What needs improvement is the audience experience. We paid top dollar for a VIP table, only to find it was a two seater crammed with four seats. The wooden chairs are clunky and uncomfortable. Plus, I don't see the logic of the seating farther from the stage being higher priced. The dedicated restrooms and bar are not enough to compensate. Second, the logistics of this operation, and I mean layout of available amenities, is ill conceived. There is no flow to it. Multiple doors and ramps for ingress and egress, some get locked, and exiting the taproom is problematic with two beers. You have to back your way out to open the school style metal doors with their crossbar actuator. This night, the local Oli's food truck was a no show (advertised as part of the show), a big mistake at an event hosting Desert Highway. The resulting food line at the concession building and 45 minute wait for a pizza? Ludicrous. I got out of line and later saw the guy in front of me get his pie, almost 90 minutes later! On the way back to my seat, I thought I might pick up a bag of chips, but the single vending machine was "out of order." That struck me as being mismanagement and lack of caring. Someone dropped the ball. Realistically, the VIP and higher dollar seating tables should have dedicated wait staff for drinks and food. Customers shouldn't have to spend more than an hour traipsing around the grounds scrounging for drinks and simple bar food ... Until they fix some of these kinks, my advice is to bring your own chairs, or sit at the close-to-the-stage picnic tables. Be sure you eat before the show, because you'll be hungry by 10pm.

The Scotch Ale at 8.0abv comes in a small 10oz pour and the IPA was a full 16oz. In the past the riesling has been my fave wine wise. Both were full flavored and refreshing to drink on the patio with my dog. The service here has always been so friendly. The wine tasting are guided by pros that are well educated about wine. The same for the brewery where they'll give you free tasting cups. The outside country location is so beautiful. Like being on a ranch. Picnic tables, lawn games, and often live music (or at least good music over the speakers). Btw, as a dj myself I wonder if they'd ever like some jazzy house grooves or something on the patio on the weekend? What would that involve to do periodically on an afternoon?

We stopped in for lunch, and our server was great - when I told her I have gluten allergy, she said no problem and showed me all of the menu items they could make to accommodate. Located at the very end of Frog Pond Lane, this group has opened their tasting rooms (yes, there are 2 well appointed indoor tasting rooms - which is nice) on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. They mentioned should be adding Fridays shortly. We found a great seating area outside and made our way to the bar to order drinks. Mark, one of the owners, was manning the bar and slinging drinks. The drinks here are a necessity to allow you to try their small batch spirits - as an alternative to the tasting flights. Our group made the rounds on their drink menu and we found their hand made drinks ranged from great (Fuego Old Fashioned, Fuego Manhattan and 'The Dude' White Russian) to the very good (the Mojitos, the Mule and vodka margarita). Mark made a point to reinforce that he and the Team insist on using only the freshest possible ingredients (fruit, juices or hand made simple syrups) for their bar drinks - and I feel like this helps the quality of their spirits to really shine. We also tried a tasting flight of their offerings and I felt like the Caffe del Feugo Reserve and whiskey being my faves. The vodka is also very good, so it seems they have a little something for everyone. As we hung around for about 3.5 hours, we also got to meet and chat with Susan Lambert, who is also a partner and acts as CMO. We learned that she is a mom, a dog lover and just a delightful person in general. With more drinks to try here, we will definitely be back. I also need to get a bottle of their Caffe del Feugo Reserve and of their their whiskey - as bottles are not allowed to be sold on Sundays (gee, Thanks TABC!). We failed to make…read morereservations but Mark (owner) accommodated us as there was another party about to start their passport wine tasting. We were able to join the group. As we chatted with the other party, we learned that Siboney Cellars makes a delicious Cuban Sandwich. Will definitely come back to give that a try. As part of the Passport wine tasting, we were offered 4 different wines plus a small food pairing including toasted Cuban bread, Spanish Chorizo, Brie, Onion Bacon Jam and homemade Fudge. Everything was delicious and wine so smooth. I don't normally like Rose Wine but Barbara (owner/wine maker) did a great job, for all their wines. We learned a lot about wines and the vineyard during the food and wine tasting. Mark was so informative and a wealth of knowledge. We felt so special during our visit. Even though I have hundreds of bottles of wines at home, I left with 3 bottles. If you have not been, you should definitely stop by. In fact, there will be another Texas Wine passport event in late March to late April. We will definitely come back!!

While this vineyard wasn't quite as glamorous or mind-blowing as some of the other ones I visited, it still ended up being a pretty good experience. The main tasting room is on the smaller side, but it wasn't too busy when I visited so there was plenty of seating. They also had a TV playing the World Cup, which was a nice bonus. There was only one person working that day so he definitely had his hands full. I did have to go up to the counter whenever I was ready to try my next wine, but it actually gave me an opportunity to interact with some of the other guests and spend a little more time exploring the property. The outdoor area was really cute with a small stream running through the property and a designated photo-op area. I also noticed a second building that looked like it could be rented out for parties or weddings, which would be a nice option for events. But let's talk about the wine! My tasting consisted mostly of reds, with the Cabernet Franc being the personal standout for me. Honestly all of the reds were pretty good and the only wine I tried that I didn't particularly care for was the white. For the price point and the convenience of not having to drive all the way out to Fredericksburg, Spicewood Vineyard struck the perfect balance for me for a weekend winery outing. It may not have been the most impressive vineyard of the day, but it was still a fun and worthwhile stop.
