My Oh My what a wonderful restaurant ! Sandy Springs has needed a place like this for a long time and it is not to be missed . From the welcome at the door to the service from Michael to the visit at the table from the owner (I gather an alum of Ford Fry ! ) the service was over the top . The restaurant design is sensational with different seating areas to meet your every need . sit and eat at the bar , sit in the sumptuous booths or grab an app and glass of wine casually at 5pm in the wide seats .. But in the we go back "if the food is good" and this food is fabulous and creative with superb taste . (DO NOT miss the Octopus ). creative just right size menu for the kitchen to be able to execute on every creative presentation ..The pasta fabulous , the Bistecca perfect , the deserts perfect and delicious. Okay pizza, but I guess they have never heard the phrase that "the customer is always right." The chef must be egotistical, because the wait staff cowers at the slightest change to items on the menu. Will not go back. read more

Unfortunately Pendolino did not hit the mark for me. I was rooting for this neighbor hood restaurant and was excited to give it a try. We ordered the Caesar salad , which was great and the manhattan cocktail too. However the halibut was bland and overcooked which left a very unpleasant taste. I couldn't eat more than two bites and left rather hungry. They were kind enough to notice and asked if they could replace it. The ambience was good and the servers too were great. Thanks read more

Service is slow. Food is forgettable. What a disappointment. Save your money. Go to Trader Joe's and buy some pasta and fresh salad greens.

Met a friend here for dinner and had great service. Convenient parking was a plus. Restaurant has nice decor and warmth. Getting 4 stars because food was good but not exceptional. We found this gem after going to our "go-to Italian" restaurant and it was closed. We were seated right away and the service from Michael was outstanding. The food is the main reason I'm writing this review. We had the Caesar Salad, Diavola pizza, and lasagna. Outstanding!!! The salad was tasty, lettuce was fresh, salad dressing was yummy and the croutons were to die for. The Diavola pizza was delicious, but be careful if you don't like spicy stay away. Last but not least was the lasagna the portion was perfect and the crunchy top was uniquely delicious. So happy we stopped by for dinner. read more

Went to this new spot with 5 friends and it's now my (our) favorite Italian spot in the city. Started with a small pizza and several other small plates. The pizza dough was spot on-- perfectly seasoned dough and nice heat on the Diavola; wood fired brick oven made it authentic Naples. Calamari was crispy and delicious as were the other small plates. The chicken Parm was the best I've had and was a giant portion. Excellent cocktails and the wait staff was attentive and very friendly. Terrific ambiance despite being super busy on a Saturday night. I've been twice since they've been open. Not only are the food & drinks amazing, but the staff is even better. Very friendly, attentive, & great recommendations! The veal meatballs were sooo delicious!! The sliders were also so amazing! Loved the spritz & espresso martini was a must. I will for sure be back a lot more for patio season. read more

A welcome addition to the Chastain and south Sandy Springs neighborhood. Great food, drinks and ambiance. Have been 4 times. Favorites: the chicory salad, the NY Strip and the ravioli. Also a spicy pizza...can't remember the name. Love the choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Great vibe. read more

This restaurant is beautiful inside. The service was spot on for the whole evening for our party of 6. Appetizers were all delicious. Pizza was tasty with great crust. Everyone loved their entrees especially the chicken parm, scallops, shrimp with vodka sauce and meatballs with spaghetti. Can't wait to return! read more

Pendolino is a hidden gem near Chastain Park. Great pasta and great pizza. Good ambiance.

Every dish we had was to die for! The ricotta ravioli was amazing, I was basically licking my plate clean. The waitress was wonderful and was very knowledgeable of the menu. I can't wait to go back! read more

Pendolino is a great neighborhood joint. Atmosphere is fantastic and the service is top notch. The burrata and beef carpaccio appetizers were out of this world! The pastas lacked flavor and were a dull. I will definitely be back to try the pizzas because they look delicious! read more

Our first visit - except for a slip at the beginning when we waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine, service was well timed and our server was excellent. The food was enjoyable. But oh -- the noise!! This was our anniversary dinner and we could not talk to each other. A table for 7, with very loud diners, was far too close to our table for 2. This place has high ceilings and tile floors -- very chic but it needs some noise abatement badly. If you want a quiet meal, go when they open at 5:00. Unless you enjoy a very noisy place. read more

Cool place and cool bar just very pricey for drinks. Ordered two drinks, $18 for a buffalo trace old fashioned and $16 for a wine pour. Tab, with tip, was $44. Service was great, but unless you're a billionaire maybe don't get a drink. read more

Ate there for the first time last night. Pleasantly surprised! My wife and I live between Atlanta and NY, so we tend to be pretty critical of restaurants. Pendolino will definitely be on our rotation. Great menu with a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. We had pizza, salads and the chicken parmigiana. All were quite good. Service was great and the restaurant is well appointed. Overall, great experience. Look forward to our next meal there. read more

Food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We sat outside as the indoor seating, while available, was a tad chilly for my wife, but otherwise, the entire atmosphere was very comfortable and warming. Definitely will visit again as this was our first experience with the restaurant. read more

Solid 3.5 Stars!! Tried this place a few weeks after opening and they definitely need to work some kinks out. Food was good but not great. Service was OK. The restaurant itself was cute but not very clean? We were seating in the back room which wasn't the best considering the majority of the restaurant was open and we had reservations. Probably wouldn't return again solely based on the quality for this price. Honestly thought it was very overpriced for what our experience was. Hoping they can make some improvements! read more

Great restaurant! Met some friends there to try it out and we were not disappointed! The food was great (the crudo and octopus appetizers were fantastic), the service was perfectly attentive, and the atmosphere had an excellent feel - very welcoming. The ambiance is great at this new Italian spot in Sandy Springs: Loud (in a good way) nicely designed space and good lighting. We arrived early and headed to the crowded bar for a drink to wait for the rest of our party -when we couldn't get any attention from the 3 people behind the bar we gave up and headed to the hostess to get seated. Once seated our server came over right away and took our drink orders ,10 minutes later one of us was served a cocktail , we all ordered the same cocktail but only one came out , so ,obviously they have some service kinks to work out and the cocktail (Paisano) was pretty flavorless . Then the server (who was very nice and very busy) apparently didn't hear my friends app order and the rest of the apps came out w/out hers,We enjoyed the pizzette and the cheesy garlic bread,once we added pepper flakes and parmigiana-but the calamari was not good:rubbery ,cold and a tiny portion. By the time the server came over to take our entree order (at least 1/2hr later) I was no longer hungry and ordered the radicchio salad ,which was over dressed. My companion ordered the burger and fries which she liked and was served with/alioli . Iverall I found the food mid and pretty flavorless. I can see why folks would love this spot once they work out the kinks because the room has a great energy -the chef should taste the food and they really need to work in the service -they were all very nice but seemed to be in the weeds as they say. read more

What a great new addition to the Atlanta restaurant scene! Pendolino has been open three weeks and it is already very popular and I can see why! The ambiance is energetic, modern, and comfortable (in a good way). The service was wonderful - Kudos to our server, India, who was attentive, knowledgable, professional, and courteous. She made some great recommendations. The menu looked had so many great options that it was hard to decide what to order! I loved the Sonny Boy cocktail with Tequila - their take on a Margarita. The wine list had some great Italian wine selections - both by the glass and the bottle. The Caesar salad was divine! India recommended the "Veal-Ricotta Meatballs" pasta dish and it was delicious. My husband loved it. I had the Halibut, served over butter beans and an herb salad, and a crispy Artichoke stem. I loved everything about this dish! The Halibut was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments, particularly the artichoke, were all wonderful. Can't wait to go back! read more

We were very excited to have a new place in the neighborhood and went for dinner several days ago. We hesitated because Pendolino has been open less than a month and we thought to wait and let them "work the kinks out" but decided what the heck and went anyway. So, as a point of clarification I had to smile reading the restaurant's description as "serving the Chastain Park community". Let's be clear - Pendolino is located in south Sandy Springs, and Chastain Park is about 10 minutes away. Anyway, let's start with the positives: 1) we walked in on a Sunday night with no reservation. The host was cordial and said he would have a table for us in about 15 minutes. We were seated in 10. Nicely done. 2) Our server, sorry forgot his name, was attentive and friendly. 3) the room is lovely. I remember the two restaurants that were in this space previously, a sports bar and a greek themed restaurant/hooka bar, and the Pendolino team did a nice job with the decor and ambiance of the place. 4) The food - very good quality, well prepared. Ok, now the things that need to be worked on: 1) do NOT go to this restaurant if you are starving. The food, which was very nice, did NOT include any sides! I have never been to an Italian restaurant that did not put some bread on the table or offer pasta sides or some sort of sides. 2) I had to literally beg my server to bring some focaccia to the table, which he did and did not charge me. He probably took pity on me. The house salad I ordered was very tasty but had NO croutons. Again, someone in charge in the kitchen must have an issue with carbs or bread or any sort of flour based menu item. :) 3) The tuna puttanesca was delicious and had.... wait for it.... no side. No side dishes where even offered on the menu to order. Every other restaurant where I have ordered tuna has included some sort of side dish, be it rice, farro, orzo, etc. All I had as my side were olives and peppers. 4) The chicken parm my wife ordered was delicious. HUGE portion of chicken and a very light, mild sauce. However, chicken parm with NO pasta? Are you kidding me? Pasta costs pennies. How above a smaller size portion of chicken and offer some spaghetti, linguine, or penne...... on the side? Thankfully my wife shared some of her dinner with me or I would have left the restaurant out $100 (1 glass of wine) and hungry. All that said, we'll stay positive and hope the folks at Pendolino read their reviews and make some necessary changes/tweaks. Meantime, we will return and try the pizzas with a ceasar salad. And yes, I will make sure I have lunch that day. read more
