I can honestly say that after working with Eleni for a few months we really got into a routine that works for my skin. Quite possibly the best facial I've ever received. Backstory: I found myself at the tail end of a few months that included: a ton of travel, a bit more stress than usual, a move from NYC, buying a house, getting engaged, my brother losing my dog momentarily while I was away, and a myriad of other circumstances that seemed a bit chaotic. Nothing negative, just a lot to process! So one day I woke up and looked like a HOT MESS. Dry, scaly patches on my forehead and cheeks, clogged pores, dehydrated skin, dull, lifeless, no palor. No rosy cheeks to be found. Shit needed to get straightened and QUICKLY. I perused Yelp, saw the great reviews for Pelle Sana plus the Yelp Deal ($25 for $50), so I emailed right away and she was able to get me in for an appointment that night (she had a cancellation). I was elated. She was also thrilled I bought the deal, which is really appreciated because sometimes businesses act like you are being cheap when you buy one. Not Kristin at Pelle Sana, she seemed genuinely pleased that I found her through Yelp and was going to use the deal. Things were already starting on the right...face. I opted for "The Core Treatment," which is a 75 minute facial for $105.00. Description: This deep cleansing treatment addresses individual skin conditions resulting in healthier skin. The service consists of a professional consultation, cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, extractions, skin specific massage, masque, eye treatment and home product prescription. YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU. I arrived at my appointment time to Kristin's one-room studio in Lincoln Park and instantly felt at ease. This girl was going to solve this visage of chaos, I could tell. We quickly talked about my skin, then she got me all setup in the quiet, just warm enough room...ahhhhh, better already. And 75 minutes later: fresh-faced and feeling much better. Steaming, masking, extracting, massaging, hydrating, sluffing and fluffing. I picked up a few Dermalogica products (this is what she uses exclusively, and sells retail) including a daily microfoliant powder and a red-reducing serum that can be used daily. Both have been fit into my daily routine and my face looks much better. *key point: while you are relaxing with a mask or steam, you get MASSAGES. Good ones. Great ones. She doesn't just check out while you are waiting for the mask to get done, she works on knots in your back/neck/shoulders. It's really quite excellent and sets her apart from the rest. Now, if I could just take care of this "SO PALE" thing, I'd be in excellent shape ;) Seriously, best facial I've had...ever. Buy the deal, try it out, I have a feeling you'll be a lifer. I have been going to Pelle Sana since November 2008 every 8 weeks to see Kristin. I have gotten many facials before and never visited any of those places twice. I have been returning to Pelle Sana over and over again. Kristin isn't interested in putting a ton of product for the sake of product on my skin but concentrates on my skin's specific needs - clearing and brightening. Every time I go, she makes sure my skin's needs are met. I like how Kristin approaches me as a knowledgeable dermatologist in addition to the "out of this world" massages and relaxation techniques. I use and LOVE dermalogica products and have never felt pressured to buy "10 step systems". My routine is easy, fast and is exactly what my skin needs!!!! Oh and my skin has never look THIS good! Edit: I'm giving another star as Kristin issued a refund, which was nice (although the only decent thing to do). I have mixed feelings about writing this review, hoping that perhaps my impression was off, mostly because I spent so much money that it's too depressing to think it was at least partly poorly spent. First off, let me just say that I'm not exactly a facial aficionado; I only get them about once a year during the summer when the oil gets to be too much and clogs up my pores. But, it's also not as though I've never gotten a facial before and have nothing to compare it to. The reason why I only get facials once a year is because previous estheticians were able to give results after the first facial that lasted a long time. My skin tends to be pretty good most of the time, until around August when the oil takes it up a notch, and I get a lot of oil build up/blackheads/etc. The positives: she never takes a break. She's there from start to finish. If a mask is on and she needs to leave it for a while, she'll give you a massage. That takes a lot of extra effort that other people just don't put into their work. However. Kristin is very sweet, but at the end of the day, what counts is my skin. (Actually, I should say, she acts sweet, but I can smell fake niceties a mile away. When I told her my Clarisonic broke after several years of use, she gave me major attitude, side-eye, and said "Hm....I have never heard of anyone's Clarisonic breaking...." Um, if it's a machine Kristin, it can break. Give me a f-ing break.) And I'm disappointed to say that, despite my high hopes (look at these reviews!), $200 later (treatment, tip, skin care purchase), I can't really tell I've gotten a facial...and my boy toy is making fun of the girl in me, spending vapid amounts of money for beauty that nobody notices. Womp, womp. Honestly, my skin has been getting worse since the facial and erupting a lot, something that doesn't usually happen to me...maybe I have an intolerance to something she used. I teared up during the extractions, she was really going in there, so I thought they'd be more effective - and I'm not doubting that she was able to get a lot of stuff out. God knows I've got a million and a half blackheads on my nose that I'm sure poured out like lava (sorry Kristin). So...I know my skin is still in better condition than it was when I came in. However, when I ran home to my mirror excited to see the oil build up around my chin finally emptied out, I was immediately able to see it. Still sitting there. Then I extracted the damage myself right then and there. And some more on my nose...and around my nose...and some on my cheeks..and my forehead. Um, really? If they're not that hard to get out, they shouldn't still be there after I've just gotten home from an expensive treatment. Not only that, but in the following days, I've experienced no glow, no compliments, no nothing. I've REALLY tried hard to be happy with what I got, trying not to be frustrated over the amount of money lost, but after spending so much, it's hard not to be disappointed...when the things you thought you were paying a pretty penny to get rid of are still very much there...and there aren't any *noticeable,* visible results anywhere else. I don't want to rag on a person that I'm sure worked hard during my facial regardless of the less-than-perfect results. I'd be willing to accept my skin being particularly difficult, or that maybe it takes more than one visit to get rid of all the congestion in my skin, if not for the fact that I was able to easily extract the things left behind myself upon returning home (I just usually like to leave it to a professional, as they can make sure it's done correctly and I don't scar)...or the fact that I once had a facial that got rid of everything in one visit after not having seen an esthetician for over ten years. Again, it's just summer oil build up; I don't have any big acne problems. And don't you just hate it when you go home, re-read the reviews, and find out other people got free stuff while you didn't? I know I do. Maybe next time I'll tell my esthetician I'm engaged. After various late night appointments, I'm beginning to think you should never schedule any treatment (facial, massage, haircut) after 4pm. Maybe they're all just tired by then and want you to get the hell out. I know I would. read more

I recently got my eyebrow microbladed at Pelle Sana by Eleni and am extremely happy with the results. It was a 2 part process since you get an initial procedure and then a touch up. I was very nervous about getting a semi permanent tattoo but she put my fears at ease! She explained everything that I'd need to do and outlined the brows so you can see the shape before hand. She also uses numbing cream which is helpful for the (mild-moderate) pain. When I came back to get the touch up, I was able to tell her where I wanted more or any changes. Once you're done, she also asks if you'd like anything else added in any places. She was very accommodating and was nice enough to allow me to text her as well if I had any issues or questions. To be completely honest, I didn't get the best impression when I first walked in. I didn't like that the door was locked, which wasn't welcoming. The place is small and the tiny bathroom at the end of the corridor was not that clean with a wet towel sitting on the shelf rather than hanging up. BUT ... Kristin gets 5 stars from me because as soon as my facial began, I was in heaven. Within seconds I was already feeling wonderful. I have to say it was the most pampering style of facial i've received. Most places put a masque on and then leave the room for 15 mins while it sets, or they put the steamer on and leave you for a while to give it time to work. What i liked about Kristin was she filled those waiting times with massages. I had 3 or 4 massages during the facial and each one was wonderful, she even worked on the knots in my neck, like a proper masseuse. Each time she started a massage i thought 'woohoo, i get another one!'. There was no time that i was left to 'wait' for any product to settle or absorb or anything. I also liked that she didn't try to make trivial conversation during the facial. I just wanted to relax and she let me lie there and enjoy it. Again, a proper pampering experience. She also didn't try to explain in detail every product she was using and every method she was performing. I know some folks like to learn about what they therapist is doing but i loved just lying there and being pampered so i was really appreciative that she let me do that. Then when it finished, she made me sit up and did a quick mini back facial for a minute or so, which was a lovely bonus and felt great. I told her at the very beginning i had no skin issues, i just wanted to pamper myself and it's obvious she listened and did exactly what i wanted. Go Kristin!! read more
