I was a major fan of Spaderma until my last few visits. I called months in advance to switch from 1 competing injectable back to another, which was reflected on my confirmation email. I was given the incorrect injectable, and was unaware until I was charged a pricey fee at the front desk. When I shared that was not what I expected to be treated with, the 3 people behind the front desk were stone faced and inconsiderate of the mistake. Unfortunately, the high prices and mistakes of this "luxury med spa" won't hold me as a customer. read more

Update: Obsessed with the ski better+ compact. Thank you Fallon for the recommendation. After my facial I've seen a huge improvement in the texture/acne on my face. Now I only use this compact on my face (in replace of my foundation) EVEN when I film videos. For anyone who works in film/photo as a makeup artist I shoot with LED Studio Lights and it does not cause a flashback whats so ever. I provided a picture from before the facial (side profile using full face of makeup) and an after photo (using only skin better and translucent powder). You can visibly see the acne before. In the after shot you can really see how effective the compact is even when under a lot of studio light where normally you need more foundation. This product really works better and it isn't even foundation lol it looks like your skin! read more

I went to SpaDerma for the first time at the end of January for laser hair removal. I followed the protocols, including not being in the sun for a month before the appointment. I was told I was too tan, I had taken a vacation over Christmas, and should come back in 2 weeks. I appreciated the honesty, didn't love the inconvenience and made an appointment for 2/14. Today I arrived at SpaDerma for my 10:15 appointment at 10:20. I waited my turn in line. Once the receptionist got to me it was 10:25. I was told that I missed my grace period and would need to be rescheduled. The grace period for my appointment is 5 minutes. I had to ask for that info btw. I didn't love that but understood and rebooked because I have a credit that I need to use. Then I was told there would be a $50 charge. I am highly annoyed. I shared with the receptionist that a 10:20 arrival should fall within that grace period. She said I walked in at 10:23. I checked my parking payment and I paid at 10:20, literally feet from the front entrance, while I was walking in. SpaDerma couldn't send more messages before your appointment via text and email. The messages say to call within 24 hours to cancel to avoid a $50-$150 cancellation fee. It does not say anything about being 5 minutes late and having to pay $50. It seems dishonest and unethical to over communicate but leave out an important detail like that. Moral of the story is, don't expect any sort of customer service from SpaDerma, better to go to a more reputable place like Elevare, up the street, that cares about their customers. read more

Really happy with my first service from Ilse. I used to go to the Lincoln Park location, but Lakeview is more convenient for me. I really appreciated that she listened to my concerns about not wanting a totally frozen face, which I have not always found to be respected by past service providers. She did a great job, minimal bruising, and was very friendly. I was also happy with her not feeling the need to aggressively push products on me. I hope to see her again in a few months. read more

I absolutely LOVE Spa Derma and Samantha Gelman as my laser specialist. I've had over 10 sessions with her and have an amazing experience every time. I was extremely scared at first (I don't do pain very well) but I was completely shocked that there is little to no pain at all. PLEASE take my word for it. Samantha is extremely comforting and is very easy to talk to, which really calmed my nerves. After the first treatment I could tell a difference from the laser treatment. Under the recommendation of my wife, I went to SpaDerma for my first ever facial treatment. I had never had done anything like this before and my wife had chosen for me a treatment called Laser Genesis. I went to SpaDerma and was greeted warmly by the front desk person. After filling out a simple form or two on an iPad, I waited. A few minutes later, Sarah came out to bring me back for my treatment. She was warm and friendly and made me feel right at home. I went into the back office, and there was a table to lay on. I laid down comfortably. Some protective lenses were put over my eyes. Sarah informed me that I would feel some heat on my face as she began the treatment. She began the Laser Genesis and while there was some heat, it wasn't intolerable. The entire procedure took a few minutes. Sarah kept me informed of where she was during the process, and her kind, professional nature kept me relaxed and comfortable. Before I knew it, it was over. I sat up, and after removing the goggles, Sarah shared some skin advice with me, and then led me back towards the reception line room. She recommended an appropriate lotion for me called Alto Defense Serum. Sarah said goodbye, I paid, and I was on my way. In and out in under an hour! In the mirror, I had immediately noticed that my skin looked smoother and healthier. But when I got home my wife really noticed! We both felt very happy with the results. I was even told the next day by my colleagues in our Zoom meeting that I looked like I was glowing that day. Which is crazy because I told no one that I would be doing this treatment. All in all, I had a fantastic experience with Sarah and SpaDerma in general. I have mixed feelings about my experience here. The facial itself was nice and left my skin looking hydrated, but the receptionists and my randomly assigned esthetician were kind of rude. The esthetician told me that my use of oral acne meds (for really terrible hormonal acne) was a bad call by me and my dermatologist and that it could all be solved by purchasing different products. She also literally told me that wearing a mask at work (nurse) wouldn't cause me to have breakouts if I "just took better care of" my skin. I was just really put off by the whole interaction. There are ways to deliver advice that don't include being condescending. read more

For the past 2 years I started seeing Dan on a regular basis every 6 weeks doing a variety of treatments (microneedling, hydrafacials, lasers) and my skin has completely transformed for the better. If I have caught your attention, please read on: While checking out for my services today, one of the staff became visibly and audibly upset when she noticed a Black man looking in the storefront window and someone said "what's he doing here?" One of the staff immediately went outside to confront this gentleman. I didn't hear their conversation, but the woman came back in and said "he said he was just looking. I think I should call the police." WTF. This spa is a huge corner property on Southport and Belmont. The space looks beautiful and new. They have glass walls and a ton of products on their shelves--it's designed specifically to be looked at. But by virtue of being a Black man wearing a hoodie, these women instantly decided that he didn't deserve to look inside and almost called the police over it. Meanwhile, I don't know what she said to this guy, but he was clearly upset because he flipped them the bird and left immediately. I was deeply shaken and another staff member apologized to me for "having had to see that," which only made me more uncomfortable and another staff person insisted on walking me to my car so that I would be safe. She may have thought that I was shaken by his middle finger, but I was really shaken by how quickly these women threatened to call the police. Given the political climate, this response seems either tone deaf or outright violent. The service itself was fine, but in no way did it make up for that experience. read more

was referred by a friend as I just recently moved to Chicago from california. I went to their website and noticed there was no pricing etc and not even any information about who you are booking with. I scheduled my appt next day because I really needed to get botox done sooner then later and scheduled. Walked into the location and was very pleased as the location was very clean very modern. and I loved that. Soon I was called back for my appt and still no info on pricing. I then get seen by ashley who informs me I need over 60 units of botox. At this point I was blown away and already getting upset. I informed her I normally get 35 units and have had amazing success. She then goes back and fourth with me on price tell i finally said I wouldn't spend more then $500 Dollars. Still no pricing on per unit was given. Then she sells me on Dysport saying that there in no difference only that Dysport activates quicker then botox and that botox takes longer to set in. I agreed to try something new and basically ended up paying around $517 dollars. I left pretty upset and very unhappy to where i called into another location, and asked on pricing etc. I was informed it's based on seniority it could range from 12 to 14 dollars a unit. At that point i was more furious as no info is given to new patients, and Patients shouldn't be paying for seniority. I then googled Dysport and found out that it is diluted and not so concentrated as Botox and in california you can get Dysport on a special for $3.00 a unit not only that but Botox at $9 dollars a unit. This place is very expensive and also doesn't communicate at all to new patients what they are getting themselves into. I don't know if it's Chicago that's expensive with botox or just this particular place. I will never ever return to this business as they are a rip off and then sell you Dysport that hasn't even done anything to my face and botox takes right away. Poor communication and no communication on pricing. All they do is try and up-sale you on overpriced botox/Dysport that does absolutely nothing!!!
