We came right at opening on Saturday but it looks like they opened a bit earlier as there were two other parties seated already. We were seated right away as a party of 2. Service was prompt. We ordered a small hot and sour soup and it was more than enough for both of us. We also ordered the dim sum basket and the wok. A little bummed the bistro plates aren't available on the weekends since we weren't a big enough party to do family style. The dim sum basket included 10 pieces and the wok was delicious! They offer inside or outside dining options. A full bar with tvs displaying various professional sporting events. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. The service was helpful, attentive, and friendly. Clearing dishes when finished. Fat's Wor Won Ton Soup: chicken breast, shrimp, bbq pork, shrimp & pork won ton, vegetables in a chicken broth (4/5). The ingredients were tasty, however, the soup was lukewarm. So, that means the soup was sitting there for awhile before being served to us. Filet Mignon Steak Kew: hand-cut cubed filet mignon with seasonal vegetables, roasted garlic in a black bean sauce (4/5). Very flavorful and delicious. Orange Chicken: with chili orange sauce (4/5). Deep fried piece in a orange with slight hint of heat. Honey Walnut Prawns: glazed with honey sauce, walnuts, sesame seeds (4/5). Slightly crunchy medium sized prawns in a traditional and tasty sauce. The portion size on each dish was large especially the honey walnut prawns and orange chicken. We were all full yet it didn't look like we made a dent into the dishes. 2x Fat's Famous Banana Cream Pie: fresh bananas layered in a rich egg custard and flaky crust, topped with fresh whipped cream (5/5). This review is strictly for the Banana Cream Pie and for the young man up front who had me acting out of character over a Strawberry Cream Pie. Listen, on a real bad day, I'll pour some bourbon neat. But on a regular bad day? Banana cream pie from Fats will have me forgetting my problems real quick. I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted, two slices of Banana Cream Pie. No distractions. No new friends. No plot twists. I couldn't wait to get home to have me some silky banana cream pie (lol). Then here comes the young man at the front, asking if I've tried their strawberry pie. Sir... stay focused. I said no, asked if he tried it, and if it was actually worth betraying my original order. He said he liked it. That slice of strawberry pie made it into my order. Ambiance is gorgeous inside here. Their service is especially great but we had experienced change of shift so we may have been forgotten somewhat? Food was Americanized Chinese & tasty. If you want true Chinese food you might try a different restaurant. Bc my wife had somewhat limited food selections she had to exclude some food choices so at times the dish appeared somewhat empty. It's very apparent so maybe make a different selection or even a different restaurant. My salad was just ok nothing to write home about. Would we return? Maybe...it is a beautiful restaurant inside! Last week of June, 2026. OMG, what has happened to this place, where do I begin? Let's start with the women's restroom. Ick! What a mess! I had to look at that prior to eating. Speaking of eating, I ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad which could have used the following: cilantro, green onions, fried rice noodles, some type of nuts, sesame seeds, and a decent dressing which didn't taste like teriyaki. Seventeen dollars for big chunks of lettuce and chicken was a huge disappointment. My friend ordered the Chicken Chow Mein, also for $17, and it was just average with it's thin noodles. Something has happened to Fat's. When they first opened at this location, so many years ago, they were a destination restaurant, now they are just a pit stop. read more

We took the MIL to Fats for a pre-birthday dinner since hers is on Thanksgiving this year. This restaurant has been a staple in Folsom for a long time, sadly we haven't been here in ages. Which gave a perfect opportunity for this review. There is ample parking. Inside is decorated beautifully and plenty of booths and tables to accommodate large and small parties. They also have a bar area with televisions for sports fans. Our server was friendly and very efficient. Bring an empty belly because Fats serves family style and their portions are generous. We dined on won ton soup, garlic noodles, orange chicken, and pork fried rice. They even celebrated my MIL's birthday with a complimentary slice of their famous banana cream pie to her delight. Came here on a Sunday for lunch and not busy at all so we were seated quickly. Our waitress informed us they do family style with the plates since it was our first time here. We ordered four dishes and did have some leftover to take home but I was expecting a lot bigger dishes. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and beef chow fun. The shrimp was really good! I liked the crisp from the lightly fried batter and the amount of sauce was good. The beef chow fun was too salty for my liking. My sister ordered the Kung pao shrimp and bulgogi lo mein but I was too full to try her food. I also got a slice of banana cream pie to go since Fats is known for their pie. I was pleasantly surprised by the food at Fats! Came here for a company lunch and was sat in a back room. The long table was able to accommodate all 25 of us. We came on a Tuesday and ordered food from the Fat Tuesdays specials. We were able to call and order ahead of hand, which was helpful when ordering for such a big party. Such a wonderful experience. I went here with my husband and grandmother and we had a great time. We each got something off their Tuesday menu where everything is $17 and the portions were perfect. I got a sour watermelon margarita and it was so delicious I just had to get two. The emperors garden is a delicious meal for vegetarians as it offers a wide range of vegetables. You can also add tofu, which was cooked perfectly! Highly recommend Fats for anyone looking for something more upscale and intimate. Was really craving hot and sour soup so placed an order for 2 orders of soup Mongolian beef and orange chicken (which their website said was one of the most popular dishes. ) The soup was OK, but the chicken was so tough we didn't eat it. My husband said the Mongolian beef was just OK. Ambiance was nice, like a upscale, PF Chang copy cat restaurant. Noise level was also not loud, beautiful decorations and spacious. The server was as attentive as he could be. He was also bar-tending at the same time, as serving the tables at the bar area. We ordered a few items in the Happy Hour menu, as it was only around 4pm: neither lunch or dinner. The presentation was quite nice. However, all dishes were quite bland. California roll was only 4 pieces. If the chefs put slight more effort into the flavors of the all the dishes, I would have given 4 stars. Ribs were too salty. The fried rice could use a bit more salt. The pot stickers could have been pan fried slightly more for a crispier texture outside. The chicken could have more salt. And I do not eat very salty food too. Definitely a place I would not purposely come, driving a long way. It was convenient and just there. Parking was easy too, a covered one level garage, or plenty of outside parking. read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! Yes, Fat's Asia Bistro is very "WOW" worthy! And after an incredible lunch with the Girl Friends, I feel compelled to sing its praises! It has definitely been a minute since my last visit to this beautiful restaurant! Before Covid, for sure. Why has it taken this long to return? I plead the Fifth:) On point customer service, fabulous food and drinks in such elegant surroundings. I arrived before my Sacramento girlfriends! They are actually the ones who selected Fat's for our much needed gettogether and food date. And I thank them for that. It was the reacquaintance I needed to put Fat's back on my dining and happy hour circuit. Greeted so warmly by Ben, who was the ultimate one-band man, welcoming committee! He patiently let me look around to decide upon the perfect place to conduct "girl" business over drinks and food! He even suggested the best of the best tables for that very important agenda:). After peeking outside at some nicely shaded tables and the main dining room, I decided upon a high top table in the bar where no patrons had yet landed. Such a show stopper of a bar! Gorgeous. As I sat, Whitney, the bartender, was there in a flash. The great customer service just keeps on coming! There is no need to look at the drink menu. When I am at any of the "Fat's" restaurant locations, one of the award winning Mai Tai's is always in order. Always! I enjoyed watching Whitney mix up her potion for me as she was the front and center entertainment. And it was wonderful! Exotically delicious! Thank you, Whitney! The Girls arrived ready for drinks and food! Again, our lovely bartender and server, Whitney, was table side and taking drink requests. So, I have reviewed the 5-star ambiance and customer service. Let us talk food! Menu highlights include Chinese, Asian Fusion, and Seafood staples. There are so many items from which to choose! Those starter chicken and spring onion pot stickers were delicious. They hit the spot with the just perfect temperature, glass of SB. Our main meal order consisted of stir fry Garlic Green Beans, Mongolian Baby Back Ribs, and Hong Kong Special Chow Mein. All three dishes were superb! Hot! Fresh! Delicious! 5-plus stars! The ribs were mouth-watering. Wok-tossed with a Mongolian glaze. So meaty. We were licking the glaze off our fingers:). The presentation was beautiful. Without asking, Whitney brought us steamy, wet cloth napkins, which we gladly accepted and appreciated. The green beans were garlicky and cooked to perfection. The sauce was addictive. Yum! The HK Special chow mein consisted of shrimp, scallops, chicken, barbecued pork, and vegetables over soft pan-friend noodles . So satisfying! This is food I remember loving before Covid. My dining experience today reminded me of what I have been missing. There is a Happy Hour, which I look forward to returning to soon! My favorite Mai Tai is on HH list! Woohoo! And should you have room for dessert, we all know about the famous banana cream pie. This is a classy, upscale restaurant with first-class servers and spectacular inside architectural features. The food is simply not to be missed! While casual is the dress code, it just feels like you should be dressed to the nines as they say. Even the restrooms are lovely and so clean. We had reservations for 1230p. My Neice arrived on time, it took 45mins for her to get WATER!!!!! We arrived around 1240p...never saw waiter for another 30 minutes..We had to go to check in where NO ONE was there to ask where is our Waiter!!! My friends and I love this is place. They have a great happy hour. The food is delicious with an Asian flair instead of just Chinese, which has a lot of sugar. They have traditional Chinese as well, but I prefer the healthier options. The house wine, red or white is very good as well. Would recommend them for sure. read more

Stopped for dinner Friday evening, this place gives a PF Changs vibe with palm trees in the middle of the dinning room. The food it self was tasteful, we ordered some appetizers and tea to start with and our dinner over all was tasteful, but going to a restaurant is more than just the food. I found Fats to be lacking pride in its overall service. The bathrooms were dirty, trash bins full, no toilet paper or seat covers and trash on the floor. It was clear no one had bothered to check the bathrooms in the last few hours of the day and maintain the bathrooms clean. The dinning room itself, also had dirty floors, I watched them cleaned a table with a towel they had used on a previous table with what I could assume was dirty water since they brought it from a previous table and proceeded to dust off and wipe all remaining food and crumbs into the floor from the now empty table, with the same towel. The trash was left all over the floor. Our table had left over specks of something left after a wipe down before we were seated. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, the food tasteful, however I found the overall experience lacking. A clean restaurant is important, perception is everything. Even if you're an hour away from closing. I believe until the place is closed and the last customer has left, a business needs to maintain professional appearance. read more

Sadly, one of the most disappointing visits to Fat's. My wife and I have been loyal patrons of Fat's for many years. On Friday, February 20th, I was surprising my wife with a lunch reservation. We were seated promptly and are request for a table was honored. The waiter was friendly, but after our order was placed, he only came by twice one time to check with us, but only to see if we wanted to order something from the bar. And the final time to deliver the bill. All the other contacts were with the bus staff, who were very accommodating. We ordered the Mongolian beef, the Imperial chicken fried rice and salt and pepper chicken. The salt and pepper chicken was very good, but the Imperial fried rice was bland and very sub-par the Mongolian beef was tough and not prepared with any thought to the quality that we have enjoyed in the past. Other than the salt and pepper chicken the other two dishes were what may be expected at an inexpensive Chinese bargain buffet. We have come to expect much better food quality and service, but this time we left disappointed and not happy with our experience. You may be thinking why didn't we bring this to the attention of the server or manager, but by the time we saw the server at the end of the meal we were having to move on with the rest of our day. read more

The restaurant itself is lovely... elegant, with high ceilings and huge palms in the main dining room (they could use a dusting just fyi). The staff is attentive and we were seated and served very quickly. The apps were good - my husband LOVED the panko-crusted calamari and the Rangoon was yummy. The shrimp dumplings were just warm, so I'm assuming they were frozen and not made fresh. Kind of a bummer. Entrees were garlic spicy string beans (delish) and the crowning jewel of Fat's - the honey walnut shrimp mmmm! So, the food feels super formulaic but maybe that's the point? Came here last night after our daughters soccer game! We made reservations for 7 and we sat in the back room area. The soft lighting gives a romantic ambiance. The food was delicious we started off with garlic edamame, pork buns & shui mai. All of our entrees were served one by one not having our meals together.
