I had arranged for us to take a guided tour on their electrics. It was actually my first time riding an electric in the USA; the only other time I had ridden one was in southern France. We were given a thorough tutorial on safety and how to operate the bikes. It was us, our guide, and one married couple. After a tutorial, we began the electric bike ride through local neighborhoods, eventually getting to the pier at Myrtle Beach State Park. At one point, I was able to get my bike up to 20 MPH. Gotta love those throttles, they make the ride so much easier. It was $64 for a guided two hour ride, and it was well worth it. I'm not a fan of bike riding, but if I lived in an area conducive to bike riding, I would consider investing in an electric. read more

Amazing business. Couldn't recommend any more highly - and I don't tend to say that lightly. While Pedego also sells Pedego electric bicycles, they also rent out bicycles as well. You can rent by the hour, the three-hour, and the day - but he'll rent in half-hour increments as well. Got there without an appointment (yeah, I'm a butt like that), and the owner was happy to fit me into the schedule with three bikes for me. He'll ask about your height and help you pick out the best bicycle design for your height. He'll adjust the seat for you as well. He explained how the bicycle works (after all, most people aren't used to electric bicycles), and each person takes a turn on the bicycle with him watching to ensure you know what you're doing. He also offers free helmets if you choose to wear them. And THEN he starts your time-limit for a rental. Very friendly service and a very fun guy to talk to as well. The bicycles themselves were in fantastic shape. All of the batteries were fully charged, and our full-hour ride didn't even move any of the battery level away from "full". No mechanical problems at all. They were super shiny and kept in perfect condition. The Pedego bicycles are super fun to ride too - just independent of the business as well. They're heavier than regular bikes, but as you peddle, you can twist the handlebar section to add power. The bikes go to about 20 miles per hour, and while you'll work up a sweat if you peddle, you don't have to if you don't want to. You can just use the throttle when you want - to get you started from a stop or moving up a hill or whatnot. Decent location for this too. While the Market area doesn't want you riding on the sidewalk near the shopping district, there's a large lake (with birds!) and a bike trail easily within the hour-long limit. You could probably make it to the beach as well, but we weren't looking to do that. You won't have to ride much on the road at all. It was about $20 a person for an hour for this, and it was totally worth it. They also have a tandem bicycle that you can rent. They publically post their rates on their website, so it makes it easy to plan things - as you rent more bikes, you'll receive a discount as well. Fantastic. I feel like this is something most people should make a part of their vacation - especially if you're looking for a good fitness activity. Since you can add throttle to the bicycle as needed, the less in-shape people can just add more power while the more in-shape people can just use the bicycles for a fantastic workout and way to see the Market District area. read more

Awesome place to rent and also tryout and buy a super fun Pedego Electic Bike! Stopped in while on vacation and did the 2 hour guided ride through MB State Park with Owner Aaron Maynard who is such a great guy! Afterwards Aaron allowed everyone in the group to try anything in the store and was very thorough explaining them all. One couple bought a bike that day, and I took a catalog and did a lot of research for the last couple days of my vacation. On my last day in MB I stopped by and ordered my dream bike, the City Commuter Black Edition with Mag Wheels and lots of upgrades and had it shipped home to greet me several days after my arrival home. We went on the group ride on a Saturday at 10. It was 3 of us including a 3 yr old. We had such a fun ride. The owner was super accommodating and helpful as well as the other guy who assisted on our ride. During the ride you go through wooded paths with beautiful scenery, some adorable neighborhoods and to a pier on the beach for ice cream! Pedaling was great for those times you needed to go slow but when you didn't the electric throttle gave you speed and a cool breeze. My daughter in law is pregnant so she said she barely pedaled and let the bike do all the work. We've been here a week and done tons of cool stuff and this was our favorite outing! read more

Rented bikes for my kids and I. Great friendly service and the electric bikes were a lot of fun to ride. Be aware that kids need to be 14 to ride but they had a Burley trailer which worked great for my 6 year old. Could ride full electric or use it as extra boost as you ride along. What a great experience! These electric bikes are perfect because they allow you to use the electric power as a boost to your own pedaling or in place of....it's up to you. Did a bike tour with Aaron on a Sunday evening and really enjoyed the experience. The bikes are easy to ride and Aaron does a great job of teaching you how easy it is to ride. We actually rode approximately 10 miles but you'd never know it since we pedaled and I used the power as an 'assist' or to catch up to the group if I was going slower than them. The shop is located in Market Common. They do bike rentals for the hour or the day and one hour tours at 10 am on Wednesday and Saturday and one on Sunday evening at 6 pm. We took one of the Sunday tours and rode around market common ( a great way to get to know the area and what's there!), around the ponds and into some paved bike paths in the forest. We also headed over to Myrtle Beach State Park (entrance fee included) and took a stop at the pier at the beach. We then headed over to the Warbird park where there are some planes, then back to the shop. It was advertised as a pub tour so afterwards, we headed over to a restaurant with outdoor seating and enjoyed some drinks with Aaron, the owner. It really was fun. By the way, he rents bikes, does the tours and also once you fall in love with these bikes you might want to buy one. He sells them too! For anyone who likes the outdoors, wants something to use for commuting or has some issues with strength this is the bike for you because it lets you be as athletic as you want but has power if you need it! He explained everything in detail did a test run with us and provide helmets and bags for the front of bike and sent us on our way.. All of this instructions and a map to boot all for $20 buck for 1hour can't beat it. Also he pointed out (after) unfortunately if you pay with cash there is no tax. My mother was in town for the week and we decided to rent a pair of bikes for an hour. Let me tell you, that was the most fun (and exercise) I've gotten in a long time. You can tell that the owners care about maintaining their rentals and their customers. What's nice is that you can pedal your bike as much or as little as you want. We ended up staying out for an hour and a half because we were having so much fun riding through the neighborhoods and through the parks. Next time we will book the tour that they offer that goes around Market Commons and Myrtle Beach State Park. (Don't tell my mother, but I might even do that by myself before she comes back down.) To me, the prices are extremely reasonable at $20/hour. I thought it would be a lot more. I would recommend this to anyone, no matter what kind of physical shape you are in. You will have a blast! We were considering buying two electric folding bikes. We had never ridden one before so I wasn't sure if it would meet our needs or if my wife felt comfortable riding one. We thought this would be the perfect time to try an electric bike. We rented two just to try them and a few days later we went on a tour. They are a blast. We went 10 miles in about an hour and a half, including stops. There is no way my wife and I could ride a standard bike that far. My wife has had several knee surgeries so it was really nice to get out on the bikes. You can get as much of a workout as you want or as little. The Pedego bikes are very well engineered. Not cheap but you generally get what you pay for. We are going to purchase two Pedego Latch bikes to travel with us in our motorhome. Arron the owner was very helpful and answered all our questions.
