Birthday dinner with family from all over the country! This place is amazing. Every course was on point and absolutely high-end what is funny is that I'm writing this review almost a year later. I thought I did post one, but I guess not so more on this funny point I'm turning 70 this year and my sister had planned a surprise party for me and everyone in the family was flying in and it was gonna be at the same location but due to the travel delays caused by the government shut down everyone canceled including me. I told my sister I couldn't fly out to Mississippi. There's no direct flight from El Paso. The food here is absolutely amazing. for the appetizers me, my gf, and my mom got the lobster rolls (first time trying lobster) and it was amazing we also got the pimento cheese and bacon jam with bread which was also amazing and my mom got a half dozen of oysters and she loved them and says that they were the best she's ever had. The staff were super friendly and made sure that our cups were always filled. Oh boy, my expectations were high based on the reviews so I made a reservation for my wife's birthday. This was shocking. A reservation just means you join the line at the door at that time. It took forever to get a table. May as well have been a walk up. When we were finally seated we ordered gumbo for appetizers. The rice wasn't cooked. Raw rice in the gumbo was like eating sand. Horrible, but we suffered on. My wife ordered the wood grilled salmon and I tried the signature redfish Anna. The redfish still had scales on it and the salmon was soft mush inside. Disappointing food quality and slow service. We were deserted after bringing the issue with the gumbo to their attention and it went to crap from there. That should have been a sign to chalk it up to experience and leave. There are amazing places to eat In Mississippi but this isn't one of them. As a first time diner at CAET, I will have to say that the entire dining experience was ! From our waiter (Jason) to the entire menu offering, this is clearly a jem. Even the Bourbon and Rye selections are top-tier! I started with a half Wedge Salad whish was massive. I will have to say that this Wedge was maybe one of the best I have ever had. For my entré I had the Bay Sea Scallops on a bed if White Truffle Risotto. Drool...! The Scallops were massive and tender, the Risotto was perfectly done and the side of Brussel Sprouts with Bacon was superb! As I am spending time in the Jackson area working this week and next, I will be coming back and highly recommend considering dining at CAET. read more

We live over an hour from Jackson so when we get to town we race all over getting stuff we need. It is really a rush around finding stuff. We usually don't make a reservation and didn't this night. We pulled up to CAET and the parking lot was packed. As I was parking my wife called to see if we needed a reservation and was told the place was packed but there was no waitlist. We went in and got seated right away. This was our first time though both of us had heard good things. We ordered the oyster appitizer. We had a dozen fixed three ways. All great. I recommend it. I also ordered the lobster roll, which is fried for no apparent reason. I don't recommend it. It tasted like chicken fingers. I then had the scallops from the menu. i mention that because they had a scallops special that sounded great but not as good as off the menu. It was great. Big scallops is a wonder sauce served over a bed of wonderful rice. My wife tried a bit of both but came back several times for tasts of the rice. I should mention that I usually don't eat rice but i'm glad I got this. We had pie for desert. I had the Key Lime that was great but the piece was so big I couldn't finish it. My wife had the Peanut Butter pie. The pie is peanut butter over chocolate. Right here I must admit I love peanut butter and I love chocolate, but I don't like them together. Go figure. The service was great. That place was in-fact packed but we never felt like we were not being paid attention to. Also, the ambiance was cool and interesting. Quick dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday Saturday evening at CAET. First thing, never go without a reservation. We've had ours for three weeks and our table was ready when we arrived. There was a long wait for those who did not have one. I finally got up the nerve to try a cup of the gumbo. It was decent. Plenty of meat and shrimp in there but the flavor profile was nothing to write home about. I would not get it again. When the menu says "with cornbread" it means that small hunk floating in it, not an actual full slice of cornbread. My entree was the Cedar plank salmon. I asked for a medium cook on it and it was done to perfection! Not only was it cooked well but it was seasoned well too. One of the better cooked salmon in the area. I liked the onion and potato tart and I subbed the thin beans for spinach, which was very good too. Dessert for me was the tres leches cake. It was good too. It was a nice ending to a very good meal. Service was just ok. I won't name our server (giving grace) but he was not the best. We had to ask other servers for things we had already asked him for and he was very slow to check on us. He treated most of his tables like that. However, I will say that CAET appears to be fully staffed and the majority of them we encountered were good. It was a little dark in there but that's the atmosphere of the restaurant. I was with a friend so it didn't help us at all since it was so dark lol. CAET is my go-to for special occasions but I saw a few things on the menu that make me want to add it to my regular rotation. read more

I used to love this restaurant, but a lot has changed recently. I ordered a salad to go with the dressing on the side, but it was served at the table already mixed. After I pointed out what I had ordered, they simply scooped the mixed salad into a to‑go box. By the time I got home, it was soggy and unappetizing. The service by the staff was prompt and courteous and our server gave recommendations about specials and restaurant favorites for us to try as a few in our party were visiting the restaurant for the first time. I had the featured redfish entree for the evening but did not enjoy because the fish lacked flavor. I was most impressed by the appetizers which are large in portion size. I would have had them as an entree if I knew the portion sizes. The catfish appetizer was amazing and delicious; seasoned well with a hint of spice and crispy. The grilled toast was great and we really enjoyed the Rockefeller oysters. All the appetizers are shareable if you have a larger party. There is an extensive wine list and featured cocktails. But, the place is no secret...I was there twice last week and passed both times. There's no hiding great food and great service. Service was good. Ribeye was perfectly cooked and the sauce it came in was good. The Brussel sprouts were a little overly salty. We also ordered the NOLA spicy shrimp and grits which were delicious. The sauce was on point. I didn't know what to drink so our waiter recommended a pomegranate martini and I ended with an express martini. Both were made well. The old fashion feedback was delicious. The table next to us got the chocolate peanut cake or something which they raved about but we were too full for dessert. Would definitely return. Service was quick (well I was there at 4:30 on the dot) seating was quick and the waiter Keith was superb. I ordered crab claws which were delicious and well seasoned with a large serving. I tried the truffle fries and let's just saw, I will no longer eat regular fries and use ketchup again. The taste was like heaven if heaven had a taste. The oysters I picked were the Pink Moon and Eel Lake. Best believe, Pink Moon oysters will seduce your taste buds! It has salt, creaminess, and pleasant mineral finish that was perfect. The Eel lakes did not disappoint either! They were plump with a slight crunchy texture and a distinct grassy finish. I started with only one of each and quickly reordered a half dozen. The drink of choice was a beautiful Brightside. I don't remember what all makes this wonderful libation but it's really refreshing. A top 3 dining experience in the Jackson area. We were celebrating Valentine's a day early and had a reservation for 6:30 for two. We were seated at 6:45 which was fine considering the restaurant was slammed. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. We sat at the front of the house at a beautiful wooden table that was accented by the dark warm wooden tones across the entire front of the restaurant. Props for having the wine cellar in view of the dining room. The food was phenomenal. I can't describe everything that we ate, but I'll include the list. Ultimate BLT Wedge, Crispy Lobster Rolls, Zucchini Fries, Broiled Oysters, Everything-Crusted Tuna, Wood-Grilled Filet, White Truffle Risotto, Praline Crunch Bread Pudding (10/10), House Made Reese's Ice Cream. The bread pudding blew both of us away. It was rich and sweet with the perfect mixture of salt and crunch from the praline pieces. The combination of flavors was on par with some of the more exciting restaurants like Elvies. The cook on the proteins was on par with the top steakhouses in the area. All-in-all our meal came up to only $230. Definitely got more food for our money than other high-end restaurants. Also shout out to our server Adele. He was a fly on the wall and was the perfect example of top tier customer service. He never let our drinks empty, kept track how we were progressing through meals to time when he would take more orders, and checked to make sure everything was good. We felt very attended to yet had minimal interruptions so that we could have a quiet and intimate meal. CAET blew me away and easily earns a top food spot that we will have to return to. read more

First time for Friday evening dinner at Caet. I had the 10 oz filet, my wife had redfish Anna. Steak was well cooked, tender and full of flavor, potato mash was full of flavor and large chunks of bacon, asparagus was perfectly cooked. My wife's redfish was well prepared and tasty on top of a garlic potato mash that she loved. Our server Adele was helpful and attentive without hovering. We also tried appetizers, small charcuterie board (very good), Murder Pointe raw oysters ( very tasty,if a little on the small side). The meal was well presented, attractive and hot. My wife tried the Crème brûlée and said it was extremely good. Meal was a little on the pricey side but well worth it to us. Restaurant was clean and quiet enough, actually very comfortable, but we were there at 4:45 so it was an early dinner. We definitely will try again, probably for a special occasion. I definitely recommended Caet, give them a try, I think you will find them accommodating and worth the effort. read more

I have been there a lot and always loved it. But this time was different. I don't know if chef or manager changed, but food was not up to previous level. And when I complained about my dish they didn't offer to give me something different. They just said that they didn't see anything wrong. A restaurant on that level doesn't handle things that way. "It's not us, it must be you!" Prior to I have sung their praises, but after this experience I have nothing but contempt. If I'm willing to pay 2-3 hundred dollars for dinner I expect to treated as a valued customer. Not the case so they don't have to worry about my money again. I will no longer visit them.
