SHUT UP! There used to be a wonderful Chinese in Elk Grove (now closed for a few years sadly) and I saw the Yelp photos and was like 'yup this looks like the wonderful I know!' My beef and broccoli was horrible I love Chinese food o e of my favorite foods in the world beef was seared with black marks .my paper wrap chicken which I placed 3 orders of was not only a bite of chicken in it .the white paper was stuck on the chicken could not get it off u would have had to eat the paper with it .i grew up here this place was the best ever in 1998 whT happened . Came here while staying in the area for a quick late lunch. Found the place on Yelp. When we got to the restaurant, we were seated right away for a group of 6. The menu was your normal Chinese restaurant menu and lots of options. Was sad to miss the lunch special but as I was browsing through the menu, I saw the combination section and im telling you this is the gem. We ordered our own food, and for me it was the general chicken combo plate. I feel like I hit the jackpot on this. The plate was huge, came w crab ragoon, noodles, beef fried rice, the chicken in huge portions and great value. I've been craving Chinese food and this honestly hit the spot. Came here for lunch today with my bestie. Seated immediately. Water brought right away. I ordered the lunch special cashew chicken with steamed rice and a side of chow mein. Started out with the salad with vinegarette dressing, yum, then came the egg drop soup, again, yum. The cashew chicken was delicious with lotsa chicken and vegetables. Rice, perfect, egg roll, yum, chow mein. My bestie got the chicken chow mein, said it was delicious. The lunch specials are $11.95. And we each took home half of our meals for dinner. 2 meals each for $6! Deal! I need to go more often as it's only 3 miles from my house. Food was absolutely horrible. Chow mein main was kind of okay.Maybe a three out of five. Then I got hot garlic sauce beef which was terrible it was sweet and sticky and had no vegetables and the beef was dry and chewy we ate about a quarter of it and threw the rest out. I feel that I know this restaurant fairly well having been there often enough in the past three summers I've spent in the area. The food is consistently good and May, the lady that seems to be there all the time is such a personable presence. In my observations, she appears to have such a personal connection with many of the regulars. The name says it all. It was a bit of a drive from where I live, but a pleasant one & well worth it. I can vouch for the General's Chicken (I've been sampling this dish in many places for 40 years), pork chow mein & the honey walnut prawns. It was all fresh & delicious. I've been going here for years and always had a great food experience. For the past couple years prices have gone way up. I used to stop on my way home from work quite often for a combo rice plate. The past 4 or 5 times, the chicken chow mein had no chicken, the pork fried rice had no pork. I ordered house chow fun, it had 3 pieces of chicken, no beef, or shrimp. Mind you, I paid for house chow fun, not chicken chow fun. My cashew chicken had no cashews. My Wor Won ton soup had no veggies or shrimp. What in the world is going on??? I thought it was just an oversight but it keeps happening and I hate giving 2 stars but we should get what we paid for. Sorry Wonderful...I hope you get it together. read more

The cream cheese wontons are very disappointing. The red dipping sweet sauce was refrigerated cold. Hardly anything in them too. Service was good. The main protein, for me cashew chicken had really good flavor. Everything else was bland to me. $60 worth of food and I didn't take anything home.
