I went to Peninsula Dental Center to have a crown glued back on. This was a crown that they put on originally. I arrived on time for my 11:40 appointment. After receiving an X-ray and a nurse cleaned the crown I paid $150.00 for the procedure. After over an hour a dentist glued the crown back on. As I was leaving the front desk person said I owed another $197.00. I ended up paying $347.00 for 5 minutes work and 50 cents worth of glue. I will not be back !!! read more

Dr. Brar is the best dentist I've ever had. He's so caring and listens to my concerns. I trust him with my teeth. I recently had work done by him - crowns, bridges, partials. The care I received from him and his assistant, Bonnie, went above and beyond. They refashioned my old lower partial so I could wear it while waiting for the new one. (They did not have to do that.) I scarcely know where to begin with this one. Made my new patient appointment. Showed up a little early as I always do. Got in and had X-rays and eval. Then here comes the witch on a broom. Dr. Ajit Chhina was in her third trimester at the time or had just given birth. Either way, she had no business being at work because her attitude was atrocious. When I brought it up with an assistant and it was nothing but excuses. "Well, she just had a baby; her blood pressure; she doesn't eat; etc., etc., etc. I've got news for you. Women have babies all day, every day, and don't act like that. I don't care what her personal issues are/were. She had no business accepting new patients at the end of her pregnancy. That was her choice. She had nine months to make good decisions, including having time off. You show up for work, do your d@mn job. After that, she decided to take time off, so they called me and told me they'd have to reschedule my next appointment as she was going to be off for several weeks. I had a fit. They had already started the work, and I reminded them that we had a signed contract with a start and end date, and I expected them to adhere to it. So they assigned me to someone else to finish the job. I showed up for one appointment, and they got mad that I had to reschedule because they were going to do multiple extractions at one time. I told them I had no problem with that, but since I hadn't been told this when I made the appointment, I had another appointment booked right after on the other side of town, and there wouldn't be enough time to make that appointment. "What did you THINK you were coming in for?" was asked with a screwed up face and nasty attitude. I had no clue since they NEVER TELL you what the next appointment is for. Don't get me started with the billing. They maxed out my 3k dental benefits, billed me for an additional $1800+. Then weeks later came back to me for another $136 and REFUSED TO BOOK ANYMORE APPOINTMENTS UNTIL THE $136 WAS PAID IN FULL. They got nearly five grand up front and then pulled this sht. To this day, the dentures do not fit the way they are supposed to, never mind that I went back for months for additional fittings. I found a different dentist and booked an appointment with them. They said the dentures couldn't be fixed, and I needed a completely different set. A waste of a year and over $5000. I don't know HOW they are still in business, especially when you read the reviews here and see nothing but complaints! Don't get me started on the girl who filed down perfectly good teeth because she thought it would make chewing and biting easier when I didn't even say that was an issue! read more

Money hungry facility, they charge for missed appointments over a year later and hit you with late fees, they don't bill insurance appropriately and over charge customers for their lack of competency. You provide them the your insurance information but they don't bill them then act like it's your problem. And then want you to pay the late fees because the insurance didn't pay when it was due. Have requested to speak to the office manager several times and never get to speak with one. Called today sat on hold for 15 minutes, drove to the office and sat there waiting to speak to them they are busy with a kid was told. All over a late fee from a bill they failed to send out for a late cancellation. But nothing in their office states anything about notice required for cancellation. read more

I could write a book about how horrible this place is. Gave 3 days notice (responded as soon as I received the reminder) when I couldn't go to an appointment due to the death of a family member. They told me that because it was a weekend appointment, they required 7 days notice, a policy that I was never made aware of. I explained the situation, they said that I could provide documentation but I would still owe the late fee...wth? Told me my insurance would pay for half the cost of my crowns, I set up a payment plan to pay the half I owed. I paid my portion, had the work done, then 2 months later got hit with another bill. They said that my insurance wouldn't pay... isn't that why you called them in the first place? My temporary crowns started to crumble, but they cancelled my appointment.... and didn't reschedule. When my tooth started to hurt because it became infected due to the temporary not being sealed properly they refused to treat me because I had an outstanding balance. My insurance wouldn't allow me to go to another office, so I was stuck with them. I ended up having to borrow money to pay off the rest of the balance before they would treat me even though the whole side of my face had swollen. The tooth that was in the back was so infected and so damaged that it couldn't be saved. So I paid for a crown that couldn't even be used because the tooth was so damaged. Also, they discussed medical and financial information well within earshot of other patrons, the partitions there are not adequate.... lack of care to protect patient information and privacy. My whole experience was awful. First time there. The receptionist was absolutely rude. Then I went to the ignorant x ray technician. I was hoping it would get better. I had two mollers extracted. Doctor has horrible bed side mannner. Very slow and doesn't use adequate anesthesia. When you say something to her, she gets an attitude. Says you're not in pain! It's just pressure. A horribly run dental office. They do not return phone calls from me nor my insurance provider. Based on an agreed upon explanation of benefits, the overcharged me by over $300. They wanted additional money from me, but I refused to pay the additional money based on the advice of Cigna Dental insurance. I have reported them to the MD State Dental Board, and will probably have to sue them to get my refund. This has been going on for over nine months. Regarding the quality of their dental work, when I was having a temporary crown replaced by the permanent crown, the dental assistant was struggling to remove the temporary. After much pulling and pain, I insisted that the dentist perform the work. I learned that the assistant was trying to remove an old permanent crown, not the temporary! WARNING-Fraud!! We have had a handful of experience with this office over several years and nothing has changed. They said my son had cavities in almost every tooth and gave a very expensive treatment plan for him. then tried to "fill" the one tooth that supposedly didn't have a cavity. Had me pay for ahead of time for certain care and have yet to receive a refund months later. Took my son to another practice who said he had no actual cavities but a couple spots to be watched. WOW! Regarding my plan of care and cost I was never able to get a clear answer as to what the insurance covered and they were quoting me as if I didn't have insurance. many calls and emails and no response. I used to go to PDC many years ago but stopped because their hours of operation were not conducive to my work schedule (I worked an hour away). When I found out that their hours changed to include Saturdays, I immediately went back. The other Dentist that I went to for a spell did not accept BC/BS and it became out-of-pocket heavy and out of network reimbursements were a pain. I've been seeing Dr. Chinna since I started back and I could not be happier. She has a great touch and is very thorough. I recently had a temporary crown break on me on a Friday afternoon after 4PM. I called the emergency number and the on-call Dentist called me back while I was still in the process of leaving a message. He had me in Saturday morning to get a new temporary crown made. That is service!! I have yet to meet Dr. Mohan but I have had Dr. Brar work on me and he is very professional as well. I recommend PDC! read more

First, I will say that everyone that I've encountered during the time that we've gone has always been nice and tried to help as best they could. They are terribly understaffed and it shows in their scheduling and during the time that they are treating you. I've never been in a dentist office place where I've felt so rushed. The dentist never spoke to me directly about work needed for my kids. Never showed and explained X-rays to me etc. Also, I've never been to a dentist office that doesn't give you a printout of services rendered, of a treatment plan, etc. Like I said earlier, everyone that works there is nice and I do think is trying his/her best, but if you have other options for a dental office, I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere. read more

the nurses and office staff were amazing. however when it came to my actual appointmet to have 2 teeth removed, i had the worst time of my life. and still am the day after. i have had mutilple teeth removed at another office in delaware at the same time and not once felt actual pain. i go here and have 2 removed and feel pain as one tooth is being removed and tremendous pain the night/day after. it hasnt even been 24 hours and i refuse to go back here. i obviously was in pain when she removed the 2nd tooth and she kept going and mentioned its just pressure. i was in tears. absolute tears when she removed it. i have never experienced this when having teeth removed anywhere else. i am pissed and extremely upset. i am terrified to eat because it hurts so bad. as stated the nurses and office staff were amazing. the actual dentists not so much. would not listen to me when i was in pain. i have zero plans on returning to this office ever. read more

I had called the front desk staff and asked them to email me a list of dental work that needs to be done as requested by my pcp prior to my appointment. When the front desk staff did not follow through, i had to reach out again prior to my appointment and explained that my appoint was just in a few hours and was still waiting on the email. If it would make it easier they could just tell me over the phone what i needed done so i can just let my pcp know. They said that the email will be sent before 3 pm at the time of my appointment. Unfortunately the front desk staff was not smart enough to open a record and get the information needed. Can you give less than a one star? Worst experience ever. I hate to do dental work at all and they made me realize why. My first time in, it was like the assistant worked off of commission as she kept trying to get me to get more and more work done saying "tell your man he better step up" after I told her I would have to talk to husband about all the dental work. The experience was horrible! I had two root canals and 3 fills at one sitting and I was in extreme pain. They did not help me at all. Then after saying they wouldn't charge me for a visit after the dentist had to see me for dental error, they did!!! I had to come back in a week later bc they did not polish and buff a tooth down properly and it caused an infection and a lot of pain. They then polished and buffed it and dental assistant even said "I can see it sharp...that rubbing up against your mouth over and over again would really hurt you and would cause this" I'm like duh. When u left, dentist said "no charge" and then they billed me for it. Fast forward I was going to get my permanent crowns and they tried to overcharge me with more than what my bill was on care credit. She was talking about how it would work out with interest and all, but that was a lie. It was pure chaos that day and all the patients were complaining. The assistant was having a rough time getting my temporary ones off snd she was really hurting me. She got another assistant to help before finally getting the dentist who seemed annoyed. Always such a fun experience. I find out later that they overcharge me and then I call and that's the best part. The receptionist, was completely rude when she talked to me on the phone about the billing issue and was so condescending and obnoxious. Like I was the problem. Great customer service btw. If I could give zero stars I would. Similar experiences to all the other poor reviews. We switched here because my daughter needed two teeth extracted per her orthodontist- we were on a time line. Waited over an hour in the chair, and was told she needed a cleaning, despite me saying that she had a cleaning less than 2 months ago. When the dentist extracted the teeth, she was crying and said that she could feel it, and he kept insisting she could not. After the extraction, they chased me out in the parking lot and said I could not take her teeth for the tooth fairy. They also had me pay $243 for the services, despite the insurance saying I should have only owed $146. I have been trying for 2 months to speak to someone on the phone. The office manager is always "out sick" and they do not return calls or emails. They informed Cigna that they "billed incorrectly" and that they were going to resubmit the claim, which they have yet to do. Today when i called, I was told that the office manager was out yet again, and that a "third party" handles all of their insurance claims and billing. Yet, this is the first time that I have heard of such a practice in their office. I realize it is only $97 we are talking about here, however, it is the principal of how they are doing things. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and will be filing one with the Maryland State Dental Board as well as reporting them to my insurance company for insurance fraud. Not to mention, on top of the terrible service from pretty much everyone in the office, the office is cluttered, dingy and dirty. Counters in the treatment area are piled high with boxes and items. A visit for three cavities took over four hours. The Novicaine had worn off but when I told the dentist, she said they were almost done and didn't give me any more. This experience was with my 83 year old father. He broke his dentures and needed a complete new set.He paid for them in full.He started the process of ordering them in early November 2021.The first visit was OK but after that the entire process went downhill. Weeks went by with no communication from the dentist office unless we called them .Apparently the molds were sent out to another state ,they weren't right .New molds were made , again this process restarted. This happened several times. My father had no dentures during this entire time . It was frustrating and painful, finally he was just too tired to fight this issue anymore. My daughter was on her last set of invisaligns when an emergency came up and we had to cancel and reschedule her appointment. They gave her an appointment for 9/1/22 which was almost 3 months out. I was told that even if they broke they would not get her in any sooner they would allow her to go without any. I cannot speak to their work although I do question how many problems they identified with my father's teeth. One star aligns to billing/ cancellation policies and dishonesty. Due to the Memorial Day holiday, my senior citizen father, on a fixed income, was unable to cancel exactly 24 or more hours ahead of scheduled appt. He was not feeling well. Per the assistant office manager, he was 8 minutes late in cancelling so they intended on keeping $211.00. I have never had a dentist require deposits at time of scheduling My father went in to ask for a refund in person 3 times and was told it was under review by the dentist. I began calling twice a week starting on 9 July and was told they would refund but were dismissing him from the practice. They did not refund the $211 until 29 July (6 phone calls). I am also reporting to Medicare and the Maryland State Dental Association as I was informed anyone accepting any State Assistance (Md Healthy Smile or Medicaid) cannot charge late or cancellation fees. read more

while sitting in the WAITING ROOM for TWO HOURS, I met another (previous) patient who let me know how horrible of an experience she had. She stated she was charged for a full mouth extraction and dentures and only had ONE tooth pulled and a deep cleaning. She also stated that the Dentist inflicted great pain and no numbing agent was given. She stated her mouth was on fire for hours after the visit. When she received her EOB from her insurance company and realized all of the false charges and that she, herself, had overpaid, she called repeatedly for a correction and a refun. She was ignored for WEEKS and decided she was going to take time off from her job and sit in the office until the Manager would address the issues. She sat in the waiting room for over an hour! Well, I should have taken heed to the warnings she was giving me. I received my EOB and discovered that after my 2 hour wait, the extremely unprofessional staff and the very painful cleaning I went through, that I had been over charged as well. I have attempted to reach the Manager for a week and a half now with no return call and been treated like I am the issue each time I have called. The older woman at check out was unprofessional and smart mouthed to a patient on the phone, the office is filthy and a disaster and I STILL have not been given a refund for my over payment! Funny thing is, while the first patient and I were chatting in the waiting room ANOTHER PATIENT had come in with the EXACT SAME ISSUES and decided to tell the very rude front desk woman to have the office manager return her call as she had left multiple messages as well!! Now, I have had enough! I will NEVER go back and I will tell everyone I know NEVER to go there. BEWARE: Had to pay upfront for my dentures. When I got my Insurance statement it said I was overcharged by over $500. I inquired about it and was told that it was for premium dentures. I was not told this nor is it on my receipt (that they did not want to give me the day I paid). They only have one kind of denture. i went for my second visit to Peninsula Dental and it is my last. I have never had the most horrifying experience than what I had today. Went in for a filling. Numbing jel applied. Waited so long for the dentist (Dr Chhina) that the jel wore off. Dentist reapplied and waited "maybe " 2 minutes and then began to inject the Novocain. Apparently I was not numb and I felt it when she hit a nerve. Just about came out of the chair and yelled out. After another few seconds she begins to inject me again. Same reaction. My response to the dentist was that I had never had that kind of experience before. She and her assistant walked away saying nothing. I looked around to see where the dentist was and she was with another patient. I waited 10 minutes and my mouth had never gotten numb. Stay away from this place. I have been a paciest of Peninsula Dental Center and Dr Hoffman for a very long time, years before Dr B. took charge. Unfortunately I had an emergency and Dr. Chhina did root canal probably to the wrong tooth. Beside the very high charge for the procedure, when I came back for a follow up as the pain did not recited, they charge me again and again for every 5 minute visit (The doctor said: It will go away in 2 -3 days, = $75, Come back in 3 months = $75). I still have the problem, but I will not step 100 feet close to this place. read more

I was charged for a broken appointment on a Saturday, even though I called twice to Leave a message The Friday before. I received the bill and they would not waive the fee. I did not know there was a 7 day cancellation fee for a Saturday appointment Because it was my first time scheduling a Saturday. No one called me back or I would have gone. I am a teacher and I am the last to know when I am a close contact. I cancelled because I was trying to be considerate but they didn't seem to care if I came possibly carrying Covid. I understand I was late to cancel but even if I knew I was a close contact ealier I would not have been able to give 7 days notice. I have never missed an appointment and after going back and forth, the billing department would not waive the $150 fee. I even had the school nurse send a letter. This is ridiculous. I have been going here since Dr. B took over. The staff is great. Everyone seems to enjoy working here, especially Jan at the front desk. She always has a big smile on her face when scheduling you an appointment. Dr. B has a great personality.
