I love this place!!! I sent a message requesting a manicure. They respond quickly. Even though I was unable to make it that day, I reached out later and asked to set up an appointment for the next day. I didn't schedule a pedicure but upon arrival I asked for pedicure and 12:30 appointment for my manicure. They accommodated my request and did great work. The vibe of salon is so relaxing and calm. They have soft music playing and Michael (I think that was his name) was friendly and all staff were calm. My pedicure was perfect! Manicure, Michael did most of it, and I asked for design and style (first photo) they matched colors and did all the work. They asked if I wanted dip or shellac etc. I have them free play, they could do whatever they thought would look best, they asked if I wanted shiny and I was in favor of that. I Tried this place out and was pretty disgusted to be honest. There was ZERO sanitation going on whatsoever, that should have been my first clue to run. But I stayed, after being ignored for 45 mins during my shellac manicure and cut twice, the nail tech asks "you like"? I tell her "Im sorry but no this is not acceptable" she looked at me like I was a total idiot and slapped on 4...yes 4 more layers of shellac while her and her nail techs talked in their language, which was probably crap about me. My first time there, I had an appointment for a fill in for myself and a polish only on nails and toes for my daughter. I was running 20 minutes late, I did call them before my appointment time and let them know I'd be 20 mins late and if they can still take us, the lady who answered said it's okay, but when I got there, they started with my nails, and then told me they can't do my daughters, (she's 7 so she was bummed out) wish they told me that when I called, that way I wouldn't have brought her with me and make her wait while i do my nails! I can't remember the guys name who did my fill in, but he was rushing and moving way too fast, that he cut my cuticles and my one finger was burning when he used the nail drill, he did apologize, but did it 2 more times, you'd think he'll be a little more careful and maybe slow down. The store wasn't even that busy, I've never felt so rushed. Every time he asked me a question, mostly to upgrade, if i say no, he'd speak his language to the other tech (I think she's the owner) and she'd ask me the same question again, It just made me feel pressured & uncomfortable; Not to mention, she was very rude! But there was 2 other customers of different ethnicity and she was pretty nice to them. So maybe it was because I didn't fit the "criteria". Very disappointing and unprofessional! I do not recommend Shelby nails and will never return. P.s When I left, I took my daughter down the street to PARADISE 9 nails, their facility is so much cleaner and they follow covid guidelines, and were super friendly to to my daughter brought her a bottle of water and kept smiling with her and making sure she's comfy in her chair, she felt so special! The most unprofessional and rude nail salon I have ever experienced. The techs son shut down the cable and credit card machine before I was finished, and then they took over 30 min to figure out how to get the machine functional again. They tried to record my credit card number to input it later and got upset that I wouldn't let them copy it down...are you kidding me why don't I freely let you steal my identity. After they finally got a family member to drive back to the store to fix the machine, there was no apology for my wait, no discount for my time, just rudeness and continued unprofessional behavior. The entire time I was just standing there quiet on my phone. After such lack of service, I declined to leave a tip, and the family member that drove in to fix the machine began to berate me and followed me out of the store to my car screaming at me that I was ungrateful and to never come back. I was not pleased with my service. The nail tech rushed my service , she didn't make sure my nails would look good with clear polish , then said the problem was my nail bed. I then decided I would get regular polish , the paint job wasn't even good. Very poor service and I was charged $35 for a fill in with regular paint . Over priced and poor work!!!! read more

I've been coming to Shelby Nails for years now to get my eyebrows done and the occasional pedicure. They've always been incredibly friendly, and honest when they're just too busy, and I have always appreciated that. However, I think the place was either recently bought out, or I just keep missing the original crew, but I'm not happy that nothing was said and it was almost coup-like. If I'm wrong, then so be it, but I did notice a steep decline in customers. The pedicures with the new(?) management were nice. They now incorporate hot rocks as well as the usual hot towels at the end. However, I feel it maybe wasn't as thorough as it used to be. All in All, maybe it's just because I've been here so much that it feels like a betrayal, but I'm going to keep trying to come back and see if things remain ok. read more

I went here for the first time and I won't be returning. First, when I arrived the nail tech was finishing up with another customer that was sitting in the same station I ended up sitting at. The employees didn't even sanitize the station in between which is horrible considering we're in a pandemic still. The nail tech didn't say a word to me the whole time she did my nails which is fine I guess but It felt very awkward. Then I asked if I could get my acrylics coffin shape and she told me no because my nail bed was too small. I found that strange considering I always get my nails shaped that way every time I get a full set. I have been to many nail salons over the years and Shelby Nails is by far the best. It's like visiting friends. They are up-to-date on the latest techniques, color samples, etc...and it's fun! They have been very accommodating with my odd schedule and have still handled walk-in services as well. I have yet to do a pedi, but the massage chairs and rub down of legs looks very inviting. The relaxed smiles on the parton's faces pretty much solidify my expectation, so I guess there's a pedi in my future. Please give them a try. You won't be sorry! There were pros and cons to my experience. I went here for the first time because I was in the area and it was convenient. The young girl there was sick and apologized for her coughing and sniffling. However, even after giving me a pedicure she did not wash her hands. She then did my manicure and again did not wash her hands. Another person came in while my paint was drying and again did not even use hand sanitizer. I wish she understood the importance of washing in between clients during the peak of flu season and while she herself was very ill. Makes me wonder if proper care of cleaning equipment and tools is performed. I did like the fact that they use disposable liners for their pedicures, however. I also thought the girl was very kind and she definitely took her time. Ultimately, the reason for the two stars is because it looks like I painted my own nails using my left hand. I had polish all over the cuticles and on my fingertips and toes, even after she tried cleaning the edges with a brush. I was surprised she let me leave like that. She did shape my nails nicely. However, after dropping over $50, I am stuck repainting then myself! I will not be returning. read more

I have went there before and my first time I got my nails done they were super kind and made my nails look fabulous for Valentine's Day, I believe her name was Mia or Mya who was the manager that did my nails and they looked stunning! But little did I know. Things would go south from there, every time I came back and got my nails done I would repeatedly get comments on how terrible my natural nails look either from the manager or Michael. I'm well aware of what they look like hence why I was going there to make my nails look pretty again! Not to mention the third time I went I had a completely different guy from either one of them and he completely messed my nails up and my fiancé was there with me that day and when I went to mia to do the designs since she's the only one who knows how she had a look of TERROR on her face and insisted she take them off but it was damn near closing time and a bad storm was approaching. She offered to have me come in at 10:30 in the morning the next day to just restart them which I really didn't have time for, but worked it out anywho when they should have done it right in the first place! Overall, what I'm getting at here is they lack CONSISTENCY!Everyone whose done my nails had done them a completely different way and some held up better than others. I wouldn't recommend because although your hopes will be high, they'll shoot them down the next. I have been looking for a nail salon since I moved back to Michigan approximately a year ago... I was in the neighborhood and it seems like a friendly clean nail salon... Within 24 hours of having shellac done on my nails and a WIC pedicure on my toes all of the paint started to either crumble or peel off. I should have known better when the people doing nails started complaining about customers who only want a polish change or who want to complain about their services. I went back to the nail salon Within 3 days of having the service done and ask them to politely remove the nail polish and redo it or please refund my money. The one in working refused to fix my nails and also refuse to give me a refund she wanted to go ahead and paint over the mistakes on my nails with a color that wasn't even matching. I would not recommend this nail salon to anybody! If you go here you will have complaints and you will need to get them done somewhere else to make your nails look acceptable read more

I'm writing this review as I sit in the salon waiting for my toes to dry. For the past two years, my mother, my sister, and myself have been loyal customers. The service was always great. Today, I am furious. I walked in to have a pedicure done and was seated promptly. My feet were soaking and all was well. Until my technician decided that another customer was more important than me. She got up from my pedicure chair, and proceeded to begin a manicure on another customer who had just walked in. It's been over 30 minutes and I am still sitting in this chair soaking.
