Called PECO to ask a question about usage & was referred to green mountain energy. Was looking for some insight on why bill tripled from oct to nov when nothing changed. The WORST electricity company on this continent. PECO simply did not have my address in their system, so I was not able to pay or get my account information. I gave all the information I could to them. I even read the meter numbers to the customer service morons, but they still do not know what was going on. Now they are threatening me that they would turn off my service because I did not pay. They may be the company with the worst customer service, i have ever dealt with. first when I bought my new house i had to pay them in person, the back money for the property, i was given a check at closing, and told that pecco would shut off power if I did not hand deliver check within 5 days, so had to take off another day, look for parking and stand in a massive line to take care of this. then i get a call saying that i must provide them with my social security number over the phone to get my service set up, I had sent them a drivers licence and my bill of sale with settlement date already. i told the gentleman? that i was uncomfortable giving my social over the phone, i told him i didn't understand why i needed to give him that info, he said I was stupid if i didn't understand what he was explaining, I told him i understood what he said but still didn't seem right. He could not get that i was wary of giving my social over the phone, to someone who called me. That finally got straitened out and when I get my bill they charged me a large deposit because i haven't paid for electricity while living in Philadelphia for two years. i call and explain my apt had a service who handled electricity, and I have paid electricity monthly for two years. " well we have no record, and you will get the deposit back if you pay on time, so we suggest you pay it or be in default. I payed, i actually gnashed my teeth. read more

This is the second time in 5 months that the power's been out for over 24 hrs. The first time it took three days even after all the houses around us had power. It seems pointless to write a review of PECO, considering that i have no option but to continue giving this clusterfuck of an organization my money. But at least i can rant. I accidentally paid the same bill twice online (i have two accounts), i realized it immediately and attempted to contact them via phone and email to no avail (it was late). I tried to prevent the scheduled payment from going through the next day but with no luck. Anyway after peco withdrew the money, i overdrafted. They returned the payments (because they were insufficent) and then after my balance was positive again, withdrew them again without my permission causing me to overdraft a second time. Altogether i'm out $93 in overpayments and overdraft fees. They will not even return the amount overpaid to them. They're keeping it to the next bill which would be fine if i wasn't living paycheck to paycheck. Long story short don't pay online when you have multiple accounts cause one account will default as the primary to-be-paid even if its payment is already scheduled. Essentially this foolishness (which was initiated by poor website design and a small phone screen) cost me all of grocery money. But at least PECO can continue to provide thousands of pennsylvanians with poor customer service. read more

This is my first review and I can tell you that PECO has the worst customer service that I've ever experienced in my life. Plus, they never sent any paper bills or notices/warnings telling us that our electricity was going to be shut off. We finally paid and they said that they'd be over to turn it back on in the afternoon (today at 4). However, it's still not on, customer service is still being rude, and everything in my refrigerator is probably rotting right now. Thanks PECO, you make my life miserable. Peco called me to set up an appointment to update their meters we agree on a date set weeks in advance. Said they would be at my house between 8 and 12 which is a fairly large window but understandable. Well here I am, waiting on the endless lines, in unfriendly & unhealthy environment. Unlike my old landlord who setup me an account with my previous energy co. my current landlord want me to go to this place myself and setup an account with these people. He told me I must go in person to them, no phone calls or Internet to avoid bills piling up with them without even access to pay them ! Funny. Better I do as landlord said, he knows them better than me. It is easy to find their building in market st, so that's not a problem, but you have to find the right entrance and even within the right entrance you have to find the right Door to enter with, because there is one door for paying your bills & other for customer care services where people who are looking for setup new account like me shall enter. Getting inside spoke to receptionist explained why I am here ? They asked me do you want to open an account for business ? Lol it is my new Apt. Do I look like a businessman? Ha and if so, definitely I won't be here with you lol. They gave me a # took my initials and told me to waaaaaaaitttttttttttttt I asked how long I shall be waiting, no body knows, but I am informed that if they called my initials 3 times and I did not answer then I have to join the line again. Here we go their rules their game, OK I am waiting and waiting, kids crying mothers are sitting on the floor due to lack of waiting seats. The place decor is so shabby and outdated , looking at fast moving lines at billing windows those people are making more than $100K during this day alone , it is summer with AC skyrocketing bills this is so predictable , but with all this money they can not afford good sitting area for Their (valued) customers or even renovate this places?!! But since are people "forced" to come here, why not wasting bucks for the convenience of those "forced" customers ?! OMG I am not going to vote in November POUS election, I just want to setup an account to pay my electricity bills! No you must provide all these documents. OK, I have the lease, one ID and no birth certificate right now with me, looking at my papers with a detective eye then she accepted them, typing my address & phone # then saying I am all set! Oh that's pretty fast, any confirmation? I asked, she said the system won't allow her to print confirmation but I will receive my "welcome package" by mail, sounds odd to me you asked for my birth certificate a few minutes ago and now you can't even give me a confirmation ? Any how I jumped to my important question , after what I have seen and heard definitely I do not want to come back here to pay my bills , so I asked her about paying by Credit Card online , she said the "welcome package" will explain everything and I shall get it by mail soon , and she stood up, which clearly means I am no longer welcome at her office ! OK I went out! A few days later while I am moving to my new Apt. I checked the mail to find a a BILL from PECO! & nothing about the so called "welcome package" ! I thought they must be mistaken & this bill maybe belong to the previous tenant, but no, my name is there, I did not even finished 1 night in my Apt. & they are billing me waw! That's pretty fast, but reading the detailed bill I found out this bill is a deposit, ha here we go , so this deposit is refundable only when I move out and to get it I must go back again to their offices to have same treatment , hmm. Now the answer to my initial question about convince way to pay online is this , each payment with Debt or Credit Card is subject to $3.5 extra charges, terrific no wonder why their billing lines are so long! read more

That's right I'm a fan. I'm a huge fan. As a matter of fact I'm sitting next to my fan and it's running because PECO got my power on in about 50 minutes from when it went out - in the middle of the aftermath of Irene. They always do. And yes I know I could switch energy providers and save .0000001 cents per KW/hour, but I just don't give a damn, even though the supply side of the company is different than the guys that got my lights back on. I hope they add up all my .0000001 cents-es and give it to one of the guys that fixed my power. I would give them a full five stars but the automated answering service that I normally love when my power goes out because it tells me how many other people also lost power and even predicts when they can have it on by.........in this storm, had a 45 second explanation of how many crews were on the road and that they expected power outages for two weeks, and what the guys were eating for dinner, and how much rain fell - AND YOU COULDN'T SKIP OVER IT TO REPORT YOUR POWER OUT OR GET AN UPDATE. The best system for power outages in the world lets you call back and see if there is an update and when you call back you hear, " Due to Irene blah blah blah, they are going to eat bananas and sandwiches.... blahn blah blah" I cursed, yes I did. Very loud, in my car with the windows closed. So they lost one star. But whoever put my power back on - if I knew who you were - I'd buy you a cold beer and send you to a massage on me. Since moving from NJ in 2007 we have been amazed at our lousy PECO service. Mind you, we seem to be in some sort of Bermuda Triangle in Paoli. Our power has "reliably" gone out since we moved in. We have never had a period longer than 5 months without a multiple hour blackout. At this point I have PECO on speed dial. I really have to laugh at the glowing reviews and the comments on heroism. In a well engineered system, heroism is not required. We lost our power AGAIN tonight 5/24/13 and there is no scary hurricane. Just another utility pole can that blew up. Happens all the time. Bottom line is that we are on a circuit that needs to be re-engineered. But that would fix the problem. Much better to get the union boys out there costing tens of thousands each time than actually fix the problem. Do I think it is intentional? At this point I do. read more

I'd give you 0 starts if I could. I had a bill for $0.44 cents after I closed my account. I tried to pay it online multiple times, but it never allowed me to because it was less than the minimum. I tried to pay it over the phone, but got the same message. I started getting threatening voicemails and letters in the mail saying that they were going to send the bill to collections agency and ding my credit... all over a ridiculous bill for less than a dollar. I finally got a credit specialist on the phone who told me I had to pay about $8 just to settle the bill. Infuriating. I've been a loyal customer for years and got treated like a subhuman. This company is the absolute worst. Avoid getting service from them at all costs. read more

How do i give a negative star rating. Today, in the mail, we received a notice from a collection agency (LJ Ross) concerning a bill from 5 years ago from PECO for our sons apartment. Our son passed away 5 years ago last january and his estate was settled shortly after that. Despite everything being settled, PECO continued to harass us trying to collect on a very small bill. I was called several times, each time telling them my son had passed away and that his estate was settled; the callers cared less and even questioned if i was telling the truth about my son. Now 5 year later they persist with this letter. When i called the collection agency they say, sorry, just processing PECO's claim and when i call PECO that can't even pull up information on the account that's on the form i received. Great Job PECO!! great way to start ones day opening a letter like this addressed to our deceased son; and by the way, how come this is coming to MY address in MA when my sons apartment was in PA. What means did you use to get my address? Let's see how far this goes and how many more times you write me and hide behind these collectors. I do no ongoing business with PECO as I live in New Jersey. But recently I attended a conference at their facility and enjoyed it. PECO opened their lot for all the attendees, although I am not certain what prevented from others using it that day. The staff was friendly and directed the couple hundred of us to where we needed to go. More staff served us over our six-hour conference. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Sometimes, you go to their main office thinking you would get things done faster. I came to get my electric transferred to a new location and they want more identifications. It's crazy but they want you to sign you life away. All this information is already in the system and they want more. Not only did I waste my time but got sent home to get more id's. It's ridiculous how redounded they are. Driver's license check, social security ??? who carries their social security cards with them anymore. I have had no trouble with PECO. I have underground wires so typically when there are big storms it doesn't effect me - however on a beautiful clear day I will loose power from a car hitting a transformer or something. THey always have the power back on in a good amount of time. When it has been extended you can usually tell it was a big problem because there will be tons of giant trucks lifting new room sized equipment into the ground! I have been with peco for a ling time now and I have to say I havent been convinced that the service they provide is worth it. They keep on sending notice about how they can't get to the meter. My meter is located right outside my house all the person has to do is walk to the side of the house and it's right there. If the technicians are so incompitent they should look in to hiring a new group of people who actually are knowledgrable. Besides this when I called in about a problem with my bill I was trabsfered to 3 different individuals and at the end I ended up talking to the sane pwrson. After speaking to Comcast on the phone today (not fun), calling PEOC and speaking with the PECO customer service representative was a refreshing, educating, and pleasant experience. Karim was pleasant, calming, and asked me questions to better answer the questions I had about my service. I could understand him perfectly. He explained how the delta between my AC's nightime and daytime setting could make my AC work harder to breach the gap during the PM, and that the 9-day heatwave also contributed to my high bill. Basically, excellent customer service from PECO today--I will call them again anytime for assistance as it was such a pleasant and helpful one. There are not many companies I can call where my mood is enhanced *after* speaking with a customer service department, but PECO was one today! read more

Do not make payment online! When I tried to submit my payment online I kept getting a error message that they are unable to process my payment at time and to try again later. However when I went to check my bank account I notice the payment in fact did go through. So I was charge twice and they will not refund me my money for the error charge. read more

PECO's monopoly has to end. They take 3 business days to approve your application after you submit a fully signed lease, and then 3 additional business days to switch on your electricity, when you are a new customer. Unacceptable!!! No other company can treat customers like this, or they would be out of business. Why is PECO allowed to take all the time they want, to process your service request, and then to execute it??? I was at Peco Energy this afternoon. The customer service representative told me that I needed to go home and wait for a phone call on Tuesday of next week. Her name was Valerie. She said my request to use the CAP program is under review. I believe she stated that to me because I am a man and not a woman. I believe she committed gender discrimination. I believe if a woman would had requested the service she would had said it was not a problem to turn their utilities on. For being unfair towards me because, I am a male I think less people should sign up for Peco energy's service. Quickly they should terminate that customer service representative Valerie. It is woman like her who should be kept out of positions of power. I think her and all other hateful women like her try to keep females more powerful than males. She did an unfair act towards me today and I really hope she receives punishment for her actions. Long story short, I had to go to Peco buliding because Peco apparently couldn't solve a simple issue over the phone. I've had to so many phone calls but everyone was rude and unprofessional. The customer service at the building was OK but the phone service was horrible. Be sure to visit there as early as possible. Otherwise, the wait time would be forever. I really hope Peco finds more efficient way to solve issues. read more

PECO has consistently provided me with reliable service but their rates are much higher than the competition's. There have been about a dozen blackouts over the last 20 years, but they usually haven't lasted for more than a few hours and all were weather related. read more

I am writing this review as a new customer to Peco. I have recently moved in the beginning on July. I have called PECO right away to have the electric and gas in my name and in good faith to my landlords to back date it to June 29th. Let's skip the first month of using electric and gas. I waited the first week of August and still have not received a bill. I called PECO right away and spoke with a representative who was friendly to speak with. He said he forward my information to have my bill escalated right away. He gave me my account information but could not provide me with my total for the month so that I can pay. Another week went by and still could not get any information on how much my bill would be through the phone teller or online. I called again and spoke with another representative. He told me he would forward my information. I asked to speak to a supervisor but there was none available at that time. He would have the supervisor contact me back. The supervisor left a message on my phone later that day that he would have my information escalated. I waited another week and still cannot get any information in regards to my bill. Called again and spoke to the rude woman on the phone giving me the same BS information this time though she did say that I would have a meter read in sept. I find this unacceptable that it will take 2 months for a meter read when I have been wanting to pay me bill since the beginning of august. Now I am going to be charged for 2 months because no one in the billing department knows how to do their job? I had to call and follow up with PECO to have them finally activate my account on 8/15/19 after complaining twice. I asked immediately to speak to a supervisor. Once again none available. I asked to have the supervisor call me back. I have yet to received a message and I called on Monday it is now thurs. Current date is 8/29/19. Just checked my account it only shows a $6 activation fee which I find comical. Why is it taking 2 months to bill me? I am highly upset and sick to my stomach and I am still not guaranteed that the meter will actually be read on whatever date in sept. Not only that!!!! I am not receiving a bill for the Gas company and whatever company that is because I have YET to received that information. I am from philly and I am not familiar with how Bristol companies work. I am now going to write a letter to the VP Chief Officer of PECO because I am just disgusted that it is taking this long. Fortunately I have never had any major problems with PECO or PGW re: customer service but the best way to handle these miserable people is to always ask for their names, jot down the date and time and send the letter to the President/CEO of the company and to the Director of Human Resource. I sent this type of letter to Sears years ago and the extremely nasty customer non-service rep was terminated. The majority of these people are miserable, unable to transfer to another area within the company since bad news travels faster than good news and they're stuck in the same position until retirement. I live in a duplex and my tenants bill was $110 while mine was $60 which makes no sense bc I have a washer dryer etc and she has almost nothing! not even a tv! we call them out to investigate and they tell me its due to two foreign wirings in my basement.. aka the ones my township just made me install. They said the outlets went to my tenants circuit box.. which is true bc they are FOR my tenant.. we share the basement. They put her whole bill on mine until i agreed to put her basement outlets on my box.. then never further investigated..they they abruptly replace our meters.. ripping out a loaded meter.. which immediately made my tenants lights flicker and outlets were going on and off..they come out and say it was just a coincidence.. and for me to hire an electrician.. well i do and my electrician pulls down my tenants kitchen light to see all the wire fried ... thanks peco for nearly burning down my place.. and not giving a flying F##$! i want to bash you as many places as I can. slim balls. read more

I am disabled and I have been using the PECO CAP program and budget billing. I have paid every single bill on time for the twenty years I have been at this location. Then the CAP program gets "restructured" (meaning almost no help for me), and at a time when my disability income is not increasing to meet the ever rising costs of living, my electricity costs skyrocket and my budget billing amount rises forty dollars in one month. For the first time ever, I cannot pay my entire bill and I have to look elsewhere for assistance. When my helper and I called them, they had nothing useful to say except to look elsewhere for assistance. And that the new budget billing amount, determined by a computer, will stay at this amount for the next four months. I have always struggled financially, but I've tried to remain optimist, and I have always payed my bills. But more and more, while PECO and other big businesses keep raising their costs and helping disabled low income people less and less, the world seems like a very scary place for me to be. read more
