This is my favorite coffee shop in Chicago! Not that I've been to them all. But the staff here is super friendly, and they make a great Americano. (I would actually recommend getting an Americano over a drip coffee.) What more can you ask for? The location is also super convenient. They are right at the Belmont exit of the red line. Since I'm here fairly often, I'm able to stop for a coffee at their handy walk-up window. Fantastic! If you are in this area of Chicago, I'd highly recommend that you stop in. read more

Their pourover is my favorite on the northside, specifically the Ethiopian. I do appreciate their mission, the fact that they ethically source their own coffee is always cool. In the cafe itself, I could take or leave the atmosphere. It's an open concept. It kinda feels modern but not posh. This is a really popular locale situated right next to the L so seating will be limited though depending on the day YMMV. There's a little wall near the checkout with bags and assorted accessories available for purchase. To the team specifically, shout out to the baristas. They're awesome. Really make you feel welcomed there which I greatly appreciated. They roast and ship same day. I'm a subscriber to their 2 week plan so I do have some skin in the game but I feel it's worth it as they truly do have some of the best coffee you'll find in the Midwest. read more

One was an iced autumnal special and the other was a hot coffee and they weren't memorable and didn't give me a caffeine kick. Maybe they have good cortados? Great service, delish coffee, friendly staff, and a free flowing layout, what more could one want?! :--) I enjoyed my visit to Pedestrian at the recommendation of a colleague (see below disclosure) and so happy I did! I purchased 2 bags of coffee (Almond Butter on Toast, who knew?!) from Brazil, 2 savory scones (sorta'a rosemary'ish with a buttery, crunch top, yum!), and a basic drip coffee. The cinnamon rolls looked especially inviting. Great selection of everything. In fact, the scones were 2-4-1 in the last 30'ish minutes so that was a nice benefit. Also, as they didn't want to serve me coffee that had been sitting they offered to make my basic drip coffee an Americano and wow, what oopmph! Super rich, strong, and flavorful. I can't comment on any wi-fi as we took our order to go. However, I would have liked to have stayed because the store has a wonderfully warm and welcoming layout. There is room to social distance while still accommodating larger groups. It's a wonderful balance and I'm still not sure how they accomplished seemingly juxtaposed goals. Yes! Everything you want in a coffee shop sits right beside the Belmont CTA Station at Pedestrian Coffee! This place is a gem, with friendly and knowledge staff, excellent coffee, espresso, and tea drinks, a good selection of baked goods, and a combination of hipster and WFH/study vibes. Located right by the CTA station, this new coffee shop is a must visit! I had a delightful experience and was greeted with friendly and pleasant service by the baristas. My go-to order is always an iced vanilla latte, and this one did not disappoint. At $6 for a 16oz, it's a bit steep, but when I think about all the times I've spent over $5 for a latte at Starbs, I felt a little less guilty. But dang, coffee was rich, flavorful and smooth. Menu has some unique offerings like Japanese coffee where they flash chill it, and they had a small selection of scrumptious baked goods, specifically what looked like fresh baked snickerdoodles. Inside, think Scandinavia but in Japan. Lots of clean lines, tasteful furniture with a modern feel. The back of the shop is quite large with plenty of seating. Would definitely be a quaint place to come read a book or write a paper. They also sell a variety of coffee machine such as electric kettles and pour overs. read more

I got an iced coffee, which was really tasty, as well as a day old cranberry shortbread. The total was $1.80 for the free coffee and pastry. An absolute steal. If it was possible to give this place ten stars I would. This is absolutely my go-to, pick-me-up, place. I have tried every item on the menu- and recommend them all. By far the best coffee, staff, & use of space. I write a lot and often need a good coffee spot that isn't playing overstimulating music. Here you will find that there is always instrumental music in the background and the pedestrian coffee customers are so eclectic & quiet. Working here is a delight. There's lots of seating and comfortable ambiance with natural lighting. Conveniently located by the Belmont brown line/red line stop. Just pop in and treat yourself to a productive day starting out with cool people & great coffee. My favorite items: honey lavender latte. The lavender latte is the best lavender latte in the city by a long shot. I've searched long and far to find the perfect one and here it is! Lemonade: it's fresh, it's perfectly tart, it's giving- "I'm thirsty and need more" vibes. Order it. Chai latte: hear me out. Most chai lattes are made with syrup and fake stuff. Not this, the taste and quality are superb. If you want to level up and tolerate dairy- get it with whole milk. You'll be delivered into a delirium of happiness. Eat, sip, work, dip! I once got a cup of coffee and a banana muffin to go on my way to catch the train through their grab-to-go window. I thought the coffee and the muffin are pretty decent but more importantly the grab-to-go window is just so commuter or let's say Pedestrian friendly!! I was super excited to make it my routine on the way to the CTA station.... Sadly, it is not really pedestrian or commuter friendly as I thought but rather dog walker friendly..... the second time I went there and wanted to order a cup of coffee from the grab-to-go window, I was told that that window was only intended for the convenience of someone walking their dogs.... that pretty much bursted my dream bubble of having a nice regular coffee shop to go early in the morning on my way to work... read more

Kicking myself for not checking this place out sooner! I've walked past countless times on my way to the train, but I never thought to give it a try until I saw it featured on Infatuation's "Best Coffee Shops in Chicago". Wow- I was blown away. The space itself is large but cozy, and filled with greenery. The staff is also so friendly- they actually care to know your name. Lastly, the coffee itself is delicious. I tried the Iced Charlatte (with almond milk) and Iced Coffee with homemade pumpkin sauce. Both were smooth and clearly made with love. They were also making the homemade goods right in front of me, so I'll need to try a scone next time I'm there. Will be back many more times! read more

After seeing such good reviews I decided to stop by while I was in the area. The vibes were really great, it wasn't overcrowded and would be a great place to work during the day. I really wanted to like my latte but the flavor combination I had was absolutely terrible. It tasted almost sour. I should have asked for a remake but I felt guilty bc the barista was kind enough to explain the menu for me. I like this coffee shop a lot. It's right next to the Belmont stop and El tracks, so you can hear the trains rumbling through. There's a lot of seating, and it's a pretty cozy atmosphere. The wifi is strong, which I appreciate as a remote worker. Some songs they play are louder than others, so it can be a bit unpredictable when you're on a work call, noise-wise. This coffee tastes like warm phlegm. The first time I had this experience with Pedestrian Coffee, I didn't write the review, because that would be crass. The THIRD time I purchased their $7.18 house coffee, I had to say something. Don't spend your money here. To add insult to injury, the barista I encountered was rude.
