The two for $45 dinner special was outstanding. Soup or salad, entree, beverage, and delicious ice cream (yum) for desert.

This has to be the cleanest diner on Long Island. The food taste very fresh. I usually go for breakfast the home fries and bacon are crispy and my over easy eggs are cooked to perfection. The coffee is delicious. When i asked about they said its the same coffee every diner gets. I don't know what they do its just taste better. Finally they took me to a good diner. Oddly enough it's directly across the street from another restaurant we eat at every time I'm in NY. The place is clean, the people are friendly, and the service is pretty good. I had a really tuff time trying to decide what I wanted. The menu has so many things on it that looked good. I ended up going with something I rarely ever, a grilled chicken quesadilla. It came out cut into four pieces with a salad. The salad was very fresh. Other then I think the cheese could of been melted and bit more, it was very good. It's had good flavor and chicken cooked perfect. Be it breakfast lunch dinner brunch just a nice family place. They recently went through a renovation and the place looks beautiful. I just finished packing my leftovers of the pancakes, turkey bacon, egg, and cheese with rye. Everything delicious in a family place like this you can expect to feel like family from the wonderful service that is always there. Just be careful when you get delivery because you get less food then when you go and eat in and they are always leaving something out. If you order a meal that comes with soup or salad and potatoe and vegetable, chances are very good they will not put one of those side dishes in your bag & it always seems to be the one you were looking most forward too. Otherwise except for the driver's cash tip, its fast, free delivery when you all get home tired from work and just want someone to bring you some food and dessert. Never forget the ice cream! Prices are a little high though. The food is plain, diner fare. Nothing spectacular, no special dishes you can't get everywhere else, but we've never gotten something we couldn't eat and had to throw out. read more

I decided to try Mitchell's after driving by it so many times and happy I did. The restaurant is large inside, nothing special with the decor. I ordered pancakes and turkey bacon, the pancakes were really big, almost the size of the plate and really good. The bacon was perfectly cooked. The place was nearly empty but they took a while to come to my table and when he took my order, he started talking to another waiter holding up my order. not good. Im 73 yrs old and a customer since birth.. MITCHELLS HAD A VERY NICE FACELIFT. My wife and I went for breakfast I saw a item on the menu I've never seen before. Seabass and grits . There was several options. Jamie is the head chef. He knows how to cook Fish . This breakfast choice blew my mind the grits cooked to perfection , the seabass perfectly cooked. It's a friendly family based resturant in a day where many lack quality Friday nights during summer they have a car show with classics galore . I have been here twice in the past year and I am shocked by all of the great reviews. This place is just "okay". We had two cheeseburgers with fries and 2 cokes and it was $45 plus tip! At first blush this place does not look like much from the outside. But when you step in it is a bustling fast paced diner that serves really good food with minimal delay. The decor is new. Tables are spaced nicely. My 2 eggs over easy with bacon ant toast were perfectly prepared, no grease to be found.. I was browsing Grubhub to place an order at this restaurant & called to ask about a special request not on the menu. The lady was professional & stated that the restaurant offered delivery services as well. I placed the order with the restaurant directly & was grateful I did. All the food tasted great & was packaged nicely. The delivery person was nice also informed me that I was out of their delivery area, to which I informed him that the lady said I could place it over the phone & it would be delivered. My order total was close to $100. I'll definitely use Grubhub to reorder & I may even visit this establishment as everything was great! We decided to visit this small neighborhood diner after leaving the busy, bustling JFK airport, although this diner isn't near JFK it is nestled in the neighborhood of VALLEY STREAM, L.I. ( NASSAU COUNTY) NY. It was not crowded during the mid evening hours on a weekend, we was able to sit any place we wanted and this is where the issues start . Our seats were not wiped down at all, there were still crumbs, salt etc all over our seats. The bathrooms were not adequately cleaned, floors were soggy & smelly, not sufficient hand towels or paper towels available for use, this is not acceptable for any diner that's not even crowded with minimal patrons inside, clearly someone isn't doing their job !!! Ok so now it's time to order we ask for expresso, latte or coffee, with almond, soy or oat milk , neither was available they only provide coffee with regular MILK in 2023 a diner that only offers regular milk and only coffee should be ashamed of themselves. Our waiter wasn't pleasant at all when we ask specific questions in regard to their coffee options or how our orders will be prepared. The food was awful my wrap was very very very oily and not fresh at all, the wings were very generic miniature without any flavor . We decided not to order drinks and just pay cash & leave. The waiter never came back with the check so we paid at the cashier's desk. OVERALL WE WONT BE RETURNING!! OVERALL FOOD WAS POORLY PREPARED & SERVED, TABLE & SEATS WERE NOT SANITIZED / CLEANED, bathrooms were POORLY CLEANED!!!! I have eaten here before never a disappointment today in particular we were surprised by the decor they set up for Halloween and we partook of the owners daughters announcement of that they were having a baby,with that said, the owner celebrated by giving everyone in the restaurant a piece of celebratory cake. Happy new year with a hidden gem of a restaurant. When we walked in we were greeted by a smiling face that was so welcoming. We were seated the wait staff was attentive and helpful with the menu with out being pushy. The decor was beautiful and even though it was full in the dining area we didn't wait long for the amazing breakfast. Yummy, (it was so good I dug in and forgot pictures) The bathrooms are clean. Great family owned and operated establishment. The food is good and the staff is friendly. They handled our group of 7 ladies with care. I had the lox omelet with a toasted bagel and a side of sausage. Everything was perfect . The prices are affordable even in this time of inflation. Had the best of time at this establishment. Went here spontaneously for breakfast one morning with my sister and parents. We all decided to have something to eat. This place is in Long Island which still has sit down "in house" dining. The service was great and the food that was served was even better. I'm a huge fan of grits and those things are hit or miss. Usually the service is good when Cathy is there... I went there after her shift... the server and the food was unbelievable horrible. I asked for well cooked eggs, they were droopy, asked for cheddar cheese- he brings me American cheese slices, my bacon that I asked for well done was undercooked... the French fries were warm not fresh... what a sucky experience. My friend treated me, so I tried not to complain. Lost my appetite and had to take the food home to put in my air fryer. The server, Santos, offered to change my food, but I know when they change the food once, the second time you send it back- you get something extra... no thanks.
