Pros: Weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday), convenient location for public transportation and full parking lot, and they take most insurance. I could get an appointment fairly quickly. Cons: Least thorough eye-exam I have ever had (felt rushed). They also never gave me my new RX even when I asked for it and just kept saying they'd order my contacts for me so not to worry what it was. I'm trying to keep in mind I went around the holidays and I know no one is exactly thrilled to be working the week of Christmas. After going to Pearle Vision in the suburbs for years, I thought the service couldn't get any better. Now that I live in the city, I go to the Pearle Vision in Old Town and the service is excellent. Everyone from the people at the front desk, managers, etc are very nice. Dr. Mila Petkovic is very friendly and very nice and I never show up with an appointment (although I dont think that is a good idea and I may be pushing my luck). Regardless, they always try to find a way to squeeze me in and give me advice on my insurance plan to maximize my benefits between contacts and glasses. read more

I took my visionally impaired boyfriend to the Pearl Vision Old Town Square location on a Sunday afternoon very skeptical after a horrible experience we had at an optometrist's office in Joliet. The employees were very kind and accommodating. They listened to what he wanted and worked patiently with him on applying and removing contact lenses for the first time. The head optician talked to him about football to calm him down after he kept getting frustrated with his failing attempts of application and removal of his new contact lenses. I accidentally stepped on my boyfriends glasses today and snapped his precious frames in half. Of course he didn't have a spare so I was left calling every single optometrist in Chicago to see 1. If they were open on a Sunday and 2. If we could get the glasses ASAP. After numerous calls, I was feeling hopeless. Every place I called told me that the glasses would take a minimum of 7-10 days. I was about to give up when Pearle Vision stepped in and saved our day! We were able to get an appointment for an exam right away and they said that they could get him his glasses by 2pm tomorrow. So glad that I don't have to endure a weeks worth of agonizing guilt because there is NO WAY he could have gone an entire week without seeing. I have had appointments with several different doctors, and they have all have been professional and caring. You can often make a last minute appointment and get in and out quickly. Went to this location for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. Erwin was outstanding! He was very patient and helpful, as I sorted through the different frame and coating options, as well as money saving options. He also replaced the broken nose pads on my current glasses and adjusted them, which is a great help as I ride out my final days with this pair! Dr Vidulich did a thorough medical and optical history, and exam (probably the most thorough one I've ever had). Went to this location in September of 2016 to get an eye exam and some new specs as my old ones were metal frames from eighth grade. I was extremely happy with the service provided at the office and the help received while looking for frames. Dr. Yaffe was thorough and the manager assisting with the purchase of the frames made the process quick and easy. So why 5 stars for an expected service? A month or so later I was in the hospital after my wife delivered our son. Exhausted and unknowingly I ended up bending my frames. I contacted the office and the manager, Will, was quick to assist. Within a short period of time they were able to fix the frames I had just purchased. I am grateful for Dr. Yaffe, Will, and staff at this location. I will be back next year for my exam. I went to this location after two poor experiences with Lens Crafters. After the exam Dr. Vidulich took time to LISTEN to my what my special needs were for my work glasses. He took extra time determining which lenses would be best for the situation I described and asked me to demonstrate the situation for him. The location has a wide variety of frames to select from. Designer on down to basic generic frames. Matt assisted me with selection with the same concern as Dr. V. There was no pressure to go with the most expensive designer frames. I just finished getting my glasses from Pearle Vision at Old Town Square. I made an appointment on a Wednesday for Saturday and got 2 pair of glasses the next Friday. I met with Dr. Mil Petkovic and she was amaing. Everything from a new perscription, to glaucoama and retinal review in 30 minutes and I didn't feel rushe at all. They stayed late to enter my insurance information and order my new glasses and refit a special pair with new lenses. I am testing out their progressive lense with the option of going back in 60 days to trade them for a second recommendation. The store might need a slight makeover but from what I've seen at other retailers I was pleasantly surprised and happy with my overall experience so far. read more

There is a decent selection of frames and while they don't pick frames for you, they are very helpful if you see something you like. I just wandered in to have my eyeglasses tightened and an ear piece on my cheap sunglasses re-attached. They broke my frames accidentally and gave me new frames for free! The frames I liked best were a bit too big for my lenses, so I paid $40 and waited 15 minutes and they made NEW lenses for me. Now I have new glasses and I love them. Great place, great service. I called her this afternoon, needing an emergency pair of new glasses + lenses (I have a -9.25 & astigmatism, so not common lenses to keep on hand). August 22 Needed contacts for vacation, woman on phone said contacts in stock. In the middle of eye exam Dr tells me contacts not in stock. He noticed I was upset asked if I wish to continue I said no, we stopped. Jan 26 receive call from guy saying I owe $50 for fitting, if I didn't pay it will go to collections. Told him u guys haven't called me 5 months but the first call I receive is u threatening to send me to collections. Guy on phone said he personally called me. Fine! I go in guy at desk says I owe for fitting. Told him I didn't have a fitting. Manager shows up and says he personally called me. Second person that personally called me? Manager says am i going to order contacts thru them. I said no. We go back and forth, he says we will just wipe everything clean and part ways. Next they are billing my insurance for eye exam. I have no contacts no glasses no prescription for anything. They lied to my insurance and said they gave me a prescription but if I want it I can drive all the way back over there and pick it up. So now I have to dispute thru my insurance the eye exam charges...and cannot use insurance for glasses or contacts till it's resolved. read more

My husband and I have gotten our glasses here for years and I have always found just what I was looking for at a very fair price. Dr. Norman Blase gives us very thorough eye exams and his staff was so helpful in pulling glasses for us to try. We never felt rushed in making our selections and the options seemed endless. BUT, what made me write this yelp review was because of a recent eye problem. I woke up one Saturday morning and my eye was really red and painful. It felt like there was gravel in my eye. Of course, I automatically thought it was going to be pink eye and that I would just have the Dr. call in some drops. He said it could be so many different things and that he needed to see me. By the time I arrived at his office, I realized that he could be right. It didn't itch like Pink Eye, but it still hurt. He dilated my eye and immediately discovered the cause of my problem. There was an eyelash that was stuck in my tear duct and every time I blinked it would rub on my eye causing the irritation. He put in some numbing drops and in a flash removed the culprit eyelash!! It immediately felt better! Just to be sure, he gave me some drops for pain. I felt like the lion that had a thorn in its paw! I am so thankful that he suggested that I come in so that he could have a look at my eye. Dr. Blase, you are my hero!! read more
