Saw online the great options for the pumpkin patch - sadly only available during the weekend. The only thing available during the week was looking at the pumpkins and a petting zoo. All the drinks, food and games weren't available and was a great let down. Peltzer has always been an annual tradition for our family going back to 2002! Over the years I have really enjoyed visiting and seeing what is new each year. I also love though how Peltzer has kept some of the favorites around since 2002 like our favorites: the pig races, gem panning, pony rides, the petting farm (especially the turkey) and the "how tall" sign. We always have that on our list of must take a photo of! This year I am super excited about the roping dummy's (my daughter is a roper) and the cotton candy! Yum! Violet who is serving the cotton candy is super sweet girl too!! Of course and a little mom break over at the sangria silo . Overall I think there is a lot to do and one day is probably not enough time, so plan for a couple of visits. Lots of activities to do for all ages like: food trucks, beer and wine, pumpkin painting, petting farm, gem panning, photo ops galore!, train ride, pig races, John deer cars for littles, steer roping dummies, carnival games... really just so much and super adorable! I love that you just buy tickets up front and don't have to break out my wallet at every single activity, kinda like on a cruise ship. Makes it super easy for us. Meh. Our experience was okay. There's an admission fee plus you buy tickets to access the attractions. We did the petting zoo, the train ride, and the kids tractor rides. The petting zoo was a small enclosed space and was WAY overcrowded. We saw a variety of animals - a pig, an alpaca, goats, sheep, cows, and chickens. They let too many people into a small space and there wasn't anyone inside the area managing the children/parents feeding and interacting with the animals. Some kids were picking up chickens and being a bit aggressive and no one was supervising. There were animal treats everywhere, kids shoving food onto the animals seeing which animal will take it. The animals seemed unhappy and not well taken care of. The train ride left much to be desired, it was just a short few minutes around a dirt patch of nothingness, for $6/person. It would be nice if we were driving around a pumpkin patch at the least, or some other view other than dirt! The kids enjoyed the tractor ride, though it would've been a better value if they could've gone longer than just one short round. The pumpkins were super expensive to purchase so we skipped buying. Overall there's a lot of potential with this space as they have fun attractions, but it seems like they are doing the bare minimum with each one and charging way more than what it's worth. It was an okay experience to do it one time and kept the kids entertained for a couple hours but we won't be back. read more

I was really looking forward to this farm. Unfortunately I felt it was underwhelming. We ordered sangria. It was overpriced and for the quality of drink; you could barely taste the wine and they put so much ice in the containers it waters down so fast. The pumpkin patch area was on the smaller side. We also thought the pumpkins were overpriced and felt we could get better quality elsewhere for a better price. They did have a variety of activities- petting animals and pig races (at an extra cost). Overall, the service from the employees was fine. An even split between Orange County and San Diego, this was a great weekend day trip with little ones though it was a littler smaller overall. There's an entrance fee ($3) and then you have to buy tickets for the experiences (we had $30 worth of tickets and it was more than enough). - good-sized pumpkin section - goat petting zoo had a good number of goats but it was a little small - go-cart track was the best part, all the kids loved it and it consistently had a line - train just goes around a dirt path with no view, would skip - panning for stones in the sand was okay as well Food and drinks: - there are coffee, beer, wine and sangria available near the entrance - there are food trucks near the back (that also have water, soft drinks). We had the chicken strips and all of would recommend avoiding them because they were SO salty Overall, would go again if you have small kids! read more

It was a madhouse. This review is for the Easter egg hunt at Peltzer Winery. Tickets are $6 and there were 4 different times for different age ranges. You can buy tickets online in advance or at the ticket booth. I did notice that they stopped selling tickets for the 5-8 year age group because it was full/ sold out. I came for the 10:15 AM hunt for 3-4 year olds. Parking was a joke hence I barely made it to the event time with 3 minutes to spare. Thinking that they will start on time, we raced to the egg hunt but all I saw was a sea of people!!! The space for the eggs was so small. It could not safely accommodate all the people that paid for the event. It was a joke. They also started the hunt early so we completely missed it, and my son got zero eggs. Not cool, Peltzer. We complained and thankfully they let us join the next hunt at 11AM. I queued up for the 11AM line, but the line was wrapped all the way up the hill about a quarter mile long. By the time they allowed people in, it was past 11AM, close to 11:30AM at that point. Go figure they start one hunt early but very late on the next one. The line was so long that they cut off the line right before it was our turn and told us that we will go next. I mean, at least they recognize that this is way too many people to go at once, and it would be smart to split the group. I think they should sell less tickets or offer more times. People do not want to walk into a madhouse. It was so stressful. It was finally our turn, and they formed a line around the egg hunt area. We had to adjust the line and squeeze in a little bit to accommodate everyone. They did a count down before they started the egg hunt. The whole hunt lasted a few minutes before all the eggs were gone. Thankfully, my son was strategic and was able to get a lot of eggs this time so he was happy about that. The boys opened their eggs and some were empty or had junk toys/stickers. There was no candy. It was such a waste of time. We didn't keep anything and ended up throwing the whole thing away. After that, we waited in line to get lunch and take a pic with the bunny. The line for both was ridiculously long. The food line did not move for 30 minutes and kids were grumpy so we decided that it was not worth it to eat here. The line to take a pic with the bunny was also long but it was moving very slowly so I waited. The pic was free and the set up was cute (hence 2 stars vs 1). This is the first year that Peltzer Winery hosted this event. Maybe that's why the event was a madhouse as they were unprepared / unaware. The event space was beautiful. We took pics next to the vineyard. This place had potential for this to be an amazing event but it was over crowded. read more

We took our grandkids to Peltzer pumpkin farm last weekend and were thoroughly underwhelmed. Maybe we were just spoiled - we moved from PA where apple festivals and pumpkin farms are done right! Parking was our first challenge, followed by a long line to pay simply to enter ($3/each), as well as purchase tickets for various "attractions". You will be totally nickeled and dimed here - everything costs something. I asked the girl selling tickets if I could take a pic of the breakdown cost of everything (see attached) and it wasn't until I got home and looked at it that I realized there was an ADDITIONAL 3% fee on all credit card transactions! Note we weren't advised of this when paying. Boy, they are squeezing every last penny out of customers... First impression - sooo dusty, dirty, with a farmyard manure smell. There's no corn maze which in my opinion, is required at any pumpkin farm! We thought the kids would like the petting farm (3 tickets/$3 each), but heard it was pathetic with the poor animals ill-cared for and no supervision in there. The smell was so overwhelming that thankfully, the kids didn't even want to go in. We were anxious for the train ride (6 tickets/$6 each) and waited about 25 minutes. During our wait, I had been timing the ride and it was literally 4 minutes long! I wanted to shake the sullen teenager driving the train - even the slightest bit of enthusiasm would have helped ease the fact that we had just spent $24 for a 4 minute ride on a loosely constructed "train" which as my 3 year old grandson pointed out, "Where are the tracks? A train runs on a track!" We then went to wait in another line for pony rides (7 tickets/$7 each). These poor ponies had knit coverings over their eyes with only a tiny slit for them to see through. They looked drugged, malnourished and shackled to endlessly walk in circles all day. The kids each got on a pony and rode for several minutes. When it was over, I had to stop one of the workers who were quickly trying to get the kids off for the next riders - just so I could get a picture. We ended with a small bag of kettle corn for each child ($7/each) and wisely decided against the outrageous prices for pumpkins. They honestly shouldn't be charging you to enter what they call a "pumpkin farm". I think that if you walked through before paying for tickets, you'd soon decide it wasn't worth it for any of the attractions and you'd walk out. By forcing you to pay to enter AND to buy your tickets to do ANYTHING inside, there's a sunk cost that makes you rationalize trying to make the best of it. Note to owners: this could be a cool place if totally revamped with a new model of what a pumpkin farm should really be. So, once and done at Peltzer Pumpkin Farm was enough for us! It's definitely not worth the time or money to go here. read more

Cute little farm. We got here at 10am when it opened and there were a few dozen school kids on tour. It cost $2 per person for entry M-F, weekends is $3. This is just to enter the pumpkin area. Everything else requires a payment (pony, train, games, etc). Parking is free. There's a petting zoo area, one large pumpkin patch area, 4 game booths. Walk up the hill and you pass the sunflower fields. Be careful of the bees! Lots of bees in the sunflower. You'll see 3 food trucks, keep walking up the hill to Silo bar where you can get wine and sangria. Only opened on weekends. Plenty of open space and tables for family gathering. My husband and I heard about this pumpkin farm and wanted to give it a visit. Our visit started off with a little bit of frustration. There is a huge dip turning into the dirt parking lot. I wish the owner or management would have a sign to indicate this dip it could possibly damage someone's car. Walking to the venue the women's bathroom is out of service. However, they do have portable bathrooms available. When we went to visit the pumpkin patch and petting zoo it seemed way too crowded and not worth the time or money. The food trucks were something we were really excited about and was a delicious experience. The trash cans in this area were over filled and it seems that they didn't have extra hands to take the trash out around this area. The venue and ambiance is beautiful especially at night. Staff are really nice and welcoming this venue just needs a little more attending and more staff for busy weekends. read more

We have been coming here for years between Halloween and Christmas, it's a nice family friendly place to make memories while dropping loads of cash. Family of 6, spent nearly $200 today between entrance fees, tickets, a bag of popcorn and 2 sangrias! Everything is outrageously expensive, when you calculate it all, a 30 second train ride for a family of 6 is $25. I love spending this time with my family, but thank sweet baby cheesus that this is only a once a year event for us. Our littles have a blast, the big kids just tag along and pretend to have fun for the littles' sake. You get nickle and dimed for every little thing in here! We got 2 sangrias and that was over $52, they don't taste like $52 in my honest opinion, but you sure do need the alcohol to survive the crowds here and waiting in lines for hours of your life. Lots of fun photo ops, but still there are places like Wickered Farm that we could get just as nice pics and for free. read more

One of my new favorite pumpkin patches! I love peltzer winery so it's a plus during their Fall time Pumpkin Farm. It's very family friendly and they have lots of things for the kids to do! I also love that they have different food trucks here serving food as well. Soo soo yummy! Very spacious and I absolutely love the rustic vibes. To get in the pumpkin patch it's $2 on weekdays and $3 on weekends per person. Love the goats and seeing the pony rides. I wish they had more white pumpkins this year but I think they sold out in a couple days! There's also a bar you can order drinks from in the patch which is great! I got the refillable mason jar with their amazing sangria! If you come back you can always use it to get a discount on sangria. They also have plenty of parking. Staff are all friendly and helpful. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a joke! I have been to a lot of pumpkin patches and this is the worst one I have been to. First of all you think how fun, a winery and pumpkin patch, must be a family friendly place with good wine and kid entertainment- NO it is not! RUN fast! After5:30pm you can not wine taste you can only buy a bottle. Even if you do buy a bottle, kids can not listen to live music and kids can not eat at outside tables while you have a drink. We bought 2 booklets of tickets to do all the "super fun" activities offered. It's a dollar a ticket and 6 tickets for each attraction. It turns out they only have 1 train that fits 8 people per ride. We spent most of our time in line and had a full booklet of tickets left because although there were more supplies and activities this place is very poorly run and disorganized. We came from out of town over an hour away so there is no way I would come back after the horrible experience I had. To top it off My child also fell in the sand/ gravel and was bleeding. No one had first aid and the sink and portable potties were disgusting and not to mention, no one was there to keep anything clean. If you want a great experience that is family friendly go to Tanaka farms and you won't be disappointed! read more

I have been coming to this farm at least one time every year for a long time. It used to be free entrance and it wasn't crowded at all. It was relaxing place to feel the time of year is here again. I live in wine country , so this is in my neighborhood. It was nice to see wine country is growing and this place is getting popular and popular every year. They started to charge the entrance fee a couple of years ago. More activities to do. Since it gets really crowded, I recommend to go there weekdays. This is fun place to go with little kids! Really enjoyed the pumpkin patch. The music and DJ was really great and the food trucks were definitely a hit. Would recommend spreading them out a little due to lines running into each other and it was really confusing. Really good time! Waited an hour to get on the train that wasn't worth the wait as it went around the sunflower garden and there was nothing to see. They have a ton of stuff for kids to do. At the moment they are closed and will be until the fall when they harvest. There are a lot of variety of activities at the Peltzer Pumpkin Farm from the train ride to panning for gemstones and then a lot of photo ops at the actual pumpkin farm. There are also carnival games, face painting, pig races, pony rides, petting zoo and a power wheels tractor ride. Lots of fun stuff for the kids! We enjoyed taking photos near the fun cutouts and pumpkins, the big tractors and the sunflower field. Our 2 year old daughter liked panning for gemstones. They even had a step for her to reach the water trough. We also enjoyed riding the tractor train around the sunflower field. Admission is $2 for ages 2+. Tickets for the activities seemed to be around 5 tickets a person = $5 each. There are two parking lots, one large one near the pumpkin farm and then the other at the actual winery. There are separate entrances for each area, but you can walk to and from the pumpkin farm to the winery at your leisure. Bonus points for being able to bring your glass of wine or sangria (in a plastic cup) around the grounds. Although it's also nice to sit and have a glass in the outdoor patio at the actual winery too. read more

I came back on Friday evening (10/09) since this is a beautiful local winery, great for photos and one of the only large pumpkin patches to still look forward to. We expected it to be a relatively safe outing, considering there were guidelines to be followed to keep people distanced, with limited occupancy, and facial coverings enforced (unless eating, drinking, or sitting). However, it was completely packed -- and at least 80-90% of those attending did not bring/bother to wear a mask at all, even when shoulder to shoulder with strangers. There were long lines with no 6ft markers to help keep people separated while waiting to purchase a ticket, food, or pumpkin. Because no rules were enforced, my family felt unsafe and we left much earlier than planned. I would especially advise not to bring any elderly or high risk friends or relatives here, currently. These violations will cause more closures -- and no one in our community truly wants that. I know that it isn't entirely the business at fault, but when their own staff does not follow the rules posted on their website (majority of staff were not wearing any face covering) then how do you expect any visitors to follow suit or take you seriously? Please, be more responsible so that we can keep our local businesses open and customers can feel safe when visiting. On another note: Unfortunately, I agree with the poster below about the ponies. Nothing changed from my prior review. The ponies (still) looked incredibly tired and dismal. A concerned child nearby where we were sitting was overheard asking their mother why the "horsey was dying". This is truly sad. Please limit the hours the ponies are available for rides. Surely before sunset, they deserve to rest. No one wants to ride a pony that barely looks alive. read more

This place is cute and it's one of the few pumpkin patches that you can actually walk around. You can also buy delicious drinks. They're a little pricey but they are decent/delicious. Why they low stars? Because they have a little pony section and one of the horses had a cloth over his eyes. I think this is animal abuse? They were working under the hot sun. Peltzer is gorgeous grounds, I just couldn't understand why the "patch" was on flat dirt lot area and there were no offerings of harvested and/or baked goods. Cost wise things add up! If your goal is to spend a sh&t ton of money to stand in line and wait for kids while a bunch of teenage employees sit there and do nothing, you found your place. Welcome to the most epic cash grab this side of Disneyland. We've gone here for the past four years, and today took the cake...and most of my mortgage. First, it costs $3 a person to walk around and look at pumpkins. Next a dollar a ticket. But you need a minimum of 6 tickets do anything. So if you have more than one kid, plan on spending $60-80 bones. We spent $50 on two chicken tender meals with drinks. We had to park next to old town and walk through mounds of dirt. Hell even though it's 73 degrees, somehow felt 90. That in itself is a travesty. We waited in two lines for over twenty min each only for the worker today, "sorry that was the end of the line, we need to take a break". Peltzer has done an amazing job at exploiting your love of posting cute insta pics of your family, by asking you to postpone any future car payments so you can mine for rocks for 17 seconds (6tickets). None of the workers are trained on customer service. The HOPE is that Peltzer hopes the parents drinks so they blur out the experience enough to not care. We went to visit Peltzer Pumpkin Farm for the first time. There are multiple dirt parking lots with free parking. You have to go to the ticket shack for entrance wristbands and tickets for the attractions. The farm was a decent size with normal restrooms on one side and portapottys with sinks and soap in the pumpkin section. They had 4 food trucks that day and there is a section for seating so you can eat. It's a cute farm for families and we were there for a couple of hours. I think the only heads up would be to know that it's a little pricy. Expect to pay $3 a person for entry fee, $1 for each ticket and the attractions are multiple tickets, and the pumpkins are expensive, plus the drinks and food are pricey. read more

Decided to come here since I was visiting from Los Angeles, and was in town picking up some wine. Thought it would be a good idea to maintain the halloween vibe. For children I think its great, but for parents it might be pricey and you might be there a while. lol They have what is the obvious, a pumpkin patch, mini petting zoo, piglet race (Very cute), tractor ride, train ride, little activity stations, and you can also buy pumpkins for a fee of course. We attended the Family Pumpkin Farm Night at Peltzer last night, and WOW--what an experience! This event, exclusive to wine club members, is truly one of the amazing perks of being a member. For just $15 per adult (kids were free with our tickets!), we enjoyed an incredible dinner of unlimited wood-fired pizza and salad, plus adorable dessert tables stocked with cookies and candy. Adults were treated to two complimentary beverages (wine or beer), while the kids got the cutest candy bags with tickets for rides and games. The ambiance was perfect with beautiful decorations and live music that set the vibe for a magical evening. The ticket attendant was extremely rude to our family and rejected our service dog. I informed her the dog was in fact a registered service dog for my disabled child. She just scowled and said, "it's private property and we don't allow animals. Doesn't matter if it's a service dog." I'm pretty sure that's illegal and looking into reporting this.
