This company is a scam. They will not work without having their customs sign a contract, a contract designed for getting paid without completing the work. I recommend to avoid this company at all costs. After hiring this company to complete basic remodeling, they charged us an extremely high quote for the time, and did not even complete the project, yet they demanded full payment. This review is long overdue. I had done research on Yelp and got a few in-person quotes. Pearl Remodeling was the most affordable and flexible with a budget. I worked with Ori and the work started the day after Labor Day. The timeline was for 3 months but was finished a bit earlier in early December. I got 3 small bathrooms and the kitchen redone for $40,100. This was my first time remodeling. I learned that you are responsible for purchasing all appliances and fixtures and contractors mainly provide the labor. Ori did provide a detailed shopping list with measurements and was available by text and phone for questions. Keep in mind, that work is not done every day but they are flexible with early times. They will put a lockbox on your door and enter when they are ready. We resurfaced our cabinet doors and had the boxes painted in the kitchen. That was probably the best value in the house. We had major problems with leaks due to the construction so that was a nightmare for a few months since they couldn't figure out the issue for awhile. When the ceiling was patched up, it was sloping down so that was upsetting but it eventually got resolved with many follow-ups initiated by me. I am pleased with the end result of work but make sure you inspect the work as it's done because I found that work was done very sloppily in the bathrooms on the walls. I was not confident it would have been fixed if I didn't keep following up several times. read more

I found Pearl Remodeling on Yelp and based on the number of 5-star reviews, decided to give them a call when I was starting my ADU project. I liked that they handled everything from architectural plans and city permits to construction and interior finishes. I had the same two project managers, Ben and Izhak, throughout, and I liked that the company was a large enough to have every type of tradesperson needed for building a home, but not too big that it was impersonal or that you couldn't get a quick response. I was also impressed with the photos they showed me of other ADU projects on older homes similar to mine in the Los Angeles area, where the finishes and taste-level were high-quality. Definitely not the cheapest bid, but not the most expensive, either. My building plans were completed and submitted to the city in a timely manner, and approvals took about two months. It was so nice not to have to deal with any of the permitting stuff. It was some months more before I decided to proceed with construction, but once I did, communication was smooth, the scope of work and payment schedule was clear, and the contractors and tradespeople were all professional and treated the property and the work with care. I appreciated the communication and responsiveness. It's not an easy job to add a new foundation to an existing structure that sits on a property line (as my detached garage was). I was impressed with the quality of the work from foundation to framing to drywall and stucco. We passed every stage of inspection without a problem, and again I didn't have to worry about anything since a contractor was always on-site for the appointments and always kept me apprised. Since I had to purchase all the things that go inside the ADU and the fixtures etc, the team gave me a full list of items and good advice on what to buy and also took care of getting things like the tankless water heater and mini-split unit. Although I didn't use Pearl's interior design services, the project managers were great about giving advice when asked and helping me make decisions. Yes, the timeline was a bit longer than expected, but that was not an issue for me. And sometimes there were hiccups but everything was always resolved. This is a long overdue review for Pearl Remodeling and our amazing project manager, Gal. Let me start with: We love our home! Our Pinterest dreams came true. So this is a happy story. Below I'll describe why! After meeting and interviewing 6 other contractors we decided to book Pearl Remodeling because of Gal's on point consultation. He was clear, genuine and straight forward with us and that inspired trust. While he wasn't our cheapest option, it was worth the extra for the peace of mind Gal gave us. We basically ended up doing a complete master bathroom renovation and updates to the kitchen and floors. He recommended some shortcuts that saved us money in the long run. Instead of replacing the kitchen cabinets he recommended refacing them since they were still in good condition. Instead of installing new bamboo throughout the condo, he recommended finding the exact bamboo and using it to replace the carpet in the rooms. We didn't think we'd be able to find this thin bamboo from the 90s but Gal found it! He also worked his magic on a spiral staircase that had carpet steps on it and added the bamboo there. He just was so creative with the extra material we had for the kitchen counters too. He added to the fireplace and it looks so good. I'll add more photos later. We had a few problems with late material (my bad not his) and he was so nice and chill about reminding me. If a hiccup came up we felt confident Gal would resolve it ASAP. Gal also had great attention to detail and a good eye for solving problems. He always texted back and always answered the phone. Even though we did have some issues, just like any other project, I was confident that we made the right choice and I was completely satisfied with the end result. This is a long overdue review for Pearl Remodeling and our wonderful project manager, Ben. We met with Ben for a consultation after he was referred to us by my husband's co-worker. Ben spent a good two hours with us going through all the details to make sure that we were all on the same page and he was very upfront about costs and estimated timeframe to complete the work. These two points were extremely important as I was heavily pregnant, would not have income while on maternity leave and wanted to move in before I delivered. We also met with two other general contractors from other companies that same day. In short, even though Pearl Remodeling gave us the highest priced bid and longest time estimate to complete the job, we trusted Ben to deliver as promised whereas we felt the other contractors were either priced too low to be true or were just telling us what we wanted to hear to win the job. We basically ended up doing a complete home renovation (all new custom baths, new custom kitchen, new laundry room, new doors and closet doors, new exterior gate, removal of carpet and installation of hardwood, removal of popcorn ceiling and all new paint all around) plus new electrical and plumbing. Ben was always in contact with us (even working late at night, helping us buy materials and FaceTiming with us even though he didn't have to), there were always guys at our house working on it every workday and if a hiccup came up (there have to be some or it's not a home renovation), Ben would resolve it ASAP. Ben also had great attention to detail and made great suggestions along the way to our project. As the job went on and the closer to the baby's arrival we got, Ben worked extra hard to deliver as promised, even though we added on a bunch of extra work and we moved in on a Friday (baby arrived the following Wednesday morning!) This is what we did last summer: After searching for a good contractor and suffering through a particularly terrible one, we found Pearl Remodeling. Our remodel was primarily a kitchen and laundry, but we also did a new back patio entry, fireplace refacing, floors throughout the house and some other minor updates. Our primary project manager was Avi. Right away we discussed musts, nice to have, and wish list, and realistic options for the budget range we had in mind. Where many contractors and builders will give bids and time frames to land a job, then turn around with overages, delays, and juggling too many jobs at once to stick to a schedule, Avi kept things on track and planned an aggressive yet realistic calendar. Through the entire project we were in regular contact - in person, phone, a text channel devoted to our job. Kitchen was a complete remodel, bottom up. Floors, tiles, cabinets, ceiling, appliances, lighting, new sub panel. 8-10 weeks was the goal. We kept to our part, working with Avi and the Pearl design team to make decisions about layout, cabinets and flooring, as well as acquiring all the appliances and as many other materials as possible. Every remodel has its snafus and changed minds. Ours was no exception. We had some mismatches with the gas line position, exhaust for the range hood, etc., but Avi and team handled each with a minimum of fuss and delay. We had a few late changes with the back patio door and the fireplaces, and again, handled in stride. From the day we started demo to the last day, a couple touchups notwithstanding, we were done in 8 weeks. On time! Pearl was more expensive than other companies we received bids from, cannot deny. Add to that some costs due to supplies, inflation, etc. and we went over the high end of our budget. We had to make some sacrifices of other things we had originally planned after the main remodel. We had an unanticipated overage, needing a new subfloor to level all the rooms, which also sent us over budget (though it was the right thing to do). All things considered, we don't feel their bid and final pricing to be too high, especially with the consistency in communication and adherence to schedule. Previous work done by another contractor should have been a few weeks yet somehow took months. Avi and team didn't do that to us - we felt like #1 the whole time. We recommend Pear Remodeling. This is the second time we hired Pearl Remodeling for a major project, and we're just as happy with the results this time as we were with the first. Major storm damage meant we had to almost completely rebuild both bedrooms and bathrooms. Pearl Remodeling is seriously the best group of people to work with! They turned around my whole house - kitchens, bathrooms, floors, patio, backyard and studio were all renovated. It was a complete overhaul and a huge job. Everything was so well done, but in particular I need to give a shout out to the work they did converting the garage into an open plan studio unit I can now AirBnb. That work is truly beautiful and has been noticed by guests and realtors for its quality! To give you some context - before Pearl redid my house it was a 1911 Los Angeles craftsman that had been shown little love over the years. The original bathrooms were in such a sad state - the showers leaked into the basement whenever the water ran. There was little to no natural light in the house at all. Izhak Eskayo from Pearl Remodeling helped me to redesign the entire house to modernize it into a beautiful home! Izhak oversaw the entire project for 18 months so really so much credit for this job goes to him (see further down for even more of my recommendation!) We started with the bathrooms, which was a complete overhaul of the tiling, toilet, shower, vanity etc. For the shower, they tarred and sealed the base of the shower completely - which has turned out beautifully. Then we did the kitchen which again was a complete overhaul job. Cabinets, countertop, appliances, cutting a hole in the wall to accommodate the new countertop island... it was all handled so well! Then we did floors... for the entire house! These floors are gorgeous - they're treated reclaimed barn wood with beautiful texture and grain. I recommend asking for them to be double waxed (just my preference) because I like to make sure they're very smooth, but some people prefer the rougher texture under foot. All the walls inside and outside the house were completely painted. We worked hard to figure out the color scheme. Izhak has a great sense of color - he was such a great help in this process!!! I went with a simple grey and white for the exterior paint, which let the natural red brick and wood of the craftsman shine through! I'm so happy with the results - it makes the house look brand new!!! Then the Pearl team moved on to the garage/studio conversion. This was such an epic job I can't even begin to describe!!! As we began digging, we found that the old garage unit (built in 1911) was missing a foundation! Because of city regulations, we couldn't move any of the existing walls in the remodel, so Izhak and his amazing team led by the foreman Cesar actually dug under the existing structure and installed a cement foundation!!! This was an epic undertaking and we followed the city codes very closely. Everything was done to code and done amazingly well! The results really speak for themselves so take a look at the photos - I now have a 400 sq ft open plan self-contained studio I can rent or AirBnB for additional income! And finally, the team moved on to the backyard and patio! This involved knocking down existing brick wall and digging up 6ft deep concrete installed by the previous owner, which was a complete eyesore to the property! My backyard isn't big enough to accommodate a bobcat, so the team spent weeks digging up this concrete slab with jackhammers and shovels! What was installed in its place is a beautiful firepit, garden wall, and a new cedar wood fence. They also installed pavers as footpath and new garden boxes for growing herbs. Izhak also brought in a team to install a patio cover, which now provides beautiful shade for parties during the day! Pearl Remodeling did such a great job throughout the whole house, were so professional, and really went out of their way to make sure everything was the best. I had my home revalued shortly after the renovation and it skyrocketed in value because of the work from Pearl Remodeling. Finally, if you get the chance to be so lucky, ask to work with Izhak Eskayo. You'll be thankful you did! I've worked with him for the past 18 months and I can say without a doubt he put his heart into the project and went out of his way to make sure I was happy with the results. I'm very happy we hired Pearl Remodeling to remodel our bathroom. They were professional, extremely competent, and timely. I originally hired a different local contractor for the project. I provided the design with detailed scale drawings and dimensions that included stripping the room to the studs and installing a new tub with tiles. Fortunately, I am very knowledgeable when it comes to design, construction, and engineering, because the work done by the original contractor ranged from very sub-standard to downright wrong. I almost never saw their foreman, and good communication was lacking. They even damaged the bathtub because it wasn't properly covered. Most of their workers were unlicensed, and apparently low-skilled. I became afraid to not be there whenever they were present. After watching them re-do several processes multiple times poorly (structural, plumbing, electrical, HVAC), I fired them and hired Pearl Remodeling to take it over. I'm so glad I did; they made a HUGE difference. And Pearl's pricing was the same as the original company. All of Pearl's workers were licensed and high-caliber professionals. They actually paid close attention to the drawings and asked pertinent questions while reviewing them. It was refreshing to see their quality workmanship and attention to details far beyond my plans. And their tile work was impeccable. Pearl's project manager, Avi Shushan, remained very involved the entire time and provided excellent advice. His foreman, Jorge, was constantly communicating and updating me. (BTW, Jorge has a degree in civil engineering from UC Northridge.) They stuck to their timeline, and were flexible with a few last-minute adjustments I had sprung on them. When I fired the first company, their owner warned me that I was just being too particular, and that all contractors are the same; and if I wanted the quality I was demanding, I would have to personally supervise their work constantly. We decided to do a tub to shower conversion in our condo to make it easier for us to get in to take a shower. Didn't need any fancy so we thought it should be a small job, not realizing that anything involving a tub/shower remodel is usually the most complicated part of any bathroom remodel. We got quotes from four different vendors and we chose Pearl to do the remodel. The lead on the project, Ben, spent over an hour going over the whole scope of the project and gave us a quote that was very reasonable. He personable and you can tell he has been doing this for a while. Throughout the whole project, he kept us updated at each stage and responded quickly to any texts I sent him. We liked the fact that they preferred that permits be pulled to ensure that the project is done properly and in compliance with the HOA's requirements. The crews were really good about complying with the rules of the HOA for a 9 am start time and give 48 hour notice prior to any water shutoff. All the members of the crews were polite and were fairly prompt each day. The project took longer (About 4 weeks) because of the HOA rules and if you live in the City of Los Angeles, you will spend about six days just waiting for inspectors to sign off on different stages of the remodel, during which no work is performed. The crews did fantastic work starting with the plastic floor to ceiling walls they setup to keep the spread of dust from covering our master bedroom and the rest of condo. They also laid down ram board on the pathways on the floor in our place and in the hallway to protect them from any damage. From the demo, framing, plumbing, hot mop, lathing, cementing (2x), tile work, to the installation of the glass doors, everything was done really well with a lot of attention to detail. Ben came in after each stage to check on progress of the work. We also like the fact that payments were made after each stage of the job and everything spelled out clearly in the contract. The finished job looks fantastic, way beyond what we imagined. Ben was good in recommending some nice touches like using the pebble tile for the floor and the niches and the brush metal trim on the edges of the tile. The frameless shower door is very slick. We converted an upstairs living room into a permitted bedroom and we couldn't be any happier with how the process went and what the results were. Had a random door to door salesman from a different contracting company knock on my door to ask if I needed any work done but this guy was extremely aggressive with his sales tactics and decided not to go with them. This did however get me thinking about a few items around the house that I wanted to renovate so I did a little research and found Pearl remodeling. After calling them I was sent one of their Project Managers named Vlad. I cannot speak highly enough of him. Vlad really took the time to inspect my entire house and point out all of the different areas that could be improved but did so in a way that did not make me feel like I was getting a sales speech but more so a valuable lesson in homeownership. Vlad was extremely knowledgable and made me and my family feel that this company cared. Vlad went above and beyond at detailing the different work that would be done and providing very clear cost break downs for each piece of work to be done. He even helped me list out the items that would bring out the top return on my investment. I will definitely be giving this company a ring any time I need projects completed. We wanted to remodel our two guest bathrooms and change the backsplash in our kitchen. We were nervous to work with a general contractor, but Ben and his team were amazing to work with! We made an appointment to get an estimate and Ben was honest about the cost, amount of time it would take and gave us his recommendations for the project. We began out project in April and after nearing completion of it decided to expand our project based on the work that was done, the communication with and responsiveness of our project manager, Avi, and Pearl's ability to quickly continue to move into the second phase of our project. Our project included adding a bathroom and lighting throughout our house, converting an attic space to a closet, converting nonfunctional French doors to a wall of windows, changing the wood flooring throughout the house and baseboards and painting the inside of the house. We hired Ben and Pearl Remodeling to remove the soffit in our hallway and completely remodel our guest bathroom. Ben was honest about the work at hand and gave us an appropriate quote and timeline when other contractors were just trying to get the job and would probably up charge us later. He was incredibly communicative from day 1 and super easy to reach if we had any questions or concerns. The workers were respectful and efficient, especially since we had to complete the job during quarantine and move in with family during the process. While there were some hiccups along the way Ben got the job done and we're very happy with our new bathroom and hallway ceiling. This was our first remodeling project so we felt it went as smoothly as possible. Our only issue was the tiles we ended up choosing for the floor and shower were not the best quality. We recently completed our second big project working with Pearl Remodeling, and I'm so happy to report that we had just as good an experience the second time around as we did the first! We hired Pearl in August 2019 to remodel a bathroom, bedroom and to do a number of other smaller things around our house. Having had a great experience then, I reached out to them again for our next project. Izhak Eskayo was our project manager the first time, so I specifically reached out to him the second time, as we had had such a wonderful experience working with him in the past. This go around was no exception. We did a major remodel of our garage. Not an ADU, but just converting our garage to a usable room. Insulation, drywall, paint, lighting, lots of new outlets, installing a mini split, installing a tankless water heater, installing new plumbing and sink and cabinet, installing a new door access to the yard and, finally, installing two attic access/ladder pull downs. We also had work done to our kitchen. Sort of a mini remodel. Basically making some additions and changes to our small, galley kitchen, in order to open it up and make it more efficient and more beautiful. We also had them build a beautiful shelf along our entryway wall for package delivery drop off. I am wheelchair user, and all of the work was done in order to make our house easier for me to use, but was also done in a way that everything is still quite beautiful. At the beginning of the project, Izhak gave me a time projection of approximately two months. The whole job would've been done inside of three weeks, if not for the hold up of some brackets that we ordered, which was not even remotely their fault! It was unbelievable how quickly and efficiently they worked! Every single worker who I encountered was just great! Everyone was friendly and hard-working, and very careful to keep pathways clear for me to be able to move about in my wheelchair. Izhak, as always, checked in daily, and was available by phone constantly. He kept the ball rolling and organized everything so efficiently! Along the way, my husband made a few changes, and Izhak was very accommodating to whatever he asked. I'm so happy to have experienced consistent, great service with Pearl! Our family interviewed a couple of contractors to help us remodel our guesthouse. From the start, Gal came with a professional and exciting energy that made us feel comfortable with going with Pearl. Gal was upfront about what he thought was possible/safe and you knew he was paying attention because he always brings a pad full of notes on the project! Although Pearl was not the lowest quote, we appreciated the reasonable, itemized and thorough estimate! For this particular project, we had our guesthouse's kitchen, flooring, and bathroom redone. The remodel looks immaculate! The best part about working with Gal and Pearl Remodeling was their dedication to quality and speed (it was not one or the other). We had a great experience Pearl Remodeling and with our project manager, Avi, in transitioning our existing garage/loft space into a one bedroom ADU. We knew we needed an architect to help with the project, but firms weren't interested in taking us on as clients due to the scope of the work being too small. This is why we went with a design build firm. From start to finish communication was excellent - frequent, proactive, and detailed. Avi was very available, responsive and accessible so that we were able to get questions answered quickly, as well as make quick decisions to ensure the timeline for the project continued moving forward. We felt like we had a clear sense of the various phases of the project and what was needed to realize our vision and meet our timeline. We were also kept regularly informed about the specifics of what was happening when, and when inspections were occurring. The project was completed in what seemed to us like record time - they began demo on May 23 and the project was mostly completed by the end of August. It also looks amazing - there is clearly a strong level of attention to detail in the work and the various tradespeople who worked on different aspects of the project were skilled and knowledgeable.
