This is maybe the only place in Chicago where my dad liked his chai latte. When my folks were visiting we would try the chai latte everywhere.My dad is very chilled out but when it comes to his chai he turns into a nazi. I like Peets for the coffee, the brownies and the zucchini bread. The brownies with the Cafe Americano... Amazing. As much as I hate coffee I have to agree with Oprah that this is very good coffee. It beats starbucks any day of the week.

Give your patronage to this store at your own risk. Despite visiting the stores here in this center, my car got towed by their towing partner, "Rendered Services, Inc.". My girlfriend even saw presumably one of their employees in their car cackling at us during our panic looking for our car. $198.50 to recover our car and 90 minutes to use public transportation to the towing company property. As for Peet's Coffee in particular, I enjoyed the Iced Mocha I got but it wasn't worth $200. read more

I love Peets coffee. It's just that simple. They have some of the best coffee around. Funny story about Peets- About 30 years ago couple of long haired college guys that were coffee freaks loved Peets passion for coffee so much they decided to open their own coffee roasting/retail store. They worked closely with the owner and employee of Peets to learn about how to buy, roast, and brew great coffee. They found a great little spot in Pikes Place Market in their hometown of Seattle and gave it the catchy name Starbucks. Kind of like Peets little stepchild. read more

Peets coffee and tea offers very high quality coffee and their tea is pretty good. Peets' coffee is among the best in the city. Kona blend is exceptional. Peets is a San Francisco based coffee shop. There are dozens in SF. There need to be more in the midwest. Staff is always courteous, hip and ready to talk. The place has a deeply ingrained coffee smell that can be powerfully nauseating. The fare is often times yuppy Lincoln park on weekends. The regulars are what make the place though. From the security guards, to the hip corporate real estate natives to the swarthy yoga teachers the place often has a pulse if you come on the right days. read more

My husband is a tea snob, and I love soda, so I'm usually only in Peets with him or to get something for him. But since we have such a large collection of loose leaf teas in our home (spilling out of kitchen cabinets), I wanted to find some somewhat practical and attractive tin canisters in which to store it. I stopped by Peets last night to get a travel mug for my husband, but asked if they sell empty tin storage canisters like the ones their teas come in. While they don't sell empty canisters, the wonderful young lady I asked, Abby, said she had a bunch of empty canisters at home and could bring them in for me this morning! Just because she's nice! Now, take this from someone who is a very amateaur tea drinker, but if the quality of Peets products are as good as the service they provide, I would come back here in a heartbeat. Peet's is my favorite "chain" coffeeshop. They need to open more in Chicago because it's ten times better than crappy Starbucks or Caribou. And all the barristas are nice and friendly too. They don't offer much in the way of food, but the coffee is excellent. read more

The barista at Peet's decided they did not do French press coffee at 2:30 on Weds. Basically she did not want to do the French Press. A few minutes prior she took the order and then decided she didn't want to do it. So thank goodness there are many coffee houses with better customer service. read more

my veins run coffee instead of blood. i think i've tried more coffee shops than my ten friends combined, and peet's is definitely one of my favorites. i try to get my morning coffee fix here, a small three shot skim latte. the espresso is so tasty, not flat, not bitter, and it's combined with just the right amount of foam to make for an excellent creamy brew. there is also a warmth to the place that extends from its environment, dark wood benches or small tables, to its staff. everyone seems so friendly and happy to serve, without acting like they're on a caffeine high. after the third visit, my name was etched on their memories, and after a half dozen, my drink was as well. since i can't remember what i just went to the kitchen for, i find that fairly amazing. they also provide a great selection of coffee beans, since we grind our own, we're pretty picky, and teas, which i've given as gifts to friends with good results. also some interesting glassware and other accoutrements that aren't ridiculously expensive. this has overtaken a couple of my old favorites, and for both product and ambiance, i'm beyond glad. oh, and they have their own parking lot, which is really easy to navigate in the pre noon hours, but it's a madhouse on weekends. read more

Wow. So we walk in just to look at the place (after taking advantage of the free parking) and the first thing we see is a free sample.... mmmm. So after talking to the coffee guy for a couple minutes about how good the sample is, we decide to buy a 1/4lb. No big deal right, but he asks if we want a free cup of coffee.... and then they give us two. For no reason other than buying ground coffee. We then sit down and drink our coffee and start looking at the tea. Another employee comes by and starts talking to us about the tea... then she asks if we want a pot of tea on the house! This place is rediculious-- brings back (actually reinvents) the meaning of good customer service! Also, their coffee is REALLY, REALLY good! We are in awe! This is tough. While I love Intelligentsia's mochas, Peet's mochas come in a close second. I wish there were more of Peet's around Chicago. This location is always busy no matter the time or day. That's okay. It's a pleasure to have my drink ready to go in under 5 minutes (unlike a certain chain where it's hit or miss with me), even when it's busy. Simple and nice. I live right near this place so it's my first choice in the area. I'm more into tea, so that's what I go for but I have heard that they make the best Latte around, from a friend who used to work in a coffee store. That's gotta say something. Coffee is super terrific! The ice coffee is amazing! If I am in need of a morning rush and I am in the area Peet's it is!!! I tried the pastries several times and they are always very dry and hard. If you can get your pastries from somewhere else and enjoy them with this delightful coffee then you will have the best morning combo ever. read more

I think that Peet's is for serious coffee drinkers (which I am not). That said, their Chai tea's and frou frou drinks are not as syrupy sweet as those at Starbucks which is probably a good thing. This is the real deal. They have a wide assortment of teas that are very potent. My favorite is Scottish Breakfast which is a beautifully intense and very smoky tea. I went here on a Sunday morning. It was pretty crowded, but we got a seat at the bar. My coffee (which I usually drink black) was very bitter and hard to drink without additives, which shouldn't be the case. The croissant I got was very good, but they don't make their own baked goods, they get them from somewhere else. If you live nearby I could see going here as a convenience, but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Oh Peet's, how I wish I could've packed you and brought you to Manhattan with me. I love this coffee shop, and I've loved the coffee longer. This place is always clean and playing lovely classical music, with very friendly hipster baristas that know their stuff about the product. Think these guys serve coffee and then service ends there. All open tables were unclean and had to bus my own to get a spot. The "coffee merchant service area" looks like it hasn't been used or cleaned up in months. Had plenty of staff working, but not sure what they were doing instead. Not sure why this place is busy. They want you to pay $00.60 for STREAMED milk and pay extra for whip cream. I will just take my business elsewhere because their base prices are already expensive. After ordering a small coffee with steamed soy and whip cream the price was the same as ordering a latte. Ridiculous. Starbucks on the other hand doesn't up charge for these things. Peet's coffee does taste better than Starbucks but Starbucks is more affordable. read more

I looove Peet's Hazelnut Latte. Bean selection here is great too. Most are pretty mild and not too acidic. They also sell an impressive array of cakes and quick breads. WIFI is also available here. :) read more

I love this place. It takes a few minutes for them to prepare your latte because they are using skill to make it (instead of pushing an automatic button). It is WELL worth it. You don't feel foolish for buying a $5 coffee. read more

Perfect for whole beans, ground coffee, and loose tea. A purchase of beans or leaves also gets you a free cup of coffee! All the roasts are good (personal preferences notwithstanding) but if you've got some extra silver lying around, get the kona. read more

This is a coffee shop franchise which is located at a mall on north avenue. This place is usually packed with people trying to study and people trying to chat with others. Has a good coffee selection, and the quality is not bad. The only thing is, last time I visited, there was a limit on wifi use. read more

Peet's rocks my socks. As a recent Chicago transplant and San Francisco Bay Area native, I was thrilled to discover one of the two Chicago-area Peets was in my 'hood! Whenever I need my coffee fix (particularly after I've had a crazy night out), I head to Peet's for my usual non-fat hazelnut latte. What I love the most is the fact that even their small lattes have TWO shots of expresso - Starbucks needs to take a hint. If the barista makes it correctly (and unfortunately I've experienced a couple bad lattes), I'm wired for the rest of the day. Head to Peet's if you need a serious coffee buzz. read more

After exploring areas off North & Clybourn to meet a tutor of mine, we settled on Peet's, so I go there at least once a week. We have never had problems finding a table, it is never too loud to distract us from lessons, and the coffee and bulk tea is EXCELLENT. They have free wi-fi as well, so I've even hosted a few work meetings there on other occasions. It's a great coffee shop, and I love everyone who works there. They couldn't be more friendly. It's basically what you want in the non-Starbucks of coffee locale. read more

Great Peet's location. I just popped in today to grab a box of tea, but even with the Saturday crowd an employee flitted by to check on me. Service was fast, and everyone was upbeat and friendly despite the uncaring mass of customers.
