Jay and Andrew were professional, courteous, and very efficient while also paying attention to the little details, like post placement, to ensure the finished porch looked and functioned at its best. There is a reason we have been repeat customers with Care Free Homes and that is due to the quality of work you know you are getting out of every project they do. We could not recommend them enough if you are looking to have quality work done on your house.

We knew the game, add in lots of extras so he can spend hours at your home taking extras out to reduce the price to make it look like you're getting a deal. Even if they had come in with the best price we still would not have used then - if you can't trust the first point of contact to respect what you want then what confidence are you supposed to have with any of their team? Update: Sorry Stephanie but I have to disagree with your response. You are right in that we cancelled the follow up meeting - we were told we would receive a 'report' a couple of days after the initial meet - that didn't materialize so we asked to cancel the follow up and just get the quote. As for the add-ons - my husband SPECIFICALLY said we did not want gutters as ours were not that old - Alex added in new gutters, downspouts, leaf guards - why do that when you have been told we did not want them. It's not that difficult when a customer says 'I just want James Hardie Siding in Deep Ocean Blue and Artic White Trim to replace what we have now - measure it up and quote' - where in that conversation does it say 'but please go away and add in anything else you might like to see on our home? I appreciate as a company you have a system of how you do things with visits etc, however, it is not one size fits all - you still have to listen to the customer, and in this instance, your potential customer was ignored. We gave the exact same brief to 4 separate siding companies, yours was the only one that came back with a proposal that listed several things we specifically said we didn't want, or that were added in unnecessarily. This is an account of our experience with Care Free Homes, so we will have to agree to disgree.

When I first used Couto (actually I used them 3 times for roof projects to where they replaced it…read moreall) I was very pleased with their service and workmanship. I was also impressed that they gave a 10 year warranty on their work. Unfortunately, when you need to call on them to honor their warranty things go badly very quickly. I was selling my house and as a part of that process the buyer's inspector got on the roof in May 2025. He took a picture of what was essentially a swimming pool on my roof. The water wasn't draining. Interestingly, Couto was already aware of the issue because they told me about it when they did the last roof job in March 2025. But despite me calling several times to see when they would fix the issue, they just put me off and never came. With the impending sale and the swimming pool on my flat roof, I called in for emergency assistance. They literally kept telling me they were coming out the next day for weeks. It took them a month to finally get around to dealing with my emergency, and that was after my almost daily calls, emails and text messages. I tried to get one of the Couto brothers to speak with me but apparently they couldn't be bothered with it. The moral to the story is they are great for initial work, but don't count on them to come through in a timely manner when you need them for warranty work.

The first thing they did was to hire a subcontractor for less than $ 8000. He proceeded to do a pretty shoddy job, not taking any meaningful protection against the lead. The quality of work performed was poor and I did not get much value as a result. I complained many times without any effect. For your own good, you should stay away from this business as frankly I felt they behaved dishonestly with me.

Wow... I truly can't even believe this page has 5 star reviews. We hired John in June to complete a…read morefull kitchen remodel in our very tiny kitchen after not liking our first choice. John had stated he was going to start July 7th which got pushed back until August 14th. (Cabinets were already delivered at this point). He did mention he'd be finishing up a few jobs, but by September 1st he was fully focused on our kitchen. First red flag was on day one when he brought over a friend of his (not insured or licensed) and we informed him we had 2 ring cameras in the front and the back of the house that recorded video and audio, but that didn't stop him from degrading my business, degrading how my husband looks & talking badly about the condition of our home. The things we heard from day one had me sick to my stomach. Fast forward, he stated "a month without a kitchen". We were given excuse after excuse, John never worked more than a 3 hour day.. he was always leaving early, coming up with excuses as to why he couldn't make it and even no called no showed on MANY occasions. He also stormed off our property on 2 separate occasions and never got back to us. We had a very anxious 5 year old dog who we had to find care for during these times and when he no called no showed I was left to pay for care when it wasn't needed. John took 6 months to complete this job, ending on January 14th (unfinished) which ruined thanksgiving and Christmas as he had tools and supplies stocked in our dining room for months. The painting could have been done better by my 3 month old dog, it was thrown on carelessly and dripped onto our brand new countertops, floor and baseboards. He was unable to install a simple key lock and told us we had to return the device and it took my husband two minutes to do it. We also installed the glass in the cabinets by ourselves, as well as the shelves in two separate cabinets... when he was flipping our fridge to swing open the opposite way he dented our brand new $1500 fridge... there is scuffs and dings, on mostly all of the cabinets that were not there upon arrival. We had agreed to check in with each other every day at 5pm for the next days planning and that never happened, no responses... our kitchen and living room are next to each other and I would sit on the couch and he would stand in the doorway yapping my ear off for hours, just absolutely inappropriate behavior which could have gotten work done faster if he just stopped talking. I wouldn't hire this contractor again if he was the last contractor left on this earth. Save yourself the headache of unfilled promises and half-assed worked.
