    Tofu laab

My family and I visited this restaurant as we were passing through the Knoxville area on a long road trip. It lived up to the hype on Yelp and other ratings sites. It has creative Thai dishes that cater to (White) American tastes. I opted for the tofu laab. I was a bit confused reading the menu title for this dish as this is the first time I ever saw it spelled as "laab" instead of "larb". I was hesitant to order it since I usually judge a Thai restaurant by its curry, but I thought it would be worth a try. It was just what I needed after two days of fast food and quick service food. The tofu was tasty but close to being unchewable due to a hard fry. I agree with other reviewers that you may want to ask for a lighter fry if you order any tofu dish from this restaurant. What made this dish stand out was the complex sauce -- fish sauce, herbs, etc. Combine that with some fresh veggies and hot peppers, and you have a party in your mouth. Pro tip: The cabbage leaf underneath is raw. Unless you really like cabbage, I wouldn't recommend trying to eat it. For my side dish, I ordered the Thai slaw. It was cool and refreshing. It cooled down my mouth just as much as some rice but had the lighter touch that I wanted for this meal.

I had always heard good things about Sticky Rice that I eventually succumbed to peer pressure and ordered their grandma fried rice, stir fry vegetables and sticky rice to go. Upon tasting the fried rice, I was instantly disappointed. I wondered whether the food I was eating was different from others' because there were a lot of rave reviews. Despite the failed first impression, I decided to give them another chance, guided by Reddit, and was pleasantly surprised. My next order was the fried chicken skin, lao sausage, and the crispy rice with sour pork sausage. The chicken skin was unbelievably crispy and flavorful, and the dipping sauce elevated the taste. The crispy rice with sour pork sausage was unique and combined all the ingredients that are dear to my heart! The lao sausage was also not too far behind in its taste, but I think sausages are just not my thing. Other items on the menu that I have tried include the wings, pork chops, and kow pek. Interestingly, the wings were not fried to my liking, but maybe I just chose the wrong flavor. The pork chops, while delicious, were scarily pink on one side (as pictured) and white on the other side. I was not exactly comfortable with that discrepancy, and so I reheated it to be safe. The kow pek was such a flavorful meal, even though it was dismantled for takeout purposes, that I cannot wait to have it in person. Overall, a solid restaurant with wonderful dishes that leave one itching to revisit!

Dinner with Sis. Friendly hostesses helped us get a table despite busy dinner time. Waitress was thorough and helped us decide what we would like. Highlight was the crispy chicken skins. So yummy and plentiful. Sis liked her pork chop but it was a little dry. Broth in my chicken noodle soup was very tasty but chicken was dry and lacked flavor. Prices were reasonable. We both bought the cute sticky rice baseball caps- very cute. Overall we had a good time, liked the food, and loved the hats!

To be honest, I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews. My family and I eat at a lot of authentic Thai restaurants (we are Asian). Overall, super disappointed with the food, which was surprising because the place was packed... I always order Pad Kee Mow and their Pad Kee Mow does not taste at all like Pad Kee Mow. I ordered it with Tofu and asked if the tofu is the Fried Tofu (super typical of restaurants... and means the tofu is still soft but the outside was lightly fried) and so they literally made it crispy like a crouton?? Not enjoyable to eat. Noodles weren't the right kind of wide flat noodles and maybe thats because this place is a fusion? I could've made this dish and I can't cook Thai food - that's how far off it was... We also got Crab Rangoons (if this was just titled as cream cheese - then it would've been like one star better but it just tasted like one you get from the frozen section of an Asian grocery store. Nothing special) Mom got beef fried rice and it looked good but tasted very plain for the seasoning. They don't add veggies unless you pay to add veggies by the way. Brother got this pork chop which he said was fine but this does not compare to getting something like Com Tam from a Vietnamese restaurant (again... it's a fusion? So I guess we should've expected it?) The best tasting thing was the green curry. A bit spicy (the restaurant only allows you to choose spicy or no spice) and even with that, my dad would give it a 2/5 maybe. The place was packed with White Americans and no hate because I'm dating one but perhaps we should've looked into reviews more. Wouldn't come back. Restaurant was pretty, albeit extremely loud. Server was very nice. Just wish the food was actually good.

Grandmas Fried NOODLES (veg) were just ok. Chicken Wings/ Chuenh Beek Gai (gf) were insanely good. Sticky Rice not pictured was amazing.

Get the garlic wings and the sticky rice. If I could do it again I would pass on the noodles. The wings and rice though??? Unreal. Thank me later.

To quote my husband "I'm so full but I can't stop eating because everything is so delicious" ! Food was amazing, super fresh and light, fried salmon bites were too die for, and the soup had just the right amount of spice (you can also request more coconut milk to tone down the spice). we loved that they didn't hold back on the seasonings and spices. 10/10 experience.

We wanted to try the fried chicken skin, but unfortunately they were already out by lunchtime. Grandmas fried noodles: very good and tasted very homemade. Unfortunately a bit too salty. Brisket was tender and paired well with the noodles Laos Sausage: came with some very fragrant sticky rice. The sausage was very unique and tasted like a bundle of curry. Was recently spicy! The restaurant is always extremely busy... for both lunch and dinner, even on weekdays. The staff seemed very rushed, but they did their best to check up on us. A good amount of seating, indoor only.

Visiting Knoxville and this place is a hit! It was busy, but service was excellent! Fast, nice and friendly. Food was delicious. Flavorful and packed with a punch. A little on the spicy side. Clean and beautiful inside. A must if you are in Knoxville!!

The food here is sooooo good! All of it! The spring rolls - great, the egg drop soup - great, the phorito -great. It's all very fresh, the broth is the best I've ever had, the service is great too. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Server was nothing short of amazing. It was my first time here and he helped me decide on a couple entrees. Food has large portions and tasted delicious. It was a small little place but I felt like they took pride in the experience and meals. Oh they also have boba which was just as good as the food! Nice little spot you gotta try.

I have lots of love for every aspect of sticky rice aside from its atmosphere. They moved to a newer and larger venue about a year ago which helped, but the restaurant is nearly always very loud and packed. However, the food makes it worth it! My personal favorite is the tofu laab (beware: it is very spicy). The portion sizes are super fulfilling and I feel that it's very well priced. Typically I get takeout since it's always so busy and hard to hear people talk from the table. Lots of love!

The food was amazing, and our server was wonderful and brought plenty of sauces to sample and Try out with our appetizers. My noodles entree was delightful and I definitely will be coming here again! The restaurant itself is a little small so when they're busy it may be a wait/packed but overall the place is great!

I've been hearing about this place for a while and finally decided to give it a try while in the area. Glad I did! Makayla at the bar is a high speed blessing. Drinks always flowing, and hot food was promptly served. I LOVE crispy rice and the flavors in their dish excited my palate. Of course I had to try their sticky rice with mango. Simply delicious. I'm looking forward to trying most everything on their menu in the future.
