Both my husband and I were home & waiting for our delivery 6am-8am this morning, and watching for the truck. NO ONE CAME, rang the bell or called!!!!! I spoke to customer service and they insisted the truck came, biggest lie as we were both sitting at front window having breakfast and truck never showed. Fresh Direct has outstanding service and never a problem. Looks like we will stay with Fresh Direct as their service has been wonderful. We are most unhappy about the problem with PeaPod. Their promise is a joke! Our Promise Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed, every order, every time. If you're not happy, we make it right. That's the Peapod promise. If you have any problems or questions call 1-800-5-PEAPOD. Our satisfaction is zero and the only thing they did was offer to reschedule delivery tomorrow. We've figured out how to make Peapod work for us, but until Peapod starts quoting accurate delivery times, the one star ratings will continue. Here's how Peapod works in NYC from someone whose ordered about once a week for nearly a year now. If you order late in the day they driver will almost always be late, generally by 1-2 hours or more. The 6-8 delivery window translates to 7-10:30 or so. They will arrive at 6:00 exactly once just to keep you on your toes, but sometimes as late as 11. Do not order if you can't stay up that late. The local delivery office will call, usually between 7:30 and 8. They won't apologize and seem to accept the fact the late deliveries are normal. If pressed, they will sometimes offer excuses (flat tire, parade, etc) but it's very clear that late deliveries are just a normal fact of life. It's pointless to get upset at them since they can't and/or won't help you. Customer service, however, is always friendly and expresses surprise at the late deliveries. They will generally start by offering a credit for the delivery fee (we're on the prepaid delivery program, so that's no help). However, if pressed, they will generally offer even more money. This time was pretty typical... we requested delivery between 6 and 8. They called at 7:45 saying they are running late and our driver will be here at 10:10. No apologies. Just matter of fact, and kind of grouchy and depressed (imagine how you'd feel if you just called the 100th person on the day saying you were running late). They transfer me to customer service; it's about 5-10 minutes on hold. Rep is friendly and apologetic. First offer is free delivery credit, but with little effort I push them to $20 off this order and $10 coupon for the next order. That's $30 off... By this point we've probably gotten hundreds of dollars in credits. We'd probably get more but I usually only call if they will be more than an hour late. (Last week they did switch up the routine. They showed up on time... we were kind of surprise. But then they forgot 1/2 our order. That showed up about 2 hours later). If you don't mind late deliveries and having to call customer service this is great way to get cheap groceries. Just know what you are getting yourself into. read more

Servers were down most of the day and call in to customer service with an average hold time of 30 min with no one who was remotely capable of helping resolve issues. Fresh Direct VIP for 6 years ... decided to try Peapod after I received an e-mail stating that they are now delivering in Bed Stuy. Worst mistake I ever made was to compare it to FD. 1. The website is not easy to shop from. The prices are decent but when they don't have the items you need what's the point? 2. The items come in bags haphazardly packed and the customer service is awful. 3. Of course it turned out that there was another awful snowstorm the night of my scheduled delivery. I was called at 6:30 and told that the delivery would likely be 1 1/2 hrs later than my delivery window (6-8). I told the girl I may need to reschedule, she said I would have to call a different number and speak with them at 'Customer Care'. I called the number (she didn't even offer a transfer) and spoke with a woman who was nice enough and she said her notes indicated the delivery wouldn't be later than 8:35- 8:45. That would work for me so I said ok and decided not to reschedule my delivery for the next day. 9:35 the delivery shows up to my home. At that time, the delivery person shows me a list of several items that weren't available like 6 items (including meats which are the biggest part of my list). Fresh direct sends an e-mails if anything is not available. Then I look at my fresh produce and notice the expiration date is only 2 days away. Now I call Peapod and speak with someone, tell them all of my gripes and the rep doesn't apologize for the time mix-up, doesn't apologize for the items missing, and says that their policy states that as long as it's 2 days from the date delivered the produce is Ok to sell. Guess I'll be juicing and cooking up 2 lbs of Kale and 2 lbs Spinach today lest my money and food go to waste. O_O Fresh Direct offers credits for future shopping if anything is wrong with the order or the experience. Their customer service is excellent. Their food comes packaged very well in boxes to avoid crushing, breaking, squishing , etc. The ONLY reason I gave Peapod a shot is because FD is getting so popular in my hood that now it's tough to get the delivery timeslots I want/need unless I order a week in advance of when I need it delivered ---which is annoying but I'll deal with that. I abandoned Fresh Direct for the sake of my wallet. Peapod is an okay alternative in a pinch. They have pretty good sales, more brands my family needs, and take coupons. My experience has been hit or miss with them. Sometimes they are on time but sometimes very late or early, why oh why do I choose a 7am-9am slot?? There have been instances where food is spilled/broken/spoiled, but they always give me credit for the item in question. My biggest pet peeve with Peapod is their lack of of consistency in terms of available inventory. How hard is it to mark something out of stock? When you make a large order for a party or special meal and something is missing it is very upsetting. They also don't provide a delivery slip with your listed items and the delivery minimum is $60. The fee is $9.95 (gah!) under $100 and $6.95 above $100. You also get $1 credit (woohoo) for using the direct checking payment method. As a working mother of two babies, Peapod still gets my business only because I have barely any time to go to the supermarket and they usually have what I need (20 lb bag of Carolina rice, goya products, etc.) read more

Quite possibly the most hilariously AWFUL online grocery shopping experience I've had in the past 20 years. LOL! They pull you in with their reasonable prices and ALL of their products! OMG, they carry nearly EVERYTHING, (hear that, Fresh Direct?). Shopping through them was pretty easy, and they offer so many delivery times... Truly, I was in food-shopping euphoria! Aaaaaaand, then I waited for my order to arrive. And, I waited. And, waited... *whistling* I finally called, and was informed, (very apologetically) that my order would be arriving approximately three hours late. SAY WHAAAAAAAT? lol The lovely customer service rep rescheduled my delivery for the next day, and gave me $15 off. Well, okay. Things happen. So, Thursday arrives and I waited and waited, once again. I was quite angry when I called, but after being on hold for 45 minutes, (!!!) TWICE, (seriously, I kid you not) I just became rather hopeless and lethargic. When someone finally did pick up, I was once again greeted with the most sincere apologies and a $20-off coupon - And, then informed that my order would not be arriving for another couple of hours. *sigh* I 100% canceled my order and vowed, as nicely as I could, (he sounded like he was going to cry) that I would never even glance at Peapod again. This morning, I returned to Fresh Direct, head held high, and vowing that I would never, EVER cheat again. We'll see how long that lasts, but until another grocery delivery company pops up that has their act together as well as Fresh Direct does... I'll pay the inflated prices. Food orders are backed up two weeks in advance, which is understandable. What's not understandable is cancelling the order because a two zipcode town tripped the computer or whatever, and making customers who were already with limited food reserves have to reorder through the two week waiting period again. I haven't had the same issues others have had with deliveries. I think they've been late maybe once (in 15+ orders). I live in a very central location (Union Square) so that might help. I like being able to order from them, but I still need to order from FreshDirect too. The services just specialize in very different things. Peapod is much better for general groceries. They have a better selection of, for example, frozen foods, sodas, and health/beauty aids. It is more like shopping in a typical American supermarket. FreshDirect is more of a gourmet shop and this means by far less selection for basic/staple grocery items. However, the gourmet nature of FreshDirect is not a weakness. I continue to buy most of my seafood, cut fruit and much of my produce from FD, as well as beer. With that said, I've had a couple of surprising experiences with Peapod outperforming FD on specific fresh items. The avocados from Peapod have uniformly arrived perfectly ripe and tasty, and are always less expensive than FD's. The bananas are also more reliably ripe to the specified level. Additionally, I prefer Peapod's method for "measuring" fruits and veggies -- you can just tell them you want like one pound of grapes, and pay $2.99 for that pound -- with FD, it goes by the bunch (or what have you) and you are forced into buying huge quantities of things (and paying $$$$ accordingly -- I've unwillingly paid $8 for grapes on more than one occasion). I have always found this odd for a service that largely caters to Manhattanites living in small spaces. There are also some weird ways in which FD outperforms PP on basic groceries. For example, FD consistently comes in cheaper on 12-packs of soda. Weird. The things I don't like about Peapod are their system for substitutions and their constantly being out of stock on basic things. This weekend, it was button mushrooms. You place your order and then you just don't get that thing, and you don't find out till the driver is in your apartment with your order. I've had this happen with fish when I was planning fish tacos, chicken when I was planning to roast a chicken... you get the idea. It can really mess up meal planning. But their substitutions are even worse. This weekend is the second time I ordered a single-serve Edy's Light Ice Cream and had them substitute a Haagen Dazs cup. Sorry but that is NOT a reasonable substitution if you know anything about nutrition labels. (My husband was happy of course.) I really wish they would just get their inventory systems down pat as this would save a lot of trouble and angst. Finally, I appreciate that PP uses regular (plastic) grocery bags instead of huge, mostly empty boxes like FD. I have been using this service for about 9 months now, when life gets too hectic to go shopping for paper products and non perishables....Here is why I gave it 5 stars- 1) total convenience from either my cellphone or laptop 2) I have always had an on time to the minute delivery 3) Courteous drivers 4) You can keep sale priced items in your cart for a few days after the sale & still pay the sale price. 5) huge selection ( the entirety of stop n shop) I have also purchased fresh fruit and vegetables for 4th of July, and was actually very impressed with the freshness and quality. I'm now DONE with Peapod. I've been using them for at least a year. They were never great, and have been going down hill slowly for months. They've been getting spotty with their substitutions making sense for a minute now. Quality has also gone down hill. This past Sunday, I headed back to NYC earlier than I would have liked in order to make my delivery window. And they cancelled it (due to unexplained mechanical issues) while I was on the train. All they offered was a measly free delivery code for the inconvenience. And, when they put the items back in my cart, they wiped out my discount code. Today, just got an email that my delivery was delayed by two hours. I already had 8-10pm because that's all they had left. Completely mechanical, no personality customer service when I called, no true apology, no attempt to keep me from canceling my order, and only got a confirm (because she slipped) that the driver hasn't even left yet (read: ain't done showed up to work anywhere near on time), and that this is a RECURRING problem they're having. You gots to get up out of here with all that! Folks who use this service do so because THEY AIN'T GOT THE TIME!!!!! I am extremely unhappy about my customer service interaction with peapod. I had placed an order on may 15th and still have 2 separate holds of 75 and 83 dollars on my account. I called today to inquire on it and spoke to a very condescending woman who told me that this is the way its going to be unless i sign up with my bank account. if i use my credit or debit card ...thats how it will be. This was my first order/delivery. My verdict is I will try Peapod again. Look it's not a perfect service. But I am saving money, labor and time overall. My large order of groceries was 93% perfect (even though I added multiple items last minute to my list online). For years, I have ordered from Fresh Direct. But I encountered the SAME problems that people are criticizing Peapod for (late delivery, missing items, items not fresh etc.). But Fresh Direct is more expensive. So I decided to try Peapod this week and here is what happened. Peapod compared to Fresh Direct so far... Pros: Items definitely are way cheaper Same variety and or quality of grocieries that I'd order from Fresh Direct More delivery spots were available even though I ordered less then 24 hours in advance My produce, dairy and meats were excellent quality and expiration dates were a good week or two away (a common problem I had with Fresh Direct, where my meats, dairy, produce I ordered were consistently 2 days away from expiring). Did not have to break down dozens of card board boxes ------------ General Pros (some border line cons): Peapod called me to say delivery might be late, but delivery was on time anyway Food was delivered to my door by a friendly driver When I called about missing/damaged items, I was not on hold very long, and my account was refunded, no questions asked. I received a random cucumber and double order of yogurts (I was not charged for them). Cons: My milk had a small leak (also had this problem with Fresh Direct) My order was missing one pre-made sandwich Eggs and Spinach were "out of stock " and no alternative was used to replace them, but my card was not charged. The photos, or descriptions could be clearer on the Peadpod site. For example, I accidentally ordered two enormous bags of potatoes, instead of 2 single potatoes. Order attempt #1 - 1.5 hours late (11:30pm), so I rescheduled because I had an early meeting in the morning. Order attempt #2 - driver called several times while I was at the office, I finally picked up because I thought it was an emergency. He called because he was in the neighborhood and wanted to leave my groceries with the doorman. I told him that the doorman didn't have a fridge or freezer and since I had ice cream, meat, milk, etc. he should come back at the scheduled time. 20 minutes later my doorman calls telling me the driver was dropping off the groceries and there was nothing he could do. Get home to find everything in bags on the floor of my un air-conditioned lobby and in huge green crates. Who wants melted ice cream and meat that's been sitting out? Hmmm...so many BAD reviews. Truth be known, I could easily write a bad review as well, but I'll (soon) explain why I won't. Yes, they were late with one of my deliveries (I've ordered 20+ times). Yes, the delivery guy once dripped chicken blood down my hallway. Yes, there is often something wrong with my order that most often involves fruit and veggies (e.g. overripe, smacked up a bit, inadvertently placed next to something frozen, etc). BUT... They did call and politely let me know that my delivery was running late and I figured, "Hey, no biggie, at least I'm not out and about lugging this stuff around and paying fares to do it." They did give me a $20 discount on my next order to compensate me for the cleaning and annoyance of said blood leakage (a chicken wing punctured the plastic wrapping on a whole chicken) and I figured, "Hey, no biggie, the blood came out (thanks Woolite Oxy Deep carpet cleaner) and the same thing could have happened to me." They always rectify, quickly and politely, billing regarding any item that arrives in subpar condition and I figure, "At least I don't have to trek back to this or that store to rectify the issue (something I often forget or decide not to do)." The thing is, I'm sure most of the above would be unacceptable to many, but, meh, I DO like saving a few shekels. No, NOT because of problems, but because PeaPod has great prices on a relatively great selection of grocery and non-grocery items. I also like shopping from the comfort of my phone and/or home as I don't enjoy lugging around my groceries, even if I supplement my PeaPod orders with a bit o' TJ's, Whole Foods, and (cough, cough) FreshDirect, among others every now and again. I will share a caveat (or two) before I go (as you may be bored to tears?!): I am pretty flexible with delivery times and often order several days in advance (I like those Wednesday discounts). I live in a large building in a well-populated area of Wburg. I don't expect PeaPod to have everything I want, or even the quality I desire at times, but I'm a realist and supplement by shopping elsewhere as needed. Lastly, I always buy over $100, which lowers the shipping charges I pay. BOTTOM-LINE: I've had an issue or several over time, but I think the benefits far outweigh said issues. This is my 6th order with Peapod. This service was recommended to me by friends and family. Everything has been great until today. On each order, I've included instructions to leave the groceries in front of my door if I'm not home yet. This is because I work in a hospital so my schedule can be unpredictable. I live in a doorman secure building. Each time, I've had no issues. Today I get a call by a woman named Karissa stating the driver has been waiting and asking when I'm getting home. I explained I was on my way and reiterated the delivery instructions. She proceeds to explain that this is against company policy. How in the world could I have known this is against policy when it hasn't been a problem with previous orders? There is no mention of this on the app when I place an order either. Instead of being a reasonable human being, she continues to say the driver has already waited and needs to leave. I asked her what the resolution was and she transferred the call to customer service abruptly and without warning. If this was truly a courtesy extended to me on previous orders, I truly appreciate it but don't bully and pressure me on the phone if I don't realize this is against policy. Therefore, I wasn't home to receive. Because of this persons inability to think critically, a second customer service agent had to find the order, attempt to reschedule, waive restocking and cancellation fee, and now have the items restocked. A loss of a $115 sale plus staff resources and future business. Exhausting resources and losing money because of an inexperienced and unprofessional front line staff member. Due to this experience, I am switching services. I refuse to work with a company as unprofessional as this. read more

Kids, I don't get it.... People dumping on PeaPod? Really? You'd rather get dressed, get in the car, wheel a cart around the store, wait in line to pay, get the bags into the car, drive home, unload the bags and put it all away? Seriously? OK. Me? I like these guys. They have come 95% on time for me. Food has been as I ordered, unless they ran out of something. And it takes every step but "put it all away" from grocery shopping. It keeps track of previous orders so I don't have to search around for things I buy all the time. It has a section for Sale Items so you can load the pantry when things go on sale. And they do. I buy stuff 20 at a time when it goes on sale. Do I want to lug 20 cans of Beefaroni home or have PeaPod bring it? This is a no-brainer. FreshDirect has more prepared food and gourmet stuff. The fresh veg and fruit is better there too. BUT... FreshDirect is almost always more expensive. When I buy boxes of kid's cereal: PeaPod. VitaminWater and cat litter? PeaPod. Canned food and frozen pizza? I think you see where I'm going. If you really like to drive to the store, knock yourself out. I have better things to do. And if you have a trust fund you are looking to dissipate: buy everything from FreshDirect. Or send me a big check. I like PeaPod. Pea pod is fantastic as far as quality, reliability, price and efficiency. I have been a customer for a couple of years now. My food always arrives super fresh and on time. If they happen to be running late someone will call you. My only complaint is that if something ordered is not available you don't find out until delivery! Update after living in an area without Peapod - they are still my favorite grocery delivery service. I really, really, like that they have their own drivers - means those folks have a steady job, and you have the same people delivering to you on a regular basis. I used Shipt and Instacart in my new neighborhood - it was fine, it was nice to be able to update with new items on the fly. HOWEVER - there was a different driver every time. Usually they did a fine job, but it started to bother me from a security standpoint - these folks usually come right into your kitchen. They know where you live, what is in your house, and they are not regular employees. After a while it started to creep me out - now I either have them leave groceries on the doorstep or I use a pickup service. I wish I still had Peapod! read more

I'm in New Haven, CT. We've been using Peapod for about 2 years now. We've had issues with rotten produce, damaged produce, close to rotten produce, you name it. The customer service is great, though, and we've always gotten a refund no questions asked. The website is atrocious. I don't think we've ever had a shopping experience where the website didn't have issues. It's either painfully slow or just stops working altogether. I'm literally shopping right now and the website has given up on loading. I am so sick of this issue. Someone really needs to fix these issues. read more

Re: Westchester area I sadly have to give a poor rating because of habitual late order arrivals during weeknight deliveries. This most recent one is going to be up to 90 mins late- aka 11:30pm. Not cool when you need to be up at 5am. I've ordered for early morning delivery without a problem, but I've become nervous that they may be late and I can't afford to leave late for work so I've been scheduling the night deliveries. The mornings seemed to come with a lack of the typical text message notifications re: your order is next/ your driver has arrived; which means you have to run to the window every 10 mins. Weekends have been mostly reliable but that's not always doable on my side. The last time the order was late like this many of my frozen foods had thawed out, and then became blocks of ice after they were frozen again, making some things nearly unusable. I've really liked the convenience of the service and the quality of produce has been good; drivers are friendly and I've only had two deliveries where a driver ignorantly left windows down and music blasting on a quiet residential street. The drivers typically show up alone and I wonder if that has something to do with the delays (may be faster with a team). Customer service when you call to complain about lateness is helpful and they generally give you either a discount or a coupon for your next order. But this pattern of lateness is a huge deterrent as it obliterates the convenience. May start looking to other services. read more

I used to love this service until today. Long story short there was blood on my items. How God damn gross is that. 2 suggestions for peapod also known as stop & shop serving the Middletown, NJ area, Number 1. Have your workers wear GLOVES (vinyl, plastic, or rubber) will do. Number 2. Have your workers use a DOLLY( CART) if the order is huge and if it especially contains a 35 pack of bottled water and big jug of Clorox bleach,etc. What I believe happened is while the delivery guy was lugging and balancing all those groceries to my door he cut himself on the plastic wrapping of the 35 pack of bottled water. (Notice the blood of the water bottle cap). I did see he had a fresh vertical cut near his cuticle of his thumb which leads me to believe he cut his thumb while holding the heavy 35 pack water. I tried having the blood tested but a couple big labs in the area say they don't do that. I could have tested it myself using methods you can find online but I didn't want to expose myself any further to this blood. If the delivery guys don't want to use carts (dolly's) how bout using GLOVES to prevent this from happening. I spent a lot of time throwing away food that this order came into contact with and having to fumigate and clean my refrigerator, counter tops, table, and everything this order's items touched. Thoroughly disgusted. This is a health hazard and has the potential to spread Hepatitis C and many other horrible diseases. Damn shame the service was just about perfect to. I called peapod customer service and an idiot manager told me he'd refund me for the items that had blood on it. Can you believe how stupid this guy is. I told them I'm not a forensic scientist and I'm not about to go through every item searching for blood and putting myself at more risk. It took me a long time to clean this biohazard up and I'm still nervous about eating food in my fridge. I've posted 2 pictures of the bloody items. What a shame all because these delivery people don't use common sense and wear a pair of $1 gloves. I ALWAYS wear 2 pair of disposable gloves when I get my peapod order because I'm aware there are sharp edges on packaging especially large packs of bottled water. So this was not my blood. First- I asked three different delivery people their coupon policy (specifically the refund turn around time) and the answer was "same day" three times. I give a delivery driver $36 in coupons only to find out it takes 10 days to process them... because they send them to Illinois... Instead of just processing them at the stores!? Great service, food was fresh, delivered all the way to the door. Was running ten minutes late and I received a courtesy call 30 minutes before my delivery window was set. Will use again. FYI the driver said that people who complain should use morning service instead as those deliveries are the most timely. During the 60 day free delivery period, I did not have one problem with my deliveries. Always on-time and in the even something wasn't in stock, the driver notified me. After the 60 day free delivery period, 3 out of 4 deliveries have been more than 30 minutes late and the latest one was delivered to either the wrong apartment building or left on the front stoop of my building. Either way, I didn't receive the order and the customer service rep can't get a hold of the driver to figure out what the story is. I am never using them again and will probably brave the long lines at the supermarkets from now on... this coming from someone that works 65-70 hours in a week. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about Peapod. On the one hand, they have a great selection and have normal prices like a real grocery stores (sorry fresh direct). I also really like that they deliver on time and call when they are coming. However, the thing that I dislike the most (and they lose two stars for) is that they don't tell you when things are out of stock until you receive your order. This is frustrating especially when planning meals for the week. I live in a neighborhood with overpriced and limited stores so I then have to go out if my way to find missing ingredients. I will definitely order from them again but I wish they'd update their online ordering system to reflect what's really in stock. read more

Worst Customer service!! Not punctual at all (Late 4/4 deliveries I had with them) My last delivery with them wasn't even delivered!!! They didn't call the number provided to let us know they were running late, then knocked once and left while I was in the bathroom, mind you this was 40 minutes after the arrival window. I have experienced better - from Peapod themselves. I first started ordering from them a few years back and it was great. A solid range of products, good pricing and reasonable delivery times with good follow up if there was an issue. Their customer service has gone down hill within the last 6 months or so. They're often out of stock on items - which you don't find out until the driver doesn't have them. Having to then run out at 7pm on a Sunday night to pick up what they didn't bring eliminates the convenience factor in ordering for delivery. Customer service is apathetic. Two fouled up deliveries - debating whether they get a third. On the plus side, the delivery staff is phenomenal and polite. I've had the same driver a few times and he always asks about Giants or Yankees as seasonally appropriate. read more

I seen the subway advertisement and as much as I love the prices at stop & shop I thought i'd give it a try! I was excited to use the website that actually wasn't that bad and is true to the cheap prices at Stop & Shop (probably the only reason it gets the second star) I ordered Sat afternoon and placed my order for the 4-10pm shipment time slot the following Sunday as I would be home all day. I get a automated call that Sun morning that the order is delayed for 2 hrs I expected it would come a little late no big deal right? :( At 10:15pm I get a call the driver is running hours late they hardly apologized and just transferred me to customer service to schedule another day (they did refund shipping cost which was nice). Next day I get yet another email that the shipment is again running hours late -___- I mean the store is less then a few miles away! I get the order 30 mins late with missing items. I wouldn't be so upset if the items weren't my meat products! the thing that is most heavy to carry from the actual store. Oh and how could I forget how horribly packaged the items were my detergent spilled into my food items..sighs.. If I wasn't sick I would have trekked it out to the actual store. When the order arrives 30/40 mins late as I was told by the driver that not only does the food not come from NY stop & shop but a NJ factory so it will always be late. Not only that but he had 15 other orders to deliver and he knew that he could only make it to a quarter of them as it was almost 10pm. I kind of felt bad for the poor guy. So yea there is no facility nearby which accounts for all these late deliveries...its really not worth it when you are in a crunch and cant be home alllll day to wait for them. WHY? WHY? WHY? It serves me right for not reading the reviews prior to placing my order! Shame on me! I've seen the Peapod trucks in the neighborhood and figured it was worth a try -- $20 off the first order and free delivery. Their prices seemed pretty good, so I gave it a whirl. NEVER AGAIN! The driver was 45 minutes late. Yes, they called and said he was going to be late, but still. Then I see 4 bags of sweet potato chips that I didn't order. Upon inspecting the rest of the order, I'm missing 8 other items. This whole process took 20+ minutes. No wonder they're always running so late. I called customer service and they said they would issue me the credit for the items. When I told the agent that it was my first/last order, all I got was a half-hearted 'sorry.' Yes, some of their stuff is cheaper than Fresh Direct, but I never had the problems with Fresh Direct. Only once were they ever late.... by 5 minutes. My orders were always correct, and delivered with the utmost efficiency -- in and out in 2-3 minutes. Back to Fresh Direct I go.... Oh wait, I found even more mistakes. Ordered kale... expiration date is less than 48 hours away and both boxes STINK! Also, I ordered hemp seeds. At a glance I saw the hemp seeds, but upon further inspection, they're hemp seed hearts. Despite my prior experience I gave three stars, but after a few more experiences I'm downgrading to two. (And the ONLY reason it doesn't get just one is that it's still the most affordable option, in my opinion.) I suggest getting an early time slot if you can-- the night time ones seem to constantly run late, and the company does not care. But the real deal breaker for me is that they are constantly out of stock of really key items. I'm pretty sure that out of my last 5 orders, I have actually gotten lettuce once. It's also at the point at which I AVOID sale items because I know I won't receive half of them. Get it together! Like Carly, I have no clue why this is rated so poorly! I live in Manhattan, so it's difficult to even go out and carry a bunch of groceries back to my apartment. Plus, all these bodegas are so expensive! I started looking around for delivery services and, of course, came across Fresh Direct. I ordered from them once but wasn't impressed with the quality and the price was just as much as I would normally spend. So the next time, I searched around a little more and found Peapod. I probably spent about 35% less on the groceries and the quality was just as good! I couldn't be happier. I've ordered from them four times no and don't see myself shopping for groceries any other way now. I would definitely recommend them to anyone! read more
