I recently used my Groupon and the minute I stepped inside I knew I had paid exactly what the mani/pedi was worth and not a penny more. Generic in appearance, this location could easily be in a strip mall where you are a number and not much else. I have been going to Pedicute for the last year and I have yet to have a bad experience. In fact, my experience has always been amazing! I saw that some other reviews commented on their customer service so I had to provide a rebuttal. I've never had an issue with customer service over the 5+ times that I've been there. I almost hate to put the word out there because I don't want it to get too crowded, but I think it is important to support the local small businesses! I've had the same guy do my mani/pedi and I saw complaints that he didn't say, "thank you". Yes, he is quiet, but I've never seen it as rude. He has always been polite and very attentive, just also very quiet. I prefer that actually. I'm not one for small talk when I just want to relax and be pampered (and pampered they do!) And yes, The lady who is in charge is also very firm with the rules (I had the same issue with the someone gifting me a groupon for first-time customers... but it was technically my fault for not reading the fine print since I wasn't a "first time customer"). I sold it to a friend... problem solved! The lady is very sweet and accomodating every other time that I've been. How can you not love a place that provides an excellent massage while doing a basic mani/pedi and then also gives you a shoulder massage during your mani?! Any other place charges for that type of extra. My manicures have always lasted a week, which is saying a lot since I work in a school and constantly wash my hands! A Little insider information.... I never been to this place for services and I hate it. My first experience was an attempted walk-in for mani-pedis. I went with a few friends and knew getting in all together would be tough, but what is the harm in trying. We walked in and no one greeted us or asked if we needed help. We stood there while the salon stared at us like we had 5 heads and walked out. Today, my friend and I purchased groupons for $20 mani-pedis that we planned to use Friday. I called to make appointments and was told, sure we can get you both in at 1:00....oh wait "do you have a GROUPON"....i said yes, we both do. Her response was "we don't have any groupon deals right now." I replied, "yes, you do, we just purchased then from the site." She replies "no, i JUST called and they are taking it down so YOU need to call Groupon and ask for a refund." REALLY!?? I'll be honest, I've been going here for over two years and I've only had really fantastic experiences with Pedicute. First of all, Jackie is the best. She almost always does my nails (unless she's not there) and always does a great job. Second, her neck and back massages that she gives during the manicure are amazing. Third, I've always had impeccable customer service there - they try to fit me in as best as possible with their other clients, even when I have a tight timeline, and if any of my nails chip in an unreasonable amount of time they've fixed it for free. i just haven't received that kind of service at other nail places I've been to. Just used my Groupon for Pedicute because we're leaving for Mexico on Thursday. Needless to say, I was the only one there since most people are not into getting mani/pedis in February. It was a little difficult to understand the woman on the phone when I was making my appointment but she was pretty patient about repeating herself. I have two criteria when judging nail salons: 1. Does it feel like the Seinfeld episode when you are positive they are talking about you? and 2. Does it feel like your nail technician is judging the state of your fingernails, especially when it's been 5 months since your last manicure? I didn't feel like either of these were the case here. Pedicure - the massage chair only vibrates but otherwise the experience was nice. My feet were freezing when I came in so the hot water felt extra hot so the lady made sure to lower the temp. Manicure - they made sure I paid (showed my Groupon) and put on my coat before putting on the polish. The "massage" was really just 1 minute of rubbing my shoulders while I was at the drying station but it was still a nice add-on. I would definitely go back for their $30 deal. read more

I was excited to try somewhere new when I saw the Groupon come out for a $20 main/pedi... always on the look-out for a quality pedicure when it's almost summertime! The nail techs were all really friendly yet not overly chatty, which is something appreciate. As for polish selection, I thought it was a little lacking, but I ended up with a color that I like. The manicure lasted for about 6 days, and the pedicure is still going strong. My only major complaint is that the skin around my nails is tearing from where the cuticles were trimmed... that drives me nuts. I should have skipped that step. Did I receive the best mani/pedi of my life at Pedicute? No. But, was the one I did receive worth my $20 Groupon? Yes. read more

Had a groupon so I figured I would try it out. A lot of the reviews seemed okay on yelp and on Groupon so I went with it. Made an appointment same day for 5:45 pm walk in and chose a color so I get seated and then she comes over to start my no chip I loved the color it was a pink ish champagne ish color so it requires about 3-4 layers in my opinion. She did 2. And there were fuzzies on my nails from the towels I used to dry my hands and she didn't clean it off so you can totally see it on my nails. Then at some point I had I guess a little piece of garbage on my ring finger and she picked it off with the cuticle scissors and dented the nail and just painted over it. You can see it pretty obviously. I thought okay maybe it'll go down after a bit and the little garbage is maybe from my shirt. Nope. It's all still there hours later. 3 stars because they HAVE potential and we're able to schedule me day of. But other than that I don't think I'll be returning. I'm going to a wedding Saturday and wanted my nails to look super cute. Pretty disappointed. read more

Usually at nail salons I get a very 'judged' feeling (probably because my feet are ugly and I have boy hands) but nonetheless, not here! I visited Pedicute for the first time yesterday and even though I was using a Groupon Now, I still felt like I got just as good of service as other clients. I will say, though, that there doesn't seem to be much of a routine in place here, and every employee does the services differently. What I mean is that not every manicure is going to include a shoulder/neck massage (mine didn't unfort), help putting shoes/coat back on, or an offer of a drink while drying. It seems like the employees just kind of decide as they go. So, I would say to speak up if you would like something specific or that you see another customer getting. Personally, I would suggest asking for help with shoes -- she put oil on my toes, wrapped my feet with plastic wrap, and put on my socks and boots for me which was SO appreciated :) It is a small salon, so would call ahead for appointment if for no other reason than that you don't want to have to sit on the "trendy" but prolly very uncomfortable couch watching Miss Congeniality 2 with subtitles. I used to feel about manicures the way most people feel about going to the dentist. I hated someone poking and prodding at my fingernails. BUT, Pedicute does an amazing job. They're gentle on cuticles and take their time to do everything well. The deal Mon - Thurs is great, but they're not open that late during the week so sometimes it's hard to get in w/o an appointment. Plus, you never feel like they're talking about you in another language and they're especially nice in the winter - zipping and buttoning your coat, pulling up your hood, and making sure you're nice and warm to go outside without ruining your nails! read more

I went to this spa because they had a grouponNOW deal, which was simply irresistible! I was a bit skeptical since I have had my nails done at such places and let me tell you, it was not a pleasant experience! This spa, however, quickly became one of my favorite! I called 4 times to change my schedule due to the snow storm that hit, and they always accommodated me and were really nice about it! My nail technician did an AWESOME job with my nails, I was so happy! They also put green tea in the water that you soak your nails into! While you are sitting with a hot towel on your hands they give you a shoulder massage- even better! The scrub for the pedicure they use was minty, something I've never seen before (unless you get a spa pedicure, which is extra)...it felt awesome! The only thing that I wasn't happy with is that my nail tech DID NOT talk to me at all AND that I was done after about an hour (both the mani and pedi), which to me isn't a big deal because I cannot sit for 1.5 or more hours for a manicure and pedicure... some people might feel rushed though! Nonetheless, I will be back; the service was great, it was very clean, they have a very good selection of colors, and it was relaxing! read more

Used my Groupon to get a manicure and pedicure. "Meh, I've experienced better" just about covers it. It wasn't the worst experience I've had, by any means, but a couple of things kept me from rating the place any higher than 2 stars. 1. I left the salon with a bleeding finger and a large red scratch on my leg that is still visible a day later. I find that nearly inexcusable. Slow down, look at what you're doing. The bleeding finger bothers me the most because after she picked the cuticle to bleeding and stopped the bleeding, she returned to pick at the same spot *again*. It was painful, and I had to ask her to please leave it alone. I've had to wear a bandaid at work because I can't have open sores on my hands, and that is exactly what is going on here. The leg scratch was from the pumice stone; she was going so quickly that she missed my heel several times and went up the leg over the ankle bones, leaving marks. 2. The women who helped my sister and me kept mentioning how much of a deal we were getting, in such a way as to make me feel as though I was somehow cheating them by having a Groupon. We tipped very generously on the full amount of the service, so this running commentary was unnecessary and made me uncomfortable. Additionally, on a Tuesday morning in early April we were close to the only people there - we had made appointments as requested, so we weren't taking away regular business. Aside from these two issues, the technicians were friendly and the establishment was clean. They had nice music in the background. The polish on one of my nails smudged within about an hour... not worth it to me to go back and ask for a touch up. read more

My experience in this nail salon was hilarious!!! I went to the salon to use my groupon for a mani/pedi. I had an appointment, and so was taken care of right away. The salon was kind of small, and so felt kind of cramped. My mani/pedi was not relaxing at all. My nail tech was hilarious, and talked my ears off literally. She went on and on talking about her ex-boyfriend and how he had done her wrong. I proceeded to tell the nail tech I was a psychotherapist, and then she really didn't stop talking. She was literally yelling about this man. Her boss in the nail salon even told her in another language to stop talking!! I probably won't be back to this nail salon. I usually go to get my nails done because I find it to be a relaxing experience. I did not get to relax at all at Pedicute. I guess if you are looking for a convenient Lakeview nail salon this place is worth a try. However, I would say there are much better nail salons just down the block. read more

While one of the longest lasting no-chip's I've ever had, I've been into the salon 3 times, and turned away twice. They are under-staffed and I walked in with literally 3 hours before they closed for the day, and they turned me away and said they didn't have time to give me a mani/pedi. As I mentioned, this happened to me twice. Moral of the story: I guess you might need to make an appointment here, but as a nail salon in the middle of Chicago, I'm sure I'm not the only person that's walked in... I've been to Peticute a few times in the past and was always happy with how my nails had turned out. I recently purchased the no-chip groupon and felt comfortable going since my nails had always turned out to be great. Well this time, not so much! The male techs were just awkward and my pedicure actually hurt at times. I felt like I was his first customer ever. I felt the process of doing my nails was backwards, buffing my cuticles and then cutting them ever so slghtly right before painting my nails...thats a first for me. I just wasn't as happy about my nails after leaving as I usually am. Well after all that, 5 days later my no-chip has chipped! I have done nothing harsher that would have caused this, but think that the rush job to get them done and not leaving my nails under the light as long caused this. Meh. My pedicure left a lot to be desired. I got a maybe 50% strength pumice-ing (come on guy, it's summer and I'm a runner. I'm not going to wilt), and I don't feel like my toesies were given much attention. They do a nice sugar scrub for your legs and feet, and a pretty gentle massage, which was fine. My polish job looks okay -- a bit translucent if anything, and nothing special. The massage chairs are kind of janky and not very comfortable, but the pedi was much quicker than any other one I've had, so it was fine. My manicure looks great, though. One of the best I've had in a long time. Nice squared tips, primped and nipped cuticles, and perfect shiny polish. Also, be prepared: a neck/back massage comes along with the mani. Walked in to an empty salon with a Groupon for a no-chip mani. Got convinced to also get a pedicure for an extra $20 (due to the lack of customers I'm assuming) by the two women by the front desk. One woman left to go to the back room after she started the bath. The woman who did my pedicure was most likely new to doing nails, she spoke no English and the whole "foot spa pedicure" lasted maybe 6 minutes. I've never had such a bad pedicure before. She barely did anything with my feet except cut into my skin with cuticle scissors multiple times. They switched me to a different woman for the no chip mani, which chipped on the thumbs after about a week. I am never returning here. read more

I've been scoping out nail places close to my place lately, and I stopped in here this morning without an appointment. The place is spotless clean, super quiet (they play classical music instead of loud infomercials or even jerry springer like one place i stopped in!), they keep a box with a nail file and buffer that is JUST yours, and will even log your favorite nail polish colors if you want. I also like seeing the tools go from my fingers to barbasol to an autoclave. Just saying. And speaking of polish, this place may very well stock the entire OPI line. Seriously. They have more colors than you can buy at Ulta. Even the yellows, blues and greens. The manicure is more of a "spa manicure", so it will run you 15 bucks, but she was absolutely meticulous about my cuticles, gave a nice hand massage (with vitamin e oil beads) and all that goodness. I hope the polish looks as good in a few days as it does now. read more

Ugh, no way. Your toes will NOT be cute if you go to Pedicute. I admit I've been a bit of a Groupon whore lately, and have been shopping around town and going wherever there is a good deal for a no chip. I was overly confident in this salon and got two Groupons, only used one, and think I would rather just lose the money on the other on than go back. As another Yelper said, it is not really like a salon, it is small and not very well lit and doesn't seem too clean. There were two tvs and one of them was playing some weird gross plastic surgery show that we asked them to change but they didn't. Maybe they didn't hear. Maybe I'm being petty but to me the manicure should be a whole experience including the ambiance, because it's a place to go to relax and not have to worry about having to watch videos of people getting that stomach band surgery. Anyway, the no-chip mani only lasted two days before a couple of them chipped. My pedicure seemed ok but upon close inspection I saw that my toes were messy and these people just don't know how to color inside the lines! My friend was equally dissatisfied because she (oops) smooshed one of her toes and rather than redo it, they just tried to smoosh it back into place. Fail. read more

Pedicute is my favorite nail salon. They are clean, and so friendly. Not only do they do great nails, but the owner is an expert at eyebrow waxing. If there is a wait, they are honest about how long it will be (rather than other nail salons who say "10 minutes" when it's actually a half an hour!). I highly recommend Pedicute! read more

The women working here seemed really nice and personable, so I'm sorry to give a low review. I used a groupon for a mani-pedi, and I wonder if the business just shouldn't have given groupons. First, it was extremely difficult to schedule an appointment, and I was only able to schedule when I didn't mention my groupon till after I had secured a time. Second, the whole process (especially the pedicure) was really rushed. My toes are calloused from running, and the woman didn't even look at them to notice the callouses, let alone do anything about them. Great cute little salon. They treat you like a Queen here! Mon-Thurs they have a special which is $1 manicure with purchase of a pedicure so it comes to $31. They also massage your feet, ankles, calves and after your nails are done they massage your shoulders. They also use hot towels which I love - full treatment for a great price. I got the mani/pedi Groupon for this place, and I looked at the reviews beforehand so thought it was a good deal. Unfortunately, I overlooked another reviewer's comment about charging $2 to use her coupon- I understand these coupons have a disclaimer about tax & tip not included, but when another customer asked why, the woman just shrugged her shoulders and didn't tell her that. I thought that was kind of rude. Anyway, it's a shame this place is so convenient to everything because they will probably stay in business that way. Of the dozens of nail salons I've been to, this one was pretty gloomy. The nail techs did not wear gloves and did not even appear to wash their hands between customers. Also, they were not pulling fresh nail kits from any sort of sterilizing "microwave" like many places do. They simply put the nail and cuticle clippers into little cups at the work stations. In fact, at one point the woman doing my pedicure was digging through the rolling drawers that had all the tools inside and asked the woman next to her (who was also giving someone a pedicure) for a set of clippers. I am not a germiphobe or anything, but I only share clippers with my husband... In addition to these major health code violations, their "drying station" consisted of little 5 inch electric fans duct taped to a table. It was just sketchy. In summary, I am shocked this place has so many high ratings. Are you people lunatics? Go ANYWHERE but here. Its been about 48 hours since my pedicure and the paint is already chipping- I've had manicures in this city that last for WEEKS without chipping. read more

Super disappointing service experience. This nail salon was offering a Groupon for a no-chip mani-pedi. Before purchasing, I called the salon the day before to schedule a time. "When can you fit us in?" The man who answered told me to "come in anytime." I was surprised but said, "Great! See you tomorrow." I bought the groupon and stopped by with my friend at 2:45pm. They acted very surprised to see us, said they had someone with an appointment coming at 3:30, and asked us to return at 4:30. Um, horrible. I had a "surprise" day off from work (complete with childcare - woot!) and I decided to treat myself to a manicure before running errands. I have wanted to try this place for a while - I really liked the name and it is fairly convenient for me coming or going from the downtown area. I was a walk-in. I requested Pink & White nail tips. Instead of explaining to me that they don't offer that service - they chatted for a minute and then pulled out a SAMPLE of a Pink & White nail kit and proceeded to use that. They didn't use the actual plastic-like nails from the kit that go with that type of over-layer - so the awful plastic-y nails they glued on SHOWED through my acrylic layer. It was awful. The Pink & White kit makes your nails really clear - which is why they give you the special plastic glue on nails to use with that formula. I am guessing they didn't know this. Anyway - they also don't have any of the electric nail files that you need for acrylic/gel/p&w tips so they just used a regular file - which was fine - except that they left large goops of acrylic UNDER my nails and I wasn't able to get it out. I showed it to the nail person before I left and she just kind of looked confused. My nails looked "ok" when I left (except underneath the nail - and if you didn't look too closely at the nail bed) - and I believe that $60 set lasted about 48 hours before they started to peel and break off. I would never go back to this place. A complete waste of money and if they don't REALLY know how to do a service they shouldn't offer it in the first place. I felt really robbed. read more

I had a groupon for this place, was desperately in need of a mani-pedi, and my usual salon (Lakeview Nails) was closed since this was a Monday. I called several times but no one picked up until maybe the fourth call. Totally strange for a business! The guy who did my nails was polite and careful, but the atmosphere in the salon was pretty grim. No one greets you when you come in, and the woman who is charge has a terrible demeanor. OK in a pinch, but I would totally advise walking a couple of blocks to Lakeview Nails. read more

I hate to write this review, because this used to be my favorite nail place in the city. However, my last experience there was just not good. I went to Pedicute for a mani/pedi the day before my wedding. They were surprisingly busy for a Friday at noon (fortunately I had made an appointment!), and every minute of my mani/pedi was rushed, with my manicurist skipping some of the steps (massage, etc.) given to the two girls that came along with me. The reason this review is so low, however, is that the polish job was abysmal. I wore a light-colored polish, and as I sat under the dryer, I noticed that the nail polish was uneven, and all over my cuticles. It looked worse than what I could have done myself. Because I needed my nails perfect for the wedding (particularly since they were going to be photographed), I asked two people to fix the polish, and both referred me to the original manicurist. When she eventually came back, she removed some of the polish from my cuticles by dipping her fingernail in remover and running along my nail bed. (Which hurt, and wasn't very effective.) I was disappointed when I left, and even more disappointed two days later when my fingernails started chipping and two days after that when my toenails started chipping.
