If I could give 0 stars, I would for disrespect, awful service, and unprofessional conduct. I was really looking forward to trying Pelicana Chicken, but this was honestly one of the rudest and WORST dining experiences I've ever had. :( What made it extremely disappointing was the service. Our waitress (who was short, had dyed hair, and wore glasses) messed up our order THREE SEPARATE TIMES. Mistakes happen, I get it, but how it was handled was completely unacceptable. We ordered rose tteokbokki (which was very bland, by the way), cheese balls, a half order of padak (which was missing the main ingredient aka green onions), and a half order of hot spicy sweet chicken with hot spicy sweet sauce on the side rather than on the chicken (but the sauce wasn't on the side). We were able to ask to send the incorrectly made items back to the kitchen, but within a minute, the waitress came back SLAMMING the wrong order back down on the table. Instead of simply fixing her mistakes, she doubled down and started gaslighting my friends, insisting that this was exactly what we ordered. We tried to explain, but she just kept cutting us off, rolling her eyes, and even went as far as to completely ignore us for the rest of the meal. When we needed the bill, we had to get up and ask for it ourselves... only to find out we were charged for food we never received. The way she spoke to us was so disrespectful, I was honestly shocked! The name on my receipt shows "Misheel", whether this was the waitress, manager, or someone else, disciplinary action is definitely needed. This experience was way too upsetting not to share. Was really excited to try this place because I heard it's super famous in Korea. Sadly, I doubt it is the same experience as the motherland. My Soy Garlic wings had a very strange bourbon after taste to it... did not taste very Korean to me. You should taste the soy, you should taste the garlic, but that was not the case. My order also took forever to come out. To add insult to injury, I was charged for an extra beer. Service was so lethargic; not attentive at all. Came here with a friend to try out Pelicana Chicken. While the place is kinda small, I think this place would be great to go with a group of friends. We were sat and our orders were taken after a few minutes of checking out what the menu had to offer. They also had some promotion for freebies for Honkai Star Rail ( a online game ) so for a limited time until March ( of this writing ), check it out! I got White Snowing wings that is just consisting of fried chicken cooked to perfection with camembert white cheese power on top. I think I got like 6 pieces for half; it was really good but I do not think it's worth the price. Was it good? Yes, I would say it's delicious but not near $20 bucks delicious. If you plan to go here, probably get fried wings with a sauce of your choice. It's much better value wise unless you like the sauce. It seems like the specialty chicken is about close to $20 bucks so consider that before making a decision. Otherwise, there was a happy hour for beer and so I couldn't say no to a mug filled with Sapporo beer. It's one beer I could not pass up on! Next time I'll try out another wing that isn't pricey. I ordered takeout from Pelicana Chicken. I've been to other restaurants in the area, so I figure I'd try this spot out. I ordered the Spicy Soy Garlic (boneless thighs), Pa-Dak, and Chicken Fried Rice. (See pictures.) The Chicken Fried Rice was disappointing. At almost $14, expected more. It lacked seasoning; it was bland. I wish they either used more soy sauce or even added salt. I ended up adding salt and drizzling in sesame oil to help things out. Also, the boneless chicken breast in the rice were very dry. I do believe the texture, temperature, and ingredient ratio were perfect, but not enough to save this dish. The Pa-Dak is typically served with a soy-mustard drizzle and scallions. I found the chicken well seasoned, but overcooked, even the dark meat was dry. The scallions were fresh, however the sauce lacked balance, with little soy flavour and tasting almost entirely of horseradish. The Spicy Soy Garlic wings were incredible. They were perfectly seasoned, extra crispy, and juicy. You could taste the ginger and garlic in the chicken. Lastly, the staff was really nice. They were helpful when I had questions and generally very warm in our exchanges. I'd come back here, but stick to the boneless thighs. Absolutely terrible. I came here due to my friend's recommendation; however, it was tasteless food, and even worse service. The female Chinese servers were some of the rudest people I've ever met. They made a mistake in our order, so we asked for it to be fixed. Easy enough right? The server brings it back and starts to blame us for it on 3 different occasions. Amazing food the wings were crispy and saucy, the kimchi bulgogi fries were so hot and delicious, the Korean black ramen lacked a bit of flavor I'd say but the deep fried cheese balls made up for it. 10/10 service and it's all Halal. Definitely add this place on your next try list. read more

Despite this, she is CRISPY and the sauce pairs nicely. Crispy Chicken is CRISPY and TENDER. but we're still looking for seasoning because that shit isn't anywhere to be found. This Is Confusing. I really wanted to enjoy my experience at Pelicana to support a local Korean Fried Chicken place. But unfortunately, the two dishes I ordered both left me a bit disappointed, albeit in different ways. The cheese Tteokbokki tasted fine. Although I really don't think that a dish like this should cost more than $15. I think my cut off would be around $13.99 at most given there are no toppings other than what you pay for. The taste is good though. As for the chicken, we waited the expected amount of time and there was only one other table in the restaurant. But for some reason, it came out cold, which was surprising since it did not necessarily taste old. So it was perplexing as if it were sitting on top of a fridge and I was left confused. This place is huge!!! I spoke with the owner who also runs the Annandale Location and he's got big plans for this spot. The event space is huge and easily adaptable to parties of all sizes. Tables and chairs can be moved around to allow more open space for Music events and Karaoke Nights! Live music here would be amazing so come and check the place out!!! Got the Original Sweet Spicy Chicken (half) and it was not bad (fried chicken is always good). However, for a half chicken for 17 dollars, is quite a bit for not a lot of chicken... Everytime we pass by The Block, we see Pelicana but one night I really wanted some chicken and we went on a Friday night at around 10pm. Lots of people were there for drinks but the chicken really did it for us. The cheese dust was uhh-mazing. I highly recommend over many other korean chicken chains. read more

We have ordered carryout from this restaurant many times over the past couple of years. We always get an order of crispy chicken wings with honey mustard, BBQ or both sauces. The wings have always been delicious along with the sauces and the wings are a large size. Well today, 04/28/24 I ordered the same order as always with the honey mustard sauce. We get the wings home and the wings are smaller and the honey mustard sauce they gave us was completely different. The normal sauce is a bright yellow with a smooth sweet honey taste which is the type you would typically get on wings from anywhere. The sauce they gave us was a different color, grainy, and looked more like brown mustard with a tangy taste, not something you would put on wings as a sauce, it was not good at all. When my wife picked the food up, she said the inside of the restaurant looked as if they remodeled so maybe the restaurant changed owners and the food has changed. Well, the changes are not good ones. Most likely won't order from here again. read more

We ordered online. I don't know if they changed their ordering system but even though I'd ordered online before I had to make an account to order this time around. Also, when you order online you cannot select a time for it to be ready by. That would be a nice feature to add. And if you call in you can't collect points. So I set an alarm and placed my order when the alarm went off. My friend was able to pick up the order without any issues (I gave her all the order information). What we got: Crispy Chicken (whole, boneless breast, sweet spicy chicken) - 3.5/4* The sauce was amazing. It definitely had a kick to it. I think next time I do a crispy chicken I'll order the thigh. I felt the breast was a bit stringy and tough at times and I know thigh is harder to overcook than breast. I should've gone with my gut on that one. Garlic Chicken (half, boneless thigh, garlic) - 5* the sauce was sooooo good. I think I might have moaned after my first bite. What can I say, they know how to use their garlic. A very solid Korean fried chicken place in Annandale, VA! I was craving some Korean fried chicken and we stumbled upon this place. I would definitely go again if I'm in the area. I got the bulgogi rice bowl and I had never found a good rice bowl until now. They have a variety of rice bowls (the kimchi fried rice sounded the most appealing rice bowl) but I opted for Bulgogi Rice Bowl. A good portion of food for each aspect of the bowl - the rice, meat, and vegetables. It was very filling to say the least and we still had the chicken! The chicken was great! I got rage "Half Crispy Fried Chicken" with pelicana special sauce. Their menu has 2 options, original and crispy - almost sounds like KFC and it's worth to get the crispy. The bite in the skin as you hear the crunch sound - very worth. Came here on a Saturday, around 8pm-ish. When we fit there...there were still seats available. But about 10-15 min after it was packed with no place to sit besides the bar. They have about 11 seating areas--so it's a small place. Located in Annandale, near the block. Heard great things so I wanted to give it a try. Sweet potato fries were great! They were inspired by korean street food and made very thin. The only thing is...they should all be crispy but some were soggy...so it wasn't the best ($7). Stella draft was alright. Better draft than bbq Chicken and Beer in Centreville ($8). 8 Crispy Chicken Wings with Original Pelicana-Mild sauce on the side ($12 + $2) -Came was with radishes to help with the greasiness. -The wings were great! I would've gotten them without the sauce if I'd known bc it has some seasoning already and the sauce was an extra $2....which I think was bazaar. But the wings were crispy and yummy! This is based on two great experiences. The first I went with my girlfriend and we ordered just wings with the hot Pelicana sauce. It was absolutely delicious and reminded me so much of the chicken back home in Korea. I wish they asked if we wanted the sauce poured, as we only got sauce on the side. The radish is fresh and crispy and complements the chicken very well. The second time was with a co-worker who knows absolutely jack about Korean chicken and had never tried Bon Chon. He was flabbergasted at not only the quality but the flavor of the sauces - he said it didn't compare with the American wings, not even close. We had the whole chicken with Hot Pelicana and White Cheese. This time, the sauce was poured on top (they asked us). We also had the corn cheese for app, and it was okay, nothing too special here. And before anyone says white is dry, yes, but if cooked right, it can also be juicy. I will say that the dark meat pieces were juicier. We also got a whole chicken and not the wings. Perhaps take the chicken out a minute or two earlier than expected? Sides (pickled radish and a really tiny salad with dressing) that came with the chicken were on point. I've been here before years ago but I really have no recollection of the place so wanted to come here again for some Korean fried chicken... this place is so underrated for fried chicken! I got the crunchy fried chicken, size was half and it was bone-in. I got it with white cheese tossed in already, which came with some radish. It took a very long time to come out I think; I know the menu had a note saying it would be about 20-25 min for the chicken to come out, but it felt very long. But once they served the food, it was totally worth it! The portion sizes for $14 (+$3 for adding the white cheese sauce/flavouring, there's an extra charge for sauces) is so much, it's definitely half of a whole chicken. I'm used to somewhat smaller portions at other popular Korean fried chicken places, so this was super generous in my eyes. The fried chicken was very crunchy on the outside and tasty on the inside. The white cheddar was a perfect pairing with the fried crust - cheesy tasting but had a kick to it. I had to save two pieces of chicken for later because it was just all so filling. I was also able to try their signature sauce too and it was both spicy and sweet - it was delicious! The waiter was also extremely nice, getting us water, a bucket for our bones, more napkins, wipes for our hands, and answering all of our questions. Surprised it was basically empty here during dinnertime on a Sunday night. I think this is my new favourite Korean fried chicken place now - it's very worth it for the price they have and the portions of the chicken they have!
