Well, it's 7 years later and they picked up the phone and were at my house 2 hours later for the estimate. He made a few suggestions about what to cut and what to keep and then within 2 minutes calculated the bid and gave me the proposal. I quoted a concrete pouring job from them for the foundation of an extended room. The owner said he can come in the afternoon but rescheduled to the morning second day with a late notice. The next day he showed up and I thought the quote was reasonable with the mixer truck and pump. Unfortunately the estimate of concrete was off by 1 cubbies yard. At first we had to request this extra yard which is quite expensive for the delivery. Then he saw some cement left by my builder in front of the garage. However, he failed to mix it correctly without other parts. As the result, this part of concrete was not correct and it break into pieces when the builder started to add frames. Now I have to ask someone else to come in and redo this part. Not recommended because not sure how experienced they are to make such mistakes. read more

My husband wanted to install some sheds in the backyard so we needed to spread some concrete over a section of the backyard and make level ground - we got some quotes on Yelp and Kippy/Mona were available the earliest (tho not the cheapest) so I asked them to come out. We hired Kippy to redo our driveway, sidewalk, and pave half of the backyard this September. It's been 3 months, we are confident to give his team a 5-star rating, and would definitely recommend Kippy to others and use his services again. We started by asking around for a few quotes. Among them, most took a brief look, went away, and sent us some rough numbers above our budget. Kippy was different. He and his crew measured carefully, asked about our budget, and tailored the plan so it can fit in. He suggested to color and seal the driveway for better looking and durability, which turned to be great advice. In the end, he was even OK with doing a small part for free so we could accommodate the cost. It was a no-brainer to hire him and it looks like we were right. The project started on time. A crew of 6-8 folks went in and started demolishing old stuff and collected the garbage with no additional charge, which took a few days. We had several established trees in the backyard and by the driveway that would need some heavy labor to get rid of, but they got everything cleaned up with no complaints. The next week or so was spent on setting up the wooden molds. The backyard part was a bit tricky because we asked for a tiled shape with precise dimensions, but the job was done without a problem. A few days later, the concrete company went in and started pouring. Kippy handled everything dealing with them so zero involvement was needed from us. After that, the crew spent another few days leveling, polishing, and stamping the driveway with nice patterns (again, no additional charge). Then he told us to wait for a week, came back, and sealed the driveway nicely. It looked quite glossy when done but after a few weeks, it's reduced to a satin look which we find quite pleasant to watch. He even paved part of the driveway entrance and built a step for our front door for free. Finally, he drove by and cleaned up all the construction waste from our yard. We've been actively using the paved area for 3 months since it's done. Still very satisfied. read more

He walked through the entire space, recommending improvements (e.g. drainage for multiple gutters, having a davis color for the pour, etc), and worked through multiple iterations of our non-standard design. His son was also helpful in understanding what we were trying to accomplish and since he was the one responsible for framing out the actual forms, ensured that the final layout matched our expectations. The concrete crew that poured my driveway was unbelievably sloppy. They managed to break several of my plants and piled dirt, as well as broken concrete, all over my side yard creating a huge mess that I had to spend days cleaning up. They also dropped a couple of boxes of nails in the bushes and didn't bother to even pick up. But the worst part was when they poured concrete directly over my sprinkler wire, cutting it in the process. Now, I'm stuck with another expense to hire someone to fix the system and also figure out a way to hide the wire. This should have been a clean pour over the wire as it was before. I also called them to come pick up their cone and a few other things they left behind. I got a thumbs up that they would. But no, they never came back. Once they got their final check, I never heard another work. I WOULD STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND THEM. read more

Kippy is great when he shows up. Had him do a carport slab in 2020. Estimated, started next day, great quality work, finished in 3 days. Two other times, met him, estimated, agreed to work and start date. On start date he wrote and said he needed to reschedule. Then he kept rescheduling until the work was never done. Needs an assistant to help him manage his schedule. Either that or he overschedules and picks the most profitable/easiest job. Hard to say. Good quality work if you get him to arrive. :D read more

We wanted to get our patio done and had a pretty good idea on what we wanted. Kippy scheduled a time and stopped by to consult and provided some good feedback. We ended up with Concrete stamped concrete which is sandstone in color, sun buff release and some stain on the borders and a couple of designs. Workflow was: * breakup and clear old concrete * Framing for concrete pour * Add base rock and compress it * Pour concrete and apply release * Wash off the release next day * Install lights (pre-planned fixtures installed) * Stain the design a week later * powerwash/seal after a month Kippy and his crew were always very prompt and extremely courteous. After reading all the positive reviews, I was surprised when Kippi turned out to be quite unprofessional. Before starting any work, we asked him for a brief work order or a contract to agree on the scope and specifications of the work - as we normally do with other professional, reliable contractors. But Kippi didn't want to spend any time writing out one I guess, so we typed a rough contract and sent it to him, however he didn't sign that either. Still, going by the good reviews, we decided to proceed with the project and decided on a start date, only for him to postpone it one day before scheduled start. That's fine, so we agreed on another date and when he shows up, he still doesn't bring a work order, he hasn't signed the one we gave him and he demands half the fees upfront (which is OK, but he hadn't told us about requiring upfront payment). He also didn't attempt to try and find a solution, got aggressive and overall, based on his communication, attitude and utter lack of professionalism we asked him to leave our premises. I can only guess maybe he has become too complacent with the good reviews or he can afford to treat potential customers badly and still get enough business. We hired Kippy to work on two of our patios. We wanted to pour concrete on the smaller patio and install tiles/pavers on the bigger one. Kippy came to have a look and gave us an estimate of the effort and price. Our initial plan was to remove the existing concrete and put pavers but Kippy suggested to keep the concrete since it was in good shape and would keep the labor and price down. He also suggested to use thinner pavers/tiles. He gave us good suggestions on the kind of tiles/pavers to use and some good stores to buy them from. His initial estimate of effort was 4 days but they finished the work in less than 2 days; they worked till 9:30 pm on one of the days! I liked the fact that Kippy and his crew were courteous and finished work on time and stuck to the initial quote. This was after calling a few other places that were either non-responsive or unprofessional. I wish I would have called KS Bay Concrete first. From the first phone call with Kippy, I felt like I was in good hands. I called on Friday and he scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. Monday morning he shows up...NOT ONLY ON TIME but a little early. I wish I could give a 6th star for that alone. I've never had a contractor wait on me. After a quick site walk through, the crew was ready to get to work. I headed to work and as I was pulling out of my driveway, they were unloading rebar and equipment. They showed up prepared! I returned later in the afternoon and the work was done. Beautiful new concrete pads with no mess. I'm really impressed with the cleanliness of both sites. The cost was very competitive. Kippy and his crew did a beautiful brick patio for us. We plan to put a hot tub on it, but people who see it say it's a shame to cover it because it looks so great! His crew was outstanding! The project was a little complicated because the pad had to be level, but the ground was slightly sloped, and it had to tie into an existing brick boarder, also different levels. But they had no problem getting all the levels correct. The existing brick was a slightly different size, and Kippy went out of his way to visit all the brick suppliers in the area to try to find the exact size to match - didn't expect him to do this! They even repaired a cracked section of brick sidewalk that the previous contractors didn't reinforce correctly. Nothing was done sloppy - it all looks perfect.
