Let's be real here, a Starbucks is a Starbucks. You know what to expect when you go to one. And, well, that's what we love about them! This one in particular has a LOT of seating, which I really enjoy. There are a ton of tables, lots with chairs, and some comfy benches. Overall it's just a very spacious Starbucks. They have a ton of retail merchandise for purchase, and a huge counter area, too. Every time I've been here it's been quick and easy to get my bevvies and go. I've also hung out and worked from here, which is a good starbies to do so from. They also have a small patio on the north side of the shop off lincoln, just on the sidewalk, but it looks shaded and comfy, for a perfect fall day like we've had lately! read more

When I walked in, I saw a nice and pretty standard Starbucks and all my kid wanted was a cup of ice let me be clear, a kid! And when she went up to the cashier, she simply asked for a cup of ice and the cashier plain out said "NO. It took two tries for my partner and I to be able to check out this new Bux location. The first time, they were closed unexpectedly. When we went the second time, I inferred that it might have been because they're understaffed. We love a Starbucks because there's consistency in service and drinks; however, the service here was not quite as expected. This new location also apparently didn't have oat milk even though oat milk was on the menu and is featured in signature drinks these days? None of these issues kept me from ultimately getting a drink that was made correctly and that I ultimately enjoyed, so I'm still giving this Starbucks a solid four-star review. I'd also still go back if I was nearby, in the mood for a coffee, and other cafes were closed. Other positives include that they have a small outside patio, the leather couches are cute, and the bathroom was clean. Social distancing wasn't being strictly enforced but I blame the ignorant patrons for not reading or respecting the signs that said tables or sections were closed. read more

Nice large windows let in natural light and this is one of the biggest Starbucks I've been to. They have a small area of outdoor seating with umbrellas and the place is relatively clean. They got my order right -- cold brew with sweet cream and a water. The cashiers were polar. One was super chipper and kept the queue in check. The other was unfriendly and damped the good vibes. It's a Starbucks. In general, expect bitter coffee (some love it, some don't), godawful 'pastries' (guys, calling them pastries doesn't mean your chocolate croissants should have the consistency of paste, and look like someone sat on them), and to be told to consult your cell phone to see a full menu of offerings, even though you're right there in the freaking store. But that said, at this location, they'll consistently make your coffee ANY way you want it, it comes out HOT (or cold, per your order), and they have a decent loyalty program (although you have to make a deal with the devil as far as your data goes - true of any Starbucks location, though). It's VERY clean, also roomy compared to most locations, although they're skimpy on seating post Covid restrictions, and random about how they enforce it. Picture a spacious room w/just a handful of tiny tables spread throughout, well apart from each other, but still with some bearing stickers or with turned-up chairs restricting their use (FGS why not just pull the table and avoid the aggro???), although I've seen staff insist that a person seated at one table w/a sticker surrender it, and not five minutes later, a second person seated themselves there with no problem, so you never know. Over several visits, it becomes obvious that the 'restrictions' are randomly enforced w/no rhyme or reason. So if you're coming for a carryout order, carry on. But if you're coming w/the intent to sit and relax in this spacious Starbucks while you consume it, think twice. You might end up with your $$ swelling the empire's accounts and you juggling your order as you walk down the street looking for somewhere to sit and enjoy it in the July heat. read more

Service is always friendly at the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square Starbucks on Wilson/Lincoln Ave. The custom drinks are the biggest reason I come here. As well as an excellent app. It has an up-to-date clean interior, outdoor seating and fast service. We've been going there for 3 years and have never had anything but friendly greetings. The location is super convenient and near other shops and businesses. There are plenty of menu options and merchandise at the shop. read more

Since I live in the 'hood and work from home a lot, alone, a coffee house is a welcome change of venue. Starbucks is never my first choice. The Grind, Oromo, Groundswell, The Perfect Cup are all much more of what I'm looking for in ambiance... and COFFEE. This location always feels crammed and crowded. This morning the barista did not greet me, did not smile and after every question I had to say "Excuse me?" Girl, open your mouth when you talk. Or turn the 'music' down! My experience here was absolutely perfect. I know it's a chain and realize it's Starbucks, but I have to say it's been a long time since I've been to a location where it wasn't too cold, too crowded or too loud! Of course this place is in my old stomping grounds from back in the day, but I haven't visited in quite awhile. In fact I didn't even expect to find a table to hang and work, but I did...whoo hoo! The staff here is lovely and organized - no attitude whatsoever. There was a bit of a line, but they shuffled us through quickly. Here you'll find Old Town peeps, parents with young children, the usual unusual city folks, and some serious study/work customers like myself. There's a specific library table for those who want to spread out and work with their computers, but plenty of tables and window seats if you're one of the lucky ones like I was. The new food product line is okay, but I really miss my lemon cake. My chocolate croissant was nothing super special, but I didn't expect anything spectacular. Loaded with chocolate, it wasn't homemade heavy, but they did heat it for me and that was unexpected. If you're seeking a spot to chill and relax with a cup and your laptop, this is a find. If I lived closer I'd be a regular for sure. Until then, it's the cold crowded locations for me. Sigh... read more

Not a bad Starbucks. We met our kids here for coffee one evening. This location is well appointed, has clover machines, but does not have enough seating. I suppose that is true for a lot of Starbucks though. The coffee is very consistent from one Starbucks location to another so I really can't comment on that other than I like Starbucks coffees. I do wish that customers who go to Starbucks would be more considerate sometimes. I really don't want to hear you talking about your love life on your cell phone while you talk at concert hall volumes. It would also be nice if people were considerate enough that when they see people standing and waiting for seats, they would remove their coat from the seat of the chair to their left, and their backpack from the seat of the chair on their right while they stare at their iPads. That would really improve the experience. But, that is not entirely Starbuck's fault. People should simply be more courteous. Right? read more

Love this location! It's great for people watching out on the patio. It's a bit noisy but I like noise usually so it doesn't bother me. Everyone is very friendly and they can talk you into stuff without even trying, not like anyone has to twist my arm to get a latte with a pastry! I like the neighborhood and it's close to the 'El' if you want to get away. Parking is OK, you have to drive around a bit or just walk which is what I usually do since it's about a mile away, makes the 120 calorie cake pop easier to swallow! read more

Well, if you know me, you know that I am supremely addicted to Starbucks... And by addicted, I mean the whole delirium tremens if I don't have my daily Iced Caramel Macchiato! When I walked into this place on a Friday night, I had to laugh because there were dozens of patrons with their heads buried in their laptops! This is one of the worst Starbucks that I have ever visited! The Barista- Kim...yes I'm calling you out.... are super snobby as if they're doing me a favor by waiting on me. Listen I get it we're all super cranky and everybody wants their coffee now and to have places to go. But a smile and a friendly greeting can go a long way, regardless if you know my name or not. After all we are spending about $5 on a cup of coffee. She made me feel like I was the dumb one by asking me several times what size of coffee I wanted when I refused to say the correct Starbucks size. I had vowed not to return but unfortunately I did and I should have stayed away. I ordered a medium tea and a donut and not only did I again get the artificial aftertaste for the donut but the total came out to $9! How is this possible? So nowadays you cannot have a medium tea (water with a teabag, because that's what it is, no loose leaf tea here) and a donut for less than 9 bucks? The medium tea was $4 dollars! I don't know where the venti Pike (just a large regular coffee) is at nowadays in terms of price, but that large coffee was $2.27 at this location only 2 years ago. If the medium tea is now $4 the venti Pike must be close to what? $7? Who can afford that? Starbucks has fast become a place for the elites, and they are pricing out their main customers. I don't know what is her name..the lady who took my order today around 11am. I came here once a week after my daughter and I finished a class from Old town school. And today was my second time with the same lady. She looks unhappy & unwelcome face. Never see her smile since the first time and today she got my order wrong. I told her I wanted ham and cheese croissant but I got butter one instead. It was just like she didn't seem to care what I ordered. I tipped her first time and never heard "Thank you" from her mouth. I was going to tip her as well today but my order was wrong and I feel like I don't want to bother her to get a new one also doesn't want to see her grumpy face. If you think you can't handle if it's too busy for you just tell the manager that they need to hire someone else to help you. But if you are the manager with this attitude, go find a new job that you really like. read more

This place deserves zero stars because of its customer service but most importantly because of baristas' prejudice and discrimination directed at patrons of color. Today, 07/11/22 at 4:10 p.m, two baristas ignored my father as he asked them for our drinks at the counter. They stood and watched him for a minute before they put in the order. After waiting for more than 10-minutes for our drinks, they gave my father his Coffee without cream or sugar, which is what he asked for. When my father approached one of the baristas (one wearing a pink N95), he said, "What!" In a rude tone. My father kindly asked for this, and I don't understand how other customers (white customers) were not given this treatment but my father. Oh, and by the way, they laughed at him, humiliated him. His wife had to make sure my father was okay. Please do not support this Starbucks because they will serve you coffee with a sprinkle of racism -- disgusting. As a graphic designer, sitting at my computer at home can get pretty boring. The local coffee shop on the block never had open seating & only gives you 120 minutes of wifi, so I often find myself at this Starbucks when I have a big deadline and working at home just isn't cutting it. As far as Starbucks go, this one is pretty spacious, has lots of natural light, and has friendly baristas. There are lots of tables & there's almost always a window seat. They give away lots of free samples & my tea is always perfectly sweetened. However, the one bathroom is pretty much always out of tp or soap & has a line down the entire back hall. Plus it seems like the A/C is always on full blast--even when it's 65 degrees out. Also annoying about this location? Stroller nannies! I don't get what's so hard about folding down a stroller when you walk into a busy coffee shop. I've had strollers rested against me & my feet run over by those tricycle strollers with the giant front wheel on multiple occasions. The people who work here are doing a great jobs of making a run-of-the-mill coffee chain a good place to get work done, I just wish the customers were as considerate. read more

In Old Town you have 24/7 Starbucks, which features more comfy chairs and spacious tables for the allnighters that are an inevitability of higher education. In Lincoln Square you will find lots of mommies with strollers swarmed with armies of loud children begging for books from Sulzer Library. It is loud, very loud. Starbucks is Starbucks, so I won't waste your time or mine writing about the coffee or the food served here. If you're not familiar with Starbucks by now, you're probably not a coffee or tea drinker anyway so why are you reading this review? I love coffeehouses. They're the only places an adult can just hangout - read, write, work, socialize - without getting drunk. Not that I don't like hitting the bars every now and again, I do, but when I just want out of the house, I head for a coffeehouse. If you read my review of The Grind Coffeehouse located a half-block north of this particular Starbucks, then you know I don't go to coffeehouses just for the coffee and pastries. I go for ambiance and amenities. Starbucks, adopting the corporate philosophy that making each store virtually the same builds brand identity and offers consumers (notice I didn't say guests or even customers) a consistent experience, rarely offers either ambiance or amenities. The furniture is the same, the music is the same, the uniforms are the same and WIFI must be purchased through T-Moblie. But, they're everywhere and though I'd much rather be sitting in Wicker Park's now defunct Filter or Lakeview's long-gone Scenes (closed when Starbucks moved in down the street and demanded the landlord terminate the lease), I go. Begrudgingly. The Starbucks on the corner of Wilson and Lincoln in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood is a little different. Everything here is the same as at any other Starbucks on the planet, yet somehow it still manages to feel like a neighborhood hangout. There are two main factors that make this place appealing: the staff and the customers. I've spent a lot of time tending bar and each time I walk in here I have the same thought, "These baristas would make great bartenders." The staff here is friendly, conversational and helpful. They treat regulars like myself with the same welcoming attitude with which I've always tried to treat my bar regulars. You should know, none of the employees here is a personal friend. I'm writing this because they do good work and deserve recognition. People criticize Starbucks for being a corporate giant sucking the personality out of neighborhoods and towns and turning our diverse city and nation into one big strip mall - a Starbucks next to a Gap, next to a Baby Gap, next to a Pre-natal Gap. But, the people who work there aren't corporate giants, they're students, actors, writers, and people trying to figure out what's next. This Starbucks is fortunate to have a really nice group of people working for them, many of whom could probably earn a good deal more waiting tables or slinging beer. And then there are the regular customers. I don't interact with anyone really, but it is nice to walk in here, see familiar faces, give them a quick nod and a smile and them plop down in my usual spot. This is a very active community and it's nice to see lots of people coming and going, hanging out and talking, reading, working, whatever - the activity helps me recharge my batteries. The only real negative here is that sometimes, especially during the day, the place is filled with screaming kids. Now, before anyone gets upset - "Oh, another complaint about kids," - I really like kids. But, there is a large contingent of parents and caregivers here who come in, sit down to talk with the other adults and let their kids run around and climb all over everything. Not all parents, mind you, but enough so that on several occasions when a parent or group of parents have left with their children, everyone in the place sits up, looks at everyone else and smiles. Note to parents, nannies, mannies and babysitters: some of us go here to work, unwind and relax. There are even other parents out there who go here to escape from their own screaming kids. They certainly don't want to trade listening to their kids for listening to yours. Adults need places to hangout too. Use your trips to Starbucks and other places to teach your kids how to behave in public places. You'll be doing them a favor. Teach them now and they won't grow into the type of adult you're embarrassed to go out to dinner with. I'll get off the soapbox now. The one thing I would like to see Starbucks' management do here is add more comfortable seating. The store is large enough to accommodate more than two big, comfortable chairs. There used to be three, one was broken so they got rid of it, but never replaced it. Also, they rearranged the store less than a year ago and moved the only two comfortable chairs right next to the doors. Note to Starbucks Management: You have lot's of competition in this neighborhood. Make it a more comfortable place to hangout and you'll steal away business from the other coffeehouses - especially at night. That said, I do like this Starbucks. The staff is great and it manages to have a neighborhood vibe. read more

I have nothing negative to say about the staff, or the coffee.....they have always been polite and usually know my face so they know what I am having in the mornings. The reason for only 3 stars is for like one fellow review........mother's and strollers! What the crap??? I mean, I walk in some days and I feel like I am in a nursery almost tripping on strollers and kids who don't look where they are going! Kids touching EVERYTHING, kids spilling their drinks and making messes on the table......and parents these days do not know how to say NO to these kids. They just go "oh Ryan, don't do that buddy". or "its OK, you didn't know those cups break". Um, don't touch um kid!! Anyway that's why i never sit in these places.........I take it to go.........so for coffee, it's good.....but for a crowded sit down experience, sometimes it feels like the Ringling Brothers Circus is in town. read more

I'm always a fan of Starbucks locations where the baristas have a great sense of humor, and suggest twists on favorites. During the fall, my all time favorite is the Caramel Apple Spice Cider. One of the baristas that I would talk to frequently while waiting for my drinks, suggested I try it with Chai. I gave it a shot and it was delicious, but the aftertaste was not a favorite of mine, so I haven't gotten it since. However, it was delicious and I appreciate the suggestion. If you want to beat the line here, go around 7am-7:15 during the week. Anytime after and you risk standing in line. My lack of star is if you don't hit it at the right time, you risk running into stroller mania. read more

The baristas are nice and seem rather pepped up (probably too much Starbucks in their systems) even later in the evening. They have a ton of tables but not many "comfy" chairs. Now if you're like me and you're going here because your friend has a giftcard to the place, you'll desire one of these comfy chairs. Especially if you're going to help said friend with a pseudo tutoring session coupled with cozying up with your new book. However, the chairs are in the middle of the room and just make no sense. It makes it nearly impossible to comfortably people watch all the characters going up and down Lincoln Avenue while studying, tutoring, reading your book and sipping your (average but overpriced) Starbucks drink.. unless you do so in one of the hard wooden chairs by the window. That all said, the only reason I went here is because my friend had a giftcard to it. Otherwise, there's a much better coffee place just up the road a few doors. read more

Completely lacking in customer service skills. The barista took forever to acknowledge me when I was ready to order... mind you, no one was in line, just me. The blonde coffee (which is supposedly lighter) seems burnt as well. How I long for the days when a coffee shop had it's own distinctive coffee flavor, and it was medium-bodied. Also, on a previous occasion I was suppose to meet my daughter at this location. She was nowhere to be found and after 15 or 20 mins. I started to panic a bit. I went up to the barista to ask if they had seen a girl, and began describing her & what she had on....the guy laughed in my face and walked away. ??? What kind of jerk behavior is that? I think this might be my favorite Starbucks in the city when I'm looking to stay and linger. Most of the Chicago Starbucks (especially those in the loop) are pretty cramped. There never seem to be enough tables for those who want to enjoy their coffee inside. On a Saturday afternoon, however, this one had plenty. It's fantastic because I love not having to wait for someone to get up when I want to sit down and it means I can stay awhile and read or use the free wifi without guilt. Of course, the drinks are also good here and the service is consistent. My egg nog iced latte was served up quickly. By the time I had paid I only waited a minute before the order came up. Fantastic. The only thing that could make this place better would be a bit more coziness (i.e. a fireplace or wood floor over tile) but otherwise, it might be my favorite Starbucks in the city. read more

Why am I reviewing a Starbucks? Well, there's not anything particularly special about this one, to be honest (although it does have above average people watching). But, frankly, I was just so inspired the other day by my Maple Syrup latte. As a former barista back in the day when it was an art to creat a great shot (17-23 seconds long) and bad shots (everything else) based on the fineness of the grind, the tamp, humidity, etc., versus now where something has been lost with the push button nature of the new machines (which I still can't understand how I can still get a messed up Americano), I am disappointed that I didn't think of putting maple syrup in a latte. In general I don't like the seasonal lattes (my mouth just can't like coffee + banana or pumpkin or gingerbread). But this one is killer. Give it whirl sometime.... Update - Maple latte is not delivering. Roughly $4 for the first whiff of Maple, and then it basically tastes like a regular latte after that. Oh well, someone will perfect the combo someday, in the meantime, stick with a regular cappucino and get your maple fix with their maple muffin. read more
