We loved this place!!! It was everything that was promised to us. There was a beautiful lobby with friendly staff that remembered us daily. The court yard was also beautiful and well maintained. I loved how they had tons of community chairs, hammocks, and a center fountain. Each room had 2 personal chairs as well. We could walk up right to our room. The room was clean and cool. The AC worked fine. Everything worked good. They had a mini fridge and bucket for ice. The bathroom was private. The sink water had no pressure, but the shower did. The water was the temp we wanted. We did have to ask for room service a couple times, but when they did come, it was good. They cleaned up well and removed sand. The access to the beach was awesome. They had chairs and umbrellas ready for us. The beach attendant was also nice and remembered us daily. The bar with music was great too. We never used the sunset photo booking, but I loved that it was an option. They also have great vans that will take us anywhere on the beach for free. Prevents us walking too far, taking an uber, or going anywhere not sober!! I loved every bit of this place and we got a great price on it. Our first time back since the hurricane devastations. They did a good job restoring the hotel. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Very clean. My suggestions would be better window treatments. Our hotel windows faced the pool and a parking lot for a hotel under renovations. Because of security lighting, which I understand is a must. It was very bright in our room at night. The window treatments didn't really help. Guest should keep in mind that the doors are very, very heavy. I think this is a hurricane safety measure, but be respectful of adjacent rooms or your neighbors. Also be aware there is no elevator. They probably won't/cant guarantee a ground floor but you could always ask. read more

Bait and Switch!! Don't believe the pictures on their website! The room had a horrendous smell, the blind was broken so everyone at the pool or bar could see right into my room. Had family staying in another room and her door wouldn't lock. Didn't want to lay my head on the bed! We went to front desk and got a full refund. Don't recommend! Casual beach resort in beautiful St. Pete Beach. They have a sports bar, beach bar and a couple of pools. The resort is directly on the beach so you're just a few steps away from the ocean and powdery sand. We even had a dolphin sighting while we were there. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Jimmy B's Beach Bar was just a few steps from our room and offered casual food like burgers and chicken tenders. There is live acoustic music during the day and at night it turns into a popular beach nightclub. My favorite part about Beachcomber was the proximity to a nice stretch of St. Pete Beach. read more

I requested a refund of my deposit and was told they didn't have the funds available to do this as they were waiting on insurance. Never ever will I stay at the Beach Comber in St Pete again. Check in at 4, ok waited all day for them to call that our room was ready since we got here at 11:30. Reservations were made as a group reservation. You would think the rooms would be together. Nope. They put the rest of our party on the 2nd floor (where I wanted to be) put us on the ground floor and I was not happy. They didn't have any other room for us. The manager was rude and dismissive and because I made it clear how unhappy I was his answer was he would remove me from the property. Beach and Jimmy B's is great but I will never stay at this hotel again. Plenty of other hotels on the strip that will accommodate and keep the party together. Rudeness not acceptable at the rates they charge for the shabby rooms. And if you plan to stay more than a couple of days only 2 draws so don't expect to unpack. The floors are slimy and you can cut yourself on the towels. If you want to bring you soap and shampoo in the shower expect to have to put them all on the floor (shower shelf pictured). And check out the picture of the vanity in the bathroom. The sink fills up when brushing my teeth. Budget motel at a premium price with few and outdated amenities. We were welcomed to the resort and informed of no early check-ins and were told they'd call as soon as a room became available - although they checked other members of our party into the same rooms immediately with no call. We were also greeted with the line 'gone are the days of everyday cleanings - you'll get a room refresh every couple of days but no full cleaning' and 'check in is at 4 but you're not guaranteed a room then.' The rooms are small and like the whole building, budget updated with a fresh-ish coat of paint. The bathrooms are tiny, no outlets, and limited shelving except for right above the sink that gets in the way. The towels are super thin and look like they've been in use for quite a while. Don't expect a healthy stock in the room either. Also make sure you get a second floor room and away from the bar. The first floor is open to the public going to the bar so they'll be walking by your room - with a big window looking in- and the other side is a window to the parking lot. You can tell the owner is only concerned about the bottom line and has no pride in the building or 'resort'. If things are repaired, it's quick and a budget friendly repair with a fresh cost of paint. The landscaping is pretty nice in the courtyard, but the 2 pools are pretty worn out as well - small too. There also looks to be limited staffing - I'm sure they'll blame working shortage even after what they charge for rooms. The bar is pretty good for live music, but definitely not family friendly if that's what you're looking for. Food is ok but a bit pricey. They did have a concert while we were there that they turned away resort guest because they were at capacity and anyone can go. The bar also shares the 'resort's' bathrooms and is one of the most disgusting places you could go with the smell almost knocking you out as you pass and creeping into the pool area. Urine everywhere on the men's floor so you'll end up making the walk back to your room. Music goes pretty late so you may not want to be on the end closest to the bar. The beach is nice and your room gets you a pop up shade spot on the bench and 2 chairs a room. Extra chairs are $15 and they will rent these to outside guests as well. The spot is not always staffed so you need to hope they left the chairs unlocked. You can get towels, but these are in more rough condition than the room towels and are stained. I would say you get what you paid for, but this place is priced similar to better maintained properties on the strip. They just don't care because they can still book rooms out and I'm guessing pay for reviews on google. We ended by asking for an hour later checkout and of course we're denied even when our room wasn't available the first day. Do yourself a favor unless maybe you're looking for pricier chance of a hookup. Families should probably avoid. 2 stars instead of 1 because I at least could sleep and never felt not-safe I guess. read more

After reading some of the reviews on here, I was worried about staying here. Yes, it is an older hotel, but it has some positive features. Number one--it has great access to the beach. On the beach, you get a cabana or chairs with umbrellas. The guys out there are very friendly and accommodating. The room itself is nice. There are chairs outside so you can sit and look at the beautiful courtyard. The bathroom is small and awkward. A definite throwback from when it was built. Our room was clean and smelled nice. Have stayed many times over the past 20 years. The hotel has recently been renovated. However, the renovation job that was done is less than acceptable for the rates charged!! The exterior of the building is still in desperate need of cleaning and painting in several areas. The bathrooms need further renovation. Paint was peeling off bathroom door etc. Also, bathroom fixtures etc looked as if they hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival. Jimmy B's is still a fun place with great entertainment. However, they now offer a limited menu with many popular items from the previous menu eliminated. Also, we were disappointed in the quality of the food we ordered. DIRTY!!!HAIR ON SHOWER WALL I decided to come to the beachcomber on a trip with my family. But unfortunately was disgusted when I got here starting off, we had to park across the street from the resort(if you can even call it that). Which may not be a problem for some but lugging your luggage back was a pain. Especially with a five year old. One of the pools was closed due to renovation, in compensation free cabana at the beach, but it's first come first serve. Which was a little bit disappointing... so we decide to go to the other pool that was open and it was tiny, packed, and covered in sand at the bottom, and just dirty. After the pool, we came back to relax and rinse off. But was extremely disappointed to say the least to find HAIR ON THE SHOWER WALL. There was also hair on the couches and pillows. The women greeted us very nice and staff was nice and Expedia said the both pools were open but the big pool was closed for renovation. The small adult pool had kids and it was so cloudy and you could not see the bottom. Expedia says daily housekeeping but front desk said once during my five day stay. But when I did call for extra bedding and towels and they came in like 3 minutes. As for the room the floors needed mopping the pull down shad was broken and had holes. Couches were uncomfortable, no central air wall unit and was hot in different rooms. Outside activities were broken. With the renovation we had to walk around because one side was closed. No elevator had three suitcases and had to bring it up steps one by one. read more

"Lipstick on a pig" We stayed here 6 years ago and liked it so much we stayed again June 2023. However the property is very much in need of maintenance. They recently renovated the rooms with new bathrooms, bedding and TV. However the new bathroom has no counter space only a shelf over the sink and toilet. But the toilet has no lid so anything that's dropped goes right into the toilet. Rainwater shower heads look nice but for a beach resort, do nothing to rinse out women's hair. The bathroom has a hole in the wall where the toilet paper holder once was and the door molding wood simply fell off. The ironing board was broke and the iron had a lot of the plastic missing I was afraid of getting electrocuted. We were on the ground floor and the sliding door facing the bar doesn't lock and couldn't be fixed so they gave us a metal pin to stop the door from opening . And the sliding door rails looked like original dirt from 1970. The outside doors are bloated from the humidity and cannot be opened easily. They're renovating the pool which we knew about but the entire property needs updating or tear down. The restaurant food was surprisingly good and nightly entertainment was great. Drinks are expensive and short on alcohol. The band stopped at 11 but the next door's hotel band went to 1:30 am. The included beach cabanas were great and the man setting up did a great job setting up, cleaning trash and smoothing the sand. If you want a "spring break" type of hotel and don't care about cleanliness or working items, this hotel is for you. read more

Get a room close to my daughter Early check in They said they can't guarantee any of this because I called the morning of my trip ( but when I called 2 weeks ago they told me I have to call the morning of my visit) When I got to the hotel, there was two gentlemen at the service desk so I talked to David, which was very common very nice very well spoken Neice manners. He was a pleasure to do business with, but when he explained to me that there were no notes on my account for all the things I requested I let out a little sigh . Did I know the owner was the other person standing at the front desk and he told me that there is no signing a grunting so I looked at him and said so I just said no grunt no sign hotel and he said yes, so I held my hands and said whoa and he says don't raise your hands to me so I said I'm not even gonna deal with you anymore but I'm gonna tell you right now you are very rude so I proceeded to deal with David. He told me he would call me as soon as the room was available, and behold as I walked out the door, the room was available. We did end up getting the room at 11:30 which was a great thing. On our way to the room my sister tripped on the tile on the 2nd floor and cut her foot.. The mirror on the room was all dirty and there were no towels and the counter in bathroom had left over coffee on it. Both pools were extremely warm . Other than that it was a great Time. read more

If you are a smoker, this is the place for you! There are no designated smoking areas so our neighbors have been smoking on their balcony all day, every day since we arrived. We can't enjoy our balcony because the smoke is unbearable. Even our run down room smells strongly of smoke. The bar was out of a lot of their food and drink choices and my husband got food poisoning on day two from a salad he had at the bar. The rooms need some help as they are run down and utilitarian. With the dim lighting I can't tell if the room is really clean. I would steer clear of this place unless, like I said, you are a devout smoker who doesn't care about the others around you. read more

I have stayed at this resort 8 times in the past 7 years. The quality of the features of this resort have all gone down hill. The rooms have been remodeled to a very low level of expectation. They do not clean your room during your stay. You have to change your own sheets if you request new bedding. We did not have our trash removed or towels refreshed unless we called For the service. The room was not swept of sand during our 4 night stay. The drinks at Jimmy Bs beach bar had very little alcohol in them. I called the bartender out on a rum runner i watched her make. She said that they are out of dark rum and it costs a $1 extra for it. I said a rum runner calls for dark rum so it should not cost extra and if you are out of dark rum then take the drink off the menu. The front desk is also not monitoring the issuing of wrist bands like they used to. This makes it easier for people to reserve their beach cabanas even if they are not guests. So while we are waiting on the balcony, this 40s lady clearly jacked up on drugs walked from the bar, past the bathroom and the pool. She walks to go to the bushes pulls her pants down and pisses in the bushes. She stands up naked, pulls pants up with piss all over her and walks away. She then goes in lobby throwing shit everywhere and sits in a chair. Another guest had issues with things working. And was being told the GM wasn't answering at all. Right after this guest walked away, a male came out from the upstairs offices as I was walking out. so when my wife and I went to the front desk, I told her I thought if she went up the stairs, I bet she would get an answer, and there was a female and a male in management that was hiding upstairs, not attending to the guests issues. They only have one person working the front desk. She was great yesterday. There was a line of at least five people waiting to check in. Have issues addressed. This place is a dump. Paid the extra $$$ and stayed at the Rumfish. Much nicer ! And can still here the music from a balcony. Lost a day vacation BUT lesson learned. read more

This place is right on the water and the pool is warm. The live music is nice. That is where it ends. The rooms are gross. We stayed in a "quadruple junior suite". I thought it would be two rooms. No, it was one normal size hotel room with a king size bed and a small couch that when pulled out, turns into the most awful, most uncomfortable , and awkward bed that nobody should have to sleep on unless you've committed a horrible crime. Then, in the other "room" that is the size of a closet, there is the same bed and a TV. We had to ask for bedding for the other two beds two times the night we checked in. It finally came, very late. There is one bathroom with a dirty sink, ours only had hot water, a toilet and an old, smelly shower. No soap, and old, itchy, crap towels, but only enough for two people. You get no housecleaning at all. We were there four days and saw a maid one time at six o'clock at night. She asked us if we needed anything, that is it. Like what? They don't provide soap. Her cart looked empty so I asked for some coffee but they don't provide creamer. We had to beg to get clean towels each day. Forget about anyone taking your trash out. I asked our last day for someone to just take out the trash and give us new towels and surprise-we got nothing of the sort. The chairs and umbrellas on the beach are for resort "guests" but if people not staying want to rent them first and they run out, you're out of luck. Making more money is a priority, not their guests. And only two chairs per room. However you do have to pay that daily resort fee before they even allow you to even check in! How ridiculous. I paid so much money for our room during Spring break and I have to pay extra for two chairs for my daughters staying in the same room along with a "daily resort fee". There are ton of nicer hotels all there with beautiful pools, nice beach bars and live music. Why I picked this dump, I do not know. Do not stay here! read more

The lobby and rooms are very rundown and the staff was very rude. The manager did not respond when I was concerned about this nor did she care about a leak in the sink or mildew smell in the room. The employees at the check-in acted as if I were an inconvenience. The manager couldn't have cared less. We booked it blindly upon recommendation of a friend. At almost $600 for two nights, we really wish we had done our research first. PLEASE do your research and read up on this place before you stay here. We checked in and were quickly made aware of the many shortcomings that this place has. * There is NO elevator - you have to carry your belongings up the stairs (easier said than done, while you have a toddler in tow). * This is a glorified MOTEL and by NO means a "resort." * The room was dark, dingy, and not AT ALL like the photos that you see attached to the positive reviews. * The junior suite is not as spacious as it appears in photos, and I would be hesitant to sit on that couch without first putting on a hazmat suit. * Yes, the landscaping seems to be well-maintained, but that's about it. Putting similar effort into maintaining the rooms might be a good idea. * The music coming from the bar area is EXTREMELY loud and goes on until 1am (sometimes later). * There is an on-site bar/grille, and I would give that place 4 stars if it were independent from the hotel. The food was actually pretty great, and the service there was also wonderful. * Beach access was very convenient. The beach chairs and cabanas were also a plus. I could not fathom staying at this place with a small child in tow. Had it been just my husband and I, we would have toughed it out and continued our stay. However, I quickly booked another place and quickly got out of there. Come night fall, I would compare the ambience to that of a frat party/kegger. Definitely not for families with young kids, or for seniors looking to relax. read more

We enjoyed our staycation here. We booked this for a birthday. Stayed Saturday, Sunday. We got a room that was easier for a handicapped person since the birthday girl had a broken ankle. We were 3 people with 2 full size beds. Small, but it worked. There was a middle size fridge and microwave. Room was clean. Check in was easy and we even got a free birthday beverage as we got there. The employees were nice. We got a free Cabana on the beach for the 2 days. The pool was really pleasant and cool and Jimmy B's was happening. Our family stayed here for a post cruise vacation weekend ( vacation from a vacation). This location is pretty convenient, since is walking distance to shops, restaurants, souvenirs stores, ice cream shops and of course only a few steps from the beautiful beach! We arrived at 2pm , ( check In is schedule at 4pm). The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and informative. The always acknowledged is when we pass by. They also let us check in early, THANKS! They gave use a gift bag that contained: - a couple bottles of water - coupon for 2 free drinks at Players( the Sport bar- grill) - coupon for local restaurant Spinners - a parking pass - a card to show at a kiosk at the beach, so we can get beach chairs, cabanas and umbrellas at the beach during our stay. The grounds of the hotel were well kept and clean. Our room was unit # 420. It was located in front of the pools are, and steps away from Jimmy B's ( deck bar restaurant) and few more steps s to the beautiful beach. The room were fairly spacious. It was clean, it had a a separate area with a couch and a additional TV, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The only downside in the room is that the wall AC never cooled the room off sufficiently. We ended up buying a couple of fans. The pool areas were nice, we really enjoyed them after a day at the beach. They also have beach balls, pool inflatable and toys that you can use. I personally think that was a nice touch. The atmosphere is very outgoing. Since the deck bar ( Jimmy B's) had live bands until 3am. We really enjoyed sitting in our balcony and listening to the music and watching the crowd. We had a great time at the Beachcomber Ressort. I feel like I need to start with the toilets are friggin industrial in each room. No clogs here. Lol! All jokes aside the staff made this trip! The front desk staff was more than amazing! The maintenance guy-also awesome! You just need to know what to expect: if you're going to see a band like no filter or mixed signal and spend the day at the beach-this is your place. It's not lavish, but it's clean. The Sri is are reasonably priced and the live music is great. Also the sunsets there are gorgeous! Just know when the bar closes at 2ish that there will be a gaggle of drunkerds walking out past your room and it gets a tad noisy. If you came for the party then that won't matter. If you want quiet and tranquility or classy and fancy I recommend the don Cesar down the street if you want down to earth people, live music, and a great story to tell them stay here! 4 stars for the convenience. Beach bar, pool and steps away from the beach. Not the most up to date resort. I am a local so I have been here multiple times to hangout for the day but I recently stayed for 3 nights while my friend was in town. There is a resort fee, 30 something a day, that I was not aware of until check in. However, you get free beach chairs and umbrella if you stay at the hotel which is normally $40/day so it evens out. The food is overpriced bar food with an edible flower to make it fancy. Drinks are over priced but what do you expect at a place like this? The pool side service rocks! Every server was on top of their game and kept the drinks coming all day! The room was bigger than I expected. 2 queen beds, a couch (not a pull out), mini fridge, table with 2 chairs and a ginormous walk in closet that was not needed. The TV was tiny but that's not why I was there. Bed was rock hard. Air conditioning worked excellent. Parking is a nightmare. Thankfully I parked my car and didn't drive until we checked out. There is parking on the side of the building. 1 row and it's slanted parking spots. However, it does not loop around so you have to make a 3 point turn in a very narrow aisle or back all the way down the aisle to exit. read more

The beachcomber was a perfect 4-night getaway! I stayed here March 18-22 with two friends and the price was one of the best in St. Pete and RIGHT on the beach. Check-in was quick and the staff (I believe the woman who checked me in was Patti) were upbeat and pleasant. The rooms were clean, with a sliding glass door and chairs onto a little balcony facing the pool (and even the ocean). Jimmy B's Beach Bar is a few steps away and has great dinner options and is reasonably priced, along with strong drinks. The beach is less than a minute walk away and it was beautiful, white sands and warm Gulf water. When you book a room you receive a voucher for a 2 cabana rental for each day you stay. We had 3 guests total so we rented an extra chair for $10/day. The two pools are heated and warm with pool towels provided. Overall, this place isn't the most "luxurious" resort in the world but it provided a great experience-- I have no complaints! Everything we needed was in walking distance (Walgreen's, 7-11, Sun n Sands beach shop, breakfast, lunch, dinner restaurants) and Uber's can be ordered quickly! I would definitely stay here again! We are locals to the Tampa Bay Area so we are always at the gulf beaches and have been to many hotels and resorts and this was definitely one of the worst experiences we have ever had, will definitely never be back and would not recommend this place to anyone. First of all this place is not a resort, it's a Hotel. Came here for a family weekend, rented 4 rooms and were disappointed as soon as we entered the rooms once we arrived. -A/C was not adequate for the room and it was very hot unless we just stood in front of the tiny unit. Bathroom had zero ventilation or cooling and it was just miserable. -Trying to charge a cell phone was so aggravating because every time you plug something in it either popped half way out or all the way out....crazy. -We always carry a small cooler in the beach or to the pool when we stay at hotels, boy don't try that at Beachcombers, the employees will literally harass you and tell you that the managers have been known to literally take people's coolers and you are strictly prohibited from having any drinks at their pool or beach unless they are purchased from them....have never in my life been treated like that! This place has crappy old rooms and is a party place that just wants to take all of your money after you overpay to stay in their hot old rooms plus pay a daily resort fee for a place that is anything but a resort. Unless you like hot rooms after spending the day at the pool and beach being harassed by hotel employees stay far away. I LOVED this place! Got an awesome deal on Hotwire and couldn't possibly have been happier!! Room was spacious, walk in closet, views and location were PHENOMENAL!!! Food on site was delicious and reasonably priced, two heated pools, the beach is RIGHT THERE! No reason to leave the resort! We will definitely return. Very nice staff, everyone was very friendly, decent room ( clean) , great location - easy access to the beach + 2 pools , Jimmy B's - very nice , friendly both bartenders & waitstaff , drink's , food & live bands - all good !
