The reviews that mainly caught my eye were about Carly so I scheduled a facial with her. I later realized I scheduled it a week further out than I wanted to so I called to see if I could be seen sooner. They texted me back saying they had an opening the day I needed but they didn't say it wouldn't be with Carly. I guess I should've confirmed this but when I specifically requested her I assumed I would automatically be booked with her. I was booked with Jessica instead. When I arrived at 12:25 she greeted me at the door and immediately took me to the facial room. Her consultation was very quick and brief. We began the facial at 12:35 and she was finished by 1:22 so I did not receive a full hour facial. Any skin issues I mentioned to her she just repeated back to me when she was examining my face. I would've liked if she had walked me through the facial process step by step. Everything she put on my face was a mystery. The massage wasn't the most relaxing. My neck was tense the entire time. And while masking I just laid under the infrared light while she sat behind me silently. Almost every facial I've had elsewhere I have received a hand or scalp massage while I masked. Also the music was absolutely horrid. It was not relaxing spa music. It was more like boppy coffee shop music during the entire service. My face felt a bit tight afterwards and Jessica did not give me any product recommendations which bummed me out because I was really hoping to take something new home. Being in this industry myself this was not how I would've given the service. Overall I would not go here again.

Other stuff: music level was good, not too loud, relaxing. Not too much chatting, which is nice. Room temperature: perfect. The service itself - fantastic. Microdermabrasion feels a little weird, like a tiny lamprey raking your skin, but is not unpleasant. Also, a few pore extractions which is always a good thing. Spotless skin, for the win! Paulina was incredibly precise, and I feel like she covered every square centimeter of my skin. The little crystals did not get in my eyes, no discomfort whatsoever. On the contrary, I found it very relaxing. The microdermabrasion included face, neck and decollette as well - gotta keep all areas fresh and fine! After microdermabrasion, was a wonderful skin, neck and decollette massage with a blissful coconut/avocado oil. After THAT was a facial with a wonderful masque that smelled like apples and felt GREAT on my skin. While I was relaxing with that on - foot rub with the coconut/avocado massage oil! The front desk folks are always nice when checking you in. Margot is prompt and the space is clean and has a relaxing vibe. I love the robe (wondering where I can buy it haha) and once you've undressed and put the robe on then Margot does an assessment of your skin. I appreciate that she's not judgmental of bad habits. She lets you know what you should be doing to care for your skin, but she's never said negative things about my preferred products. She says the goal is that I feel good because all skin is different. The products she used all felt great on my face, I love the arm massages, and the price is spot on for the service. I never feel like I have to buy anything, but I have now left with exfoliant and a masque and they weren't too expensive. I also couldn't resist the cherry almond aveda hair products. The salon is very clean and bright. I was greeted right away and only had to sit for a minute before Phiwan came out to grab me. The room was cozy and serene. I felt very comfortable on the table. Phiwan set to work right away and immediately honed in on where my biggest knots and pain were and dug in. It was the perfect amount of pressure and I was able to fully relax. The salon looked great and I enjoyed chatting with the receptionist. I'm interested in trying their other services in the future.

I paid for a voucher that promised an hour-long facial, but instead was given a 30 minute facial. In other words, I wound up paying full price for a half-facial. I was very disappointed. And, of course, what can you do about it -- by the time I realize it's only been 30 minutes, my clothes were already back on, I was at the front desk settling up, and I took a glance at my watch to see about getting to my next appointment on time. The aesthetician had good technique while working with my face. She really did -- nice movements that were both gentle and confident. But her extraction was incomplete; when I got to a mirror, I noticed that there was still much work to be done. Also, the overall price is a bit high, given the neighborhood, the location, and the quality of the space itself. This is not a "relaxing" day spa. You will spend the entire time hearing the blow dryers of the hair stations, right outside the door. You can also hear the in-store radio and all the chatter. Again, I could have overlooked all of that if they hadn't deprived me of half of the service I had requested. I am very disappointed that they participated in this LivingSocial offer, presumably to drum up business, and then only offered half of what they promised.
