From the look of it, they might have been sitting on the counter for a while since the skin was kinda dry. The bun itself was warm and soft. The filling was good. - Singaporean Vermicelli: surprisingly tasted good. The curry flavor was prominent but not overwhelming. There were lots of egg pieces. The portion was quite big too for the price. - Sweet & sour chicken with fried rice: the chicken pieces were crispy but lots of batter and only small pieces of chicken inside the nugget. Tried this place for the first time because of comps. My favorite would be the cream cheese ragoons, but it needs the regular sweet and sour sauce to go with it. The lettuce wraps were good, but the way they prepared the lettuce, it was so hard to take a part. Initially I was in the mood for some milk tea, so when I asked around the casino I was directed to this restaurant. The pictures they had at the front for the dish I got were what drew me in. We were greeted quickly and sat down with no wait. For a Saturday night it didn't seem too busy, but we were eating later into dinner time. The table was still a little wet from being wiped down, but nothing I'm not used to from working in restaurants. Our server was friendly and took our order in a timely manner, but where my experience started to fall apart is when I received my food. The portion size for my meal was laughable. I got a thin cut up piece of chicken, a large scoop of white rice, and not even a moderate amount of red onions and cucumbers. The only item in my plate that would justify a high price is the chicken, but the size and flavor didn't come close to warranting a $25 price tag. I will say that some of of this falls on me, since there was a picture, but I've been conditioned over years of eating out that the picture doesn't always match, so I guess I just had a little bit of hope. My Thai tea was standard at least, with a good amount of tapioca, but I would've liked less ice since it was $7. Will probably not be coming back here since I can only imagine that the rest of the menu is probably overpriced as well. The food was good, the atmosphere was ok, but the service was abysmal. Coming in for the start of the Chinese New Year may have been a mistake, but we wanted to dine here on that evening. The interior is kind of a 'staged' Asian interior, with a combination of booths and tables throughout. We were seated quickly, given menus, but then sat for a very long time waiting for SOMEONE to come talk with us. We typically would space out our orders so it all would not come out at once, but since we waited for so long, we decided we had better order it all now or we may never see the server again. The prices are pretty darn high for basic Asian food. But, on the positive side, you do get served a large portion. I visited this restaurant today when they first open and I ordered the Korean-style beef ribs, but the staff brought out ribs that were brunt She even knowledge that it was brunt but still brought out for us to eat. OMG ! Took the waitress 30 minutes before taking our order and another about 20 minutes before our appetizers came out.. our dinner there took 1.5 hours for no reason. Food was mediocre. I did love the cream cheese wonton even though I wished they had a different sweet n sour sauce with it. We had the lettuce wrap, which was delicious but the lettuce was hard to take apart. Not bad for a a Monday night * Their hot n sour soup is the best one I can find so far around Folsom n South Sac area. * Peking Duck is perfect crispy skin , well done seasoning, tender juicy meat. Goes well with green onion and sweet hoisin sauce. I usually take a little bit of everything and stuff in the bun. I'm currently sick, so my husband went to the only nearby place to pick up pho for me. When he got home and we opened the bag, we realized the broth was completely missing -- it was just the noodles and a container of greens. He went back to let them know, but the woman at the counter said they no longer had the broth because it was now dinnertime. She handed him something "similar," but it wasn't the same. As he walked away, he noticed the container was leaking. When he went back again, she simply handed him an empty container -- no apology, no effort to fix the issue properly, and no refund offered. Had a casino night for my birthday this year and kicked off with dinner at Pearl Asian since it was basically open late (the other restaurants on site were closed). We had a fairly large group, and were fortunately seated quickly. Ambience of the place was nice with some warm lighting, of course more on the upscale side of things. Our group ordered the following: - HK Crispy Noodle Combo: decent to me, but the guys in our group seemed to like it. They thought the texture was good. - Salt & Pepper Squid: I liked this and thought it would have been extremely good it we had a side of vinegar or other sauce that would complement it. Lighter than most places in terms of taste. - Honey Walnut Prawns: this one was probably my personal favorite. Tasty and a great pair alongside devouring the fried rice! - Fried Rice: can never go wrong with this -- always a good base when eating family style at a Chinese place. - Wor Wonton Soup: simple. I think this def could have been better -- something about it tasted watered down. - General Chicken: flavorful enough to keep eating with the fried rice! Tried this place while at the casino. The waiter was amazing as I wanted an aperol spritz and he went next door to the steakhouse bar and had them bring me one. We had a large group and the waiter was extremely patient. We had several plates amongst my favorites: lumpia, sweet and sour egg soup, Mongolian beef and orange chicken to name a few. We've dined at Pearl Asian Cuisine @ Red Hawk Casino several times. The ambiance is elegant yet casual. There are cozy booths and plenty of tables for small and large parties. The wait staff don uniforms and provide attentive, friendly service - which is practically non-existent at many casual restaurants. The food has been outstanding at every visit. We've tried their salt and pepper squid, beef chow fun, mapo tofu, and Aberdeen style fish. The salt and pepper squid is deep-fried goodness. And the mapo tofu is slightly spicy and delicious. We keep coming back for the beef chow fun (rice noodles with a great balance of flavor and wok breath) and the Aberdeen style fish (lightly breaded fish fillets with dried black beans, garlic, jalapeños, and red/green bell peppers). Worst customer service.. The manager needs to be fired asked if they could make an item they have on their happy hour willing to pay whatever the cost. He flat out lied to me and said that they can't make it anymore since it was 15 minutes past happy hour time. When in fact, I know they have all the ingredients and could've easily made it instead they lost the business from me and my friends. Shame on him. No gluten free options. They modified a steak dish for me to exclude the sauce and just season with salt and pepper to make it gluten free. The meat was sautéed with peppers and onions, and an ungodly amount of cooking oil. Probably canola oil. I have the worst stomach ache from it and wish I would have just ordered water. I do want to say that the gentleman that waited on me was very, very nice. That is the good part. The bad part is the food was truly horrible. I had wontan soup, crispy egg rolls and mongolian chicken. The soup broth was bland and tasted like it had rancid sesame oil in it. I did attempt to eat 1 wonton, and it had chewy icky bits in it, and a flavor that was very unpleasant. So that one was unfinished, then I tried the egg rolls, same issue. It seems like everything is cooked in rancid oil. It had a weird taste and the vegetables were mushy. Finally, the Mongolian chicken was a huge serving, but was also inedible. I ate one piece of stringy tasteless chicken. I definitely won't be back. Disappointing, because I rarely spend time here to eat. read more

In 2013 (perhaps earlier), "The Pearl" (Asian Cuisine), once was a five restaurant. When it was up there, the food was suburb, service was excellent, the ambiance was very classy, the Walnut Shrimp plus the Pho soup was delicious, along with the Sushi. Since 2020, The Pearl has been relocated to the 2nd floor where nothing looks, smells, tastes like it did upstairs. The service disappointed us, could not get the pho soup like it used to be made. The closest to it is in the High Limit Bar. Yet that's nothing comparable either. The Sushi doesn't look or taste the same, so we've abandoned our search for that wonderful flavor & taste. I often wonder what makes a new management company (from Los Vegas), change a perfectly smooth oiled machine, to one that is nothing near it's namesake. This dining experience was perfect. I have no complaints. My favorite lobster dish is the ginger and scallion. The portion size was huge. The lobster was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the sauce and it paired very well with steamed rice. The price did increase from $100 to $120. This is not typical as a vast majority of restaurants had increased the prices of their seafood. I always enjoy the Peking duck. It was crispy, tender, and full of flavor. The hot and sour soup was prepared perfectly as well. It was evenly balanced between hot and sour. The consistency was on point as well. We always go to Red Hawk but it took us some time to finally try out this restaurant because it's never open or we can never get a reservation. I made sure to inquire when we got there for an appointment later on in the evening. My parents took some time to join me because they were gambling but service was quick-- we got the wonton soup, calamari, fried rice, and eggplant tofu. I didn't want to go to the buffet since we were going next month already, so we opted out for this restaurant. They have original Chinese dishes, which looked better on print than in person. We ordered the salted fish fried rice, honey walnut prawns, fried wontons with cream cheese, and the hot and sour soup. The salted fish fried rice with chicken was so disappointing... the fish in the fried rice tasted like they opened up a can and dumped it into the rice. It also tasted like they used a handful of the salt Morton girl and dumped it in there. The fried wontons were a solid 2 just because you cannot mess up frying wontons with cream cheese inside. I wished they had put imitation crabmeat inside though. :( the hot and sour soup portion was small... enough for one person. There was a slight taste of how it's supposed to taste like, but it wasn't strong enough like the original recipes. The honey walnut prawns were good, they did a really good job -- as they should. Other than that, our server was sweet and attentive. I just don't understand why they had so many workers when it wasn't busy yet we still didn't get our change for the check until 10 minutes later (it wasn't busy and they had multiple workers standing at the front). I actually didn't know I was going to be here today, something happened earlier in the day that made me go here. To be honest, I haven't been here in over a decade. I'm only going to be here for tonight. I don't be out here as much as I used to. I used to go to Koto Buffet for the brunches sometimes. There used to be a very good Mexican restaurant here that permanently closed a few years ago. I stopped going to the Casino here for a few months. I have nothing to do with this Casino now. I rather take my gaming and business somewhere else. When I got here it was really empty for a Sunday. This isn't really Chinese or Chinese takeout. This should specifically be categorized as Cantonese cuisine. I had to do the Lemon Chicken again. And this isn't a regular Chow Mein or Lo Mein, this is a Hong Kong Chow Mein. I see some uncultured people out there try to use the term Chow Mein and Lo Mein interchangeably. While Lo Mein is always a rounded noodle, Chow Mein can be either rounded or flat. This is Southern style cooking. I'm surprised the stir-fried noodles had King Trumpet Mushrooms in it. This Mushroom isn't always in season, but when they are it's a great addition. The Lemon Chicken was slightly better than some Lemon Chicken I had. The Chicken was moist, very crunchy, the sliced Lemon made it extra Lemony, and the Sauce was super thick. The noodles were flavorful, and I can tell it was cooked in a wok. I also had to get the Banana Cream Tart for dessert. The Tart is scrumptious, it really reminds me of that frozen Chocolate covered Banana at the Ice Cream shop at the Wharf. This a good meal before I go back to the North Bay tomorrow. I noticed how there's a new Red Hawk Travel Center down the road, that wasn't there the last time I was here and I'm going to check that out after this. A few weeks ago I had it $13 + 4 for chicken and we both thought it was delicious with a great sauce and the fried rice had good flavor. We both ordered it today and it had to be a substitute cook or something because it was incredibly bland, both stir fry and no flavor at all fried rice! Someone forgot any seasonings. Vegetables so dry my wife asked for extra sauce and shouldn't have bothered as what was brought out was so close to thick tasteless dishwater, seemingly a tiny bit of chicken stock and glutinous thickening agent with no discernable seasoning. Regret we didn't just send it back. Leftovers may be improved with a good shot of seseme teriyaki sauce! With the number of aisan customers their standards need much improvement. Pearl is your typical Asian restaurant in a Casino; way over priced and menu is more suited for the American taste. I love authentic Chinese food but unfortunately my Chinese is not so authentic. Most Chinese restaurants have pictures on their menu or description in English so it's easier when I want the more authentic food. I noticed that more and more restaurants, like this one, like to put the basic on their menu even though they can offer stuff not on the menu...if you know how to order it in Chinese or explain it in English so that they would understand. Well, probably better off not knowing anyway because it would probably cost an arm and a leg. The food was not bad but unless I'm super craving for Chinese food, I probably eat elsewhere. To give you an idea, we ordered the dry scallop fried rice for $14.99; most restaurants charge $11.95. We also order the salt and pepper prawns, which was super delicious, but it cost us $18.99 compared to $12.95 at any local Chinese restaurant in Sacramento.
