We broke down around Holland, MA approximately two days ago. Our car overheated. Ended up that we needed a new caliper. The car was towed to one of the local gas stations, Robert's Auto Clinic in Holland. When we finally got to the gas station, we were exhausted and didn't know the area very well. It was 105 degrees outside. The younger son of, I'm assuming, Mr. Pearson, was nasty. The kid kept calling his father, asking him what to do about the situation. Keep in mind that it was 105 degrees outside and we were waiting for an hour. He towed the car about five miles down the road and charged my Mom $250 CASH ONLY for the tow and he refused to give us a receipt for the "cash-only" payment - so that my Mom could submit the receipt to her insurance when she got back to NJ. Honestly I've never heard of tow truck companies who accept cash only. No check, and definitely no credit card. He was lucky that my Mom had the cash. He told us that since it was an emergency 911 state call since we broke down that we couldn't pay using a check or a credit card. I've never heard of such a thing. For all I know, Pearson's Towing could be a very good business. Maybe if we encountered the father instead of the son, things would have gone easier and it would have been more palatable. Definitely not good when people rip each other off and are rude about it. The fact is that sometimes people break down. The kid just took the money and left us there. The other reviewer gave Pearson's a five-star rating. I gave Pearson's a one-star rating because I felt that because we were from out-of-state that we got treated poorly. read more
