Came to visit during quarantine for some social distance hang out and snow cones. I shall preface by saying I love Hawaiian shave ice. I ordered a regular dreamsicle flavored and the portion was fine. The girls (3&5) both wanted grape so they let us split a regular into 2 small cups since it was $1.50 cheaper than buying two kid cups and a little less because tiny humans don't need that much sugar anyway. My kids both did not finish it. My husband got banana and Georgia peach with a gummy worm (literally 1 gets put on top for your topping). He thought it was too sweet for him and ate about half. I was happy with the flavor of mine. I personally prefer my shave ice to be as fine as it possibly can be. This was decently shaved/on the smaller side as far as shaved ice goes but not as fine as I've had it. I gave them 4 stars since it was a little sweet for our family, if you like it super sweet then this would probably be 5 stars for you. The portions were fine for the price a though we would not do toppings next time since you don't get much. The service was quick and polite. read more

We drive by Pelican's almost every day, and always say "we should try that place sometime!" I'm so glad we finally did... SnoBalls were a huge hit with the adults and kids. I was anticipating snow cones like those sold at carnivals (i.e. ice rocks flavored with rainbow sugar water lol). I was way off! Not only does Pelican's offer tons of unique flavors, the kids specialty SnoBalls have fun extras like whipped cream and gummy animals. Needless to say, the kiddos were blown away. I took my step-son to Pelican's SnoBalls one Sunday afternoon when the summer heat was starting to return on the regular. I have to admit: I wanted the Dill Pickle flavor but couldn't quite grasp the concept of a sour sweet icy treat, so I took the safer Dreamsicle option. The boy got Butterscotch with some cream on top which is a SnoBall option I never expected. A cute little place for dessert on Kingston Pike. HUGE amount of flavors you can select from. Lots of sweet and fruity flavors with some questionable flavors such as toothpaste (which I heard isn't as bad as you think!) if you're ever feeling indecisive, you could always spin the wheel which is super fun for the kids. There's also a variety of toppings you can add such as gummy snacks. My favorite is the mango-strawberry stuffed (meaning a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle). The ice is soft and the syrup is not overpoweringly sweet. The outdoor seating area with umbrellas has plenty of space & seats overlooking kingston pike. Workers are always very kind and helpful. Parking is very limited though which is the worst downfall about this place. Other than that, great place to get a cool treat for the day with your friends and family! read more

I was so excited to finally give this place a try b/c I've passed by it at least once a week before it opened. I'm glad I did! I already give it a couple of points because the building is blue. How cool is that? Anywho, we get up to the window, and there is a large, easy-to-read board that gives you prices and what they offer. There's a large array of flavor options. You are bound to like at least one. The prices are fair. A regular size is $3. I got the strawberry lemonade, and my boyfriend got blue raspberry. The snoballs are piled a little high above the rim of the cups. My strawberry lemonade tasted more like a normal fruit punch, but it was still very good! My boyfriend isn't a big fan of slushes/snoballs, but he says his blue raspberry was "Good! A little sweet, but it was good." Overall, our snoballs were good! Give this place a try! Wayyyyyyy too sweet for me. My snowcone needed about 1/8 of the syrup they put in there. The texture of the ice would have been great if it weren't so doused in syrup. If I go back ever I'll request for them to go super light on the syrup. read more

Ok, I have to be honest...when I saw this place, I kinda rolled my eyes. A Snoball place? Really? But it's summer and my inner child was screamy for a sugar rush and I thought, 'why not?!' Apparently so did half of Knoxville and they all seemed to know something that I didn't because there were plenty of repeat customers in line waiting eagerly for their Pelican's SnoBall. The line moved pretty quickly and I was overwhelmed when I got up to the menu board. I never imaged that I would be faced with so many flavors. I'm talking like a billion! And to decide if you want it creamy, or sprayed with sour stuff, or topped with gummy sharks. So many decisions. I felt the pressure building and just went with one of their pre-made concoctions. I saw my snoball through the window as they handed it to me and I knew it was love at first sight. The cup was overflowing with blue icy goodness. For $3, this was a serious score. The real test came from the first bite and I was not disappointed. The ice was shaved finely and was super creamy and smooth. It was sweet and yummy. Side note: Because healthy decisions are always at the top of your head when ordering a snoball, take comfort in knowing that their syrups are high fructose corn syrup free.
