I got the spa package for a Christmas gift and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I was there like 4 hours for a massage, facial, pedicure and manicure. I got lunch which was included and I got to relax in the lounge between each thing which had water and tea. You can also get alcoholic beverages as well. I definitely will be going back again. It's near impossible to actually get a time booked. I received a gift certificate for here and spent the last two months trying to book an appointment. After scheduling, having it cancelled, scheduling again, having it canceled AGAIN, I somehow managed to get an appointment super early in the morning. When I had to reschedule this time, they charged me %50 of the appointment. Do not buy a gift certificate for here, your wasting your money. Edit: since there's no reply in yelp, I'll do it here- My girlfriend just wanted to get me a massage for Christmas. I'm sure there is some internal business policy that justifies your multiple cancellations and charges, but ultimately I just wanted a massage and due to your policies we weren't able to make that happen. I am appalled at the service we got here before a service was even done. First you have to go online and type a ton of personal information in to make an appointment, which is annoying. Then less than an hour later, they cancelled the appointment with no reason. Got a generic email back saying "the appointment could have been cancelled for a variety of reasons." When we called we talked to Maggie, who was so rude it was unfathomable. We called to inquire why the appointment was cancelled she said "we don't give reasons over email" with a snotty attitude and asked for our phone number yet again after we provided all of our information. Then she hung up on us and refused to have her manager call us back. We will be letting our friends know that the staff is rude here and not to come. I literally never leave bad reviews, but this is gross negligence to customers. We would have been new clients and this is not how you treat people who are newly interested in your business. TLDR: This place has a strange risk management policy and apparently if your neck hurts, they won't give you a massage. I was in a car accident recently and needed a massage for a neck strain. My first two experiences were positive. It's a nice enough atmosphere, though I found the rooms themselves a little cold. I got a lot of relief from the second massage with Melissa. What I did not know is that she wrote in my chart that I needed a MRI. Massage therapists are not typically the providers to make such a referral, nor do I think they are actually qualified to do so. Fast forward a couple months: I'm feeling pretty good with physical therapy and massage from a different provider. However, I went on a long car ride that bugged my neck, so I made a weekend appointment with the Pearl and a different LMT. I was disrobed and on the table when she announced that she would not give me a massage because the prior LMT said I needed a MRI and it was my fault I didn't follow through. I explained to her that I was under the care of both my primary care doctor (whose referral paperwork was apparently lost by the Pearl Day Spa staff) and a physical therapist, and that none of them thought I needed an MRI. It's puzzling, because people seek massage for pain. And they were then denying me services because my neck hurt. It was a frustrating, embarrassing situation. When I contacted the manager, she told me that she stood behind her therapists (again, therapists don't make imaging referrals - that's what doctors do) and then she coldly told me to stick with my current providers. Read: don't come back. So I won't, and I wouldn't recommend that you do, either. read more

People of Eugene, read all of this! PDS is truly at its worst... My mom, sister, and I have been loyal customers since 2001. As of today we will not give this business another penny... My mom and sister scheduled a fun spa day to include a massage and facial each. Original appointment was on 10/20. My sister took time off work for the appointment. PDS called hours before to cancel saying all techs were sick. Offered 20% off next service. Business rescheduled for 11/03... but could only fit one of them in for services. Offered next service 20% for inconvenience. 11/03 3 hours before appointment business calls to cancel saying all techs are sick again, but could get 1/2 of a facial in.... what's 1/2 of a facial? Business offered another (3rd) 20% off service to be rescheduled. New appointment on 11/14... Can you guess what happened? PDS called AGAIN cancelling appointment. My sister was done, went into the business to talk to the manager. Not available so requested a call back. Manager Lily, mentioned the business doesn't provide refunds, but gift cards could be used towards products. Since this place has given my sister a panic attack, I went in to use the gift card on products at PDS I though she would enjoy... when I got home the Yonka facial oil I purchased had been expired since 07/19.....$62 oil expired. Pearl Day Spa... most of the hardworking people of Eugene see going to the spa as a luxury...but your failure to provide services when scheduled and rescheduled on top of selling expired products is unacceptable! What's the point of offering 20% off services (3xs) if the business doesn't plan to keep the appointments??? Smells fraudulent and expired like my oli.... 12/04/19 To answer back to PDS response of my business review...you have offered a standard business operation in a return for an expired product. I called to set up appointments for my daughter and I for her birthday. I left a message (a couple of times) and finally received a text asking what services I wanted. It timed me out a couple of times but then I thought I finally made it through the signup link. I even received an email thanking me for creating an account. When I called to confirm my appointments, they were not in the system. This is clearly a terrible way to make appointments and I was left scrambling to find another spa at the last minute. Scheduled a pedicure via their app and was happy with the ease of the process. I got an email (or was it a text?j back shortly after confirming the appointment. Parking here is generally on the street, so you have to be prepared to pay the meter. There are a few customer parking spaces but nothing that will fit a full sized pickup. I checked in and was ushered to the waiting room which was nice. Several comfy chairs, salt rock lamps, magazines and a few products. They also have water and tea available. Overall, this was a nice place to relax and get in the mood for whatever service you're here for. My technician was wonderful, actually knew a few of the same people in town. We had good conversation and she did a fantastic job. My reason for only 3 stars is because of the quality of the foot baths and chairs. They use large copper tubs with warm water which cools faster and doesn't have a whirlpool. The chairs have no knee support, although they do offer a knee bolster. I personally prefer the newer style other "modern" spas have. If I could have modern pedi chairs in the cool vibe spa, I'd be here all the time. read more

It's okay here, depending on what services you're getting and who you get. Some massage therapists are of course better than others, and also depending on your needs. Facials are pretty good, fairly limited to the normal stuff and peels. I dislike being pressured about "products" and mostly you dont get the hard sell here and I really appreciate that. One of the only "spa" type experiences you can get here in this town, so it's got that going for it. I've been unimpressed with their booking process, as their front desk seems to never answer the phone. The atmosphere is quaint and fairly relaxing, bordering a bit on shabby chic/grandmas house a bit. For spa services, the Pearl will come through for you and you'll probably feel good, but there's probably nothing that will wow you about it. read more

If it's relaxation and healing you're looking for then this is not a place you want to go. I've read the other negative reviews here with which I totally agree - and I've also read the often snide, condescending responses from the spa manager. Wow what a lesson in how to NOT run a business. That in itself should tell you how their egomaniacal image of themselves as some kind of relaxing oasis is their only concern and not the experience or needs of their clients. It's more like an assembly line than a spa. You absolutely cannot reach a human being here, and if you give up trying to book an appointment and realize that there are multiple spas in town that are exponentially nicer, friendlier and more customer oriented, and decide to hang up and call another spa, creepily the Pear Day Spa's AI contacts you by text anyway - even if you didn't leave a message! The AI asks you multiple questions, an annoying, invasive and time-consuming experience - more time consuming than scheduling complex surgery with a renowned surgeon! As for me, after wasting an epic amount of time to try and schedule a "relaxing treatment" I typed a message back to the AI that it wasn't worth the time it was taking to fill out its questionnaires and try to get through to them, and to please have a PERSON call me. But then I got yet another text from either a passive aggressive AI or, more likely, an ill-trained real person telling me, unbelievably, that I was #10 in line and would I please just write a short description of what I wanted! I want to add that weeks before, after being given a birthday gift certificate and unable to get anyone to pick up the phone and talk to me when the gift certificate never arrived and my friend who bought me the gift certificate was annoyed because she, too, couldn't reach anyone, I finally drove over to the spa to sort it out. But instead of help, I was met by another ill trained, rude young woman, who first kept me waiting while she chatted with someone, then was unbelievably rude and unhelpful, shaming me in front of another guest who was in the minuscule lobby, refusing to give me a duplicate gift certificate, telling me dismissively as if I were bothering her, to just come in the day of the service and tell them I'd been given a gift certificate. When I asked her what to do if at the time of service they wouldn't see me without the certificate she brushed me off rudely with one of those "Unfortunately that's our policy..." So back to my experience today - after the AI's text I got telling me I was #10, I responded to the text that I was finished trying to chase them down, and was shocked when a real person actually called me! I do believe it was the same young receptionist who'd been so rude to me in person but I'm not sure. She then, even more unbelievably, she accused me of lying about having been there before! She said she "checked my record" and couldn't find past appointments. No apology, no conciliation - just rude, snide and unprofessional accusation/lecturing. I told her that her audacity in accusing me of lying, and her truly unprofessional tone and behavior were emblematic of a business that didn't care about their clients, that the stress of just trying to book an appointment was so not worth it and I asked that my friend who bought me the gift certificate be given a refund. She started another lecture about "our policy won't allow this" and I interrupted her, told her that this is why people go onto the internet and tell people about their bad experiences with businesses... and she cut me off, hung up on me and when I tried to text back to the AI to please have the manager call me - I received a message that the real life rude girl I'd spoken with had marked me as having used bad words - or some such ridiculousness - and it wouldn't take my message. So now I have to tell my upset friend that she needs to report the spa to the better business bureau or just lose her money. She's a busy internist and surely won't have the time or desire to go through hours of dealing with rude, incompetent receptionists or even worse having to have multiple exchanges with an AI. SO in conclusion, I suggest to those of you looking for a spa in town that you read the comments above and find another spa if you are seeking relaxation and a healing experience. And to the manager who most probably will respond here condescendingly as he, she or it has to others who complained - you might instead consider doing something counterintuitive and actually apologize and try to do better and train people who know how to deal with other human beings. And most of all hire a living being human whose responsibility it is to deal with clients, book appointments and not make people feel as if they're #10 in line at the DMV. There are enough stresses in the world and people seek a spa experience to try to alleviate some of the stress, not create more of it. read more

This was my 1st visit to the Pearl Day Spa. I can't believe I hadn't been before! I had a mini pedi/Mani and a 1 1/2 hour deep tissue massage. What a treat! The ambiance was quiet, peaceful and the decor included beautiful artwork from local artists. My hands and nails were well cared for and the massage was absolutely excellent! I spend an afternoon getting a 1.5 hr facial and an 1.5hr hot stone massage. The place is very quaint and relaxing. Some tea is served, some nuts and honey were available. The front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. The facial was excellent and my esthetician Andrea was The Best! She made me feel special and truly pampered me. As a matter of fact, I already scheduled another facial with her. There was plenty of time in between the facial and massage to have some more tea, lounge around in the bathrobe they provided and chill a bit. Next came the Hot Stone massage by Brittany. Unfortunately it was not quite as nice and relaxing as the Facial was, or as I remembered it from some time ago. The stones were too hot and I had to ask several times to cool them down a bit. I even ended up with two marks on the front on my thighs where the stones left a hot mark. She asked several times if the temperature was okay and I guess I should've been more assertive about cooling them down more. She proceeded to tell me what kind of exercise/ stretching she recommends me doing. I know that is not her profession to do so, she is after all a massage therapist and not a personal trainer. The parking is horrible in downtown Eugene and you will have to consider this when going to the Pearl Day Spa. I will be back for the Facial for sure but not for a massage. read more

First of all, I am absolutely in awe of how beautiful this place is. The decor is very detailed, and the ambience is relaxing, the entire set up is perfect the way it is for a spa break. My boyfriend got me a gift card so I could purchase their Rapture package - 5 hours of pampering that included massage, facial, manicure and pedicure plus a light meal. I never did a spa package before, needless to say this is probably going to be the fanciest appointment I will have for awhile (I definitely can't spend $250 on myself, just can't). I arrived on time (at 3:00 pm) , checked in, chose my lunch (Paninis!) and was asked to sit in the lounge area to wait for my masseuse. Teas are provided in the area while you wait, which is a very nice touch. My massage went great, but for some reason, I was informed that I was already running late for my facial appointment. From the tone, I almost felt like I was to blame for such a rushed transition. Whatever, I still got my hour long facial, no harm done. I was then of course immediately escorted to my mani/pedi appointment. Looking at the clock, still couldn't figure out why I was being rushed that way. By the time my facial was over, it was 5:15 pm, which means I still have 2 hours and 45 minutes before my appointment to be over, does it really take this long for my mani/pedi to be done? Ah, and the lunch arrived as soon as the nail technician was getting started with my nail, so she switched to doing my pedicure first. Lunch was provided by Vero next door, and their paninis were just amazing. Overall, I am impressed by the services, all the staff members did a great job with what they were doing. I walked out of Pearl Day Spa at the end feeling like a whole new person (oh, and that's at 7:30 pm by the way). I even asked if I was the last person left in the spa, to which the receptionist responded no, they still had a few clients left. My only discomfort in all this with how I was talked to condescendingly by a few people... No, I am not absolutely knowledgeable about how to take care of myself, it's the whole point of getting this as a gift so I can take a break from taking care of everyone, and get taken of instead.
