I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Dr. Edwards, she has gone above and beyond for my cats with with a long list of complex medical issues. I'm there often with them and she always goes out of her way to figure out what treatment is best for them and does all she can to keep the cost down for me. My cats aren't just another number on the chart there, they're treated with all the love and care they deserve. P.S. I've gone to places like 1st pet that have charged me over $300 that did nothing to help my cats. Today is an extremely sad day for me. 01/20/2025 at 12:22 PM, My Roseigh passed. She was 12 Years, 8 Months, 3 weeks, 12 Hours and 21 Minutes old. My Heart is very saddened. I was not happy with my longtime vet and have been "shopping" around with my dogs for a while now to find the perfect fit. I received 2 different recommendations about Pecan Grove and Dr Edwards and decided to give them a try. My first visit was to have my Rott checked out when she had sever congestion and coughing fits all weekend. The Dr. examined her and instead of insisting on every test under the sun said we should try antibiotics for her cough. If it did not clear up then we should start looking at other things. The antibiotics did the trick and she was fine in a couple days! My second trip was to take my new rescue dog in for his first check up. They were completely thorough, let me ask endless questions and patiently answered all of them. I am also a big believer in holistic remedies and when I brought it up instead of shutting me down we had a constructive conversation on what she found more helpful- or not. One of my dogs is a big time drama queen about the vet and they handle his thrashing / screaming / melting down better than any other place we've taken him. I absolutely recommend this hospital to those looking for a forever vet. Going to the vet is scary especially when it involves a family member, but pecan grove is the right choice. I have already brought my rabbit and recently my dog here for treatment and the staff, vets, and vet techs have been amazing and so helpful. Dr. Holmes has performed surgery on my rabbit (teeth removal and neutering). He told me everything I needed to know beforehand and even promised that if he did not do the procedure properly he would not charge me for returning to do the procedure again. He followed through and even called a couple days later to make sure everything was fine. He works with a rabbit rescue and will give you a discount if you mention them. Dr. Tuttle took care of my cutie pie. she was bit by some neighbor's dog and had an infection in her paw. although cutie was a bit hesitant to treatment, Dr. Tuttle did not hurt her. She informed me of everything I needed to know to make sure that the wound would heal up properly. Cutie is also a new addition to my family and I know nothing about her. Dr. Tuttle made sure that I knew what types of vaccinations I needed to give her and also preventive care such as oral care, heart worm prevention, and boosters. I asked a lot of questions concerning Cutie and she was patient and made sure all my worries were gone. By the end of the appointments, I felt like I could go home and take care of my pets in their time of need. The facility is a bit small, but they are well equipped and even have their own pharmacy. Doctor Edwards is amazing. She cares so much about her patients, and gets incredibly invested in their treatment and recovery. I live in Orange County, but my mother lives about 5 minutes from Pecan Grove. My mom has been taking her animals in for years, and I have heard nothing but great things. Last year, I took my dog to a local vet because she had developed a couple of cysts, the vet told me that she required surgery, which would cost over $2,000 because it required anesthesia. I was visiting my mom anyway, so I decided to bring my dog to her vet for a second opinion. Dr. Edwards said that the surgery only required local anesthesia, and could be taken care of that afternoon; she charged me $170. A couple of weeks ago, I again decided to take my dog to see Dr. Edwards for a cyst removal (the drive was worth the savings and gave me an excuse to see the family). This time Dr. Edwards indicated that the cysts were much deeper, and the surgery would require anesthesia. I trusted her and let her go forward with the surgery. It cost me less than $350. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! With much sadness and heavy heart I scheduled an appointment with Pecan Grove to euthanize my 14yo pup who suffers from seizures, is blind, and in declining health overall. At the time I called to make the appointment, I asked about their COVID protocols. I was told all staff and visitors wore masks. After a very emotional week leading up to the appointment date, I finally mustered up the courage to take him in. I was wearing an N95 mask and safety goggles the entire time. When I arrived I noticed the receptionist shuffling with her mask and apparently putting it on only because I walked in. After I was led into the VERY small consultation room, the vet tech came in with a very loose fitting mask. We discussed the details of why I was there and I signed the necessary paperwork giving them authorization to relieve my boy of his suffering. How I was able to do any of this through the tears and heartache is all a blur. After what seemed like an eternal wait, while cradling my pup, the vet tech finally returned to inform me that the veterinary doctor CHOSE not to wear a protective face mask and if I was okay with that. Suffice it to say that in that moment of deep despair I was floored that a medical professional would CHOOSE not to wear a mask when interacting within 3ft of the general public. I informed the vet tech that I am the caregiver for my 80yo mother who has serious underlying health issues and would not be comfortable with anyone being that close without wearing a mask. She offered to take my pup to the "back room" so that he could be euthanized away from my presence. WOW just WOW!! I'm a very sensible and logical person, and under normal circumstances have no problem confronting and challenging such cruelty and ignorance. However in that moment, I was feeling so much emotion I just decided to leave. I returned home with my dog and took it as a sign that it was not his time to go just yet. I will continue to care for and love on him until his little body gives out. As for this so-called vet doctor, I would advise folks to NOT trust your pets health or YOUR health to her. With COVID cases exploding in Maricopa County and Arizona, that this business does not see it necessary to protect the general public and their own staff from a highly infectious and deadly virus boggles the mind. Given their callousness to their fellow humans, I can only imagine what helpless animals must experience in their hands while owners are not present. I'm glad that I did not allow that with my pet. I think it's time for this vet to retire . She clearly lacks the empathy one would hope for when trying to find the cause of a problem with one's pet. Her practice, I know now, is to have minimal to no interaction with the pet owner and you can simply expect a text or email at the end of the day, all very clinical. No opportunity to ask questions or consult about the next step. Her excuse is that she sees patients all day and hasn't taken a lunch break in two years she's so busy. Great. Someone take her a sandwich please. She's nothing more than a cold conveyor belt set up to collect the money, give you your pet back and be in touch later. And if you don't know this ahead of time, that's not her fault. I don't think she really cares. It's a business and nothing more. That's fine, just know that going in. read more

I'm a hoarder....let me put that another way, I'm an over indulgent DINK, who takes her pets and their needs, wants and perceived desires very seriously. (Stick with me, the crazy train hasn't derailed yet, these vets are awesome) So, when I first went to Pecan Grove, I was wanting a fancy lobby and exam room and well, it doesn't exist. I thought my one eyed cat and the rest of the crew that have been rescued over the years from the e-list would need granite counters, hydraulic exam tables and flavored waters, turns out we don't. I am giving them the best when I take them to Pecan Grove.. No fancy lobby or exam room, instead, Pecan Grove is a nice hospital who doesn't cater to my crazy side but does an excellent job of meeting the medical needs of my pets while also keeping my wallet in check even if I'm willing to empty it all over their lobby in an effort to give my "babies" everything they need....yes, I will look into a therapist after I finish this review... Dr. Edwards is who I typically see and she is extremely knowledgeable. I have had the usual host of kitty colds, dog ear infections, kitty ear mites and the like and the much more life threatening and unfortunately life ending experiences with her and she has gotten me through all of them with a great deal of finesse and I've always felt my pets were in the best hands possible. They have gotten me specialists when necessary and have delivered the news that even the best medicine would not cure what ails my pet and helped me with those decisions as well. My Fiance surprised me with a new puppy, which means a doggy doctor is needed. I have been to Pecan Grove previously to see Dr. Holmes for my rabbit domino. The visit was quick, affordable, and he gave me a bunch of suggestions as preventative measures for common rabbit ailments. I saw Dr. Edwards yesterday with my new puppy Bernie. She was very friendly, informative and kinda hot. Bernie liked her and that is what matters. I love that she took the time to actually pet him and get her face licked....he's a real vicious one. I got his second vaccination, and she informed me of the parvo epidemic that spread across the valley. After being thoroughly scared, I thought I should do a stool sample since he was around other dogs a week ago, but instead of running the test and charging me, she said it was not necessary as he has shown no symptoms and is in great condition. I was given a puppy packet, a free month of pet insurance, a month supply of heart work preventative and again, even though I was ready to buy the 6 month supply, she told me to wait since Bernie is growing so fast. I really love that they are not trying to sell me everything under the sun. Second great experience here, and intend to stay with this vet. read more

Unfortunately I don't think I will be returning to Pecan Grove. I have always felt comfortable and welcome, until my last visit, when I found out Dr. Holmes had sold the practice. That wasn't the problem. I brought in 2 of my dogs and once I had warned the vet tech that my male is touchy with being touched she felt no need to pay him some attention before she started the check up, to which he didn't like and according to her "teethed her". As in didn't bite. But did not like or know she was going to touch him. I was then left in the little 8x6 room with 2 dogs for 30 minutes. I was seconds away from walking out. Dr. Edwards came in and proceeded to stick up for her tech (which I understand having heard one side of the story) and left me feeling a full check up was not performed and made me feel like my dog would most likely need to be put down and asked if he scares me. I do not think that in a situation such as this a pet owner should be made to feel that way. From where I sat I told the tech she needed to give him some attention for him to trust her, she did not. Thus, I will not return after 10+ years as a patient. read more

I was refered to Pecan Grove by a friend and have had great experiences. I live in central Phoenix, so changing to a vet in Tempe was a big sacrifice. But, Dr. Holmes and his staff are awesome. They managed the care of both of my dogs in their later years, keeping them comfortable and pain free when they needed it. When I moved to Arizona 2 years ago, I visited many veterinarians to find one I liked. Out of all of them, only Pecan Grove took the time to give me a tour of their offices. I met most of the staff that day, and they were all very friendly. They were also very proud of the fact that they were painting and doing various improvements to the office themselves, which I thought showed their dedication. Every visit, me and my dog were treated like family. Out of all the veterinarians I have used over the years, I felt the staff was the best, and that includes one veterinarian that I knew personally in Connecticut. Recently, I made the decision that I needed to euthanize my dog due to age and health problems. The staff were all very respectful, and supportive. They made a very difficult situation as painless as it could be given the circumstances. The thing that stood out in my mind the most, I received a personalized condolences card a few days later. There is simply no place better for rabbits!! Best prices, EXCELLENT care!!! Dr. Holmes is wonderful, sincere, compassionate, and fair! And he absolutely never pressures you. I brought my rabbit George here because he got an abscess. Dr. Holmes treated him at an excellent price (something I could afford on a college budget, his whole surgery, bead implants, medicine, and everything was about 400$, and trust me you won't get a better price for perfection). What I LOVED was that he showed me everything that was going on with George. He never took him into the back room like most vets do then return telling you you'll have to pay some ridiculous price to fix who knows what. Not Dr. Holmes! With the abscess, he opened George's mouth for me and showed me the problem areas with his telescope and really educated me on his situation. He removed his bottom tooth and the surgery went perfectly but now with no bottom tooth, his top one grows very fast and needs to be trimmed. I was very concerned about $$$ but I shouldn't have!!! Because instead of having me come in and charging me once a mouth for a trim he taught me how to trim Georges teeth myself!!! Its been over a year now and George is still healthy and his teeth are great! I have since moved to to Texas and am extremely sad about the veterinary care here: a check up bill over 200$, a nurse who kept badgering me to spend more money on extra treatments, and a vet who messed up on a teeth spur trim on my other rabbit (who probably didn't even need it in the first place) and charged me extra for it!! I have 2 dogs and 2 rabbits and all four have had their share of health problems at one time or another. Dr. Holmes is one of those rare vets out there that is in this field for the right reasons. Pricing here is incredibly reasonable, they do not do unneeded testing, Dr. H is honest and on the very rare occasion something comes up where he isn't 100% sure on something he will straight up tell you that and either do some more research/investigating or if needed he will refer you to a specialist for a second opinion. (FYI: the one time one of our dog's was referred to a specialist, Dr. Holmes was right and it was recommended our dog continue to take the meds already prescribed by Dr. H.) We were originally patients of the exceptional Dr. Holmes, for many years, at this location. Unfortunately for us, we stayed after he left. In my 40 years of being a pet owner and going to veterinarian offices this is, by far and away, the WORST I have ever encountered. The office is so horribly managed now, I actually had to witness my miniature Schnauzer attacked, and very nearly killed in their waiting room by a massive great dane, whose owner had zero control over him. Immediately following this attack, Dr. Edwards claimed she didn't have time to "sew her up" and sent us to another emergency hospital 4 miles away. In the weeks that followed neither Dr. Velvet Edwards or the owner of the vicious dog reached out even ONCE to inquire on my dog's health OR to take any responsibility, which they clearly share. If this office were managed properly my schnauzer and the great dane would have never seen each other. Likewise, if the owner of the dane had any doubt she had total control of her dog she should have taken precautions to avoid this horrible situation. As bad as this is, it isn't the only issue we've had at this office, earlier this year they actually sent us home with the WRONG medication, which, if we hadn't caught it in time, could have seriously impacted the health of our dog. This past summer I moved to Boston and regrettably haven't found a quality veterinary hospital like Pecan Grove. Ashamedly, even after talking to my current vet and be unsatisfied with their answers, we called Pecan Grove and Dr. Holmes was very helpful and was even able to reference cases and articles to us over the phone. While the answer we got from our Boston vet sounded more like they were guessing than actually knowing the answer. Watch your bill! Years ago I took my cat there cuz she had climbed into my car without my noticing til the next day - in the summer heat. I immediately put her into a sink of cold dish water to quickly cool off before taking her to Pecan Grove. Estimate $186, kept overnight giving fluids. Bill over $600 for unauthorized tests, etc, who knows what now. Paid with credit card. When doing my income taxes noticed the $600+ was charged twice. I provided proof to the clinic office manager who reluctantly gave me a refund of one of the duplicates, complaining that they had since changed credit card management companies & would have trouble with it. So not only did they overcharge me $416 plus $600 - total over $1000, they complained when asked for a refund. read more

Pecan Grove Veterinary Hospital is hands-down the BEST vet I have ever been to. When we adopted our first rabbit, Cinnabun, from a rabbit rescue, they recommended Dr. Holmes at Pecan Grove. We soon found out that Cinnabun was a medical nightmare, suffering from malocclusion (he had to get his front teeth surgically removed multiple times per year), a chronic upper respiratory infection (we had to give him antibiotics continuously), and the reoccurrence of abscesses in his jaw (which had to be surgically removed). Throughout Cinny's 6-year life, Dr. Holmes and the people at Pecan Grove Veterinary Hospital showed the utmost care and love for our little rabbit. Everyone there knew and loved Cinnabun, and I will be forever grateful to them for taking care such good care of him. When he passed, they set us a personalized sympathy card which meant a lot to our family. We take our dogs here now too and the same care and love they showed Cinnabun was also bestowed upon our dogs. I will never go to any other vet after my experience at Pecan Grove.
