Been here before and typically have had decent experiences. I like to support locally owned cafes and know that the owners take a lot of pride in what they do here. I wanted to update my past review because today's experience was kind of sub-par. The good: - love the ambiance and atmosphere (really good coffee shop vibe) - lots of speciality drinks - service is pretty timely - free wi-fi - seating inside and outside The not so good: - employee who took my order was extremely unpleasant (stared at me when I gave my order and looked generally annoyed; never even responded to me when I talked to her; when picking up my drink, I also said thanks and have a good day and she just stared at me and turned away - SOOOO WEIRD AND UNCOMFORTABLE) - I had a 16oz speciality latte and a cup of strawberry banana overnight oats. Total of $15 not including tip. VERY EXPENSIVE. - latte was pretty undrinkable - overloaded with syrup - but didn't want to interact with the girl behind the counter about it - overnight oats was in a small-ish cup - wish there had been more for the price Hoping if I stop in again in the future that employees are more welcoming and pleasant. I'll stick to straight up lattes instead of the specialty ones. Probably pass on the food since it's $$$. read more

A warm local coffee shop with plenty of seating and friendly staff. I tried the winter 2025 specialty coffee, Gingerbread Cookie Latte and it was very good. It wasn't overly sweet and tasted pretty dang close to the actual cookie. If I lived closer I would definitely stay for a while and get some work done. read more

Doppio is excellent. It's tucked away right off Lincoln Ave in a cozy location. It's not very big and it's popular, but I'm always able to find a spot. Unusually good snacks & light bites. The oatmeal bar is really good if you want healthy. Also love the feta cheese puffs. Fantastic seasonal lattes. If the weather is nice, the small outside seating area is really pleasant. Nice for remote work, catch up with friends, or to bring a well behaved dog to the outside area. read more

Doppio Coffee provides a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a coffee date, study space, or quick caffeine fix. The food came out quickly and was presented beautifully. There is adequate seating with flexibility of moving tables and chairs around and an outdoor section as well. The staff were friendly and the toast I had was yummy! read more

i don't have anything negative to say about this place. very friendly staff, clean bathrooms, strong wifi that reaches outside, and good coffee. i got the almond joy latte and it wasn't too sweet and wasn't too bitter. inside of the coffee shop was nice and there's tables alongside the window with a little reading nook kind of him. there were 4 tables outside with a covering to protect from sun/rain. i didn't try any food, but ill have to next time. as for parking, there is a paid lot down the road or street parking. read more

Cute little coffee shop with a good selection of coffee, but nothing special. It really didn't seem like the people who work here were too friendly with us. Also, we asked for everything "for here", only to get our coffee in plain paper cups. Other people around us had their coffee in mugs. Maybe we had to specifically ask for those, or maybe it's just extra work for them. While the latte seemed ok, the pasty was nothing special. I had some high hopes for this place considering all high reviews, but overall it was a big disappointment. read more

Great place to do crank out some work in Lakeview and have some discussions. Vibe was great. The music wasn't overbearing. You could both focus on work and chat with friends if you wanted. It's also a cute, family friendly establishment. I saw a dad with his kid: he was quietly working on his laptop, while the kid was quietly reading Dr. Suess books. So cute! I didn't take a photo for privacy reasons. Coffee was well-brewed. I got an iced americano, without sugar or milk. It had a great aftertaste, and it had a nice fruity balance. They have a diverse assortment of drinks and pastries! The temperature was ambient and nice. They also have two bathrooms! Both were very clean. read more

Visiting from California and walked in by chance. What a GEM. I'm so used to coffee houses having bland to just okay pastries so when me and my partner got a few donuts to go I didn't think anything of it. Cut to a few hours later and I bite into one of the BEST donuts I've had in YEARS! Bursting with flavor, moist, crumbly, and PERFECT. Also the woman at the front I'm not sure if she's the owner was SO NICE to us: I highly highly recommend this place to anyone, go for the pastries alone they are worth every single calorie! 10/10 read more

For sure there's lots of coffee shops around here. In Lakeview this one is a few blocks from the Brown Line. Doppio is a funny sounding name; never heard of it but it must be Italian. Has a small interior with only a few tables, so it might be hard getting one early in the morning. The prices are about what one expects from around here: expensive but not outrageously. After coming here a few times, I can say it's good quality coffee. It deserves the higher price compared to the corporate chains, one of those places to buy local. The coffee menu isn't huge, but there's classics and more. It's $5 for a Latte. Okay but for the high price. Blueberry Chia Overnight Oats is one of the food items. It's $6 for a cup of oats soaked and left overnight. There's almonds, blueberries, chia seeds, cinnamon, maple syrup, and vanilla. Good, but it would have been better to have more. That's the only complaint again, about the portions and price. Has busy or quiet times depending on whatever time you go. It's usually busy weekday mornings when people are working, or pretending to, on their laptops and phones. This place is also unique because they make their own coffee and food, and not getting it from other local suppliers. read more

Ok, Doppio is officially one of my favorite coffee shops (and I don't drink coffee!). A great little coffee shop that had precisely what I wanted. In the summer I crave lemonade like nothing else, and though some coffee shops have it I never really know. I checked out a few Instagram pages for coffee shops and saw that Doppio has summer sparklers as one of their current specials (which can be made with lemonade) so I headed over. They have a small outdoor seating area where some folks (and a pup or two!) were relaxing. Inside is not large, but there are a dozen tables or so. When I stopped in it was a Sunday and there was no problem parking on the street here to stop in briefly (it's pay parking, so either pay or live on the wild side). They offer online ordering as well because someone came in to pick up an order they'd placed while I was waiting. Employees were really friendly. I ended up getting a lavender limoncello (a mixture of lemonade, lavender, and vanilla) as well as a summer sparkler (lemonade with strawberry puree) because I couldn't choose between the two which I wanted. Both were yummy, but the sparkler was deeeeelicious. They offer different fruit flavors to add to it, and I had to get strawberry both because it is in season and because strawberry is far and away my favorite fruit. I'm so glad they have non-coffee cold drinks; I know other places do as well but not reliably so I'm glad they put this on their Instagram. For my SO I bought a Bumblebee's Bite Latte. I don't drink coffee myself, but I like to buy the unusual drinks for him to try. This one is a latte made with lavender, honey, and cayenne. I think he was not totally sure about it at first but by the time he was finished he really liked it and said he'd definitely order that again from here. I stopped by a second time a couple days later since I was driving by. The peach sparkler I tried this time was pretty good too but the strawberry will always be my favorite (though I think the strawberry I got this time may have been made with something other than lemonade because it tasted like strawberry flavored water). SO got an Almond Joy this time (another coffee special) and said it was great. I needed to get something to eat as well to make sure my blood sugar didn't get too messy so I ordered the eggstravagansa sandwich and it made me remember how good egg sandwiches can be--and this one was in a class by itself; it's not your typical egg salad sandwich. The egg was roughly chopped which was nice texture wise (when I make it I always get it very fine but I might do a rough chop next time). They also used homemade mayo (which if you've never tried you're depriving yourself of though I confess I've only made it once or twice myself--even if you don't like mayonnaise typically, you may find you like homemade because it's nothing like the store stuff). The most controversial of the ingredients was probably the dill, which they mounded on in truly impressive quantities; undoubtedly there are folks who would be UNpleasantly surprised at this but dill is my favorite herb so I was delighted. I'm going to recreate this sandwich myself someday because it was so yummy; I'm actually pretty obsessed with this sandwich and have had it a few times now on different stops to the cafe, to the point I'm almost embarrassed to stop today to get one but I probably will anyway. Pastries are so good. I've only had a couple--the strawberry cream cheese danish and blueberry cream cheese danish. They are not overly sweet at all (to the point that when I checked my blood sugar it didn't spike it). I was surprised that I liked the blueberry one as much as I did because I'm but then biggest fan of blueberry, but it was excellent. They have too many great treats for me to decide between here! read more

Doppio was a great coffeehouse with a fun vibe! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They did check ids/vax status for dining in. Dining area was spacious with a few cozy window benches perfect for studying. The music wasn't your typical cafe slow jams, but a more upbeat and fun playlist. Not too loud, but enough to keep you motivated. Lots of natural light! I got a vanilla latte and it was fantastic. I also got a feta cheese puff that was warmed up. I've never had anything like it, and I was pleasantly surprised! Had that nice flakey, pastry texture with lots of flavor from the feta and seeds. Overall it was a really nice selection. I came in the 10 o clock hour on a Monday and it was busy, with still plenty of open tables. Everyone was so cheerful and in such a great mood. This is a great neighborhood coffee shop. I love that they carry Chagachino's now and you really must try the Eggstravaganza! They also have several appetizing pastry items. Ample seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. Everyone I've been with at Doppio has loved it. The only drawback is that it can get loud. It was challenging to have a decent conversation on a few occasions I've been here. Would recommend it more for working if you have noise-cancelling headphones. read more

I went in yesterday for an iced cup of coffee during this crazy Chicago heat, and was pleasantly surprised by how good this was! I got a 16oz Grace's Fav Latte, although 7.50 is a bit on the pricey side, considering it's in Lakeview and a specialty latte, it's about what you would expect. The worker who took my order was very nice and friendly. I really loved their outdoor patio, and the ambiance is perfect for a chat with your friends. Doppio is my favorite place to do work in because it has plenty of smaller tables with outlets around. The chai latte is very good, but the coffee is pretty average. There are pastries and overnight oats and some open-faced sandwiches to order! Doppio is a quaint little coffee shop. It's a bit small so it may be difficult to find seating when it gets busy. It also gets very loud so I don't recommend coming here with someone when it's busy. It may be difficult to hear the other person. And it does seem consistently busy. I thought the service was friendly and efficient. My latte was decent as well. Sometimes it's difficult to review coffee shops. How much better is one cup of coffee than another? Who makes their own coffee vs. who uses a local supplier? Is there food? etc. With Doppio, it was easy. Everything is in house, from the excellent drink options to the very good small plates for brunch/lunch. Things are fresh and flavorful, I wouldn't have changed a thing. But, beyond all that, the owner of the shop made our visit memorable. Just a genuinely nice person, able to make truthful recommendations with a smile and friendly conversation. That, alone, would be worth our coming back. However, there's plenty of good reasons to check out Doppio! read more

Nice little coffee shop with friendly service. I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur so I can't really review the coffee itself, but I liked what I got. I feel like this is a great place to do work at though. They have cool little cozy seating right by the windows on each side, so if you can snag one of those spots, go for it! They also have outdoor seating, so I'd imagine when it's summertime, this place would be a great little spot to sip an iced coffee. Will be back! read more

I am a bit of a coffeehouse snob. The espresso is pretty good. The food selection is limited but they do have a couple of tasty unique things like the feta spinach turnover. This place has WiFi and outlets which is nice. People are chill both customers and staff. It is not well insulated though and drafty so bring something to bundle up in. Upon entering I noticed how cozy it was. Outdoor sitting area is small and cute. Flowers on the wooden table, window sitting area, and paints of plants on the walls. They have a good selection of flavors and milks for coffee. They have sweet and savory pastries and sandwiches as well. I ordered latte with soy milk and pump of honey and half a pump pistachio. Milk was done perfectly thick and foamy. Nutty smell of pistachio and hint of sweetness from honey was perfect. Young lady at the register was patient and polite. I ordered pomidora. Turns out, I was not the only one with this idea because there were a couple other people camped out at the tables and about a dozen people came in and out during the half hour I was there. It's a popular spot, and for good reason. The latte was great. It was smooth, flavorful, and hot--perfect for this cold winter morning. I'll definitely be back to try the food. Fantastic coffee house... I went here almost every morning while visiting from Hawaii. The owners are married and could not be more friendly if they tried. They opened up right before Covid and I'm so glad this little gem weathered the storm. My little boys love their fresh baked donuts, and I developed an addiction to the avocado toast on sourdough. I switched it up one day and combined the egg salad on it and it was delicious. The oat milk lattes are perfection as well.
