There are only so many places remaining in this great country where you can get truly amazing books…read morefor 25 cents. The Rappahannock County Public Library Book Barn is one of them. Honestly, these people could sell their books on Amazon for a killing. That this place exists and sells for the prices they do is truly a public service to the surrounding community and passers through, the kind who stop at little book stores and are open to delight. A lot of used book stores suffer from what I call the Trash Problem: too many romance novels, too many really really old books that no one cares about or wants to read anymore. Somehow, the Book Barn has circumvented this problem. There are incredible books here, at wonderful prices. The classics (books you should buy when you need to read them for school), huge picture books (that you could buy to cut up for art projects), and even new, popular books -- the ones you didn't read right when they came out, but hey, for a coupla dimes and a nickel, it couldn't hurt to have it sitting around the house, could it? There are treasures here. Many of you here may be horrified at my suggestion that there are trashy books, or books that you should cut up. Well, there are. And there are some of those here, and you will literally not find cheaper printed material, whatever your ultimate machinations for it may be. I mean, personally I hope you find something here to read. I hope you buy something here, learn new things, redonate your books to people who also want to read them and love them. The Book Barn is the soul of book love.

Awesome, cozy, quaint little book store in Old Town Warrenton. I met the owner - I believe her name…read moreis Cammie. I asked her some questions about the availability of some hard cover versions of "The History of Middle Earth" series edited by Christopher Tolkien. She gave me some great intel on some news about hardcover versions of these books - coming later this year! As I turned to leave, I found snoozing away right in front of me - on a worn cardboard box - an adorable, soft, snuggly little cat. I immediately oohed and aahed and asked if was permissible to pet this little bundle of joy. Cammie told me to go ahead and pet away. I asked if it was a boy or girl - and what was their name and age? Turns out - she is a she - a little one year old named "Fable!" She is sooooooo soft and she immediately went into major purrr mode as I started giving her some attention. She is the resident Book Store kitty! Love it! #TheOpenBook

What made me want to visit The Open Book was their window showcase of Where's Waldo seek and find books (my fav)! We walked into a beautiful bookstore. We walked around pointing to all the books we like when I saw the book for me! (I mean, my grandson). It's the ABC's of Virginia!! I grabbed that book so fast and went right to check out. Check my pics for contents and you'll know immediately why I chose it. Great stop here!
