richmond Public Market. To newer patrons: never hesitate to order one or a dozen of their wheel cakes while you're there! At $0.85 a piece, these little delicacies are loaded with their house made fillings, whatever that may be. Be warned, the weekend lineup, even during covid, is long!
