I purchased Cartier glasses from Pearle Vision Royal Oak on April 1, 2025, and dropped them off on May 5 to have prescription lenses added. I was told it would take 3-4 weeks, but after being given multiple false completion dates (June 6, June 13, June 17), I finally received them on June 18--with no apology for the delay. Assistant Manager Resha told me the glasses failed inspection and were being expedited, but the communication was poor and inconsistent. I paid over $1,800 for my frames and lenses and was only offered $50 compensation for the delay by the manager Tracey, which is completely unfair. Very disappointing experience. I paid in full with no issue, but was left waiting weeks with no accountability. read more

The store is very clean and well organized. I saw Dr. Blum and was very happy with her service. i have been going to PEARL VISION for many years. i scheduled an appot. for an annual checkup which is covered by my insurance.. i went in to my appt.finished and the dr. wanted a copay... which i am not rquired to pay under my insurance. the dr. adina blum said this was a medical visit and i said no just an annual visit.... so thats all i had was an annual visit. anyway she said you have "underlying issues" so it a medical... WHAT underlying issures??? she also was unclear about glasses and wanted to sell me two pr.the issue being bi focals or not. i opted not to have bifocals which meant two sep. glasses. had she told me this i would have gotten bifocals.i left did not get tlasses there and very unhappy feeling it was just one way of getting not only a co pay but a larger charge to my ins. co no more pearl visio read more

This has been my optometrist and eyeglass shop for over 15 years. I like the optometrist here. I will say that over the last few years I feel like the appointments take longer every year. End up waiting much longer every time. They do have a waiting room, but it's not that big. Remember I had an appointment on a Saturday and it was mid day. The waiting room was completely full. I had to stand for my appointment and wait for a seat open up. The vision test is a quick process and the staff there are friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience over here. The best part is it's only a few miles away from my house. They also have a lot of nice namebrand glasses and they take my vision insurance. read more

I recently went to the Royal Oak location and purchased a pair of eyeglasses. I can say that the staff is professional the eyewear is terrible. I can't see out of the lenses. I had the first pair replaced and still with the new lenses I cannot see. I can't read through the near vision, the far vision is distorted, the middle lenses are not functional for me either. What a waste of money and insurance coverage. I thought that the new glasses would improve my quality of life, no such thing occured. read more

OMG....so my wife and I were out looking for a pair of RX Sun Glasses today, our 4th stop of the day was at Pearl Vision, 14 & Woodard. We were greeted nicely, after a while my wife found a pair of Tiffany & Co. glasses that she fell in Love with, I then approached the counter and said, "we are ready for the next step. we were then directed to "sit over there" she pointed to a desk. From there it went downhill....we asked about Sun vs. Tint and that seemed to upset this young lady that doesn't know the 1st thing about customer service. I finally said that we would Buy them, just over $1,100.00 She then looked at my wife and said "your Husband is Rude" I can just say, it was a Shit Show from there, this young entitled girl went after my Wife, called her a Bitch, had to be held back from her co worker. I had an appointment a year ago, exam was ok, but the price for progressive glasses was very high even, with a good insurance. That is why I had my exam and glasses done at a different place this year. Few weeks ago I received an email asking me to confirm an appointment for an exact day and time, that I had not made. I called to clarify, I was told it was an automated email (??). I asked to be removed from their list and I was told they removed me. Today I received another email, asking me again to confirm an appointment for next week, that again I had not made .. I called again the store, explained my previous request, the lady told me she removed (today, again!) me from their call list; when I asked her to make sure she removes my email, she hang up on me, irritated. I had to call back, spoke with another lady, who again hang up on me when I asked her to confirm. I called a third time and apparently talked with the manager, who at least confirmed. This was a very disappointing experience! Very aggressive attitude, very annoying marketing /sales tactics! read more

Went there today to get a pair of eyeglasses. We already had the prescription. We walked in stood there for about 10 seconds and that one of the employees said a word to us. We finally approached them said that we needed some glasses and they said take a look around. We picked out a frame took them to one of the employees. Said she couldn't fill the prescription because we had two prescriptions one for the lenses and one for the prisms. Written by different doctors. The girls said they had to be written on one script. We told them they were two different specialists two different prescriptions how could we get them written on one script? Ridiculous we left. I stopped by with several pair of glasses that needed minor repairs. At the door, I found I needed to call for someone to let me in. They did all of the appropriate covid safety checks and then I got to meet with Julie Nelson. None of my glasses were purchased there, however, Julie was extremely pleasant and repaired 3 pairs. When I asked what I owed her she said nothing. So courteous! So helpful! Covid precautions (mask, hand wash, Temperature check, distance). I came to Pear Vision this past Tuesday looking for sunglasses. I found a pair I loved and was told to have a seat. A young sales associate soon came to help, along with her attitude. I wanted to customize my lenses and she was getting annoyed with my questions and was very short with us.(Me & my husband). She made a simple process very complicated. I made my decisions and was ready to purchase when she said to me. "Your husband is very RUDE ". This conversation escalated quickly, turning loud and verbally abusive. We left without making a purchase & this sales associate had to be held back by a coworker as she was coming for me out the door. We may not be the easiest customers but we are ALWAYS kind and respectful. I was beside myself! I called the manager later that afternoon and she told me " Everyone has a perception on how they should be treated ".... I am still beside myself....Is this a new kind of customer service where the customer doesn't deserve kindness and respect? Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this store and I will share my story if it helps save someone else from the trauma I dealt with that day. read more

Horrible service. Acknowledged when we walked in but no one offered to help. When a women employee overheard me saying I needed Varilux lenses she said they could not get those even though we have VSP insurance where the glasses are sent to be made. Varilux is one of the best known progressive lenses and again are most definitely an option with our insurance. We were told we could not buy frames without lenses and take them somewhere who could get me the lenses I need. The women never looked at us, never got up from her chair, never offered any help or alternatives. We had budgeted $2000 as we both needed new regular glasses and sunglasses but we felt dismissed and left to never return. Don't waste your time either. read more

Went to Pearl Vision in Royal Oak for eye exam and a new pair of glasses, the eye exam was perfect, and people working the front desk were helpful and friendly. I was told that if I bought a second pair of glasses they would be 50% off so I bought some sunglasses as well. I forgot why I don't go to these places often...it's not exactly the truth when they say that (50%off)! The woman was very friendly and when everything was all said and done, I could have flown to California and back for less! Although I felt like this was a crazy amount of money, that's not the part that bothered me. When I went to pick up my two pairs of glasses, the sunglasses I bought were sooo stretched out that I was shocked! They were about 2-3 inches from where the arms should be on both sides. I've never seen anything like that EVER! The woman working said that this happens when they put your prescription in them??? I find it hard to believe that they would ruin the arms like that and not fix them before the customer who paid a freaking decent amount of money, comes in to get them...this just can't be true. It looked like someone sat on them. The woman heated them up and brought them in some, but the arms look totally wonky and a little twisted. I'm not one to write reviews, especially a not so hot review until now. Its pretty disappointing to tell the truth. I tried those exact glasses on two and a half weeks ago, and they weren't blown out. If this happens often when they put your specific lens into the frame, I wonder how I've never seen it before in all the years I've been wearing glasses. Shame on them read more

I went here as my normal place didn't have any appointments for a while and was old by a few ppl that it was a fine place to go to. I ordered my contacts and was told the following week they'd be at my house. a week goes by and no contacts. i thought maybe i misheard him and waited another week. no contacts. so i called to see where they were. i was told no one ordered my contacts on their end and the following week they'd be at my house. i waited 2 more weeks before i called to see where my contacts were AGAIN. guess what i was told....they had never been ordered and yet AGAIN would be at my house the following week. no surprise, they werent. i had to call THREE times to get my contacts ordered. whatever, i chalked it up to i just wont go there again. it gets even better. i bought the extra insurance for my sons glasses (along with many other little things they added to the invoice that i did NOT approve. including the "scratch proof" lenses, that btw, scratched to hell and had to pay for another set). he broke them. i took them in to get them replaced and was told 2 weeks tops (because i had to replace the scratched lenses). 3 weeks go by and i called to see if they were in. YOU GUESSED IT, THEY WERE NEVER ORDERED!!!!! i will NEVER go to this place again. read more

I made an eye doctor's appointment the day before, and they were quickly able to see me. I had been seeing concerning floaters in my eyes. Their paperwork, which they claimed was HIPAA Privacy Act paperwork was not compliant with the law, and had none of the language required under federal law. The page they tried to have me complete and sign, did not have the Privacy Act attached to it, but was a separate laminated couple of sheets, that was only intended for reading. As I was reviewing things, another employee came to my right flank and stared at me. I walked out without signing anything and without seeing the doctor. I suggest they get the 2019 HIPAA Manual for Healthcare Providers available online for something like $335 at www.oshamanual.com. read more

Have been coming to PV for a few years and they really have it together! I never have to wait when I arrive. They have all my paperwork together when I get there. The doctors are friendly. And when it comes time to pick out glasses and check out, Hope is hands down the best. She has, on a few occasions, managed my family of four (with two kiddos under the age of 8) in one appointment like a pro. I chose this location because they accept my insurance. My exam was scheduled for 11:40 a.m. I saw the Doctor at about 12:10 p.m. He was professional, courteous, thorough. When it came to purchasing my glasses; I felt the sales associate was constantly "up selling" me. Perhaps that is their business model. She showed me several expensive frames; and didn't show me any frames within my insurance coverage reimbursement. I had to seek those frames out on my own. I'd give their frame selection a 2 (on the 5 point scale). My associate was simultaneously helping another family; which added additional time onto my visit. She also had difficulty figuring out my insurance reimbursement. I did finally choose frames that I wasn't 100% happy with; but were within my price range. Also, it was almost 1:30 p.m. before I was finished. In my mind: that is too long. I do not believe they do a good job of explaining all the "options" they select for you; and expect you to pay until you disagree with the price. AND then miraculously they can find a lower price. If they didn't accept my insurance I most likely would not go here. read more

The customer service that I received was one of the best that I have had in a long time. I was a few minutes early and they started my exam immediately. Everyone was courtious and helpful especially the young lady who assisted me in purchasing my glasses. Julie (Nelson) spirit was unbelievable we connected from the start. Julies love of God beemed so bright it was unbelievable. Normally I run into people of faith and we have a good time talking about how good God is but this was like no other. I'd recommend if you like; 1. Overpaying 2. Waiting forever for your glasses. The last two times I've purchased glasses here, its taken forever to get them. They over promise and underdeliver. The date I was given (9 days after order) has come and gone and they still are not ready. This is a simple prescription with no fancy coating or edging. I think if they told you how long you would really have to wait when you order, you'd likely leave! This is why they give you an unrealistic date when they'll be ready. The prices are high too. Even with insurance, you are still overpaying versus online or others. The eye exam was professional and thorough. I'd recommend you get your glasses elsewhere though. read more

Would rather recommend a small/private-owned eye doctor practice. Made an appointment through their online system. Whenever I had to confirm my appointment, I confirmed through my email notification. Showed up 10 minutes earlier than the time I scheduled-- when I arrived, the lady at the front desk seemed happy to tell me I was 10 minutes late to my appointment. I showed her on my phone what my email confirmation said and she replied that they don't have control over that online system. I just left an appointment today for myself and husband. I came in and spoke with the girl at the front desk was nice and handed me our paperwork with instructions. Then we sat and waited another women that worked there asked me a few questions regard my paper work. I felt a vibe that she wasn't really friendly and after talking to my husband he felt the same way. She was dry, short, no smiles..I could not wait to see the doctor. She made not attempt to make the visit pleasant. She finally took me into the room and as she is walking out with her back turned to me told me the doctor will be in soon. Dr. Foon came in with a smile, shook my hand, answered questions and did his thing. I feel that is professional and the standard of what customer service is like. Then after we were done he walked me to the next person Nancy who made the appointment wayy better. My rating would be worse if I only had to deal with the first chick. Side note: There were 2 ladies who work there that I will avoid like the plague when I go back. Nancy was so knowledgeable on insurance. Her customer service and personality had me smiling so much I have to only work with her. She answered our questions made very good suggestions and I walked out so happy and satisfied not really upset I racked up a large bill from my picks. Thats what you want.
