SHAVED ICE HEAVEN! I was so excited to see that they opened back up for the season. I love the large variety of flavors! I couldn't decide what to get. I ended up getting half Birthday Cake and half Strawberry Cheesecake with cream on top. I loved the strawberry cheesecake flavor!!!! They have a large selection of specialty options if you want something with extra pizzazz and don't want to come up with your own combination. The shaved ice itself is so soft, and they load them up with flavor so that the flavor gets all the way down onto all of the ice! This reminds me of Bahama Bucks but better, since they have so many more flavors!

On my drive back to Asheville from Fletcher, NC, my daughter insisted we stop at Pelican's for a Snoball. I reluctantly agreed, and would not have forgiven myself if I didn't. These snow cones were nothing like the hard, ice chip ones I grew up with in NYC Pelican's Snoballs are made with what feels like freshly fallen, powdery white snow. These have to be the BEST snow cones for miles. I tried the Orange Creamsicle, and the hubby and daughter had the Coconut flavors. Delicious. If you find yourself in the area, make a quick stop. You won't regret it!

Pelicans is killin' it with their shaved ice! Remember the lacerations on the roof of your mouth after eating one of those convenience store Icees? Kiss those days goodbye - this stuff eats SMOOOOTH. They've got a bazillion flavors. I've tried the Coke float and the mango with marshmallow (in addition to a little of everybody else's) and everything was slappin'.

Yes to the flavor selection. Yes to the size! I had the large and it was so big! They really know what they are doing when they add the flavors. Mine was loaded with color and delcious condensed milk all the way through. They have so many variations that you could easily go all summer without having the same thing twice. Some of the flavors had me curious while others sounded quite disgusting. It takes a special type of person to order fireball shaved ice. The seating is all outside on picnic tables. I'm sure as it gets busy, seating is hard to come by. I took a star for there heavy use of styrofoam. It is due time that business owners start doing more to help the Earth. It would be reason enough for many people including myself to not come back. Other than that, yummy!

So YUMMY! What amazing ice and what amazing flavors! The snow was nice soft and delicious! I can't wait to try new flavors and see what else they have next time I go! The girls working were very helpful and the sitting area was nice and clean!

We just happened to drive past this place during our first day in Asheville. It was very close to our Airbnb. I saw the word Snoballs and immediately exclaimed to the Fella that we NEEDED TO GO TO THERE! So we put it in our plans. So late in the afternoon when we were hot, hungry, and on the way back to the Airbnb for a rest and shower before going back out, we pulled in to Pelican's for a sweet treat! It doesn't look like much. A shack with a ramp for the line, some out door seating, a deceptively large parking lot, and a lil' gazebo. There is no indoor seating. But a peek inside through the windows while ordering and waiting for our snoballs, shows a clever use a space and existing building! It is obvious that this was initially a gas station/convenience store! There are coolers along the back wall, good for keeping cold toppings cold and ice blocks....icy. Some shelving in the middle of the store provides ample storage for cups and bottles of syrupy flavoring goodness! And where one assumes pumps might have once been lives the covered seating area. They also have some cornhole set up for playing! We walked up behind a couple families ordering several snoballs. That gave us plenty of time to peruse the list of OVER 100 FLAVORS!! Overwhelming in the best way! I am susceptible to some advertising, which includes my decision to get the Butterfly Kiss they had a special sign for. It is birthday cake and cotton candy flavors with a butterfly gummy! All of those things sound amazing! I ordered a small, but I think was given a regular (as well as being charged for a larger size), but it was hot enough that I was happy to eat the unexpected extra. Initially I thought they had skipped the gummy. That they just decided that a 32-year-old woman doesn't need her snoball to be cute-sied up. I was a little disappointed, but still happy to eat my delicious, soft, cold treat. But to my surprise! They put the gummy in the middle of the snoball, buried in the treat well inside the cup! A fun treasure, to be sure, but then the gummy is frozen and rock hard and difficult to eat. I was unable to bite it in half and spent a good several minutes gnawing on the giant frozen gummy candy. It's no SnoWhat....my favorite sweet treat in my home 'Ville and the first to introduce snoballs to me. But it is really gooood. I wanted to return every single day we were there! But unfortunately...time and money run out :-P I would recommend a visit to anyone!

I have frequently visited and enjoyed Pelican since I discovered them last summer and it has always been super yummy - tonight however, I am a bit disappointed! The yummy fluff and lightness is missing. The ice is packed in way too tight and it is more like a snow cone that I mightn't get at any other snow cone stand! Haven't been disappointed until tonight :/

Definitely need to check this place out.

LOTS OF FLAVORS! Reasonable prices also, considering the size you receive. If I go back, probably only need the kids size.

We requested a full vegan menu with 4 courses and passed appetizers during cocktail hour for 30 people. And wow did they deliver! I am having guests ask me for their recipes and some saying they would consider going vegan if all their meals tasted like this. Our main goal was to serve vegan food to meat eaters and have them not miss the meat. My husband and I could not be more pleased with the way the food turned out. It was a complete success. The service is unmatched. Judy took care of everything and helped with the details that I never would've thought of. I've never planned a wedding before, so it was SO helpful to have her ask more questions ahead of time in order to make sure everything went smoothly. I loved her communication, cheerfulness, and genuine love for what she does. Their serving staff was friendly, helpful, and had a sense of urgency when they were asked for anything. They were engaged in what they were doing and they seemed happy to be serving us. There isn't a thing I would change about the way Chef Michael's Catering handled our wedding reception. They truly contributed a large part to the happiest night of our lives and I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to work with them.
