Master planners Robert A.M. Stern and Jaquelin T. Robertson organized the town into distinct neighborhoods centered around parks and communal squares, with the goal of recreating the charm and sense of community associated with classic American small towns. One of the community's most popular green spaces is Founders Park, a hub for recreation and local activities. The park features a large athletic field used for soccer, football, and other sports, as well as tennis courts and a playground. Unfortunately, during my visit, the fields had recently been fertilized, and the overwhelming smell of horse manure quickly drove me out of the park. Before leaving, I stopped by my favorite part of Founders Park: the Veterans Memorial. The memorial was initiated by Eagle Scout Simon Sharp, who raised $15,000 for the project and created its original design. Tragically, Simon was diagnosed with leukemia during the effort. He received his Eagle Scout award for the project the day before he passed away from the disease. Volunteers completed the memorial in his honor. Today, the memorial stands as both a tribute to America's veterans and to Simon's service to the community. The park also contains a plaque honoring Simon's contributions, along with another commemorating Revolutionary War patriots. A popular spot for pictures is the large circle on the ground that says Celebration Florida with its founding date, 1994.

Lake Hartridge Nature Park is located on the southwest shore of Lake Hartridge, a 433 acre, figure…read more8 shaped lake on the north side of Winter Haven. Lake Hartridge is part of the Northern Chain of Lakes that feeds into the Peace River. The ponds in the park act as stormwater treatment cells, Through natural processes, water is collected and contaminants are removed preventing nutrients and oxygen depleting compounds from passing into Lake Hartridge. An added benefit of the ponds is that they attract wildlife like alligators, turtles, and native birds. Other features of the park include a one third mile paved path for walking, jogging, and biking. There is a covered playground with a play fishing boat and several pavilions with picnic tables and grills. There is also a fishing pier. Dogs are welcome and there water fountains and waste clean bag stations. This charming park makes you feel far removed from busy Havendale Boulevard. I enjoyed the walking path and interpretative signs informing about the different plants and animals that live around the lake. This beautiful park is the perfect spot to bird watch, take the kids to play, exercise, and picnic. I especially love the lake view which is so peaceful and serene.

Designed by The Walt Disney Company in the 1990s, the park serves as Celebration's main recreational hub. Amenities include a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, and playgrounds. Many of these facilities require a resident key and are reserved for Celebration residents who pay community fees. Visitors, however, are welcome to enjoy the rocking chairs, picnic tables, umbrellas, and the scenic wooden boardwalk that circles the lake. Keep an eye out for the park's resident alligator, which is occasionally spotted along the shoreline. Just steps away, you'll find downtown Celebration's charming shops and a variety of restaurants. The park also hosts numerous festivals and community events throughout the year, including Independence Day celebrations, Founders Day, the Embrace of Celebration Music Festival, Battle of the Food Trucks, Once Upon a Magic Market, the Celebration Farmers Market, holiday parades, and seasonal runs. It also serves as the starting point for town-wide 5K races and the staging area for the community's Veterans Day Parade. During my visit, I enjoyed strolling along the lakeside boardwalk and taking in the peaceful scenery. Unfortunately, the lawn had been recently fertilized with what smelled like horse manure, and the odor was overwhelming. Here in Magic Kingdom, its not a train ride but, a splash pad station. As tourist or a local you should find this place a little useful, being in the humid heat of Florida. Going around Magic Kingdom can be draining and leave you with that sticky feeling. It's located near Goofy's Barnstormer ride and we made two visits here, one in the morning and afternoon. The Casey Jr. Train just stays put and doesn't move at all. Situated on the train are animals that squirt here and there at random. You'll even get sprayed when your back is turned and not knowing where the water sprout came from. So there's some fun factor from it, especially for the kids. My son didn't really find the concept exciting unfortunately, but it does play the Casey Jr. Train theme song in brief moments and he did like that part of it. I did find the misty water effects useful if you like to stand on a certain spot to cool down. Other than that, there isn't much here in this small area.

This was originally home to the Disston Sugar Mill in the 1870s. After the city of St. Cloud was founded by Union Army veterans, the area gradually evolved into a scenic waterfront destination featuring walking trails and a large marina. After suffering extensive hurricane damage in 2004, the park underwent a major renovation. The improvements included 140 boat slips, new fixed and floating docks, a seawall, and a 10,000-square-foot community center. Today, Lakefront Park offers so much, with a sandy beach, splash pad, playgrounds, a concession stand, and more than two miles of paved walking and biking trails. The park also hosts a variety of community events, from monthly "Movies Under the Stars" screenings to seasonal festivals and bazaars. The full-service marina serves as a hub for boating and fishing on East Lake Toho while providing beautiful waterfront views. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning. Next time, I plan to take a cruise aboard The Lillie, a beautifully restored 75-foot authentic sternwheel paddleboat docked at the marina, and enjoy a meal at Crabby's on the Lake, the popular waterfront restaurant located adjacent to the park.

We also found a fantastic quick service, Pecos Bill. The nachos were fantastic and filling. If you come here more often and want to take some things slow, Tom Sawyer Island is also part of this western experience. Because the attractions are tucked away, this is a quieter spot to be.

Recently, the riverboat was removed and the Rivers of America for the new addition of the Cars themed area. The land's most popular attractions include the following: Big Thunder Mountain: This is a runaway mine train coaster that plunges through red rock canyons, abandoned tunnels, and a mining town. The typical standby wait time averages between 30-45 minutes for this ride. It does accept lightning lane though! Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Lightning lane is accepted on this ride. It was recently reimaged to Tiana's Bayou Adventure. It is a water ride, and you will get wet! Even wearing a rain jacket, I got soaked! Standby wait times during the summer can get lengthy, up to an hour! Country Bear Jamboree: This show is great! I watch it every time I come to Disney World. The wait time is minimal. It's a musical show highlighting a lot of Disney themed movie songs, like Zootopia and a few other Country Bear Jamboree classics. There are a lot of shops and dining spots inside Frontierland. Those include Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn, Westward Ho, Golden Oak Outpost, Frontier Trading Post, and more! Some of my favorite snack places are at Westward Ho and Golden Oak Outpost. Their menu items change seasonally! You'll find Frontierland entrance from Main Street! This is a must visit and would recommend experiencing all of the rides/attractions while visiting Magic Kingdom!
