While I was hanging out with baby girl during her Target run, I suddenly started to feel intense hunger pangs. She suggested Panda Express, but I really wanted Pei Wei. Although she agreed to what I wanted, she didn't want to drive all the way to Boca Raton...[sigh]...this is exactly why I prefer to drive myself. She found the nearest location on her navigation system (Coral Springs) and followed the course of directions. This Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is located in The Walk of Coral Springs. Its layout is similar to the Boca Raton location and has that same welcoming ambiance. As my daughter overlooked the menu on the wall, I greeted a pleasant employee who took my order for chicken lo mein. I substituted shrimp for the chicken and added broccoli to the dish. My daughter ordered a shrimp lo mein for herself. The food was made in a timely manner and we both agreed the dishes were very good and filling...the noodles were cooked al dente with perfectly cooked shrimp and crunchy veggies in a savory soy sauce. I still remember when this Pei Wei location opened. It was a BIG deal in my household and we frequented there... frequently! We stopped by Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. Service was great, the man who helped us out was going back and forth between the front and the kitchen, but he was on top of it and greeted us when we walked in. They might've been short staffed this day because some of the tables had to be wiped down. I wiped down ours just to remove some crumbs from the last patrons and we got our food in no time. I got the kung pao chicken with noodles which was tasty! It was pretty spicy (I forgot to ask for it to be mild) but the noodles were cooked well and the chicken was seasoned and spiced perfectly. Pops and I were kinda bored with the same old restaurant lineup. Looking to shake things up, we decided to give a shot to one of our old favorite chains Pei Wei. Going inside, there wasn't too long of a wait. For dinner we ordered 1x Mongolian beef and 1x drunken noodles with chicken. Moving on with our review; the food overall was pretty mid. The Mongolian beef was tender and came tossed in a savory unami mushroom sauce. However, there wasn't much beef and the fried rice was super bland. The drunken noodles felt like it could've been saucier, but mostly needed more pizzazz, but the chicken was very tender. Overall, it seems that quality and inflation has taken a toll as our experience tonight wasn't all that. My final verdict would be a 3/5. read more

I have the spicy drunken noodles well, so good. I also ordered the beef and broccoli with brown rice, but the brown rice was so hard. Oh my goodness I had to re-cook the rice that was the only thing that was off other than that my noodles were good and flavorful the beef from the beef and to do entrée was also good and broccoli. Disappointing quality. It's such a shame because they could be such a good restaurant. Their menu is decent, their location and cleanliness is good. Their staff is good. But their quality of food stinks. Their chicken is so fatty half of it wasn't edible. Their rice is boring, and their noodles are a bit off I can't explain how. If they used higher quality chicken, or trimmed some fat off, it would be so much better. I do like they offer greens instead of rice or noodles but the sauce was terrible. I also like they offer good utensils and generous amounts of fortune cookies. Upgrade the quality of protein and its 4 stars. Upgrade the quantity too and it's 5 stars.
