Tastee Freez is like a little slice of Americana, and it never disappoints. My go-to is the blueberry shake, chocked full of luscious berries and oh-so refreshing when the heat picks up. Service is always friendly and fast. New this season are small warm cakes, served with ice cream, whipped cream and flavor drizzles. I tried the hot caramel cake last time - it was Tastee indeed, sort-of like an Americanized version of sticky toffee puddin People define the end of summer in different ways - for me, when Tastee Freez shutters up for the season around mid-October, well that's the final nail in summer's coffin, and it's a sad, sad day indeed. Piss poor attitudes from the ladies tonight. When asked to make a chocolate peanut butter sundae we were greeted by what what did she say when they just walked and made some big sloppy mess if an ice cream. We've been here multiple times and I was trying to just give them the credit of having a bad day but no.... The attitude from these ladies is just unacceptable. Sitting there on your phone while someone is at your window.... Why not spark a conversation with the customer rather than sparking one on your phone. They looked at us as if we were stupid. I have loved this place for a few decades. Before being "The freeze" it was Tastee Freeze. Same great service and food. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I think even the smallest of towns have had something similar to this Tastee Freeze over the years, it's building may have been abandoned or repurposed by now as the mom and pop operations entered it second or third generation or the branded ice cream stores have opened with their new fandango twist on something as old as ice cream, ice creams probably began around 500 BC in the Achaemenid Empire (Persia) I'm sure it was a much different take on the product we ate as a kid and even more different than today's novelties with the advancement in refrigeration that allows creativity that is only limited by one's imagination. This little shop looked closed from the street as I drove by, but at the last minute I did see a car appear down the side of the building where apparently the drive-up window is, so I flipped a U-ey like any good Floridian would do and whipped the Fiat into a space right out front. Like most of the old fashioned ice cream shops the entire front window was plastered with placards of the treats offered here and there were piles of bananas ripening in the glass below the advertisements. I tend to stick to the basics when it comes to ice cream so a cup of the vanilla soft serve suited me fine. Like most shops of this nature the young employees didn't seem to be overly motivated but they were polite and got the product to me and I left a generous tip to their astonishment. Had never been to a Tastee Freeze before since they aren't located anywhere I've ever lived. Accidentally passed it while in Ashville and had to go! We went through the drive thru which was slow, but we weren't in a hurry. We each for the nachos supreme which were a GIGANTIC portion. We should have spit one. These nachos were really loaded down. Then I had the hot fudge cake, and it was the bomb! Yes! Yes! Yes! Run don't walk. Go now. You'll be fat and happy, which is what summer is all about. read more

This place is SOo good, my 5 year old son got a milkshake from here and he really lik it,, he loves the taste and the smell and he likes the smell and he doesn't even like the taste but I don't think it's the best taste for me to eat at all but it was a great treat to get him a drink with his family at his place in town for the first day in the new place I live and I was there a couple years back when I went there for the last year! read more

I visit from time to time mostly because it's on my way home. I've never been disappointed with my food or treats, other than the price. I always expect to wait, but even when there are lots of guests the line usually moves pretty fast. The service is always friendly and since you order directly from the person preparing your order, there is little room for error. I usually go for a sundae, but I've tried their hot dogs and nachos as well (both are good). I'm always pleased with my sundaes, but that's a hard thing to screw up. My husband likes the hot fudge cake a lot. They don't skimp on the portions either. I will say you get your money's worth, but it wouldn't hurt to have lower prices. My hot fudge sundae with nuts and cherries runs me $4.25 which isn't that bad I guess, but I'd rather not have to pay $0.75 for nuts! They charge for any additions you make which is understandable, but it would be nice if sprinkles didn't cost extra. One older review said they don't accept credit cards, but they do. Maybe it's a new thing. There is a $5 minimum, but as I mentioned, it's not hard to rack up a $5 order! The best part about this place is the HUGE menu. They really do offer a large selection of ice cream and tasty treats as well as hot menu items. It's hard to choose sometimes! They are only open March-August so you gotta get your fix before they close for winter! Overall, I enjoy coming here. The quality of their indulgent treats meets my expectations. Okay so I don't live far from Tastee Freeze and I SWEAR since it's opened back up for the season, that place has been POPPIN. So I look it up on Yelp and looked at the online site and one day I decided, enough was ENOUGH. I had to figure out what all the hub-bub was about!! Okay so fiiiiirrrrrst things first, don't bother going to their website. I was told at the window that this Tastee Freeze is locally owned, not corporate. I was hoping to get a chicken sandwich with bacon and guac and was very disappointed. Which brings me to my second point- don't go here for a meal. They have hot dogs and a BBQ sandwich, but I found out that you go here for dessert. They have quite a selection of desserts though! Everything from soft-serve sundaes to milk/malt shakes to their coined "freezees", which remind of a DQ Blizzard. As a matter of fact, the whole place kind of reminds me of a small town version of Dairy Queen. I ended up ordering a chocolate maraschino and a hot fudge cake (with butterscotch!) freezee and thought it was pretty tasty, and the girl working the window was very nice. But my oh my, did I have to wait. And once you're in line, there's no backing out. I mean, like literally. Would I go back? Eh, maybe? I feel like my itch is scratched and that there are so many other unique places to choose from for dessert- but I might just have to for a pineapple upside down sundae that's caught my eye! ;) read more

Parking/standing in line isn't ideal here at the tasty freeze. It's very popular so don't think care about how long it takes. I do like that they give you a free "pup cup" when you bring your dog. It's a little paper container with a little bit of ice cream and two little dog biscuits. The people food we got wasn't that great. My mom had the strawberry shortcake and the strawberries were mushy. I had the mini banana split, which was still HUGE and the strawberries were mushy in that too. I liked that they asked me if I wanted nuts and coconut on top. There was some kind of yellow liquid at the bottom... No idea lol somewhere halfway through I decided it wasn't worth it and tossed the rest. read more
