Jenni Bick has been on my "must visit" list for quite awhile, so I was more than thrilled to stop by on my recent trip to DC for a Yelp event! I got there right as they opened, and literally spent an hour just slowly wandering through the beauty of all the journals, cards, notebooks, notepads, stickers, pens, paper, and general amazingness. If you're a planner (or pen) junkie, there's literally something for everyone here, and I found their prices to be varied enough that there was something for every budget. Did I need another set of pens, a new sticker, and a purse-sized notepad? Probably not! Did I buy some anyway. Absolutely! Bonus points that they also sell local postcards *and* stamps, so I was able to write a little note to friends and family back home on a DC-themed postcard. This spot will 100% be on my "visit again" list - because really, can you ever have enough journal supplies?! read more

On a whim I just wandered to the store and had the most transformational stationary shopping experience ever! Ye helps me to identify the most beautiful journal, along with pens and other accoutrements. On every visit the staff has been accommodating and friendly. Stop in if you can. read more

Cute stationery store. Pretty big in size. The products they have are of wonderful quality. They have a big selection of various stationery products like pens, stickers, journals, notebooks, paper, calendars and much more. The pricing was decent and pretty comparable to other places selling the same or similar products. There is a metro station not to far away so it's easy to get to. read more

What a lovely space and collection of goods, and if I lived in DC, I'd be here all the time. The store reflects a design aesthetic where you feel like there's a lot to look at without being overwhelmed, and there's so many fun things to look at and buy and items are chosen for their quality and relative value. A big up to Jenni Bick for making my lunch breaks a little bit brighter when I was a corporate slump working downtown! This place is truly a stationary lovers dream. I found out so many new notebooks and pens to obsess over as I walked through the aisles. They have all the heavy hitters but also a few new brands that I had never heard of! Also big ups to being one of the only places in the area to sell the highly coveted Hobinichi planners. Everything is clearly organized and they have lots of testing paper out so you can find the perfect pen to help you live your best life. Truly a gem! read more

Absolutely in love with this gem of a store. For stationary lovers and enthusiasts, demand even those just curious, this is a haven for anything and everything stationary related. Within the deceptively large space there is an expansive selection of everything from specialty fountain pens, papers, notebooks, stickers, inks, custom journals, cards, letters, trinkets, and all sorts of other stationary related items. Not just everyday run of the mill items either, rare, hard to find, and ultra premium items as well. The kind of items that are almost never seen in brick and mortar stores, at least here in the states, stuff that typically requires either visiting multiple specialty shops or niche online stores, or frankly even importing some of it. It was just truly incredible to see the pure variety of all they had available. On top of this, the service was friendly and efficient with knowledgeable staff helping out. The space was clean, well organized, and inviting. Prices were fair too, not cheap but no crazy markups on the items available either, after all much of the items are premium goods and as such they will have similar pricing no matter where you get them. Fantastic for shopping for yourself or for gifting, I would highly recommend and will absolutely be returning myself, absolutely elated by the fact a shop like this even exists! read more

How beautiful was my one of a kind leather journal? Beautiful enough that I went back and purchased another larger one! 2 unique leather journals for different purposes. I love that it's one of a kind, leather, not too thick, but enough variety of pages to inspire my creative side. The customer service was again, excellent. I added the embossing to immediately personalize it and make it feel special to me. I'm glad they ship because I will be ordering more stuff from them once I go back home. read more

I stopped in to pick up a unique "neighborhood card" and ended up discovering so much more at this wonderful stationery and gift shop. The selection of notebooks and pens is outstanding, and the customer service--especially from team members like Ra'eese--was excellent. I love this shop. I've been coming here for years. Unfortunately, staffing as of late has been a miss. I used to come in and was treated kindly, the staff were willing to help and were super knowledgeable. I specifically recall years back just talking to the staff for at least an hour. It felt like a safe space. Yesterday I went in looking for a specific item. I was helped, but it felt like I was burden to the one cashier. Her attitude was repulsive. Luckily, two other lovely staff members helped me. One showing me how to use a travelers notebook rubber band, and another was kind and curious about my interest in inks for fountain pens. As a Black Queer DC native, it can get exhausting trying to live my life in my city and being treated with what seems like prejudice. I did talk to the manager today and she was really kind about addressing my experience. And they do employ a decent amount of POC staff. This experience was just disheartening. read more

The salesperson showed me a variety of pens and nibs, and let me try them all, while explaining the different characteristics of each. I walk into this shop all the time, but this time I wanted to treat myself to a few new pens. I was helped by Kevin who was amazing and honest about the pens which were his personal favorite in store. Today, I purchased a Kaweco fountain pen (my first ever) and a Faber Castillo rollerball pen as well. Excited about my purchase and the awesome customer experience while in store. I was amazed at all of the items they had in stock. I was able to grab a Paperblanks journal for my mom and a Hobonichi for myself. They have a great assortment of curated items from indie artists to established calligraphy and journaling brands. Terrific store for anyone who's a stationery fan. It's packed with journals, notebooks, pens, stickers and everything else you could wish for as a writer or hobbyist. Their collection is impressively both global (saw Japanese and German companies represented) as well as super local (for example several hilarious buttons, stickers and candles are from companies in the area). The only downside to this store is you will likely walk out buying more things than you intended! read more

My train got in at quarter to 5 so I booked (heh, puns) it over only to find out they're now open until 7! Happy surprise! After wandering around looking a little lost, a very friendly worker kindly adopted me and helped turn the store inside out looking for a type of paper very specific (the paper) and picky (me). We succeeded in both journal and loose form. Huzzah! Inspired by our good fortune, I decided that the beautiful Italian leather journal deserved better than to be written in using my usual bulk-purchased Staples gel pen, so with her help I picked out an appropriate fountain pen for beginners. And, because I have little impulse control when it comes to finer things, I had her teach me about ink converters and bottles so I could pick them up, too. TL; DR: Great selection, fantastic experience of service. Will definitely be stopping in again when I'm in DC. read more

I would definitely recommend Jenni Bick's. Staff offered help, then let me be. When I had a question, they were knowledgeable and personable. Malik and Claire were especially helpful and kind. Malik helped me dip probably a half dozen fountain pens and test them out. Lots of delightful Ferris Wheel Press inks, local postcards, and other fun stationery and supplies. Another employee had clearly been burned more than once by people who wanted to see the handmade journals. Yes, they're gorgeous with irresistible leather, silk ribbons, and a $100+ price tag. They were the main reason I made the pilgrimage. But apparently they're also a pain to re-wrap using their ribbons, and the employee didn't hesitate to let me know that I wasn't welcome to peruse more than one or two. Sounds like a new ribbon wrapping method would help - if it's a pain for the employees, how am I supposed to do it? I circumvented the problem by gently flipping through the papers from the top, which was fine. Maybe y'all can suggest that for the next customer. read more

A very quality product but be advised that the sizes advertised on the website are quite possibly not what you will receive. I ordered a photo album that reflected on the website that it was one size - but when it arrived, it was almost an inch smaller each way. The sales associate said it was likely a change the manufacturer made - and he showed little interest in guaranteeing that the website would be corrected to reflect that. He only assured me that I could return it. read more

Nice local stationery and pen shop. Very nice variety of journals and pens. I liked that I was able to purchase several types of pens and pencils individually to try. We arrived there 30 minutes before closing. I was hoping to browse a little longer but one of the staff members made a point to tell me the store was closing shortly. I had some items to purchase already on the counter and was hoping to have a couple more minutes to decide on a journal to buy. But after he told me they were closing, I decided not to buy one. I didn't like the way this interaction occurred which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. Other than that, they had a great variety of products. Staff seemed knowledgeable as well. I returned the next day. Told a staff member I couldn't decide between 2 journals. She offered no suggestions to help make an informed decision on the journals, but did make a point to ask if I wanted to spend $15 on each journal to emboss them with my initials (note the journals cost over $35 each, plus I bought a few pens). Fantastic options for journals, but HORRIBLE customer service. For a local shop and for the amount I spent, I expect a lot more helpfulness and friendliness. read more

While on a trip to DC, I wanted to get my wife something special. Last year, I bought her a traveler's notebook, and she is also really into crafting, so I decided to check out this shop. Personally, I don't know much about crafting nor about traveler's notebooks, but the staff here are so friendly and quick to help out. For me, it was easy to get overwhelmed by all of the choices, but I was walked through the products patiently and was even allowed to try out some of their pens to see if I liked one over another. There are shelves of notebooks of all different types. They have different types of paper (lined, blank, dotted) and different colors as well. Custom embossing is available towards the back of the shop. They also have a lot of cards, and a more whimsical section as well. Tons of different types of pens which write differently. If you have a traveler's notebook, they have a lot of accessories for it as well in different sizes. I ended up buying some inserts and sticky pockets, as well as a bookmark and a paper time capsule to fill out for my son. Really happy with the quality so far - I just hope my wife agrees since she knows her crafts a lot better than I do! read more

Amazing place, I'm from outside DC and I'm working in DC for the summer and I have to say this place was amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect but their collection and supplies were varied and fairly priced. I love to support local businesses and I didn't mind dishing out a bit more to have a great experience and customer service. If you are in the area and you love art/journaling/stationary you should definitely stop by.
