Don't be fooled by the nice chandeliers. The place is only surfaced cleaned. You can see the dirt building up on the floors and behind furniture. Every technician that has done my nails at Pearl's Nail Salon rushes! They have burned me and cut me on numerous occasions. Usually because they're talking to the person next to them and not paying attention. They never say they're sorry or even acknowledge it for that matter. I've had four different people in the last six months do my nails. Interestingly, enough, each nail tech applied the dip differently. And I mean a lot differently. From how many coats of polish they use to whether or not they put you under the lights to dry or have you air dry them. When questioned about it being different from previous nail techs, Each nail tech would talk bad about the one another and say that their technique was better. Two of the times in the last three months I've had five nails fall right off and they were my nails! They broke off because the nail tech put so many layers of dip on my nails they couldn't handle it. The straw that broke the camels back for me today was when they sent me three notices of what my appointment time was, today. I scheduled a 4pm appointment. At 2 PM they sent me an email and text that said my appointment was at 2 PM! Then I received another email and text shortly after telling me, my appointment was at 4 PM, then shortly after that I got a notice that said my appointment was at 5 PM. No one at the store was answering the phone. I called over 20 times. When someone finally answered, they told me my appointment was for 4pm and I should never follow the texts and emails. I should just go with what I scheduled or call the store. I explained to her how many times I had called the Salon and got no answer. She said oh well I need to cancel your appointment now because it's after four so you can call back and reschedule if I'd like to. Needless to say, I hung up on her. I'm not sure if this place can get any more unprofessional. I truly think they have forgotten who the customers are. read more

Came for a French dip manicure. I had spent months growing out my nails and was excited to finally be able to get them done. To be completely honest it may have been of the worst nail experiences I've ever had. I sat down and the technician had an AirPod in, now I don't mind somebody to music or something but I don't a single real sentence was ever formed directed to me during my visit. I was not asked what shape or length what so ever or, only if I wanted then evened out.(which apparently meant cutting them to a point where my skin was longer than the actual nail) I have a feeling my middle was like a big f you because the white line is completely uneven and doesn't even go across the entire nail. When my nail was filed I felt like he wasn't even filing the nail but just my skin. And at one point he took his nail and randomly pushed back my cuticle. By the time my dip had been done my mother was being filed. Overall overpriced, uneven, and very sloppy. Would not go back. read more

I went to this salon because it was really close to me . I went with my friend for my birthday we got a classic manicure. We asked for white polish and then on the middle finger a pink heart. First off the nail polish looked really old. It was really chunky. Then the lady painted my ring finger pink. I asked her nicely "can you please change it" she had the biggest attitude and replied with "fine". My friend had the same thing (white nails with a pink heart on the middle finger) The lady painted her nails dark pink.. the polish was really chunky.. my friend asked nicely to change it. The worker replied with "you asked for this" my friend replied with "no I didn't , I asked for white nails with a pink heart. Later they finished our nails. We went to got dry them, my nails already started to chip. I asked the worker to fix them. They were already mad. The man came to me with the polish and did them standing up. I traveled from Boston to visit a friend and go to the Ann Arbor Art Festival. My friend & I went here to get a mani / pedi. My tech was a very young man (so young that I wonder if he is even licensed) who used a grater on my heels so hard that it cut me in many places. The towels were bloody and he didn't even apologize! I spent over $50 on first aid supplies to cover all the cuts, and limped around the Art Festival that I had traveled so far to see. Came here today for my very first dip polish manicure. The gentleman who did my nails was very nice, but two major things caught my eye while my manicure was being done. (I did a lot of research on manicures to find which one would be best for my nails). First off, they dipped my fingers directly into the power jar, which is very unsanitary. Dip powder should be pored into a separate container or pored onto the nail. Also, he finished my manicure with a gel coating.. which then required me to use a UV light. The whole point of doing dip powder is to avoid a UV light and gel polish. For these reasons I will be finding a different salon that properly performs dip manicures. The manicure was also $40 for one or two colors and $45 for 3-5 colors. read more

Maybe if you have come here regularly and know who to ask for you get good service but I've come here several times and the service is very inconsistent and I'm not sure how well sanitized the equipment is. My son was completely ignored after sitting in the chair with his feet in the water for the entire duration of my and another friend's pedicures. Never got his pedi. The technicians walked away to wait on other people who came in after us. We were told by the very immature receptionist that "men don't do other men's pedicures. That would be weird". I'm a loyal costumer at Pearl nails for years. I went there for an appointment this Saturday with someone that I haven't had Before. I wanted a dip mani, and honestly I dont ever complain but I am so unhappy and upset with my nails. They are so unprofessionally done, extremely thick, uneven, and sloppy. i didn't even get my cuticles cut down or anything. The top coat is cracked and they are still very sticky. I explained to him that the nails are way too thick, he shaved them down a little but still they're horribly thick and very sloppy. I wanted to say something at the time I was paying but decided to just go home and give them a second look...They look extremely unprofessional and many ppl have commented and laughed at how they look. The dip is applied so thickly that I am having numbess and redness on my fingertips also issues with picking up objects. i called the salon they said that the manager was too busy to speak to me and wont be issuing me a refund but can just remove this mess. read more

Walked in as a walk in first timer. Waited 45 minutes for them to call me back to sit in a chair where the guy didn't come for 10 minutes. One of the other guys took me since the other gentleman took to long. just to get my acrylics off, not even fully. I went to use the restroom and when I came back a minute later, he was working on somebody else. In total I spent an hour and a half. Been coming here for over 4yrs now, Sophia and Brandon with their entire staff are always professional, clean, fast and respectful. From gel manicures, acrylic, mani, pedi to even waxing (ask for Sophia she's awesome! ) reasonably-priced and yes all their girls speak English, and very friendly! I made an appt and when I was seated with my tech he asked what I wanted done I showed him my inspo and he seemed very unsure of how to go about it so I took that as a hint to just do a solid color and call it a day. I told him I wanted the shape to be coffin and all of my fingers are extremely un even. One is longer than the other, shorter, more narrow etc. I told him that they weren't even and he ignored me and said that the were when they visibly weren't but I let him finish payed and tipped him and left. I'll give it two stars. The pedicure was pretty standard, but the "dip manicure" wasn't really even one. It was more of a dip polish change. Didn't get my cuticles done or lotion massage. Pretty sure the tech used the wrong color dipping powder too! When I asked (three times!) throughout the application, he just said to wait until we were done. He didn't bother to confirm the color before he started and I think he picked up the wrong (darker) color. At least my growth isn't showing but I'll probably have to have it redone before the two week mark due to family pictures! I normally go to a salon by my work but this one is closer to my home. They have been here for years but don't understand how connecting with customers is key for getting a good tip!! I overtipped just to be nice and he didn't even say thank you. We had called in advance and were told they don't take appointments and just to come in. When we came in, all three of us were seated at the same time. The two others in my group were served immediately. I sat there the whole time patiently waiting. After we were done, I kept sitting there being ignored the whole time. When I inquired about when I would be served, I was told I had to wait for the next available staff person, despite other walk-ins being served ahead of me. The woman at the front desk was blatantly ignorant and homophobic: "Male staff don't do other men's feet. That's just weird." She offered no apology or attempt at professional, empathetic listening. There was a longish wait whether it's only 10 minutes or 30. I got switched between people several times and to different chairs several times. I know cheaper places but stopped by here but it was nearby and on my way home so I can't be that crude. Nails turned out okay... French tip showed my underneath and fill-ins.
