I finally signed up to post reviews on Yelp because this company was so great I felt I really needed to let others know. We got 5 different quotes for the demolition and removal of a small cottage in our backyard, and the quotes varied widely. We went with Peninsula Hauling and are so glad we did! Their quote was the lowest among the licensed and insured bunch (we did get one lower quote from a local handyman, but decided we wanted the safety of an insured company). They did a quick and fantastic job! Our job was quickly booked, and they showed up on time with a group of guys and a few trucks. Two of the other companies complained about our poor access and said we they would have to dismantle part of the deck. The Peninsula Hauling guys said "no problem!" and took the cottage down in one day with no dismantling of our deck. They cleaned up the site and repaired a sprinkler line that got damaged while they were removing a tree stump. They were very pleasant to work with and we were billed exactly what we were quoted. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for any demolition or hauling job. read more

Needed to get quite bit of concrete in the patio and in front of the house to be broken and removed. Peninsula Hauling was a bit slow in delivering a written estimate, but once committed, despite an equipment problem, kept the schedule. Worked on Saturday. Efficient, friendly and very neat. Took care not to destroy my tomatoes :-) and made sure that no damage was done to the surrounding hardscape. Did a nice job cleaning up after the removal. read more

Actual Labor 5 Stars..Customer Service 3 stars.. Email request went unanswered and some phone messages.. Quote appraiser was very late. The most important thing is the quality of the work.. The crew showed up on time and we're professional and well trained in their skills.. We had a very difficult situation, fence on one side and garage on the other , they were able to bring down a 12 ft trailer carport without incident. They removed all the concrete pilings. Removed ever piece of debris and raked the entire area flat.. Administrative staff is suppose to be replaced soon. I would definitely recommend them for any demolish work.. I had Peninsula Hauling to demo my old house back in May. They did fantastic job, not only getting the quoted scope of work, but also went extra to help remove other dirt and small trees that made the follow-on construction easier. Their price is also very competitive for such high quality work. I'd like to express my appreciation to Chris the supervisor who oversaw the job for his responsiveness and professionalism. It promoted me to give them the second job of grading the lot and they initially didn't get it very right, but Chris took the responsibility to send his crew back to finish it even after I've paid the amount in full. Buyer beware! Run the opposite way as fast as you can! Peninsula H&D was sent to my home to demo the interior. I was told it would take 2 days. It was 4 days total. I stopped by the house 6 times at different times each day. Every single time they were sprawled on the front lawn or in the garage "taking a break." I'd stay for 20 minutes or more all the while they sat. My contractor also told me that every time he stopped in they were lying around. The weather was nice and cool so that was not an issue. They also drove their big hauling trucks with the company name for I can only assume, marketing. They loaded 2 so parking the additional 2 empty trucks made no sense to me. My neighbors also complained that they were speeding in my community in those big trucks. And then, the bill --- $4,000 higher than quoted. Chris, the manager, was unresponsive so I called every day for a week until he took my call. He was rude. Unprofessional company that rips off their customers. read more

The crew arrived just a bit early, professional, finished ahead of contracted time, cleaned up. Exactly what I was looking for on this small demo project. Estimate was developed from in-person discussion in their office (I came with measurements and photos), not a site visit. It was a little bit pricier than I hoped, but that's a problem with my guess - it was in the right ballpark and I agreed. Final invoice came in within agreed estimate. They called me the next day to check up. I'm pretty darn satisfied, and will call them again on future projects. read more

I like to put a nice word for this company. They first sent a worker to do a onsite estimate, the same day I called them on the phone. The next day a crew arrived and clean up everything I asked them to and also left the garage floor and driveway spotless. The crew was polite and friendly, and my interaction with Chris on the phone was courteous and professional. The truck was full to the brim with, I believe, 17 yards of yard waste. Grand Total $400. I used Penninsula Hauling to demolish my old 800 sqft house, detached two car garage, and clear four fruit trees, a fence and a driveway on my 7000 sqft lot in preparation for new construction. I was not sure I had made the right choice leading up to my demolition date, but I can't imagine my now completed demolition going more smoothly than it did. They showed up at 8am, prepared for about an hour until 9am, and my lot was magically empty by 3 pm. They had one huge excavator and three GIGANTIC hauling trucks that circulated between the dump and my lot throughout the day. The entire neighborhood came and watched Chris, the entertaining foreman, run the show. Chris interacted with all of the kids and neighbors making it a fun day for an otherwise inherently loud and disruptive process. Jessica from the office is very friendly and did a thorough job helping me get my demolition permit from the town and arrange everything else needed for the demolition . I am the facilities manager for a private school in Palo Alto and we hired Peninsula Hauling to replace 16 tons of play sand for us. They came out the same day and gave us a free estimate. They did the job on Saturday and brought in some large equipment . Not only did they finish the job in an amazing 3.5 hours but after they left you would have never known they were there. We have used them twice now: once for deck removal and just now for gutting our back yard. Each time we were very impressed with the service. Jorge is an excellent foreman and he really listens to the customer: for example we have a very rickety fence that in order for it to be replaced we had to remove some flower beds that abutted it, and we explained to him that the crew had to be careful. He made sure they were. They pick up after themselves very well, provided us with accurate estimates, and when the time comes for the front yard, we will definitely use them again. We won't even bother going out on bids from other companies at this point. read more

I have NEVER yelped before but felt it was definitely warranted. I had a wonderful experience with Peninsula Hauling and Demolition. My brother's backyard needed cleaning out. What was to be an easy job turned into more than all of us bargained for. Chris came out to bid the job. He was professional but someone who made you feel you've known him for years. Within a few hours, he was back with three trucks, and two pieces of excavating equipment. His crew, Juan, Daniel and Ivan were fantastic. They were hard workers, respectful of the property and had a smile on their face even though the job was challenging. The tight conditions to maneuver their large equipment proved not to be a challenge for them. They worked with ease, even though the side yard was very narrow and close to our neighbors home. When I thought the job was done after they finished sweeping I became even more surprised. Chris and the crew power washed the surrounding area that was effected by the dust and dirt as well as the driveway. They left the site cleaner than when they arrived. Terrible customer service. After getting an initial estimate in May we had to delay our demo project. The estimator, Adam, did a great job of checking in with us regarding our timing and assuring us their lead time was less than two weeks out each time we spoke. We had a fencing job to coordinate right after demolition so lead time and scheduling was very important to us. When we were ready to move forward on our project in August, we were informed Adam was no longer with the company. We began working with a new person who seemed quite inexperienced. When we added the removal of one tree to our project, despite sending pictures, they told us a new estimator needed to come out to evaluate. This started a process of delays, phone calls and clarifications that took weeks. I almost always had to call them, multiple times, to get answers or get things moving along. Then when we finally signed a contract and were told our target date three plus weeks in the future was "totally fine" a week went by. I had to call again to see why the scheduling dept had not called me. When they finally called they told me our project was scheduled six weeks out. The woman in scheduling was very unprofessional and uncourteous. This stated another weeklong process of me having to call them several times to see if we could get an earlier date and referencing the many times we were told this was not a problem and how we had communicated to everyone we spoke to that we needed certain dates to coincide with our fence install. I finally cancelled the project and went with a smaller demo company. read more
