My kids have been going to this practice for several years. My son, 17, had an appt at 3:45 that he drove himself to. I told the receptionist I am nearby and he can get seen as I was only 5-6 minutes behind him. They refused to see him and said we had to reschedule. My daughter, who had a 4pm appt was called back. She waited 30mins to be seen once she was called back. Needless to say, my son would've also been sitting around the back waiting and I would've been there by the time anyone would've worked on him. Not to mention, I have waited longer in the waiting room because they have run late themselves in the past. read more

Please do not trust Dr Mansmann with your children. Especially if you have MD Healthy Smiles. I took my son to this place when he was 6. Dr Mansmann recommended 3 pediatric root canals on baby teeth. I went to literally 3 other dentists for 2nd opinion who all said this was not a good option for baby teeth, too risky for not much gain since they would come out shortly anythow. So I declined and sought dentristy help elsewhere. Dr Mansmann then decided to report me to DSS and we had to go through that whole investigation. (dismissed, of course). Pediatric dental of Frederick put a cap on the worst of the teeth and he was fine until they came out. I cannot believe this place is still in business, taking advantage of children's dental needs. read more

I had high hopes for this dental office, but for the third visit, I'm thoroughly disappointed. Each time, I've been kept waiting for over an hour past my appointment time, and the excuses are getting more absurd with each visit. The first time, it was "unexpected emergencies," the second time, they blamed it on a scheduling mix-up, and this time, it was just "a busy day." plus a comment that I couldn't believe: " We are doing this to help parents !", what type of excuse is that ? . It's incredibly frustrating to see such a lack of respect for patients' time. I understand that things can get hectic, but consistency in delays shows a lack of professionalism. Our experience here over the past 10 years has been sad and disturbing for our two children. The lack in communication of the dental staff with us lead to my son almost losing a tooth several years ago (well documented at the practice), and my daughter having to have get braces removed early due to cavities between her teeth that could have possibly been detected earlier by X-ray. Full X-rays were not performed for 5 years to the surprise of the dental assistant although the hygienist commented on a prior cleaning that she saw the early signs of decay. No action was taken or recommendations given by the dentist at this exam. The staff is rushed and things are missed here and there is no accountability. We unfortunately had to change dentists for proper dental care. Since moving our daughter to a new dentist for a comprehensive evaluation they detected seven additional cavities some on the front of her teeth and the pediatric dental center of Frederick had not taken x-rays in EIGHT years according to the records that they sent to Wormans Mill Dental Group. Thankfully, we have a competent dentist now. The fact that the pediatric dental center of Frederick did not conduct x-rays on our child for eight years from the ages 8 to 15 is unethical and probably qualifies as malpractice. read more

My daughter had to get a couple of crowns and fillings today and was very nervous. She is 4 and was scared that it was going to hurt a lot, but Dr.Mahdi and Richard assured her that it wasn't going to hurt and that they would take good care of her. She was able to have me sit with her and hold her hand the entire time and left with a balloon, popsicles, a new toy, as well as some new songs that they sang to her while they worked on her teeth. She also told me she loved they they showed her all of the tools they would be using so that they didn't seem so scary. I definitely recommend this office for any kid because they are so patient and nice with the kids to make something that seems terrifying to them turn into something kind of fun. My 6 y/o daughter came to this office for several cavities that needed filling. it was her first procedure outside of routine cleanings. The staff at Pediatric Dental Center of Frederick were SO kind and patient with her! Everyone was so friendly. The waiting room is clean and they had TV's with Disney channel on, which is nice for waiting. The real shining stars were the ones who took care of my kiddo, Richard and Dr. Mahdi!!! Richard was so cool, my little social butterfly loved him right away and said he was her "bestie". Dr. Mahdi was amazing, his manner with children is absolutely stellar. He knows just the right way to explain things to ease any confusion or fears. He talks a lot to keep them occupied and maintain a calm atmosphere. Since my daughter had 9 cavities to deal with, I was worried about her getting antsy, but they were pros and everything went perfectly. Everything was taken care of in one visit with just a little laughing gas. Comparitively, my nephew same age also had several cavities and he was referred to a hospital setting for anesthesia. I was so pleased to hear that PDC Frederick was able to handle her needs in one visit without us having to go to a hospital. My expectations were exceeded and I will definitely come back to this office in the future! You can just tell everyone here really cares about their patients. 15 stars out of ten, will 100% recommend! read more

My wife took my 3 children to get routine dental exam and X-rays done. The 3 front desk receptionists should be fired. Extremely unprofessional and just grotesquely rude and abrasive. They don't talk in any way respectful to clients or sympathetic and kind. If this is the face of your dental practice I would admonish parents to take your children elsewhere more compassionate. I called the day before my daughter's scheduled appointment to confirm the time since I hadn't heard from them. I was given a "the system is acting weird can you hold" then magically another person is able to help 10 minutes later. I was told they couldn't make any appointments for me. I was confused and said "I am just trying to confirm my appointment for tomorrow". They then told me I was released from the practice in November. When I asked why I was given no reason. They said they mailed a letter, but magically I didn't get it. The truth to the story is, in November they canceled my appointment 3 days before (mind you an appointment we already had to make 7 months out, because this practice is all about squeezing kids in and out). The excuse for the cancellation was COVID, even though we had been there twice already during COVID. When I went to reschedule I was told it would be until February. I told them that didn't seem acceptable to make her wait another 3 months for something that has been going on and isn't really a decent excuse. When I agreed because I had been taking her there since she was 1 I said the least they could do would be to send in a prescription for fluoride since she would now run out. After that I wrote an e-mail to the office explaining my frustration, especially after I was still giving them a chance. The visit before we spent 15 minutes calling from the car to keep getting voicemail. I walked into the building to signal someone. They acted like I was an infected zombie and told me I had to keep calling. She wouldn't even tell them the call wasn't going through. So I sat on the floor outside the lobby another 5 minutes and got through. During this time another family had the same issue. They got picked up before me and let in and we sat out on the floor and waited longer after they said it would be just a moment. Before COVID this place was flooded with children. Tons of chairs, you would get a quick hygienist visit and maybe 3 minutes with a dentist and you were out. Then you had to sit and wait longer in the lobby to schedule the next appointment which slowly got longer than 6 months away. The day I inappropriately found out I was dismissed for writing an e-mail about my experience, I asked to speak to an office manager. Well there isn't one. I asked who could give me answers as to why, get me a copy of this "letter", etc. I was told the owner but they couldn't guarantee they would get the message or contact me. Please take your children somewhere else. We even had an emergency and the lady who was on call had "phone issues" so I actually ended up at another practice when she was 2 and hit her front teeth at the playground and was a bloody mess. I recently took both my kids for their 6month cleaning. The hygienist that cleaned my child's teeth was visibly shaking and her eyes bulging like she was on drugs. When she went to go do my other kids cleaning I asked her if there was someone else to clean her teeth. She asked why and I told her that she was visibly shaking and she held her hand out and said yea I guess I am and got another hygienist to clean her teeth. She said well I did have coffee this morning. I asked to speak to the supervisor and told her my concern and saw her continuing to see pediatric patients. Today I received a letter terminating our patient/provider relationship. Guess they didn't like being called out and patients/parents concerns aren't taken seriously here. 100% do not recommend this location for your childs safety and their lack of addressing concerns even IF it was just too much coffee. Edit to add that reading through other reviews that if you as a parent bring up any concerns you are dropped from the practice. Seems like that's there way of addressing concerns. read more

I took my son Jonah to this dental office because he fell and broke his tooth off. Dr. Lam was so kind and caring towards Jonah, as usual. I've been taking my 2 sons here for the past 2 years and I absolutely love this dental office. The staff is so friendly and kind. I've been taking my children here for many years, but the administration and front desk employees are enough to drive a person crazy. It's a nightmare almost every time we go. They are so unorganized, take forever to check out your child, and it's a zoo. It's just time for us to find a better run business. People should not be made to feel stressed out at the thought of even taking their kids to something as simple as a dental appointment. Ok so normally you wonder what could possibly be so special at a dentist office, right? Well this dentist office is just amazing! The staff is super friendly and great with kids. The dentist took the time to explain everything not only to me, but my child. The dentist asked if we had any questions and was willing to spend as much time as needed to explain if necessary. They make sure they work with your schedule to the best of their ability. The office is very clean and orderly. Our first visit to the office, they greeted us with a new patient gift. Worst experience ever for a pediatric dentist. The waiting room is a zoo, full of people at least 25. Waited over thirty mins after apt time when told to come early, which we did- then put in room to be told we were being seen by a different doctor . Then said oh he will see you wait out in wiring room. Then 15 mins later, out in another back exam room, has huge tv but no one turns it on. 15 mins later asked when we will be seen, now an hr has already passed and still no doctor to be told that treatment would not be done today just an eval. Again not told by anyone that treatment could t be done when X-ray already sent and appointment made. I definitely would not return to this chaos mess and lack of care. What a cluster**** this place is. It should not take 2 hours to have a check up and teeth cleaning. It seems as if there is only one dentist working at a time and they have this place packed with patients...just waiting. Two families walked out because they had already waited over an hour and still couldn't be given an answer on when the dentist would be able to see them. The hygienists are fine and most are friendly. As for the front desk staff, they obviously hate their job and want you to have a miserable experience. Some of the most unfriendly and unhelpful people you will have to deal with. Made an appointment for my son to have a cavity fixed at 530 called 5 minutes early to let them know I was there, they told me they would call me when room was ready, I waited 50 minutes called them to check up on the status and they told me it wasn't ready and thst it would be a couple more minutes i waited 20 more minutes then they called me to let me know it was ready i talked to the assistant who was doing intake i i let them know i was upset and they acted.like they didn't care like that normal how they treat there customers spoke with the dentist dr. Don't not bring your children to this place if you require respect as a patient or a customer. On several occasions my children have been made to wait 45 minutes after their appointment time to be seen without so much as a curtesy call stating that they were running behind. Some of the receptionist have very poor phone etiquette and can't handle being asked questions. When I pointed out the poor wait times and the poor phone etiquette of the receptionists my kids were dropped from the practice. Oh but the worst of it is I heard the dentist and one of the assistance whispering calling me/ my 4 year old difficult because I called them out on their horrible wait times and poor phone etiquette. I have been taking my 3 children here for many years. It is conveniently located and they are able to get all three in and out in the same appointment. However, I have always felt like my kids are just a number and that they only care about making money on us. Today was even worse! I had an appointment scheduled for next week that I needed to reschedule due to an unexpected trip out of town. When I asked to reschedule the 8am appointment, the person on the phone told me that the only thing they had available was noon is September. I let her know that I would prefer a morning or late afternoon appointment so that the kids did not have to miss almost a full day of school. She responded by telling me that this is ALL they had available and that there were no appointments at those times. I asked, "in September, or indefinitely?" In a very rude tone she said "indefinitely." I let her know that would not work for my family and asked her how I could go about getting my children's dental records so that we could change dentists. Then she HUNG UP ON ME!!! I called back to speak to the office manager and they would not let me speak to her until I told them why I was calling. When I said it was to make a complaint I was told 'oh, well then she will have to call you back.' That was hours ago, so I am certainly not holding my breath for a response. Save yourself a headache, the convenience is NOT worth it. Find a different dentist. read more

I am very surprise to see this place has such bad reviews!!!! Both my kids are seeing by doctors here for 6 years now and we never had any bad experience. The staff are super polite, The waiting is almost zero, and the dentists are very patient with you and your kids. They write your kids name on a welcome board, when he is visiting the office for the 1st time. They give your kids a verity of choices to pick their toy after their check up. If they have any dental services more than just a check up, they give them balloons and popsicle. The only time that one of my sons needed a crown, they did their best to give us same day appointment. They put us In separate room, so my son would not be frustrated. Dr Mansman did a great job to entertain my son, distract him and does his work very fast at the same time. Few times that he was interrupted by other staff members, I noticed that the staff neither walk in the room (stop at entrance), nor look directly to you or the patient! To respect our sons privacy. This place is the worst during a pandemic. This place was so crowded. It was like McDonald's. They rush you around through multiple people and maskless kids. The entire time, there are multiple people around. The kids are all in an open space. Must be at least 10 to 15 with masks off screaming, crying. Covid can live in the air for 3 hours! This place does not use any air purifiers. It's all open space and all these kids at the same time! Worst place in a pandemic. It is a complete zoo! So I would like to warn all parents who have children that are patients at the Pediatric Dental Center on Guilford Drive in Frederick Maryland. Please read through!!!! I brought my son in last week to have some cavities filled and a tooth extracted. The appointment was at 5pm, we arrived five minutes early, and we were call back after a couple minutes. After a little bit of a wait in their Green Room, the hygienist finally came in, didn't say her name but did say what they were going to do, and then grabbed the dentist to come in. He introduced himself, Dr. Robert Mansman. He gave my son Novacaine and started some laughing gas. After that was done they both left, and then we waited in the room for about 20 minutes before anybody they came back to see us. They came back and asked my son if his mouth was numb and he said yes. Dentist closed the door, started working on my son, and then proceeded to ask the hygienist how things are going with her kids and ex. The hygienist then started on her conversation about her ex husband cheating on her and how that was going. The dentist continued to ask questions, like how her eight and 12-year-old son's were handling this, and if they knew of what was going on. The hygienist continued to talk about it with him for 10 to 12 minutes over my son while they did the fillings and extracted the tooth. I was livid. I, even though I know I should've said something to both of them, more enjoyed the fact that they were digging their own graves by continuing this conversation over my 10-year-old son of how her 34-year-old ex-husband was cheating with his 23-year-old mistress. My son and I also got to hear of her vacationing over the summer as well as her new boyfriend from Illinois and her wanting to go back to vacation in Illinois to goes see how things go. Once they were done with my son, they just acted like that conversation never happened told him he was going to be good to go. The dentist left and the hygienist asked what popsicle he wanted, he told her purple, and she left the room. Five minutes later some other hygienist comes in with an orange popsicle, so that can tell you some distraction there. We then sat there for another 20 minutes with no one coming in to check on us and see how my son was doing or to let us know that we could leave, nothing like that. I got to watch all the other hygienists walking past the door, all these other patients walking past our door, abut nobody came to check on him and say if it was OK to leave or not. I finally got my son up asked if he was OK he said no, so I had him sit for a few more minutes. He said OK I'm ready to go. I went out to the front desk and put in a complaint with the person upfront because I was pissed. I was told I had to be there at 5 o'clock because that's what time although last time they could do the fillings was at. We were there until 620pm. When I put in the complaint I told them I wanted a call to know what happened. The next day I did not receive a call. The following morning I gave them a call to find out that apparently the hygienist had only been suspended, and the dentist that worked on my son who started the conversation and continued asking questions about it, is the owner of the place. When my husband and I called to put in the complaint and speak about it to him about this he was not in the office yet so we let his office manager know how upset we were about this conversation. For someone who has an eight-year-old and a 12-year-old where they don't want their eight-year-old knowing what's going on, apparently has no problem or issue or any regard for other children in letting them know her personal life and what's going on. The dentist has the same regard. He did call my husband back to apologize, but that apology was nowhere near the truth of what actually happened and I am upset that he couldn't even own up to the events that happened. I did give him a call back and his voicemail was full so I called his office to let them know that I was unhappy with his half attempt apology. You don't sit there and tell me your hygienist is suspended for continuing a conversation that you kept giving her looks but wouldn't say a word to tell her to stop, but you had more than enough questions to follow up afterwards to continue that conversation on for 10 minutes again over my 10-year-old son that she doesn't want her eight-year-old son or her 12-year-old son to know a lot about. He has since not decided to call me or give an actual apology. I did tell the supervisor upfront that I would be yanking my child out of their since it's OK with the owner and his staff to be talking about cheating husbands and mistresses in front of 10-year-old boys while they're getting their teeth worked on behind a closed door mind you. read more

Let me start by saying that if I could rate this office zero stars I would. Doctor Robert Mansman dentist and owner of the whole office is a very rude and disrespectful and entitled. He made a scene in front of the whole office and other patients yelling at me to leave because I simply asked when they would be starting my daughters dental work after sitting there for over an hour. He used his ownership and title to over power me and speak down to me saying that he "hopes I get better mothering skills" and that I need to leave because he is "busy and doesn't have to see either of my children if I don't like the fact that we have been waiting!" I was in no way disrespectful or rude when I asked how long it would take to get my daughter seen. It was a very normal question to ask after sitting there with two children for an hour. For him to come back at me with "well you don't have to be here you can leave" "I own the place so leave now" and then walk me and my daughters out not allowing me to even get their records in order to provide them for a new dentist office. He is a joke and I do not recommend this dental office to anyone solely for the fact that no professional doctor and owner of a business should ever treat their clients that way, especially one of a pediatric facility! read more

This place is unprofessional, rude, and if you are looking for someone great with children then make sure you don't question them or your child will be treated poorly. My son now has scratches and marks all around his mouth. After my experience and reading other reviews on many different platforms, I have no idea how this place is still in business. I have taken a day to reflect on my experience here and honestly I am still in shock. Both of my children were former patients here. There was a reason I left. They want to blame the long wait times on COVID but the wait times have ALWAYS been horrible. Again, there is a reason I pulled them from here over 2 years ago. My child has severe dental anxiety and our new dentist is a family dentist and was not equipped for the fillings he needed. So, since there is a pandemic going on, I had to set it up to be done here since most places won't accept new patients at the moment. I set up to have the fillings done here. Our first appointment they did X-rays and then said they may or may not have time to start treatment that day. They sent us to our car to wait and about 30 minutes later call us to tell us they don't have time and set up another appointment. Our first treatment appointment went well. They were late as always but my son had very minimal anxiety and they worked well with him (THIS TIME). We returned yesterday for the remainder of the work. We had a 9:00 appointment. They called us in at 9:05. Great. We get to the door to wait for the screener to let us in. My son then needed to use the restroom and in the time he was there the screener had come back out and told me "oh sorry we had to give your room to another patient. You'll either need to go back to your car and wait or wait on the bench". This started the anxiety for my son. We waited on the bench for another 45 minutes before they finally took us in. My husband then calmly asked the screener if there was an office manager he could talk to. The screener said she would send HER in the room. We get to the room and Dr. Mansman comes in (who is not a her) and says "they said you wanted the office manager. Well I own the place so what's up". This man came in with an attitude and very defensive. My husband then asked what happened and why we were called in to only have our room given away. That's when this medical professional began his rant about risking his life everyday because we are in a pandemic and rooms need cleaned properly and such (which I completely understand). And how we should be grateful for him and most people thank him. He started packing my child's paperwork up and said "you know what? I'm not going to do this work for you today". I then got very upset. This has been a year long process for my son and I just wanted it over with. I began crying and then my son did as well. I was practically begging this man to take care of the dire work my son needed. He went on to cuss in front of my child and tell my husband to grow up and be an adult (after my husband was no longer saying anything at all) and said we should be grateful or he could send us with a referral to somewhere 4 hours away. He then took everything and stormed out of the room. We sat in complete shock. After about 10 minutes I was getting up to go look for him but he was already coming back in the door to tell my son to get in the chair. He did complete the dental work needed at this point and my son screamed the entire time. His hygienist and himself were not gentle with my child and not comforting at all like the prior appointment. My child had scratches and marks along the entire side of his mouth they worked on. This medical professional threw a temper tantrum over a simple question and immediately lost all bedside manor and has probably scarred my already anxious 5 year old for life. I am so blown away by how this dentist conducts his business. And as we were leaving, another family was complaining about how rude the office staff were, and the response of the person hearing the complaint? A shoulder shrug with a "oh ok. Have a good day" If you read this far. Thank you! If you wonder hey, but they have almost 5 stars on here. Well yeah, they offer you reward points for good google reviews. Seriously, READ THE BAD REVIEWS! There's multiple on multiple platforms like healthgrades, Yelp, Facebook, Google, etc going back years of this man throwing dental tools, ripping laughing gas masks off children, and talking to people this way. Dr. Mansman and his entire staff treated us with such compassion and kindness. My son is in remission for leukemia and as you can imagine, we have seen many many many doctors on this journey. The moment we walked into this dental office, we were treated like family. Each staff member was kind, so sweet to both of my children, patient and genuine. Dr. Mansman was a wealth of knowledge, kind beyond words, and so gentle towards my child that has been through a lot. I have always had the feeling that healthcare would be better overall if the people treating others treated them as they would expect their own family to be treated, and this is how we felt at this office. We have been using this office for several years. They have been great for my Autistic son and he has had work done on several occasions without needing to be put under. That has made it much easier for him to have dental work done. The care my other 5 kids have gotten has all been fine. My main reason for 3 stars is due to long wait times. The wait times seem to have gotten worse over the years. I have waited 30+ minutes to check out multiple times. I frequently will tell them to call me for check out it moves so slowly. Our last visit 3 of my kids waited 30-45 minutes for a dentist to check their teeth after having them cleaned although they were called back fairly quickly for the actual cleanings. We wound up leaving we had been waiting so long. They seem to have so many patients that it gets chaotic and the office's disorganization makes the wait times far longer than they should be. If patients did not have to wait so long the office wouldn't be so chaotic. Their check out system is terrible. read more

The best service ever, great treat every time we love going here

I have went to this dental practice for many years but noticed the patient care and customer service started to go downhill. Then last month my daughter needed a tooth fixed and some cavities filled the first appt they scheduled as an emergency in error but told me to come back at no cost on estimate. At the follow up appt they told me I need to pay close to $200 when I was advised a week ago no payment was due and that they did not have time to do all the treatment they said they could. Then when I started to ask questions they then said I needed to be referred out. They treated us very unprofessionally and the front office staff was rude. I then took my older kids to an adult dentist and my younger one to a new pediatric dentist to be advised that the work performed by this dentist was terrible, unnecessary work was done on some teeth and that all the fillings they did do all need to be redone, some teeth even require crowns now. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! First if you look anywhere but google (i.e. Yelp) their reviews are terrible. So I am so sure they manipulate their google ratings in some way. They don't take the time to explain what to expect for procedures. They told me the procedure does not cause pain and typically children don't feel a thing. They rush through everything and hand you consent forms without appropriately explaining everything. When you ask questions, they brush it off as if everything is 100% safe and pain-free- let me tell you, its NOT! They also don't take the time to ensure they adequately numb the gums resulting in a poor child screaming, crying, and kicking pain. They have you sign a couple of waivers, including the safety consent which permits them to "help hold your child's hands so they don't hurt the dentist." They made it seem like the worse case scenario they will hold her hand down and truly made it seem like a rare occasion. Well, in my event they had to call for back up and had one assistant bear-hugging my TODDLER, while the other held the head and asked me to hold the legs, as the dentist proceeded to do the procedure. Yes, it required two staff members to hold my child down because of the pain. One even tried to get stern with her in a very aggressive way, which made matters even worse. When I asked if they were sure it was numb, they said "some kids just don't like the vibration." The manager even stated that the dentist should have gone back injected more local anesthesia at the time I asked if she was numb and from the way my child was reacting, but she didn't. Besides, I am 1000% sure my child wasn't kicking and screaming because of vibration!! Either way, how traumatizing is that for a toddler? They don't stop when you want them to because they say once they start they have to finish. So once they completed one tooth, we did not proceed with the others. I'm also not convinced my child has as many dental caries as they claim because they called me 2 weeks following the exam to tell me she had them and that they could only detect them on x-ray. Although I know some dental caries are only detected on x-ray, why wait two weeks after an exam to call? Furthermore, Dr. Lam pulled up the x-ray, but only pointed out two dental carries. Either way, I will not be returning to this facility. My poor child hoped that "no other kids have to go through that pain." My child loved going to the dentist before this, but after such a traumatic event, I'm sure that will change. Unless you want to go through what we went through above, I'd advise you to go elsewhere. Or just stay away from Dr. Lam and whomever he assistant was, I can't speak on any of the other dentists/staff there. I didn't see this coming and I'm sure the next person won't either.
