I always say, while having a good initial experience is nice, have great FOLLOWUP is even better! This is how you tell if a company will stand behind their work - for things done on your house, I think that is CRITICAL. A few days ago I noticed that on one of our faucets, if I closed the hot water side too fast there was a little bit of a rattle under the house. I thought I could handle it myself after asking Perplexity what it could be and installed a water arrestor. That didn't help so I thought, maybe it could be the strapping. I reached out to Handy Plumbing Man on a Saturday and they were quick to respond that they could have someone there on Monday. Monday morning came and their technician, Miguel, went down and found that one of the pipes they had worked on wasn't totally secured. No problem, mistakes happen. He said he'd call the office to get technicians over to check the strapping on the work below. I had to go into work but did get a message from them later on that day to see if they could get someone over the same day (Monday) to fix it. This is more on me that I had already gone into work, but they said they could do tomorrow morning at 8am. The guys, Carlos and Baltazar, came bright and early, went under the house and secured the pipe and then some. Awesome company! read more

We have used Andy plumbing man over the course of the past three years. They keep an ongoing record of what has been done at our residence and some apartments we own on the peninsula several times. The issues were corrected within minutes. No charge what I'm most impressed with is their system of verification confirmation and ETA. They don't let you waiting the entire day if they can get there earlier they do so so they put in several toilets and dealt with plumbing issues so I give them a top five out of five. read more

I actually have not gone with them at this time - Yelp recommended this business, but they are a little further away than I personally want for this project. What I will comment on is how responsive they were, within less than an hour someone was in touch with me. She quickly explained the situation about the location being outside their immediate area and when I explained I wanted someone closer, she was so understanding and just really professional. If I am unhappy with the more local choices, I am absolutely going to give them a call back! We've been having small issues after our house renovation and noticed our bidet was leaking at the base. Checked out Yelp and found Handy Plumbing Man. These guys are super professional, they do have a $95 first visit fee that will be included to the service if you move forward. The price is ok but we had a bidet :) it's definitely more expensive maintaining it. Plus we have the peace of mind of if it leaks they will come back. They also checked the crawlspace for leaks. My experience with Handy Plumbing Man was positive. I found a leak outside of my house in a landscape bed. I originally suspected it was associated with our sprinkler system but came to realize it was a copper pipe and the actual water supply to our house. Fortunately, the leak was a pinhole, but clearly needed to be addressed. I received a couple of estimates and found HPM to be competitive. The first person who came to assess, Jerry, was amicable and communicated well. I chose them for the repair, and they were able to send a couple of folks back shortly after to complete the work. RE: Sewage Main Replacement I recommend Handy Plumbing and Jerry (if you're lucky enough to get him) I hired Handy Plumbing because I liked how Jerry took the time to thoroughly explain my options and even came out a second time to confirm / get additional measurements. And even better -- there's no bait and switch. Jerry wasn't just a sales guy who passed me off to his implementation team -- Jerry acted as my primary point of contact and personally did his best to ensure the whole process went smoothly start to finish. That's not to say we didn't have a few complications -- but I really appreciated how responsive Jerry was and that he went above and beyond. If this is your first sewage main replacement, here's a few things I wish I knew: (1) I did trenchless which was the right option for me -- and it's fascinating watching the team do the install, but trench is generally the ultimate if you can afford the expense and disruption. (2) There can be gas or other lines in the way -- Handy did a great job mitigating the risk of damaging my city's gas line. (3) Connecting to the city main is complicated. There are regulations and other entities involved and there were a few annoyances related to this, but Jerry + Handy did their best to navigate this. Every city will be different, but I do recommend being physically present when work in the middle of the street is being done. Best of luck with your plumbing project! Recently I learned I needed to replace a 60 foot 70 year old sewer line at a tenant occupied house. I researched several plumbing companies and decided on Handy Plumbing Man. My concern was the fact that I was going to be out of town when the work took place. I asked my son to monitor the work while I was gone. The project was done quickly and efficiently. I would NOT recommend Handy Plumbing Man. Requested a quote for 2 projects: 1) main shutoff replacement, and 2) removing a stuck p-trap Pros: Prompt response and scheduling Cons: 1. For the first project, the technician tried to increase the scope and gave an estimate that included items that I didn't really need, like replacing the PRV, adding an equipment above the water heater, reconfig the pipe, etc. Of course it was way above our budget. 2. The warranty only covers 60 days with all sorts of restrictions. 3. The p-trap removal estimate went ridiculous. The technician didn't even bother to come upstairs to take a look though I asked twice. Just by looking at the pictures, he gave a $350 estimate and said it could go as high as $1800 if it ends up needing to cut out the drywall. This is insane. In contrast, the other company that I eventually used gave a much more reasonable quote, had a warranty for 365 days, got the job done meticulously on the same day. And their technician simply twisted the p-trap off during the estimate and didn't charge even a dime. Also tweaked the PRV without me even asking. read more

Bathroom shower repair: the cartridge that shifts the water flow from the handheld shower tool to the overhead spout was broken, but after three plumbers came out, Handy Plumbing Man found an adequate replacement and fixed the situation. What I appreciate most about these guys is that they don't oversell you. For example, the tech noticed a crack in the main shower head during their initial visit, and instead of selling me on replacing it, he told me that I can just go to a local home improvement store and do it myself (which would save me time and money.) I would not recommend handy man plumbing. I had a clogged kitchen sink and they tried to have my landlord pay $3000 to reroute the plumbing. Then we agreed to just snake the drain which costed $450 just for that!!! Once they put it back together, they had cracked the pipe and there was a leak and then charged $650 more to repair the damage THEY caused that would be done the next day. And when I asked if they could seal the leak with glue or tape for the time being before leaving they said no. I felt taken advantage of and that their work is extremely overpriced. I know my post will be deleted since I am an odd bird chirping awkwardly! Thanks to Yelp's deletion mechanism. But it is worth publishing for public good. The overwhelmingly good review about Handy seems amazing. So, I followed the crowd and made a request for our toilet leak, two techs from Handy came in, without lifting a finger, they asked me to hire someone they recommend opening the wall to locate the leak. They seem to believe that the pipes are actively leaking. They mentioned that if this is due to toilet leaking, they could seal it for $450. But I have to pay for the opening / closing walls etc. If this is due to pipe leaking, it has to cost me a fortune. I was very shocked these two techs didn't bother to open the toilet. Instead, they directly asked for drilling / opening wall. So, I hired another plumber, and the person did his wonders. We quickly analyzed the location of the leak marks from downstairs and determined it will most likely be a toilet leak. He quickly opened the toilet given the location marks from downstairs and identified the issue without opening ANY wall. The downstairs repair will be happening two weeks after we completely fix the plumbing issue so that we won't deal with wet walls and germs spreading in the air. It is a much smaller job compared to what Handy proposed and way more cost effective. I spent $250 for toilet fixing compared to Handy's $450 plus all the unnecessary constructions. What Handy proposed was costly and stupid!!! Opening a wall without knowing what was going on seems a foolish decision. I wonder if this is due to the techs' lack of knowledge / common sense or just a way to fool the customers. Furthermore, it is a health hazard to expose wet / infected air without knowing what is going on. I wanted to share my personal experience for the readers to better judge the situation in the future. read more

You think dishonest plumbers are a thing of the past, well think again. I went with this company because they had so many good reviews. Not my experience. The estimator and plumber both tried to scam me to do a bigger job that cost 3 times as much for no reason. The estimator's name is Brian and the plumber Patricio. It was a simple temporary copper fitting leak and when their quote sounded fishy I decided to call another plumber for a second quote. So glad I did because the job was done with a third of the cost and the explanation made sense! I will never use this company again. They apparently have 42 employees so you never know who you are going to get. read more
