We came here for the Autumn Fair (September 20, 2025). It was a free event with a lot of fun activities: hay rides, kids games, pumpkin painting, demonstrations. They also had other activities for a small cost: pony rides, petting zoo, bounce house. We also purchased food and participated in the gift basket raffle. We were there for at least 3 hours. The park is great for kids older than 4. There's also a water area that is fun for both older and younger kids. The butterfly house was also a hit. Many butterflies landed on us while we were in there. Overall a great place to visit, definitely stop by as well when an event is going on for extra activities. read more

Star gazing at Peck Farm Park was so interesting. Saw Jupiter and four of its moons. The moon was also spectacular! The astronomy club has outreached on Saturday of every month, weather permitting. Great experience. read more

Such a cute place to see! I love walking in and hanging out with all the butterflies for a little while! I have been fortunate enough that a couple times I've been - I sat on the bench and some butterflies landed on me! Sat for a while! Very cool for kids! My boys love it! This place is absolutely gorgeous! I literally googled butterfly farm IL and found it. New to Wheaton and exploring areas and beyond. There was a shaded picnic spot with a few tables located right by the butterfly house. You can bring your own food and coolers. Parking lot is pretty close. The butterfly house is free, but don't be cheap support local and make a donation. Cash bins or QR code. Strollers are not allowed inside the house but can be left in the sunroom entrance just before you enter. The volunteers were nice, the flowers and garden beautiful. We went on a pretty hot day and didn't check out the playground but I will very much be back. Kid/family friendly! read more

Great space for families to be outside and enjoy nature! The butterfly house is so beautiful, and the perfect opportunity to see butterflies up close. We LOVE to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the splash pad and park afterwards. We also really enjoy coming here for walks/bike rides/roller blading/scooters... and the indoor nature center is interesting for the younger kids too! The Peck Farm staff does a phenomenal job leading children through programs where they learn about their ecosystem and environment. The staff also does a fantastic job in hosting tailored birthday parties for children. Peck Farm is a beautiful space and we're so grateful we can visit year-round! read more

I was more than pleasantly surprised with how my son took to Nancy's instruction. My son is on the autistic spectrum and this is the 1st activity he wants to continue. Nancy is Just what my 13 year old son needs. She is kind yet firm and allows the kids to be independent but there when necessary. My son has learned a lot and has more confidence. He advocate for himself when hes at the lesson in that is something new. I hope to continue taking my son there as long as he wants. read more

Loved this place! Thankful for Erica P's review, which clued me in that there is more to Peck Farm than meets the eye. You have to walk a bit, past a few buildings and a somewhat unhelpful map, before the major play area becomes visible. Hawks Hollow was the main attraction for us, aside from the obvious Butterfly House. A splash area, a water pump, mud painting, plenty of obstacles to climb, a few slides...definitely a kid's dream. There are plenty of covered tables for eating lunch, which you'll probably want to bring along, since a couple of hours can easily be spent here. Don't miss the silo, with a winding metal staircase to climb inside for views of the surrounding area. The restroom and water fountain could use updating, I think, but so it goes with park district facilities. Also, I don't know what the story was with all the caution tape adorning the farmhouse and some parts of the water area, but it had a decidedly unnaturelike flare. read more

This is Geneva's Park District's best kept secret. I've lived in the area for years and didn't know it existed! If you love butterflies, you need to check it out during the warm months. There is a suggested donation so it won't cost you nearly as much as Brookfield Zoo's butterfly exhibit, plus it's larger. My husband and I arrived at 9 am when the Butterfly House opened and had it to ourselves for nearly an hour. After getting lots of beautiful photos of the colorful insects, we checked out the observation silo and the flower garden on site. This is definitely a place we'll be visiting annually. Finally, I can review on my phone! Peck farm is not really a farm any more. It's basically a historical museum + nature center + butterfly house. The ground are kept tidy (sensory garden & prairie fields) as well as the restrooms located in the farmhouse. Currently, they are building a nice tree house playground just east of the farm house. It will be an awesome feature when its finished, which I expect should be completed by September 1, 2013 The silo is painted with murals on each level except for the fourth floor. Many come to see the butterfly house which I think is cute. But I can't bring myself to pay the couple of dollars after my flagship experience an Peggy Notebaert downtown. Just can't do it. Would give it 5 stars if there were actual sheep here. Tiny touch and feel wool samples are nice but not enough. Check it out at the farmhouse. read more

If you are looking for a fun park to take the kids to equally entertain them and get out some of their energy, Peck Farm is your place! The historical farm provides and educational outlet for kids to learn while still having fun. All learning is very hands on! Pulling up to the farm the first thing you will see is the butterfly house. There is no general admission cost but they highly encourage donations. And it is definitely worth it! You can walk around the house with a butterfly guide to help you identify the different species. Further down the path, there is the main farm house that has loads of activities from puzzles and games to small critters on display. The real fun is outside on the park. There is an area from kids to play music and put on a show on the wooden stage. There is a small splash pad and creek the flows through the park. So make sure to pack a suit for the kids if you don't want their clothes to get wet. The actual playground has a look-out tower, slides and maze below. All areas have little plaques talking about nature and the animals that inhabit the area. If you continue to walk farther towards the pond in the middle there is a large silo. You can climb all the way to the top, as the murals on the walls change from pre-historic times to present day on the upper floor where there are look-out windows over the farm. Overall, this park is absolutely amazing and is super fun! When I was a nanny, I would take the kids here on a weekly basis. They loved it! read more

So happy to have found Peck Farm! Our little one loved the free nature center and butterfly house, both were clean and lovely and we found the staff to be friendly. The natural trails are great for a short hike, and the floating dock was fun to picnic on and watch baby geese waddle by. There's an observation silo and covered picnic areas. Hands down the best part was the natural park. I wish all parks were set up like this! What a treat. We honestly spent hours between the splash pad area, the creek bed, mud painting, the musical instrument stage, slide, fort, balancing beams, hut and all the other thoughtful nooks and crannies hidden about. A fantastic place to get your child engaged in imaginative play. End the evening sitting in the rockers off the porch watching the sun set over the hills. This gem is a 30 min drive from us but we will definitely be back, highly recommend! read more

We love this place! Parking is easy and close, just west of the house and playground. The playground is large and is great for all kids. The path and landings are wide so there's always plenty of room. There are different ladders, ropes and slides. My kids love the hawks nest! There's also a musical area with chimes and drums for the kids (young and old) to play. The water feature runs from the top of the playground to the bottom and is very shallow so kids can hop right in. There's also timed water jets that shoot out of the ground. Peck Farm Park is a great park district facility in Geneva. Previously owned (and worked) by the Peck family, the park is now open to the public year-round, and features hiking trails, a fantastic butterfly house, historical museum, observation tower (well...silo), and a great children's playground. The park includes about five miles of walking trails, many of which wind through prairie-scape. Our dog goes nuts for the prairie, and to be quite honest, so does my stepdaughter. We spend a lot of time looking at nature - baby pine trees, milkweed, butterflies, etc. We dragged both of them out there on Thanksgiving for a walk, and while our little one complained about the cold in the beginning, we couldn't get her to leave in the end! I hope to put together a scavenger hunt for her in the summer so we can explore the prairie a bit more. The butterfly house is open during the warmer months - I think end of May to end of September - and includes hundreds of butterflies, all native to Illinois. At the start of the season, the park district offers a Butterfly Release Party, and in the middle of the season (July), it offers Adopt-a-Butterfly. These two programs are essentially the same - kids listen to a talk about the butterfly life cycle before releasing their very "own" butterfly into the house. Then they make a butterfly craft. We received a cute adoption certificate at this event last year - it was a huge hit. The rest of the time, the butterfly house is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The facility recommends a donation of $2 per person or $5 per family. The staff could be a tad bit friendlier, especially toward kids, but it's a fun experience nonetheless. We haven't toured the Peck family home or gone up to the top of the observation silo yet, but I can tell you about the new playground, Hawks Hollow, which is amazing. The Geneva Park District really outdid themselves with this one. It features a stage with nature instruments, a beaver dam kids can help build (or play inside), a telescope kids can use to look for eagles (or hawks, in this area), a twisty slide and large climbing structures, and a very cool fountain system, where kids can splash and play. It is a nature playground, so don't go expecting swings and monkey bars. Instead, you can give your kids a really interesting play experience if you're willing to help your child use his/her imagination. My stepdaughter loves it! read more

I'm lucky enough to live right down the street from this park but it's worth the drive if you're not nearby. Such a beautiful park and nature preserve in one. They also have a free butterfly house that is open in the summer. My six year old niece absolutely loves the little creek that the kids splash around in. There's also a very splash splash pad like slab of cement with fountains that the kids play in. Lots of kids bring their bathing suits to splash around in the creek and fountains. This is a nice little gem up in the "wilds" of Geneva! You can enjoy an hour or an afternoon here. Do not forget to bring the children to witness and enjoy being among all the butterflies inside their enclosed butterfly space. Butterflies everywhere and double check that they don,t hitch a ride on you when you leave the enclosed space. There are no fees imposed however donations are accepted and well worth it. Also an extensive walking path should one be inclined to do so. The Peck house itself is an interesting museum on the history if that family and how this entire farm came to be. Well worth a nice couple hours on a sat afternoon read more

Amazing FREE find! Butterfly house is what brought us here. I thought they charged $2/person or $5/family. They do not charge, but accept donations. I dropped them my $5 bill that I was expecting to be charged, well worth it! After the butterfly house we headed over to Hawk's Hollow playground which also has a small splash pad with a rocky river pond that the kids walk and play in. After my 4 year old spent an hour at the splash pad filling her bucket and pouring it out, we went on a short walk through the wild prairie to the lake. Great hidden gem! A hidden gem. This park used to be a farm that was donated from the Peck family. It's a great place to walk, or bike, see the butterfly house in summer, or go for a picnic. Peck Farm is a new find for us, and is a wonderful little escape right in the middle of Geneva. My niece is 18 months, and even for children as little as her, this is a great outing. There is a free (donations welcome) butterfly house with the friendliest staff -- we were there at day end, and they even released butterflies for her. And the "nature playground" is really unique and fun -- she loves it. Great place to hike, walk dogs -- it's a new favorite for the area. read more

We had our daughter's birthday party at Peck Farm Park today. It was fabulous! The presenter did a wonderful job teaching the children about nature. They all went for a walk and got plaster casts of animal tracks. It was fun for everyone and the environment is beautiful. A great alternative to traditional birthday parties. read more
