An excellent place to spend the evening. The food and entertainment are great and there's a real casual chill vibe to the whole place. The layout of the area has plenty of tables and chairs spaced out under trees and canopies. So plenty of shade. They also have misting fans all over the place which provides a nice relief from the high temps. The back area has a wide screen TV and several backyard games laid out. The food is great Texas barbecue. Smokey brisket piled high in a brioche bun with pickles, onions and sauce. Heaven! The sides are equally as tasty and the Texas Twinkie stands out. Jalapeño stuffed with cheese and brisket all wrapped in bacon. Yummy! The ambiance is chill. The variety of drinks is impressive. Favorite is one called Cucumber press. This place is an absolute knockout. We went as a thing to do while staying nearby, and wow! We will go back just to hang out some more. We got there for lunch time and to try a cocktail and eat BBQ as it's really near the local RV park. The vodka is delicious. They offer samples and have a broad selection of flavor profiles. We tried a good number of cocktails each of which was fantastic and flavorful. Jackie the bartender was wonderful to talk to and kept my wife ms drink full, my kids happy with mock tails and unsold me on a bottle of vodka, and a cinnamon vodka ( I hate cinnamon). Catfish, the master distiller came by the bar and had some awesome stories and insights into how Planet Rock became a thing. If that's not enough to get you there for a taste, the BBQ truck does great food. Get the Texas Twinkie. The ribs were great as was the quesadilla and the stuffed potato but trust me, get yourself a Twinkie. If you are anywhere nearby try this place. It's pet, child, and adult friendly. I'll start with the convenience of this being like a mile down the road from home, so that helps. They have done such a cool job with the outdoor area, no matter the weather (we went on a recent rainy Friday evening) they have fire pits and hear lamps available. And besides you are likely enjoying some drinking and/our eating the tasty bbq and warming up from the inside out. If not, play one of the games they have in the yard and enjoy yourself. The drinks are creative. All produced locally, so no competitors carried, but don't need 'em. Had the vodka..great..mild, and the whiskey..excellent bit more of a kick for my liking. We are visitors to Austin and Planet Rock was recommended by a local family last night at dinner, so wanting to experience local places rather than tourist spots, we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! I have to say that we enjoyed the BEST Bloody Mary we've ever had! Planet Rock's vodka is so smooth and with the added Bloody Mary mix combination and a piece of brisket, heaven! Service was excellent and the live music by Sharon Bourbonnais was very enjoyable also.
