I must start off by saying that we absolutely LOVE our new fence…read more We have been in our new home for just a few short years, but we knew early on that our fence would have to be replaced sooner rather than later. My husband and I had researched SEVERAL different companies in our area and surrounding areas before deciding on Fence Solutions. We were fortunate enough to be able to work with Mark and he was quick to respond to any questions we had during the entire process. We decided to go with a sleek black aluminum fence and we are sooooo happy that we did. The yard seems a lot more open and we know that with the harsh Illinois weather, this fence will hold up without a problem for MANY years to come. We are looking forward to spending more time in the backyard and upping our landscaping game now that our big projects are complete. We couldn't be happier!

I purchased a home that had a fence installed by Fence Solutions in 2021. The fence looks great,…read moreand honestly, it was part of what made us decide to buy the house. Now for the problem. We have two gates. One of them is next to the garage, and the post that the gate latches to isn't actually a real post. It's just a hollow vinyl sleeve that's attached at the top to the garage, but it's not secured to the ground. It's basically floating. According to the original receipt, the installation included 5x5 posts set 36 inches into concrete footings. That clearly isn't the case here. I contacted the company and initially got their automated system and left my information. After not hearing back, I called again and spoke to someone who was able to locate the original job and said I'd get a call back within 24 to 48 hours. I did get a call the next day, but the person who called wasn't prepared. I still took the time to explain the issue and even sent photos and a video showing exactly what's going on. Despite that, he immediately started talking about costs without ever seeing the job in person. I made it clear that I wasn't calling about warranty coverage. I understand it's been more than a year. I simply asked for someone to come out, take a look, and provide an estimate in writing, along with an explanation of how the issue would be fixed. When he mentioned that the fix would likely involve installing a proper post, it raised the obvious question, why wasn't that done correctly in the first place? He said he had another meeting in 15 minutes and would follow up after speaking with a colleague. As expected, I haven't heard anything since.

Jeff was wonderful, professional, reliable, and does fantastic quality work. Arcwood Outdoor…read moreSolutions was 1 of 7 quotes from local contractors I received to resurface my deck and stairs with Trex composite deck boards and also replace the railing with glass and cable railing last summer. To say I shopped out the quoting process would be an understatement. Jeff's quote was very fair, easy to understand, and on the lower $ range due to not having the overhead of most other companies. In the end, I decided to go with Archwood for my project and I'm so glad I did. Unlike most other contractors who over quote and rush through the job to maximize profits, Jeff will take whatever time is needed to do the job right...period. Here is the thing that is pretty rare: he listens AND is patient. Any concerns I had along through the project as I'm anal when it comes to details and perfection and any changes I wanted to make during the project, he not only listened, but he made sure my concerns were completely addressed each and every instance. I can't speak highly enough of the character of this young man. In my case, he underbid my job with the time it took for him to complete this big project and because he went over and above on getting the job done right to my satisfaction, I gave him a 60% cash bonus because he flat out deserved it. The deck looks incredible. In sum, Jeff and Archwood was not the fastest option as he does the majority of the work himself, but if you want the job done right by a man who is meticulous with details, with integrity and pride of doing great quality work (as if it was his own home), Jeff is the man for the job. Highly recommended!!!

One star for each of the three helpful aspects of our project:…read moreMatt, Michelle, and the fence itself (and workers) Matt came out to the house right away to assess the property and come up with a plan. He was absolutely awesome. So nice, personable, and very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Michelle - I made my final project payment with her over the phone this morning and this lady is fantastic. So nice, also personable, knowledgeable, and made sure all ducks were in a row. The fence itself is beautiful. It's functional, they got creative with how to cover a gap (the way our house is built on a hill so it wasn't very straightforward). They originally told us that yes there will be a gap and we will just have to figure out a way to cover it ourselves. During the installation, the workers took the initiative to cut up some fence pieces to create a small fence / block off for that gap. After the project, they took me outside again and showed me how to use the lock and all that. We enjoyed the experience! Customer service on the other hand. Not great. These reviews pointing out the communication issues are accurate. Throughout this process there have been many missed and unreturned calls, emails, and texts. 1. No response when I sent a plat asking if this was the document they needed. After not receiving a response, I sent a text to their text line. Never got a response there either. 2. They sent another email about needing the plat, I responded with two separate emails, again asking for confirmation that this was the documentation they needed. No response to either of those. 3. Sent an email to them asking information on private utilities and what's needed in terms of that. No response. Figured it out on my own though with the help of a surveyor from a completely different company that was willing to talk me through it on the phone. 4. Sent an email a couple days before the project sending additional detail about the yard/fence installation, and asking what the plan was for the existing metal fence that was in our yard prior to this, noting that I needed to provide the details to my neighbors who all have dogs as well. No response. I had to talk that through with the workers day of and text my neighbors updates in real time throughout the project. 5. We had discussed two options for what days the workers would do the project. We scheduled for the 13th. Less than a week before the project, I received notification that the installation date was changed to November 14th. No one contacted me to inform me of this. So, I emailed asking why the fence date was changed. Their response was "We have you down the 13th. If you would like to do the 14th we can make that work." I said "the 13th is still fine, but I don't understand why it was changed in the first place?". The final response from them was "It will be 14th weather permitting." What???! Then comes payment. Not many options. I REALLY wish there was an online payment system. While I had the money to pay for the fence, the money was split up between a few different accounts. So I reached out asking if I could pay the final price minus $75 via card over phone, and then bring the remaining $75 in cash in person to home depot the same day. Not an option. The message I received from the start of this process was "you can make the final payment after the installation or whenever you're ready". That's not very concrete or clear. No "payment due by" date. Not even three weeks later, I started getting USPS notices on my door for a delivery from Home Depot that required an adult signature. This was apparently regarding collections. However when you work during the day, you cannot be there to sign it, so you don't know what is actually being delivered until you just happen to be in the right place at the right time when the mail man comes by. This went on without anyone from Peerless reaching out to me to say they are trying to deliver something to me. It wasn't until I reached out to them and asked them what they are sending me that they took the time to inform me what it was and open a line of communication with me. At one point when attempting to make the final payment, Peerless processed the payment through Peerless company themselves rather through Home Depot (which is apparently where it was supposed to be charged through). So while my final payment went through, they had to run it back, refund it and re-charge the card which didn't happen for a bit. This created a mess on my credit card and future transactions. All in all, we love our fence. We are grateful for the individuals at Peerless who were so helpful to us. I would recommend Peerless if you want a nice, solid fence, AND you are willing to tolerate the lack of communication and responsiveness. So that is really up to those prospective fence buyers to decide what is most important to them for a project like this.

Now, it's extremely difficult to fully close the gate to be able to lock it. They want ~$600.00 to come out to fix it. They obviously did not do a good job of installation.
