I've been coming here for years during the summer on the boat. It's progressively gotten worse every year. I don't understand when summer kicks off you should know it's going to be busy, have both kitchens open, have plenty of kitchen staff and servers. Although the drinks keep flowing if you can track your server down. The positive thing this year is they have the POS tablets to make things faster, increase the support staff and kitchen staff to get food out. If this place wasn't one of the few places on the water it would be out of business by now. I hope you take this feedback and do better. We come here too much for this subpar service. read more

Second time at this restaurant, first time was fair and we decided to give it another try. Very crowded in the lower deck but we found a table at the entrance and sat ourselves like the sign said. Waited 20 minutes and no one came to our table to give us a menu or take a drink order. The couple beside us was waiting for their check the entire time and seemed very agitated looking around for the waiter. We went up to the bar to see if we could at least order a drink and the bartender was yelling telling people to get out if they weren't ordering a drink. Needless to say we still were not helped at the bar and decided to leave. Very unorganized, couldn't tell who was staff and overall atmosphere was extremely chaotic for 2 young adults trying to have a drink and some seafood on a Saturday evening. read more

The ambiance and service was great. The food could use much improvement. Their fries are so thin and came out room temperature. Their previous fries were much thicker and tastier I think they should switch back. The green beans I remember being much spicier and less deep fried. The chicken in the Caesar salad appeared to come pre-seasoned, cut and cooked from a bag. I recommend they use real tenders that they make in house; this chicken was not. The steak bites for 6 ounces is $26, which I find absurd. Half their menu says market price and there are no prices on their drink menu so you have to ask. Royal Red Shrimp are hard to find outside of South Alabama - but get 'em here and you will NOT be disappointed. Not only are they seasoned well, they are perfectly cooked (easy to peel, not stuck to the shell). Served with melted butter and cocktail sauce - but you really don't need either one. These shrimp ate well seasoned already. The fried shrimp are also great - big, crispy, and flavorful. And the fries are perfect!! Crispy outside, soft inside, not too thick. just perfect. All that AND a patio overlooking the lake. How can you beat that? read more

We went to pelican cove last night and had a horrible experience. we had a waitress with red hair who was extremely rude. we were there for 2 hours and in those 2 hours she took our drink order and food order and that was it. never came back. we waited a hour and a half for our food to come out all completely wrong. we didn't even get half the food we ordered yet were charged for it!! we were so fed up we just paid the bill and left. overall it's a great atmosphere and fun place to hang out. however the service was horrible. i know it was a saturday night and it was busy. but the treatment we received from the server was absolutely inexcusable. i hate to even take time out of my day to do this. but it was just that bad. read more

Yall I was sitting there having drinks eating my crab claws minding my business. I decided to order a shrimp wrap to go it took these ppl 45 minutes to bring my wrap. Ok boom got my wrap headed out because I had somewhere else to be. Well I decided to take a bite of my wrap and it was a chicken wrap. At this point I'm irritated so I called them letting them know they messed up my order. They never called back. But this ain't the messed up part. My wife and I went for lunch on Sunday and sat at the outside bar. Bartender was very quick to welcome us and gave us menus. We split the shrimp basket, more than enough for the two of us. Came with fries and hush puppies. Great taste ...really enjoyed it. Nice selection of beers but nothing on tap. Wife had their frozen specialty drink, Pink Pelican. Tasty! Live music...Hunter Gibson! The only restaurant with outdoor seating on the Rez! I come here for the drinks, the view, music and atmosphere. Do not expect great service, 5 star food or a quiet clean-family oriented establishment. This is a Dive Bar 100% and they are pretty great at this niche. Especially since Pelican Cove is the only Restaurant on Ross Barnett Reservoir with a boat doc and outdoor seating on the water. For these two features I will continue to come back here ... and for the music! They hire some pretty great bands. Ngl, worst service in the past at least 5 years. - waited 30+ minutes for a menu - waited 15+ minutes for a check. Lol - We had to get our own beer, which is not that bad until the server later claimed some other server served us the beer. that's just fucked up. We know who got the beer for us of course. Hey Dallas J if you are reading this and realized you are wrong, I'm still accepting apologies here lol. - then when I paid, the manager was there, so I told him the service was slow, literally the first thing he said, is i quote "I just want you to pay your check". This was my first time to visit this establishment, my family and I walked in and were confused about whether we seated ourselves or waited for the hostess. The security guards and several wait staff members passed us, but didn't acknowledge us. My husband finally asked someone, and we were told to sit wherever we could find seating... unfortunately it was outside and it was a cold night, after waiting for someone to come and take our order. Basically Vanish company against senior citizens I went in and took a seat at a table on the upper level. The table had not be cleaned. But the lower level was full. I sat there 15 minutes and was never greeted or waited on. I went to the upper bar and asked for a manager who never came out. I finally left. I called to speak with a manager She finally picked up after 10 minute hold. And basically told me I was at fault. Several servers passed by me and never said a word. One did as I was leaving. The ambiance is good. Live music on Sunday afternoon (5:30pm). The hush puppies are good with the comeback sauce. The roast beef po'boy is not good. It was a glorified steak-um. The only reason i gave it 3 stars is for the good signature drinks and live music. The grilled food would get one star. read more

Went for drinks and apps on Memorial Day- Beautiful day, live music, pretty busy considering Covid 19 has kept everyone away. Everyone was needing some time outside. Boats can pull right up to the bar area/ servers take care of you on your boat too. Drinks were good - Titos frozen drink was delicious but sweet. Buckets of beer hit the spot. This was a great stop on our bike trip. I had Royal Reds for the first time and loved them. I am not sure what they seasoned them with but it was delicious. The only thing I did not like was by the time I got close to the end of my meal that seasoning started to be overpowered by salt. The last few I ate were very salty but I would probably order them again. You cannot beat the view of the water. We sat right on the water and watched the storm roll through. I also ordered a cup of gumbo with rice which was pretty good but probably not order it again. It need some more spice to it. The waitress, Red, was pretty attentive but I wish she would have written down our orders. Three out of four meals were brought out incorrectly. Ok, ok. The food was just ok but the view was great as the sun began to set over the rez. I showed up hungry and quickly read the Yelp reviews that were less than impressive and I said screw it and went on in (since when does Yelp tell me what to do, think about it). I do not make a good hangry man so this was probably a good move. Grabbed a seat on the outside overlook which was a good call (you choose your seat). Here's the short of it: 1. took 2 hours to get a coke (no exaggeration) 2. appetizers were prompt and tasty. 3. main course took an hour and a half and was cold (fish and chips). 4.saw our waitress three times (order,drop off, check) horrible service and felt our business was more of a hinderance than appreciated. This is one of the worst restaurants I have eaten at in a long time. It was on the hit list for me for a while, and when I finally went, it was a big disappointment. The service is not good; quality and portion of the food is very small; atmosphere not fun; did not enjoy my food at all; and let me not forget to mention that the restrooms were not clean (HUGE problem for me); and they did not have sanitizer available at all (and we are under the Coronavirus alert). Had a very nice lunch there yesteday. The food was good. I had a burger and fries, and my friend had the shrimp po boy and onion rings. she loved it too! The waiter was super nice. Sat at a high top and had no problem seeing the fish and ducks. It was 100degrees outside but they had air and fans moving and it was very comfortable. I would definitily eat lunch there again! The patio has been enclosed giving this place a new look and feel. This makes is hard to throw french fries to the ducks and fish (harder not impossible).
